David -- he is what went well with my visit. He was ray of sunshine and just really really sweet. He welcomed our group of 11 with open arms. Apologized in advance for an anticipated slow service because it was lunch time on a beautiful Sunday but he didn't even need to do that because we were enjoying ourselves. The food was good. It's great that they got their liquor license and tried something different with the menu, but honestly they need to bring back the sandwiches! Little local spot, came here for a date night. Solid food excellent beverage selection and a friendly attentive staff. I really like coming here and I don't come enough despite it being really close. I love the place! Discovered it around the holidays. Apparently this place has been around for a long time but it just switched owners and they re-vamped it around Fall of 2025. Has a local bar type vibe but the drinks are phenomenal. They caught me and my partner by surprise. And also everything we've eaten so far has been delicious and not bar food quality! We came to Rae Rae's inside Joe's Corner for Fremont's Restaurant Week 2026. My husband ordered their first Manhattan Flight of the event. He loved it so much we actually came back for him to get another Black Manhattan. We also got to try their food. The garlic fries were good. Decent portion size. The nachos were disappointing. There was not enough cheese and it was served on the cold side. The last thing we ordered was the pastrami sandwhich. Unfortunately it was pretty lack luster too. It wasn't what I expected but in a good way! It was so casual, people had their drinks and walked around taking to each others. You order food and drink at the counter and someone will bring you the food but you have to grab your own drink. Seems like everyone knows each other here. I was not lucky to get table outside because there was a Bd party but I got seats at the bar in the front which that would do. Joe's apparently has a new owner, but I never went there before, so I can't compare. The Wife and I stopped in for a late lunch, and found some items on the menu. I ordered fish and chips with a Guinness, and she had a chicken pesto sandwich, which had nothing on the side unless you ordered it separately. Both underwhelmed. I had two pieces of fish, one of which had a chewy, hard to bite through section, while the chicken pesto had very little flavor. The chicken wasn't well cooked. The waffle fries were unevenly cooked. The Guinness was nice. The service was very enthusiastic. The gentleman emphasized the freshness of the pesto and other ingredients. Fresh perhaps, but not tasty, unfortunately. The place was very clean, and smelled like fresh varnish had recently been applied. Just needs a kitchen upgrade. read more

I had a disappointing experience at Joe's Corner and feel compelled to share so others know what to expect. We waited nearly an hour for a sandwich, fish and chips, and nuggets. To make matters worse, the coffee we ordered never arrived. The owner did apologize, but that doesn't excuse how poorly the business is run. This is not a place I'd recommend for families, large parties, or even just a quick bite. When I asked for a refund because we simply couldn't wait any longer, I mentioned that I would write an honest review--and was accused of blackmail. For the record, I would have shared my experience regardless, as I believe others deserve to know. It's really sad to see this kind of service in my hometown with such a charming downtown area. Hopefully, improvements will be made, but for now, I can't recommend Joe's Corner. read more

