i'm not a stickler for a specific nail technician, so i generally go wherever is most convenient and cost effective when i need to get my nails done. but nina nails is consistently great even if i don't to the same tech. their gel mani STAYS PUT, they're cheaper than any nail salon in the vicinity that i've been able to find, and they're efficient. also, they only charge five bucks to remove gel and do it very very quickly with a dremel. i recently went to another place that charged $10, took maybe 3x as long with the acetone-and-foil method, then filing straight on my nail bed. realized i should've just dealt with the extra traffic to get to nina nails again. definitely recommend this place! read more

One of the worst nail fixes I've ever had! Filed way too much on the sides, used acrylic when I'd mentioned I didn't want acrylic and it only lasted a week! I even mentioned on the phone prior to coming in and when I arrived I needed my nail fixing and still I had to mention again when my pedicure was almost over. The man who fixed (put a tip on) seemed like it was an after thought and didn't take much care. Hmmm...while I still say this is a decent place to get a basic mani/pedi at a bargain price, I probably won't return anytime soon. In two weeks time, the price of a manicure increased by $1, which is totally not a big deal except for the fact that I didn't appreciate the man who did my mani lying and saying that their manicure has "always" been $10 instead of just being honest and admitting they recently increased the price. If that's the case, then why does a picture show the menu price being $9? Lying is always a major, major turnoff. On my recent visit I got a regular pedicure since I never use those annoying "spa" chair massages, and beyond that, their "deluxe" pedi is just a basic pedi. However, I was seated in a rolling chair, which would have been comfortable except that it literally rolled all over the place until I finally stopped the lady doing my pedi and asked her to adjust the towel she placed under the wheel. Between balancing the rolling chair and trying not to relax my legs while she was doing my pedi because in doing so I would have sent the feather weight lady flying across the room, I was uncomfortable and in a little pain. With all that said, I was still very pleased with the finished product and I love the colors. However, for a $10 mani I can go to a spot in West LA that's much nicer (with air conditioning), conveniently located, and I don't have to play a miserable balancing act with a chair while getting my nails done. read more

Yeahhhhh nope..If you see my reviews you will see I have been searching for a steady nail salon for over 2 years now since I moved to this awful neighborhood im in. I only decided to go back to Nina Nails for 2 reasons 1) im going on a short business trip and was racking my brain trying to find a new place to try, it was starting to become overwhelming and 2) the main reason is because my feet are tender right now from overzealousness with the microplane on my part and as you see in my last review they did not even pumice my feet last time so I thought ok cool my tender feet will be fine. First of all, last time I went here was the winter so I didnt notice, its summer now and boy did I notice. THEY HAVE NO AIR CONDITIONING !! They have one large fan they have at the door pointing outwards to try and blow the hot air out. Does not work. I would never come here in the summer. I was seen pretty quickly. I always get basic pedicures everywhere bc I just dont see a need to pay extra money to jiggle in a chair. My problems didnt start until it was time for the polish. This is important BEFORE , BEFORE , BEFORE she started doing anything on my feet, she asked which color as she saw the three sitting there. I said all three, she giggled and said ok. She said nothing about an extra charge at that time. When it came time to polish she asked me how I wanted it and I told her. She then hits me with $3 extra for 3 colors. I say when did that start because I have gotten this here before. She just says yeah $3 extra for 3 colors. I say im not getting a design just color, she repeats herself. I tell her fine just dont color the one toe. Im thinking I have yellow at home Ill do it myself. For just a little backstory im not one of those nail design, charms etc, I keep it simple-ish by just choosing color. I have been getting this same style, just choosing different toes and numbers of toes for the color for 10 years now at shops from Mid CIty to El Segundo and have never been charged for the number of nail polishes chosen. Most often I just choose 2, occasionally Ill choose 3 it will be as in the pictures. She really tried to charge me $3 for that ONE TOE. I could get a whole bottle or 3 of cheap nail polish. She starts to paint them wrong leaving more toes not orange than requested, I told her again how I wanted it and to leave the toe she was going to charge me for off. Idk if she realized how stupid this was or what but she made a shh shh gesture and then painted the one toe yellow and did not charge me, but I was already in a foul mood by then. She also only used one coat of polish, never had that happen for a pedicure either. This time the lady did use a pumice stone, so much for my whole reason for coming here. My final complaint is she used too much toilet paper to make the between toe things and used a fan to dry my toes, so it wasnt until I got up to leave that I saw the toilet tissue had been blowing into my pinky toe the whole time ruining that polish. I painted it over myself as again I was in a bad mood by then and just wanted to leave thats why its running and looks a mess. Sorry so long so lets recap why I cant recommend this place 1) No air conditioning - hot as heII 2) Sometimes they pumice, sometimes they don't, too inconsistent 3) New $3 charge for 3 nail polish colors w/no design, even for 1 toe 4) Only uses one coat of nail polish 5) Bonus Complaint: Parking is terrible in this lot. Worst place ever!! I used to come here a lot when I was in college, and then I stopped coming. I decided to give this place a try again, and I really regret coming back here. Let me start by saying their customer service is awful. These people are so rude. I'm not even sure how they are still in business. When I