But hey, Indian food definitely gets better with travel time. Anyway, I ordered the lamb korma and a side of cottage cheese naan. The lamb portions were pretty generous, with big hunks of meat. I choose "spicy", but I feel like they dulled it down. Still a very flavorful almond curry. Came with a side of basmati rice. The cottage cheese naan was also great for soaking up some curry, or for eating by itself. I don't think I've ever had cheesy naan, but if I see it in the future, I'll definitely order it again. Since my first review, not much has changed. The staff are all great, and the food is still tops for Indian in my section of Brooklyn. They'll even make dishes without cream if you ask. This order is for their take out. We got the chicken tikka masala and the creamed spinach entrees. Both were very good and delicious. I really like their rice. However, I felt that the amount of food was much smaller than other Indian places I have had and the price was higher. This restaurant seems to have great lunch specials though as they are trying to attract diners. I saw a sign that prices are half off during lunch. read more

This is the only Indian restaurant in NYC that I've eaten at in-person more than I've gotten take-out from. It's a tiny place that's never busy inside, but then again few Indian restaurants ever are since most of the business comes from take-out/delivery. Nimbooda's servers are incredibly hospitable and often bring out a little amuse bouche before the meal comes out (another perk to going in-person). I love the food. My favorites include the samosa chaat, chicken korma, and kandhari naan. If you have a sweet tooth and want a twist on your naan, get the kandhari naan! It's a little sweet and super buttery and SO GOOD. BYOB. Winey Neighbor is just up the street. And if you forget to bring something beforehand, they're cool about you running out to grab a bottle. We went to this place after work on our way home. Did not regret it. Although 1 friend didn't like the food it was still a decent experience. The rest of us liked it so it's not a big deal. It was great. The place is small but the decoration is indeed eye catching. The service was smooth and fast. The music and light were perfect for the nighttime. Enjoyed all the food. I am definitely going to ask for a little more spice next time. I have nut allergies, so I indicated in my online order and I felt fine. I am always hesitant with Indian even though it's my favorite because sometimes I've gotten sick after being assured there were no nuts. So I'll definitely try more dishes. It's just your standard delivery Indian, but it was all delicious. My only issue was for the price too much of the lemon mango pickle was hard rind/pit. Most of the tables were empty, but the host/server/busboy was busy answering the phone and managing orders for take-out. Went there for dinner on a Saturday night. While some old Indian restaurants have that 1980's look. This is a new modern restaurant with great ambiance. We ordered Chicken Tikka masala, eggplant, Cauliflower w/ potatoes, spinach w/ lamb. The entrees with vegetables all excellent especially the spinach. Chicken Tikka masala they make it with a tomato yogurt sauce. I generally like it with a cream sauce. I think on their menu they call it Chicken Korma. The service is very good and attentive. One of the best I have seen in a long time in a Indian restaurant. This is a well run restaurant. Even on a Saturday night when all the tables were taken, there was no pressure to rush us out. The patrons were a good mixture of Indian and westerners. So you can tell the food is authentic, otherwise most Indians avoid restaurants that just cater to the western palate. It is BYOB. So you save a lot of money on drinks. It makes it very affordable to dine here. read more

How neighborly is that? But the food...the food! My favorite is the Chicken Tikka Masala. It is the best I have had in the city. The Basmati rice is so fragrant. It is the real deal. You must, as well, get some Papadam with their fresh chutneys. You can bring your own wine and there is no cork charge. Coincidentally, there is a fine liquor store across the street. These folk have treated me well, treated me like family --- have given me a free rice pudding with my takeout order. These folk are the real deal. We found this place and when we ordered, we were happy to see that the delivery came really quick, faster than expected- like 30 minutes! We ordered: The chicken tikka masala: the sauce was delicious but I felt that the chicken was a little dry. The cauliflower: pretty good The plain and garlic naan: this made me sad- the naan was stale and there was no crisp at all! :( Maybe we just picked a bad day, hopefully it'll be better if we order from here the next time. read more

GREAT PLACE!! Nice & cozy & the staff were very friendly & attentive. And the dining area has a wonderful scent of spices coming from the kitchen. Food was incredible! Scent is just as important as taste. One of my group hadn't had Indian before & she was very impressed with everything we ordered -- we each ordered a dish & shared them. I can wholeheartedly recommend their keema naan. I also sampled the garlic naan & was pleased to see they didn't let the garlic overwhelm it. Dipping sauces were great too, tasted homemade! The paneer tandoori was a nice appetizer -- lighter than I expected & had a great tomato dipping sauce. We all tried four different dishes & they were all delicious: the chicken korma was mine & had a great flavor -- maybe could have had some more almonds but I was quite pleased. I can also recommend the chicken tikka masala, the biryani with shrimp & a vegetarian dish of okra that was really great too. I ordered the balchao shrimp and chicken malai kabab. The shrimp was sweet and filled with food coloring. Balchao is supposed to be spicy, but there was almost no spicy rub to this. I ate at Nimbooda last week with my buddy Ashley since we were looking for a place to meet that was an equally reasonable distance (via train) from Bed-Stuy and Ditmas Park. Nimbooda was smack dab in the middle! Although small, Nimbooda was able to easily accommodate our party of 2 without too much of a wait. It looks like the place can occupy 20-25 people. On a Monday night they were about 80% full. It seems like they have about 3-4 employees. 2 or 3 in the kitchen and 1 waiter. That being said service wasn't painfully slow but there were times when we wondering if the waiter would ever find us. I hadn't seen my friend in some time, so we could keep ourselves entertained in the meantime. The BYOB option is a definite plus. I seem to have come by very few in New York, so that was cool. We ordered samosas, samosa chaat, dahl makhni and my friend got an unspecified chicken dish. Everything tasted as it should and the portions were enough to take home, so I don't have any complaints. If I was in a rush I probably wouldn't be too happy about the service, but I did have to give the waiter props for holding down 10-12 tables during our dining time so I tipped 22%. read more

