Niles Donuts makes super fresh donuts at their corner shop: my go-to is the cinnamon twist ($2.75) - it's sky-high fluffy and yeasty goodness with a light sprinkle of cinnamon and a crisp thin glaze, so just a touch of sweetness. Plus, it's large enough for 2+ servings. It's your typical simple utilitarian donut shop with two booths to eat-in. It's very clean & tidy. The ladies are quick and courteous. There's always at least one or two people in line ahead of you, no matter what time of day it is. Which means it's good! Get there early by 10/10:30 am: breakfast sandwiches are definitely all gone by then and the donut case is down to maybe a third full. The early bird gets the best & freshest donuts! They come out warm if you get there early enough (5-7 am). Sometimes they have tamales and fried egg rolls for sale, which are delicious too. You can probably call in to order them. I decided to be adventurous and branch out to try something different. The chocolate frosted chocolate cake donut ($1.75) was medium chocolatey, fresh, a little bit crisp, and lightly sweet. Will get it again when I'm in the mood for chocolate and cake donuts. The apple fritter ($2.75) had a few chunks of apple, slightly crisp, a little cinnamon and sweet, fried perfectly (not oily), but it was spread-out flat. I like mine with lots of crags almost crunchy, filled with apples & cinnamon, and lofty & yeasty. I'll pass on it in the future, unless it looks more craggily and dome shaped next time. Docked a half star. I got a maple bar filled with custard cream ($2.75) and it was giant, filled to the brim from both sides! The filling was a vanilla pudding and they were so generous, it almost burst when I bit into it. The maple flavor was fragrant and the donut was yeasty good, but the filling had a funny aftertaste - an astringent bitter like artificial sweetener. Sorry, I had to dock another half star for this misstep. Next time I'll just get the maple bar plain ($2.50). I noticed the prices are higher by about 50¢, if you order online through DoorDash or other apps. Also if you buy a half dozen or more donuts, the pink box is free. Otherwise, it's 50¢. read more

A little update since it's been some time! It was an early morning and we needed a donut treat. Niles Donuts was on route back home so we decided why not? Parking in the lot is fine, it's small but there are some folks that are a little questionable roaming about. We went in, was greeted in a friendly manner. There seem to be a lot of regulars as we let someone go in front of us as we were still deciding and they knew them right away. They had a pretty wide selection of donuts. We got a chocolate old fashioned and a maple donut. And paid by cash as I believe there's a minimum for card. Inside it's pretty no frills typical donut shop. I devoured my old fashioned when I got home. It was crispy and crunchy on the outside and soft in the inside. Good flavor. I've bumped up the rating as it's definitely good. Solid donuts and turnovers served fresh at this mom and pop shop in this little rundown corner of town. Yes, it's not the most welcoming looking dingy lot, but the lot is frequented by locals and commuters looking to grab a quick snack so there's a lot of churn and the food is quite good. From the outside, Niles Donuts looks nothing spectacular but when you enter, you'll be immersed in a clean establishment with friendly staff and great looking baked goods and pastries ready for immediate consumption. There's also coffee still sitting hot on the side and smoothies and frappes just a blend away. If you have more appetite than a sweet treat, you'll have the option to order breakfast or lunch sandwiches served on bagels or huge croissants. They also have egg rolls with chicken, pork, or shrimp filling to round out your hearty meal. The highlights for me in terms of the sweets have to be their abundance of turnovers sprinkled with rock sugar and filled with a variety of jam flavors. Their chocolate frosted donuts are also very good. The chocolate is rich but not too sweet, however like all chocolate, they don't survive the heat well so on a hot day, you may opt for something less melty. The prices are reasonable if you factor in the size and quality of their donuts. Their raised and cake donuts are delicious. Overall, the donuts here are great and the service is quick and efficient. The location isn't the best but most likely you'll be in and out and on your way to enjoy your goodies elsewhere. I found this place on a drive by going to my doctor's appointment. This place is nested in a small strip mall. If you are not stopped on the intersection and looked around, you can miss this place. You can get VIETNAMESE COFFEE and EGGROLLS here! Small classic donut shop right in the small plaza turning into Niles. This is the closest place I can think of that has "authentic" Vietnamese coffee like something you would get at a cafe in East San Jose. Its a delicious, cold, and vibrant way to get your day started. The eggrolls were not my preference, I thought they might be like Vietnamese eggrolls but they were more chinese-takeout style with cabbage. They do have ground meat in them and come with the