The food here is not very good. I ordered the queso dip and it was literally Tostito's cheese from a jar. It would be too easy for them to put even a little bit of effort into producing a quality queso dip that involves real cheese and beans. Nothing on the kitchen or staff, they were great. They were nice enough to take it off our check. However, the owner's of this place have a standard of doing the bare minimum in terms of the dishes they are producing. The ambience is great. Fellow owners of pittys please read. I am a local & regular at this establishment so it truly has disappointed me to receive the treatment I did on my last visit recently. It was a super hot day unexpectedly so me and my pup sat inside to cool off. I ordered two drinks and a meal while I worked from my laptop and had my support animal by my side. I had already been sitting inside for almost 2 hours when the owner came inside took 1 look at my dog and instantly make a disgusted face & starts commenting on how aggressive pit bulls are and that my dog looks scary and tells me that we can't be here. Me and the staff working there are all telling him he's extremely sweet but he was so stubborn he didn't want to hear it all because he's a pit bull. I told him he is a registered support animal in the state of California and has been trained. I pointed to the vest but he disregarded and dismissed me. This obviously made me feel extremely unwelcomed and uncomfortable. I packed my food to go , chugged my drink to get out of there as fast as I could to avoid being confrontational. To the owner you should be ashamed for judging us based off your own opinion of pit bulls . Went to Joe's today, 9/21. Figured it would be fun to take the kids to Niles, especially with the 680 road construction in San Ramon keeping us from a lunch in Danville First off, Niles is a cool spot. Great farmers market, cool little shops, antique stores, etc. Beautifully rolling hills, and a nice drive on HW84 from Pleasanton Unfortunately our experience at Joe's wasn't the best. $81 bucks, before tip, for an individual flat bread pizza, a turkey pesto panini, kids chicken tenders, a soft pretzel, one drakes 1500 pale ale, and 2x kids sodas. Definitely cheaper to go to Danville Sadly the food quality further disappointed. Kids chicken tenders were literally from a bag (think Safeway chicken nugget amalgam) that were baked and soggy. They were supposed to come with apple sauce, but none was provided. Pretzel was clearly a frozen pretzel that was microwaved along with some canned cheese sauce. My wife managed to eat half of her turkey pesto sandwich (no side provided) and I ate half of my bbq chicken flat bread. As a previous reviewer noted, it seems like they cook little to anything at the restaurant, relying on microwaves and precooked food (a la the chicken on my flatbread). Rarely am I compelled to write reviews, especially negative ones. I really wanted to like this place. There were tons of great reviews so my husband and I decided to give this place a try while in Niles this weekend. We should have paid closer attention to the review dates. It seems in the past year or so, they've really gone downhill and diners have had mostly negative experiences. From reading through the reviews, it seems like there has been a change in management. We followed the instructions and scanned the menu from the QR code. This menu was quite different from the menu shown on Yelp (the photos or in the view menus section), on their current website and with even more differences from the hard copy menu they kept at the register. The menu was very simple. Salads, a couple pizzas and a variety of sandwiches plus a few appetizers / bar bites. Nothing to write home about but all we wanted was a quick easy lunch so this should have been fine. What was strange was nothing on the menu seemed to require cooking. I'm not even sure they have a grill or cooktop. We heard / smelled nothing coming from the kitchen and we were sitting pretty much right outside the kitchen door. I'm guessing most of their food is frozen and then warmed on a foreman type grill or in a convection oven. I ordered a turkey pesto panini and my husband ordered a fried chicken sandwich. The only sides offered were potato salad or coleslaw. They did have fish and chips on the menu so we asked if ordering a side of fries was possible and we were told it was not. Totally understand if they don't allow substitutions or ordering off menu, but I really wondered if they even had fries at this point. We both ordered ice teas and the server brought them out right away and then disappeared to the back. They didn't ask if we wanted any sweetener/sugar so I went and got it myself from the coffee station we passed when walking into the restaurant. My husband had contemplated ordering a beer. There were a few that sounded interesting that he had never tried, but was turned off immediately by the signage stating they don't offer sampling. I get not letting costumers try all the different beers, but if someone wants a taste before purchasing (a super overpriced) pint, then I really don't see an issue. I'm not super knowledgeable about beers/pricing but according to my husband these were about $3-4 + higher than prices we see in SF, which seemed pretty steep. Then came the wait. 40 minutes for 2 sandwiches and pre-packaged sides. In that 40 minutes, no one came to ask if we needed anything else, apologize for the wait or let us know that the food would be right out. We saw two pretzels with cheese sauce being brought out to a couple seated after us. We missed this on the QR menu and it wasn't listed on the print, Yelp or website menu. While we were waiting we also noticed a sign at the register saying that no coin change would be given and if not paying in exact change, your bill would be rounded up to the next dollar. This has to be illegal, right? When the food finally came, my husband noticed immediately that the bacon was definitely microwave bacon. He had also asked for no ranch sauce on his sandwich and it came drenched in the sauce. Still, the food was fine but also something that was reminiscent of a hospital cafeteria. Nothing seemed like it was actually fresh or made from scratch. We're nearly positive that the "chef" we saw in back was a teenage girl, which checked out with the food served. Again, it wasn't bad just not what we were expecting. It seemed like all Costco frozen items that were simply heated up. The coleslaw was barely dressed and the potato salad was super bland. Like not even salt and pepper. We didn't see a server again at all. I got up myself again and went to the service counter to get a couple of salt and pepper packets since nothing was available on the tables. Since we paid at the register when ordering, we didn't need to wait for a bill. But I only ate half my sandwich and wanted to take the rest to go. We waited and waited and no one ever came back to check on us, so I wrapped my sandwich in a few napkins and we left. It's such a cute place with so much potential. We hope the (new?) owners read these recent reviews and take notes. I know the restaurant industry is tough but at minimum you should provide better, more attentive service and serve quality food -- not frozen Costco items -- if you want to stay afloat. We were not expecting four star dining but did expect a little bit more for the money. read more

Definitely just found the cutest little lunch spot! We were actually looking for breakfast, but we stumbled across this little gem. I am starting to realize that I don't mind going inside to order and paying for everything ahead of time. Then I can just leave after the meal is complete. Joe's request that after you are seated, you go inside and order. All of the ladies working today were super sweet. I ordered the pesto arugula flatbread with a Pinot noir to wash it down. It was delicious! RIP to the flatbread.. There were no surviving slices. I felt like I should have been dressed like The Little Tramp and waddled down Niles Boulevard with my dusty derby and bendable cane looking for a free meal from the blowhard owner with the handlebar mustache only to be thrown out on my keester. The faded blue vintage neon sign, outdoor bar stools, and American flag appeared to be authentic to the pre-WWI homefront setting for a Keystone Kops comedy (photo: http://bit.ly/2ITMmJO). When I entered, it turned out to be set up as a tavern serving bar bites like sandwiches, chicken wings, and jalapeño poppers, so I ordered at the counter per their instructions. The cashier appeared immediately confused by my order because they bought a new food ordering system. Like it was my problem. Anyway, I ordered the $7.95 In the Park Salad, a plate of mixed greens, canned mushrooms, mixed olives, tomato, cucumber, and blue cheese. On the side was a big cup of strangely sweet Italian dressing which tasted like it was poured out of a shaken Good Seasons beaker (photo: http://bit.ly/2GZHLVO). 4/19/25 - Decided to come here after a hike when we were starving - we left starving because most of the food was inedible. The fries (and my fish) tasted like burnt, old oil and none of us could get past one bite. I had to douse my fish in hot sauce to be able to eat it as I was too hungry to leave it. The salads are one of the only gluten free options on the menu and the one my mom got barely had any toppings and very obviously packaged chicken. Nothing fresh. The service was iffy, the entire staff seemed really nervous and hectic despite it not being that busy. We had to go inside and order at the bar, and the woman who took our order kept having to run back into the kitchen whenever we had a question. She also would oddly help other customers in the middle of taking our order so it took about 3x as long as it should have. Luckily we sat outside and it was a beautiful day, but the inside is dark and depressing. Overall, we really wanted to support a family owned business and give them a fair chance, but there are so many things to be improved and the food being inedible makes this an absolute no for us. :( read more