walked in I asked for a full set with gel and a pedicure. The lady who did my nails made them super thick. I asked her several times to thin them out. She just kept working and ignored me. Then, when she went to put the polish on, and I couldn't stand it anymore. I asked her was there any way to thin out my nails because I really didn't like them. She then proceeds to slam down her supplies and let out a huge sigh and say I'll redo them. I was really taken back by an adult acting like this in public, so I just sat there and soaked my hands. After about 20 minutes she tells me to pay for my pedicure, so I did. At first they told me it was $10, then the lady told me $14. I didn't bother saying anything because I didn't want to argue. After removing the acrylic from my nails, she proceeds to rudely come up to me and ask if I'm waiting for a ride. I said no and asked her if she was still doing my nails. She rudely said no, so I just grabbed my purse and left. This place is literally the worst nail salon. I wouldn't go here unless you like horrible customer service and rude employees. I wanted to find a local nail salon to remove the beautiful gel nails I had done in Tokyo and get a new gel manicure. The total for the removal and a fresh gel manicure was $25 (plus $1 charge for credit card/debit use). The removal process went smoothly. My new gel manicure is much more basic looking than what I had previously, but the quality is on par with the cost. In other words, I'm not complaining! I'll see how the manicure holds up in the coming weeks. Next time I return, I will likely try the gel powder instead of the gel polish. In sum, an affordable, no-frills salon that gets the job done. Not a great spot, I'm doing this review for my girl who wants to warn others to go spend your money somewhere else unless you are in a rush and dont have time to go to your normal spot, I still wouldn't go though. I usually don't pay too much attention on my girls nails, I know what bad boyfriend but they usually always look nice she always goes to this Marina Del Rey spot which I guess she likes. I just left the shop. I went in to get a fill in and they told me to wait 20 minutes. I ended up waiting a whole hour. When it was finally my turn, he attempted to start on someone that just walked in the shop. I kindly reminded him that I was next. While doing my fill in, he decided to buff/file my real nails under my acrylic until there was barely any of my real nail left underneath. I asked him why he would do that and questioned why he made the decision to get rid of the nails that I had worked hard to grow out to this length and he couldn't answer. DO NOT GO TO THIS SALON! BAD COMMUNICATION WITH CUSTOMERS AND BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE. NAIL TECH DID NOT FINISH MY NAILS AND SAID "WE WILL NO LONGER SERVE YOU. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE" I attempted to get my nails done at this establishment and had a terrible experience. As I was getting my nails done I asked the woman if she would be able to straighten my nails. She did so with an attitude and we continued. As she was painting my nails I noticed she was not painting my nails closer to the cuticle the way I wanted them. I asked her if she can paint closer to my cuticles and she told me it would look ugly if she painted it the way I wanted it . Stating this is bad customer service and shows me that this woman does not want to paint my nails the way I (the customer) have asked to get my nails done. She continued to paint my nails and got nail polish on my cuticles. I asked her if she could clean the paint off my cuticles and she stated "this is the second coat". This had nothing to do with what I asked and I attempted to find another way to explain this to her showing her what I was trying to say. She continued saying "I don't know what your talking about" and "I have put the second coat". She became upset and told me they will no longer do my nails and to leave. This is very unprofessional and I was given no valid reason for my nails not being completed. The other worker attempted to tell me she would help and the person doing my nails said "no we won't serve you. Go somewhere else". This is not okay treatment to customers. There were also other technicians there and they looked yet no individual attempted to step in to explain to her what I was trying to say or be a buffer to this language barrier. My bestie and I were looking for a place to get our nails done after work and near it too. Of course I logged onto my Encyclopedia (Yelp) and found this place on here. Being familiar with the area I knew exactly where it was at. So off we went in need of some serious TLC for our pretty little fingers. It was nice and empty when we got there, everyone was friendly, and it was clean. We picked our nail colors after like 10 min of debating which one and it began. I loved the lady who worked on me- I forgot to ask her name but she was super gentle on my cuticles-I tend to bleed easily. I'm not one to update my reviews after every visit, but I have to write about these last two visits! Jessie did my pedicure today. She scrubbed the bottom of my feet without me asking. You might think that's a good thing, but I left with painful cuts on the skin above my heels!! When I brought it to her attention, she didn't apologize and said in a matter of fact way, "you have rough skin!" This wasn't the first time either! Last time, she cut one of my toenails so short that I bled. I know they say beauty is pain, but a pedi shouldn't cost this much discomfort! Especially when you're the one paying for it! This is my go to nail salon cause Ivy is the best when it comes to pedicures. Only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because it gets really warm in there and they don't do anything about it and the wait can be really long. The shop is usually very clean and the people are usually very friendly. If not friendly it's usually cause they are SO busy and focused on their work. Sometimes it's hard to find parking cause the lot is shared with a lot of other businesses and people don't know how to park. I would say make an appointment or show up 15 mins before they open and wait for them to show up and rush in lol. I love their massage chairs and their vast variety of polish colors. read more
