    Pork Bun (2)
    Madison P.

Finally made it to the claimed by many: the "best ramen in philly." Atmosphere is cute and very cozy. Came in on a sunday evening and was pretty crowded but we were able to sit right at the bar which was fine. Service is super quick. Staff is nice and friendly! Pork bao: (5/5) These were super tasty. I really like how they add tomato and lettuce with a yummy spicy mayo sauce instead of just plain pork inside a bao bun. Pork was very slightly overcooked but it was still super good. Signature Terakawa Ramen: (4/5) I think I did myself a disservice by hyping up this place with the good reviews and expected to be blown away by this ramen. Don't get me wrong, it was good ramen, but it didn't blow me out of the water. It has a really nice creamy pork bone broth that is very comforting on a rainy day but I wish it had a little more flavor to it. Also, the pork selection I got was a little more fat and less meat than I prefer, but it was still a delicious meal. Spicy Ramen: (4/5) This ramen is packed with flavor. If you don't like fishy things, this isn't for you. The seaweed broth really comes through in this dish and brings a nice level of depth to this dish. The pork in this ramen was not as fatty as the signature one and had a good mix of fat/meat. Loved the flavors in this. Next time I come I'm definitely going to try the Tan Tan ramen!

I went here recently on a week night and it was incredibly packed. I checked in with yelp and I had a seat in about 5 minutes. Service was quick using a QR menu. I was sitting at the bar so you don't get a good sense of the rest of the place but it's nice to see folks preparing food. I did feel like service was rushed and my bill came out when I was about half done with my soup.

I've had Terakawa Ramen recommended to me so many times and I regret not coming sooner. It fully lives up to the hype. Came on a Saturday around 1 pm and it was packed with a waitlist, which already tells you a lot. First thing you notice is how cute and cozy the space is. Very traditional Japanese ramen shop vibe. Lots of wood, warm lighting, and that snug, bustling atmosphere that just feels right for ramen. My friend and I both got the signature Terakawa ramen and added the mini rice bowl with curry and chicken katsu. I love that they offer that combo since I always get food FOMO and want to try multiple things. The ramen was amazing. The broth tasted like it had been simmering for hours. Deep, rich, and full-bodied without being overly greasy. You get that collagen-heavy, slightly creamy texture that coats your mouth in the best way. Layers of umami with a clean finish. The noodles were perfectly al dente with a nice bite, and the toppings were balanced and not overwhelming. The mini curry rice bowl was perfect. Just enough to satisfy the craving without overdoing it. The curry had a subtle sweetness on the finish, maybe from apple or something similar, and was smooth and comforting. The chicken katsu was crispy on the outside, juicy inside, and paired really well with the curry. Portions are generous. I actually filled up on the mini bowl first and had to take the ramen to go. Even their takeout process shows attention to detail. They separate the noodles and toppings from the broth so nothing gets soggy. Honestly, everything about this place shows care and thought. From the food to the presentation to the service. I get the hype now and I'll definitely be back.

Great Ramen and apps! Intimate space - perfect for couples or dining solo. The ramen was delicious - the miso broth was perfect for us but I always order mine spicy. We were dining with a picky eater and we were SO GRATEFUL the waiter offered to put "everything on the side." That was so cool and nice of him. Highly recommend the shrimp tempura dumplings but honestly, highly recommend the whole menu.

Literally the best Ramen place ever. Chicken tan tan is my fave. I don't personally like the 40th street one. However, the 9th street was is such a great vibe and everyone is always so nice.

My wife and I had dinner at Terakawa Ramen in Philadelphia and it was an excellent experience from start to finish. The restaurant has a clean, inviting atmosphere that makes it a great spot to sit down and enjoy a meal. She ordered the Terakawa Signature Ramen and I had the Kyushu Danji -- both were outstanding. The broth in each bowl was deep, rich, and full of flavor, and the portions were very generous, so come hungry. Everything tasted fresh and well prepared. The staff was friendly and attentive, and our food came out quickly. Our total for both of us was $42.12 before tip, which felt like great value for the quality and portion sizes. We would absolutely return -- a solid 5/5 experience.

