Joe's Corner has a great location! Nice people watching, especially on Saturdays during the Farmer's Market (9-2pm). Lots of Tik-Tok-ers out two weeks ago when I lunched with my MiL. Not my favorite thing to have three feet from my table, but that's not the restaurant's fault by any means. My MiL and I both had the fried chicken sandwich. The fried chicken was not at all crispy- it seemed more oven baked or reheated. It was okay, but not great. I tried to order an iced tea, but the tea was so over brewed it was very dark and very bitter. Two Sweet'nLows didn't even make a dent in the overpowering tea. But they were kind enough to swap it out for a can of Coke. They do serve the cans with a glass of ice, but the top of my Coke can was quite dirty. read more

We moved here right before covid so today was the first time we were able to try Joe's. It's local to us, so we actually walked here for lunch. My hubs and I love Bronco Billy's and Skilletz, but today they were packed, so my 7yo and I landed at Joe's bc it was empty at lunchtime. First of all, the guy working behind the counter couldn't have been sweeter. Just a nice guy, very helpful. But the main reason I'm giving a good review is bc my 7yo, who is extremely picky, really enjoyed her lunch there. We ordered her a cheese Flatbread pizza and it was perfect for her. Slightly crispy, lots of cheese, 'hidden' tomatoes within the sauce beneath the cheese...it was all perfect! She doesn't like Bronco Billy's so finding this place was great. She also likes Buffalo wings. Not spicy, but the Buffalo flavor. At Joe's they are perfect, non-saucy, mild Buffalo wings. I ordered a Rueben sandwich and upgraded to potato salad, which is something I never order, but sometimes it's a good choice when it is homemade. And it tasted homemade and delicious. The rueben itself had a generous portion of corn beef, but I could've used more mustard and saurkraut. The bread was slightly overtoasted for my taste, but still good! read more

In the past, I used to make time to have lunch here whenever I was in town. Over the past year, I've stopped in 2x and didn't have the best experiences. I didn't think much about it but I went in again recently and had the worst experience. To me, the best part about a small town (Niles) is the small town happiness. The current owners, in my experience, doesn't agree. I watched them tell someone "I don't need your business, don't come back." I didn't hear the entire conversation but I heard enough to hear the lady trying to explain that she didn't order any drinks but there were quite a few on her bill. This was an older lady probably in her mid/late 60's, early 70's with another lady that was similar. Anyone who would raise their voice at a customer, a more mature customer at that, does not warrant my previous 5 star review that was truly written years ago when the previous owners were there. Some employee approached me and my husband asking for the table arguing that we could only use the service for just 45 minutes, I don't know how much time we had been there, but it is a terrible thing to think that someone put a clock in your time on a table, I mean WHY? I was about to order a second round of beer and food. I had explored the website, Yelp, and Facebook page. I can not find that so told policy, this guy was incredibly rude, plus his disposable mask was almost ragged, and he was virtually shoulder to shoulder with me, which is completely unacceptable due to the COVID rules right now, so I have to recognize that spiked my nerves. It's an interesting crowd in here on a Sunday afternoon. Some family, some bikers, some basketball fans, young lovers and me. The main room in the place feels like an old bar and the selection of taps is more than adequate to pass the test. The front feels like a coffee shop and the selection of pastries in the counter pass muster. We called ahead and ordered 5 different sandwiches. I got to them all out, all of then were delicious. Ecen though we called ahead it took a while to get our order out. Understandable, they were on the busy side. It was a great break from the weekend work day to sit and wait. We were skeptical when we walked in at 5pm and there was only 1 person eating (and it was a soup that they messed up the order on) I cannot tell you how upset I was with my experience at Joe's Corner. The staff was very slow and confused. They brought my kids meals out with no sides and thE server told us that he didn't think it came with sides, he had to go in the back to check. Not to mention there was only 8 people in the restaurant at dinner time and only 5 of us were eating. I paid an extra $2.50 for extra meat and my Reuben sandwich was pathetic looking. Our server seemed very confused in general so I didn't bother questioning whether or not there was actually extra meat on my sandwich. I was actually a small amount for a regular sandwich. I've been coming to Joe's for the past couple of years and as every year goes by... A star goes away. This place used to be one of my favorite spots to grab a bite and hang with friends. It used to have amazing customer service, but man, things have changed. First, the prices have skyrocketed. Don't try to compensate for the fact that you are trying to keep up with everyone else. I used to spend under $10 for a delicious sandwich, a side, chips, AND a drink. Now you guys want to charge me close to $20? This is NOT a high-end place, this is a place for a quick lunch (quick as in hella slow). Talking about timing. It takes 30 