I was so excited for this grand opening as the owner seems so sweet and love the story of her business but honestly was a bit let down by our experience. We got there around 1 pm and it was semi-crowded. The menus were hard to find and the pastries were tucked in a little corner so it was hard to see what pastries were even being sold. There were at least 5 workers but no one came up to talk to us, tell us where the line to order was, or tell us where the menus were/what was for sale so we were standing around looking clueless for 5 minutes. If I was just walking around Niles, I wouldn't have even known this was a grand opening due to the lack of customer service :( We ended up picking 2 shortbread cookies and paying for them. The workers seemed really nice and were chatting it up to the customers in front of us but basically ignored us when we were paying and just said "your total is $12." I was a bit appalled as most businesses, especially at grand openings, try to converse with all their customers and ask them about how they found the business/or even if they've tried the food before/any type of small talk to engage with the customers. We paid and walked out with no one giving us any thanks or even talking to us about our experience. The shortbread cookies were okay in my opinion. They were pretty flaky but they were thin and broke really easily. They were also very small cookies for $6. We liked them but have also had shortbread cookies similar to these but larger and thicker for the same price. Overall, I'm glad we were able to check out this new shop but our general experience wasn't great. I understand that grand openings are hectic but hope that they're able to provide better customer service moving forward.

Was finally able to try this place! The owner was lovely and took her time with each customer. You can tell the place is loved and was decorated with thought. I tried the Oreo cupcakes and brownie. Both were great! The Oreo cupcakes has a nice chunk of chocolate in the middle which is my favorite surprise.

Visited Ashley Wong sweets's grand opening in Niles canyon and there was a long line. Waited about 30-40 mins for those baked goods. Forgot to take pictures of them as it was devoured by friends and family that I got it for. We were luckily enough to get the last 4 pack of cinnamon rolls and we enjoyed them more than another cinnamon roll place that is well known. Wont name any places. I would say maybe have an instruction on recommendations for reheating them if not being eaten right after. Just a small suggestion. Also got the 4 pack of mini cupcakes and it came with 2 lemon flavor and 2 s'mores which the s'mores were our favorite. We also got the chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin, snickerdoodle, and 3 designed cookies. I only got to try the chocolate chip cookie and it was more on the harder style instead of soft chewy style cookie. The shop is small and has a really nice decor to it. It was pretty humid in the shop with everyone in there. Will definitely come back for more baked goods in the future.

The coconut macaroons was subtly sweet, slightly buttery, and had a nice firm texture. This was my favorite of the bunch today. The cranberry shortbread also held up nicely, but wasn't as buttery as I would like. The curry puffs are reliably good. I also got their green onion and bacon bread- it is incredibly soft and mild in flavor. I like this one a lot better than the stuff we buy in bulk in Oakland. The paper cupcake (spongecake) was also really fluffy!

There's plenty of parking in the parking lot, despite it being shared by Ranch 99 and some other shops at this shopping center. I even came here on a Sunday and parking was no problem at all. Mary's Bakery is small bakery with friendly staff. You'll find sweet and savory buns, cakes, and of course, egg tarts. The onion bun is pretty good; this is my daughter's favorite because her grandfather always pick these up for her. They greet you when you enter the store. Being a small shop can be a good thing. Despite a smaller selection, you're also not overwhelmed and can easily figure out what to get. This bakery is a little pricier than some other places (such as 85C Bakery), but it's also nice to support the small local shops.

2nd time going on my day off and beginning my Labor Day weekend 2026…read more I had to try this bakery 2nd time, and bought few more of their brioche doughnuts, shiopan, and 1 shiopan banh mi. I know their brioche donut flavors are 9/10. I tried their shio pan pre-lunch. So good and coated with sesame seeds. I'm trying their banh mi served their shiopan. It's served with their own Bo',a Vietnamese mayo, pickled shaved daikon, cucumber and carrot salad, ham. It's so good because the shiopan has acrunchy exteriorbut the sea salt flavor cuts the richness, and tangy pickled flavors of the fillings. This sandwich is delicious, so good and amazing! Menu today is 5/5. Another thing about their shiopan is they perfected their own techniques of creating a baguette substitute and saviry bread vessel. I bought their banh mi, and was so curious and planned to eat it later. After eating a few bites, it is so good. Their bakeshop and café is still quaint, and tgey have outside seating for patrons. Just a quiet place to hangout or chat with friends, or have lunch. Love this bakeshop.

Guava Cheesecake ($13.75/slice): I didn't eat this personally but I gave it to my friend who said it was so good she licked the box after. Pricy for one slice but it looked like a 1/4 of a small cheesecake. Malasadas ($6.50 for regular, $4.50 for mini): I got the Pandan Sticky Rice and White Rabbit ones. It was fluffy and sweet but that was it. I didn't taste any hint of pandan or white rabbit. I think the malasadas are their worst item. Would not get again.

I was living in San Francisco at the time and it quickly became a regular treat for me whenever I found myself in the sunset district. Since then I've moved to the South Bay; and was ecstatic to find out that they were opening up a location in Fremont. After going a handful of times, I can safely say that the recipe did not change going to this location. There's a nice chewy texture in the bread and the crispy top crust that a lot of other Chinese bakeries don't execute well on. The prices are a bit high but totally worth it! It's a go-to when picking up snacks to share with friends.

Just a few that I've tried: pandan coconut (my…read morefavorite), guava (husband's favorite), spam and egg (which comes with sriracha mayo), taro, original, bbq pork, and matcha mochi. All were very tasty in their own way. The bun itself is just chef's kiss -- so soft and fluffy with the slight crisp from the sugar dough topping. *drool* *Tip to ensure the best experience: Upon receiving your order, make sure to open the box to let the steam air out. The buns are so fresh and warm that it can make the crumb topping get soggy in the box which doesn't make it taste as fresh. Either enjoy right away or let it air out cuz that crisp topping is what makes these buns really taste special! Also got the "ice-chilled milk tea" which is essentially a Hong Kong-style milk tea which pairs perfectly with these buns! Hong Kong-style milk tea is not too sweet and has a very strong tea flavor so if you're not familiar with it, I would keep that in mind since it is a different flavor from the standard boba milk teas. I love it though! I've tried their tarts as well but to be honest, I was not as much of a fan of these. Tried the croissant egg tart and pandan croissant egg tart. The crust was flaky but a little tough in my opinion and was disappointed that the pandan flavor didn't really come through at all especially because the pandan coconut bun is so flavorful. Usually I am a po-tat stan but I would skip these here and just go for what they do best -- the buns!

Thank you to Ethan for the amazing hospitality. While the staff was amazing on their part, I will say some of the customers are not. It only takes so little to have patience and kindness to others.