sweet-and-sour dipping sauce but these are my least favorite style of eggrolls though they were crispy and packed with ingredients. Donuts were OK, nothing was wrong with them at all and they are way better than anything you can get at grocery stores but there are better local donut places. Holy smokes have you seen the size of their breakfast sandwiches! It's bigger than my hand. Now I'm not saying size is the only thing that matters here lol it's much more than that. We ordered the SAUSAGE, EGG & CHEESE Croissant. The croissant was so fresh and immediately had this sweet buttery aroma, and then they stuff it "edge" to "edge" sausage & egg people. I think it was under $7 too and ONE actually fed two people. I was so pleasantly surprised and will skip any other breakfast sandwich on the go options and grab them here when it's one of those days instead. We came here hungry and pretty much wanted to try everything, as they sell an interesting combination of menu items... donuts, sandwiches, and egg rolls! Oh yeah, lotto tickets too! Yup we tried them all. The donuts were fresh and delicous. Our croissant sandwiches were served hot, with tasty turkey and sausage and melted cheese stuffed into soft and light croissants, and were pretty large in size. The chicken eggroll had good consistency, slightly crispy, and filled with flavorful ingredients (a bit different than what I'm used to, they were thin and long, I'm pretty sure Thai eggrolls). And the scratcher ticket, well I didn't win, but it was cool finding a music scratcher here and fun to play (and they just added the purchase to my credit card payment, unlike many other places that only accept cash for lotto). We also got a couple bottled beverages, and took everything to go and had a picnic in the park, though they do have a few tables inside the shop for dine-in. The workers provided instant service and were friendly and efficient. Parking was easy too, as they have a small parking lot. I have to say...a review of this place is way overdue by me. I have gone and picked up donuts on a couple of occasions (I know they are bad for you, but after running a 90 mile week along with some hill sprints I am not even counting in the total mileage equation, I deserved some fats and cholesterol). As always the donuts are great. Never had a problem with them (they always seem fresh). What sticks out the most for me is that the people working there are always cheerful, nice, and full of smiles. Stopped here to grab donuts and a breakfast sandwich yesterday around 11:30 AM. Since about 6-7 PM last night I have had one of the worst cases of food poisoning I've ever experienced. It took until the middle of the night for me to drink fluids without vomiting, and around 12 PM today nibbling on saltines was the first time my body could hold down any food. This is now my go to for Thai Ice Tea, coffee or a quick snack, donut or sandwich. They also have a large variety of drinks and donuts. They even have smoothies here. I tried the avocado and it was yummy! My favorite are their egg rolls. The donuts are always soft and fresh. They close early, I believe 3pm so if you get there at 2-3 they might be low on variety of donuts. They bake fresh every morning. I even ordered a 24 pack for my baby shower, they're so good. I love this place because the people running it are super sweet, and their food is hella quality. When I first went here a few years back, a super sweet older couple were the ones that helped me out. Today, two ladies helped me out that were friendly as well (They teased me because I had to come back inside after I was already in my car because I forgot to get a drink lol). I bought a B.L.T. with everything on it. It was so thicc that when I pulled it out of the bag to eat while I was driving, everything spilled out and fell on the floor of my car. SADNESS. :( Luckily, the other half remained unharmed and whole. The half that dropped on the floor was consumed anyways because I'm not about to waste all that bacon and (some) greens! But yeah, once again, super quality food and I really enjoyed my sandwich. They loaded it up with provolone, fresh veggies, and the croissant was so so fresh mmmm, my fave part of the sandwich. I got my Mom a honey ham (I'm not a fan) sandwich, with everything on it as well, and she couldn't stop talking about how it was very good and how she loved it!! She talked about how the greens were fresh, crispy and had a kick to it, how the bread was fresh, and she just kept saying "That sandwich was very good!" probably like 20x otw home hahaha. I just left this place with my husband & our toddler. We ordered 2 donuts, super simple. I read all the reviews and thought we'd try it. HORRIBLE, STALE and rock hard! The chocolate they use is nasty and tastes cheap. I took the donuts back to the counter and the "lady" said "hold on let me get .....(whatever her name is". She comes out with the dirtiest look on her face, tells me there's nothing wrong with her donuts. I told her they're stale and the chocolate doesn't taste right. She started screaming at me to never come back. My daughter got upset that she was yelling. DON'T worry we WON'T be coming back for your NASTY donuts.