It is almost always busy especially during dinner time and the place is pretty small. Big portion, pretty good ramen given limited places in Philly

When I first walked in,it reminded me of Japanese mom and pop shops but, it was BUSY! I was worried that I wouldn't get seating but they were very fast and efficient! I tried 2 kinds of ramen and 1 warm noodle. Everything was PHENOMENAL! I can't wait to go back and try more on the menu. It was the perfect warming food for a cold winter day in Philly. If you're not someone who enjoys crowds I would suggest going on a weekday!

I had Terakawa on my Philly list to try and they did not let me down. Located on the edge of Chinatown away from the crowds. They offer two other locations in town. A hostess will seat and it was quick for me as a single at the bar I was able to check the kitchen. I used the QR code at the table and dr decided on their Terakawa signature Ramen bowl. This bowl contains roast pork, bamboo shoots, kikurage, mushrooms, red ginger, chopped scallions and a seasoned boiled egg. The dining room was packed on a Saturday evening. The decor was basic which was fine with me. The kitchen exposed. My waitress was helpful and friendly with getting my drink. In under 10 minutes my bowl was in front of me looking and smelling amazing! The broth was money!!! The roast pork tender and yum. The noodles were a disappointment for me, but the bowl still was a solid 4 star in my book. I would recommend and return. 4.5, rounding down.

$4 for a small bowel of white rice for my four year old son! What a rip off!

Small place, so not a lot of room to eat Chicken katsudon is one of the better ones I've had in Philly, but average overall Karaage chicken is pretty good. It's only dark meat though (I prefer white meat) Gyoza is good standard appetizer So the food is not bad, but what I really didn't like was the price gouge for a small bowel of white rice... I had asked for an extra bowl of white rice for my 4 year old son. They charged $4 for this!

I absolutely love ramen so needless to say that I'm always trying to find a good bowl everywhere I go. Went to Philly to visit family and it so happened that our Airbnb was two blocks away from Chinatown. My daughter started to look for a ramen place immediately and we were shocked to discover how many places Philly has to choose from. It so happens that Terakawa was right down the street from us and is rated third on the top ten places. It's not a very large restaurant but it's very inviting. The staff greeted us at the door and we were seated immediately (yay!) We were lucky to get that table because every other seat was taken. We ordered edamame (we always do), the croquettes and their vegetarian ramen. While we waited (not long at all), we noticed all the condiments at the table you can use to spice up your meal. We were so happy with everything. The croquettes were fluffy soft on the inside and the perfect crunch on the outside. The ramen broth was very flavorful and it comes with lots of toppings. We enjoyed this establishment so much that we ended up having dinner there both nights we were in town. The second night we invited family to join us and even though it was their first time trying ramen, they said it wouldn't be their last.

    Diana C.

The server was very helpful about helping me identify which of the veggie broth options had sesame so I could avoid them (allergies). This broth was a little less flavorful than the miso (which has sesame already in it) but still decent. The noodles were excellent. The croquette was also tasty. The shop was small and long with a cute little counter seating section we got to sit in. Would go back!