Meh. Ordered chicken tikka masala through Uber Eats. The Chicken tikka masala was unseasoned white meat chicken cooked in a sugary bland tomato sauce. No onion, green peppers, and barely any cream. The rice was clumped together and the rice pudding had non of the raisins, almonds, or cinnamon the menu stated it should. Awful representation of Indian food. We had much higher expectations because of the high rating on Yelp. Perhaps their food is better in the restaurant than for delivery. We ordered chicken chettinad and aloo gobi, which both came with basmati rice through delivery.com. First the delivery was quite fast. We didn't expect our food for an hour, but it came just under 45 minutes. Both the chicken chittinad and the aloo gobi tasted fine, but a little bland for Indian food. The complexity of spices and layering of flavor weren't present. We were satisfied with our food for take-out, but our search for the perfect Indian delivery continues. read more

I've had way better Indian food and this is all way in Queens, sure wish Rajmahani delivered to Brooklyn. 1. If I wanted just sauce I'd make it or get it at the store. The lamb korma & chicken tikka masala, its like they stayed at a distance, threw bits of meat and whatever made it in that what you got. 2. The garlic and cheese naan might as well had been pizza dough, that's how thick it was, naan is supposed to be thinner. 3. Want to warm up and escape a Saturday snow storm? Why not try the spicy curry delicacies Nimbooda has to offer! Despite the fact that we were actually quite cold when we went here during the past snow storm, it was quickly remedied by their delicious and perfectly spiced food! I love coming here, now especially since I started a non-dairy and gluten-free diet. You have SO many options that you just can't get anywhere else! Of course I can't help but "cheat" and gobble up their delicious garlic naan bread. No regrets here. And of course they start your meal off with these complimentary and delightful crackers paired with different spiced sauces that are all so good. You can't resist! So far I have tried their chicken curry and the Tandoori chicken. Both amazing dishes and yes both chicken...I like what I like! The cauliflower Manchurian is a favorite appetizer to get as well. The service is always excellent and the restaurant is a bit on the small side but nicely set and decorated. Sometimes that special someone comes into your life unexpectedly, and while you don't realize it at first, you wonder what life was ever like before them. Thank you Nimbooda for coming into my neighborhood and into my life. I'd been eyeing it for awhile but hadn't been inside. Finally I took my mother and girlfriend out here one day to chow down on some Indian which my girlfriend said she hadn't had in awhile, and my mom says she wasn't the biggest fan even though I remember taking her out for Indian before on her request. Now usually if my mom starts ranting and asking me a thousand ridiculous questions about Game of Thrones (No, Mom. Jon Snow is not a zombie) it can work up some of my nerves, but no worries. Because this place is BYOB. After a couple of glasses my edge is off and she can ask as many ridiculous questions as she wants. We had a few appetizers. Starting off with some samosa chaat, which was unbelievable. Crispy okra, very flavorful. The chef even threw in some cauliflower manchurian, how sweet. And you can have an Indian meal without some naan. All the starters are great! For the main dishes we had the tandoori chicken, lamb vindaloo, and some alo gobi, which is potatoes and cauliflower with some spices. Everything was incredible. There was a party in my mouth and everyone was invited. It was some of the best Indian I ever had. It was so much more than that though. The service was above and beyond. Thank you Nimbooda. Love supporting new businesses on Washington ave, so when Nimbooda opened up just down the street last week I couldn't wait to give it a try. Stopped in for lunch today and was not disappointed. We had a GREAT meal. Each dish was delicious and there was a ton of food (I'm still eating leftovers as I type.) The service was perfect and decor = lovely. A couple of weeks ago, I decided to give the the new Indian joint in town a try for lunch, and was surprised. From the first bite, I noticed, as you probably will too, there's something more nuanced about the flavors here than other neighborhood Indian. By the time I left, I was so enamored that I started telling people. My parents came to town, I brought them here. I just persuaded a group of friends that this was the best Indian in town, we dined last night. Everyone was floored. Two things I've learned in my 3 visits: 1. The kitchen is run by two chefs from top Indian restaurants, Junoon, and Devi. Pretty sweet. 2. Even if you know your way around an Indian menu, you'll see loads of dishes here you've never tried. Ask for recommendations. The new sauces I've tried have been incredible. Recently, an authentic mexican spot migrated to Washington ave from the Bronx and made big news on the blogs. Then a beloved Thai restaurant from Elmhurst opened here; also big news. Nimbooda deserves to be recognized in the same canon. read more

Bland, watery curries with only a few pieces of meat served with undercooked breads (the paratha tasted entierly of raw flour). They even managed to send warm soda. Definitely pass on this one for delivery, especially since it was so expensive. Also, we asked for only one thing specifically on our online order, putting it every single field: No cilantro (my wife is allergic). Tiny pieces of it were mixed all through our korma, making it impossible for her to have half our meal. They called to confirm our apartment number, but didn't mention it.