minutes for a sandwich with no one else in the shop? Came here for a few beers, they have a good craft beer selection. Food selection was okay, I watched the people make sandwiches without gloves which grossed me out. The place was grimy and could use some cleaning especially around the outside bar. When I was sitting inside looking out there were tons of cobb webbs where my legs were which grossed me out so I moved inside. They also didnt have AC so it was pretty warm in there. Walked over about 8pm on a weeknight for dinner and a couple beers. Live music playing; very cool. Walked in and found a seat at the bar. Place was crowded and the live band was wayyyyyy too loud. Had to wait a few minutes for the bartender but that's to be expected when it is crowded. I asked if they had a double IPA. She pointed toward the taps and started talking. I couldn't hear a word over the loud and minimally talented band. Told her I couldn't hear her and she turned around and walked away. Horrible service, miserable environment to eat and drink in. I love live music but this place is way to small for a band to be playing as loudly as this one. If you can't communicate with someone a foot away there is a problem. Also, good musicians don't need to rattle windows. Secondly, to just turn around and walk away from a customer is so rude on so many levels it is beyond description. Horrible service. I'm only giving one star because I can't give negative stars. It's truly a shame, because I truly love Niles district, so grabbing lunch at this place used to be part of my lazy Saturday experience. I went with my husband during our lunch break. When we ordered, we were the only ones in the restaurant. After a bit a lunch rush came- I get it, so we tried to be patient, maybe the kitchen is now backed up. Keep in mind- we went on our lunch break. I realized at the 40 minute mark that we had not yet received our food, and after speaking to the red headed waitress (did not catch her name ), saw that she had failed to put our order in. What's worse is there were no apologies. Just straight apathetic service. No offers for extra food, no offers to give us a discount (which I wasn't expecting but typically is a decent retribution). Heck even a simple apology would have sufficed. It's truly sad, as this used to be my getaway during my lunch break. Will not be coming back- if you want exceptional service go to Skilletz!!! Go early enough before their brunch rush, but either way I promise you the wait to get into Skilletz is worth it for the value and experience you will be getting. We were expecting a quiet day of walking around and window shopping, but we just happened to decide to go to Niles during the Hot August Niles car show event. All of the eateries and the bar in downtown Niles were packed, but we happened to stumble upon Joe's Corner. We stopped in and easily found a table. We enjoyed a couple of beers, but did not get any food. The service staff were friendly and attentive despite being quite busy. The staff were incredibly gracious and kind, and from their interactions with other customers, they clearly have a local clientele that they know and take a care of. The pretzel bites were delicious, my daughter ate one and a half. When it says three pieces on the menu, know that they are not small. I was not the biggest fan of the chicken waffle fries, they are like chicken tenders with powdered sugar and maple syrup. I wouldn't get them again. It used to be something else. It was Shangri La. It was the amazing escape for my date, who became my girlfriend, who became my fiancé, who is now my wife. We almost had our reception here. But oh how the mighty have fallen. Sure it started when Bob and Mel sold to Dennis and whomever else, but Amit and company have ran that thing into the dirt since April left. My wife and I popped by a couple months back to see if it had gotten any better, and we were not disappointed because it had actually gotten worse, which meant we hadn't been missing anything. The Spicy Joe, which I used to adore, is a hollow shell of a name previously reserved for a proud sandwich. It costs way more and you get way WAY less. And it's hardly EVEN spicy. It used to be that I could fill up on half and reheat the second around midnight or the next day even, and just be super happy. Obviously this is no longer the case. Any gratuitous pics they show of the sandwiches now are a lie or they are old. Joe's corner is living off of the reviews from times long past. The latest thing they added was a charge for a side of macaroni salad. To go with a $10+ sandwich that's smaller than most value menu items? ARE YOU F***ING SERIOUS?!?! Ok, 50 cents for a half-full mini ramekin of packaged (probably First Street) bulls**t. It's so f***ing lame. Also, so the beer selection is garbage now and even at that it's all overpriced. It tastes like they are having trouble cleaning their lines or something - I swear to god. This place is all but dead to me. So by the power of Yelp I can see that we are not alone. Many others have also stopped going and would like to see the new owners run out on a rail. Wasn't the appeal of Joes is that it offered something MORE than just average? Bob and the rest of the crew knew your name and drinks. They kept prices competitively low. Even then the beer offerings were inconsistent, but with higher prices you'd expect better offerings. So why do Das Brew offerings seem sporadic? They're local! The owner used to come by Joes all the time! I used to come out spending $25 for a night of beers and food. They had me at least four times a week! I even spent NYE there. Now the place is struggling to keep its regulars because it wants to be like everywhere else. I tried to go back recently, but it's just not the same. I think the ladies behind the bar are trying, but the new owners are missing the mark in a big way. Please, new owner, don't reply to my message. You'll be wasting your time because you clearly are only interested in your profit, not the community or its establishment. This was our escape, myself and my wife. We went to enjoy our nights with local people, with no complications, unnecessary terrible customer service or expensive beer (they were pretty inconsistent with their offerings, but the beer was affordable). We've been to Joe's well over a hundred times in the last several years, as we live just around the corner. Joe's is always our first choice for going out to have a bite or a beer. Whenever we go elsewhere, our experience there is always judged by how well they measured up to Joe's. You can't compare Joe's to a national franchise, or even to one of the larger dining establishments in Fremont (and beyond for that matter). That's not their vibe. Joe's is its own unique thing, offering a great place to hang out and take in what Niles has to offer. The staff are always friendly, always working hard for their customers, and the owners are an absolute joy... especially when we engage them in deep conversation. Food: If you want several different types of Pizza, go to Bronco Billy's just down the street. If you want a fully legit steak or burger go to Ambrose just a few doors down. If you want pasta dishes, go to Frederico's, also just a few doors down. You won't find those at Joe's. But you will find a great line-up of tasty sandwiches and other dishes that perfectly compliment their niche. Their Turkey Pesto Panini is my favorite. It never disappoints. We also get Turkey BLT's, meatballs, breadsticks, potato skins, and they're all good. Joe's pizza is also really good. Beer and Wine: It's not a brewery, so there's not 100's of beers on tap. But for the size of the place, they've managed to find a great selection of local, and not-so-local beers. If you have a beer suggestion talk to the owners. You may just see it in the line-up the next time you're there. They listen to what their customers tell them. We're not wine drinkers, so we can't really tell you much about the wine other than they do offer options. Location: If you are a people-watcher, you're not going to find a better place to sit and watch. It's located at the entrance to downtown Niles. One moment you may see a group of Harley's, the next you may see a classis steam locomotive spewing steam out of its stack, followed by a small parade of classic cars. It's a busy corner, so you may be amused at how people try to get around each other in their cars. But there's never a lack of interesting people walking by to the various shops that surround Joe's. Staff: As I said above, the staff are all friendly, nice to talk to, and they work really hard. If something isn't right, they will try to make it right for you. If you've left a negative comment here I only hope you gave them that opportunity before reaching for the stars here! Vibe: They're always playing music, sometime from live bands, and they'll put ball games on the TV. But they're not a sports bar or live music venue. People are generally cool all the time. It's family friendly, pet friendly, politically friendly (to a point! lol), and without even trying that hard you can meet some really interesting people. When live bands play the music literally made people get up and shake their booty's. Price: The price is very reasonable, especially because you're not just having a beer, or a plate of food. You're getting the whole experience and atmosphere as I described above. Summary: If you're looking for a quiet, slow moving, quaint restaurant with high society dining and "foofy-ness", you may be disappoint in your experience. I don't know what it was about, but the way the manager handled it was very unprofessional. He was loud, rude and completely unapologetic. Missing the old owners. I went the other day and my daughter and I were the only ones there. Waited forever for our lunch only to learn one of the sandwiches were burned so they needed to make a new one. My granddaughters PB sandwich was so thick with PB we had to squeeze half out. A great little bar with rotating taps and friendly staff. They also serve food, but we only tried the beer. Each beer was $6 which seemed reasonable. Breaking Bud - I loved this one, it was a fruity IPA with just the right amount of hoppiness. Cherry Cider - Hard pass, tasted like watered-down juice. Hoptologist - Too hoppy for me but the SO loved it. A strong one at 9%. I have not been back to Niles for a long time. I decided to meet friends at Joe's of which I had great memories of goooood, food. Well, I noticed it has new owners an the food is not so tasty anymore. I had a meatball sandwich and it was whatever, the potato salad was warm and not very tasty, it just tasted like mustard. One of my friends had a salad , the dressing was non existent we had to go and ask for some , when they brought it it tasted like oil I think they forgot the balsamic part. The day was hot and it was very hot inside also There are not many places to eat in Niles and this place is in a great location and when you are at the bar you can enjoy your drink and watch people passing by.