I ordered my usual ramen and two sushi rolls to split with my partner, and ordered through here on yelp through DoorDash. Because of a system issue, my food was ordered twice (after paying it said there was a system error and it couldn't be completed and my cart was still full and after it happened twice I figured something was really wrong.) I had a sense something was weird, and had my partner call ahead to assure there was only ONE order, and otherwise cancel the second immediately, which he did. When I got there there were 2 orders, and the restaurant smilingly said it was already made and wanted to give me both bags. They REFUSED to cancel an order or to talk to DoorDash directly. I insisted on calling DoorDash in the store to make sure I got a refund because I couldn't afford to pay double for my food and risk it (what would be $84 for one bowl of soup and two sushi rolls.) After 45 minutes on the phone, and now cold soup and warm sushi to bring home, I was assured I would get my money back in "a few days." It has now been two months and I have not received a refund. I have been going here for years, and very upset on this lack of oversight on the restaurants part. I think they mostly interact with college students that are passive and they can manipulate. The restaurant said it was my fault because I used the ordering service they provided through yelp like I should have known better not to use it (and again, I've ordered online here many times!) They made my favorite ramen, but the countless hours I have now spent on very expensive cold soup and warm sushi-- I will not return until this is rectified. Other comparable restaurants that make ramen in other areas of the city of the same size will send me a full refund for a drink just for sending me the wrong flavor! it's so loud in the restaurant to even have a conversation or be on the phone to communicate when the issue happened (again college scene and club music.)

literally best vegetarian / vegan sushi in the city…read more okay to start, if your friend/date/family member is vegetarian or vegan, take them here. you both will have options. inside is cozy. service is really thorough and like a well oiled machine. for the vegetarians: The lime sinko roll is a classic avocado cucumber roll with a pickled vegetable layer on top and a thin slice of lime. the roll itself is great, simple, and a classic. my sister really likes the pickled vegetable and lime on top. I however, just peel it off. it's good but I prefer without it. the veggie on fire is what you need: probably their best roll on the menu. it's a cucumber avocado roll with a spicy zucchini sauce on top and crispy fried onions. it's messy. it's spicy. it's delicious. the sauce is orange in color, has tiny slivers of zucchini in it. I was hesitant to try it at first, but it's my favorite roll now. the vegan tuna roll: it's marinated tomato in place of tuna. i've never had fish or tuna, but it definitely tastes a lot more fishy. I guess that's the marinade. texture is kinda slimy? mushy? I feel like this might be the roll for someone who liked the taste of fish but went vegan and wants a replica. Not for me, but well made nonetheless. Appetizers The veggie gyoza: the gyoza itself is green, doesn't taste different to a non green dough, but visually that might matter to some people. sauce they serve on the side is very good. comes with a lot, at least 6 I think. tastes good. I don't recall any mushrooms in it and if there is they are not noticeable as i'm not the biggest fan of mushrooms. The Spring rolls: new to the menu, no meat, interesting? they are more soft inside than expected. not a lot of veggies. tiny. cute little app to share and try. they come with two. no mushrooms. I typically prefer a more veggie heavy and crispy spring roll but i'd order them again! Samosa: currently off the menu I think, but in case they add it back, this was very good. i'd order this over the spring rolls. they were crispier and I think it came with three. Miso Soup: it's a fine little bowl of miso. I typically always order miso at every Japanese restaurant to start my meal. i'm not picky about miso, but I will say, it's not my favorite miso. I still order it every time, just not the absolute best i've had. It has small little tofu chunks and some green leafs which I find are in most misos but I have no idea what they are. small little bowl. perfect to order first. edamame: very good I always order in the beginning and I have a bad habit of also ordering another for dessert. the veggie bun: I don't like mushrooms, but if you do you will love this. my sister loves it. it's not often there is a vegetarian option for a bun, so i'd get it. the sauce on it is very good. comes with two. Karaage: This is chicken, but my dad gets it and it looks very good and crispy. if I ate meat i'd order this. avocado salad: okay so the ginger dressing is a little different than typical ginger dressing which I like. it's unique and very good. the amount of avocado is amazing! it has to be a whole avocado. always fresh. the green leafs are a little big, so this can get messy fast if you're on a date and trying to be demure. this is a must order for three people in my family. every time we go it's three orders clock work. I tried sharing with my sister and we determined we cannot share this. honestly bigger than I expected and more filling than I expected. has some cut up tomato's and cucumbers inside as well. mochi: must get. one order is one mochi cut in half. so two people could share one mochi order. i'm team chocolate, but I heard strawberry is good. I think I tried all of their flavors but honestly can't remember them. I'll update as I try more of the vegetarian/vegan rolls
