I tried boba one time over 10 years ago and was never into it, but Niko Niko CHANGED ME. My fiancé and I ordered the strawberry milk tea with strawberry popping add-ins the last time we were at the mall on a whim and I have been dreaming of it ever since. There are plenty of tea shops near me but this menu is the best. There are three locations in the mall, but I went to the location on the third floor on the south side. This spot isn't a sit down place, but a counter to pick up your drink and get your steps in throughout the mall. The staff was friendly and quick. Niko Niko has 3 locations in the Mall of America. This review is for the one located on the first floor. I feel like during prime times they are all equally busy (weekends). They have kiosks you can use to order as well as one cashier. The drinks come out pretty fast. I only wish they would speak a bit louder when calling out names to avoid people walking us touching all over the cups to see the names. I like the Tiger Sugar Creme Brulee specialty drink here. I like that the drinks are overly sweet (although for many drinks you can adjust the sweetness/sugar levels). The prices are very fair for the quality and amount of drink you get. Love that the drinks aren't over filled with ice. This is for sure my go to boba place whenever I'm at MOA. read more

Niko Niko? More like nono nono. Walking the Mall of America is a daunting and thirsty task. After a certain point, I wasn't hungry but definitely needed something to drink and I really wanted boba at some point on my vacation. We kept passing Niko Niko and I figured if there was ever a sign, this is it. I believe we stopped at the one on the second floor by the food courts. It was fairly busy so Tim and I got in line to order on a self-help kiosk. Matt wasn't wanting boba so he patiently stood by while we ordered. I don't remember what Tim got but it came in a very sturdy plastic cup that he plans to keep and use at home. I discussed with Tim about their options since he's a lot more familiar with these kinds of menu and he said the Tiger Latte is always a solid choice. That's what I got and despite how busy it was, the workers were quick on getting the boba out. We took our drinks and headed out since the place didn't seem like it was going to stop being busy. My first few sips were all the brown sugar drizzle at first and wasn't all that good by itself. I tried using the straw to stir and mix it up but it didn't do all too well. That's when I noticed it didn't have any boba balls in it. Those are half the reason I get boba. They are fun to eat. As I kept trying to mix my drink to something halfway decent, I just ended up resigning to the fact that my drink wasn't anything I cared for at all. I did swap the milk out for oakmilk so maybe that had something to do with it... but being lactose intolerant, I didn't feel like dealing with a stomachache for the rest of the day. Having looked over the menu at a leisurely pace, I do see a few different things that I wouldn't mind trying if I get to go back some day. They have a few locations in Minnesota and Colorado and with how much I've been traveling, I am sure to encounter another one before too long. Went to the flagship location and the flavors are very inconsistent with other locations (I was told this by the barista). I asked the staff and she was unhappy that I questioned about my milk tea not tasting correct. I was told there is nothing she can do and don't know what to say because she made it "correctly" and every location is inconsistent. During my stay at the Mall of America on a brisk end of May 2024, my local friend in MN and I were wandering around after having lunch and stumbled upon Niko Niko Boba. I was never a fan of Boba drinks and tapioca balls. I guess the craze took over the upper Midwest somehow and there is a Boba tea drink place inside the Mall of America. Go figure. We have a bunch of them back home in Honolulu, Hawaii. Didn't know it was possible to be more popular outside of Japan. With that said, my experience here at Niko Niko Boba was particular and specifically brief. I was glad that they made smoothies as well as their signature boba drinks and anything else they offered. I ended up having their large strawberry smoothie and my friend wanted something else with boba. It was a small shop that was counter service. There was basically two or three people there that helped with whatever you need, almost like a Starbucks, but a cute little Boba drink store that people think is popular. For the most part, though, it was a good decision to come here, especially when I enjoy smoothies once in a while. There was no available seating to enjoy our purchase, so we basically walked the Mall of America with drink in hand. We must have spent about 15 minutes from start to finish: from ordering to picking up. I picked up the tab for my friends drink and I because probably I was a nice guy and it was cheap enough to where it wasn't a big thing. Niko Niko is probably a hidden gem here, although, it is interesting to find a Boba tea store in the upper Midwest generally speaking. It was news to me. The overall experience here at the Niko Niko Boba tea shop here in the Mall of America, in Minneapolis, Minnesota was pretty decent and casual at the same time. It was nice that it was moderately busy at the time I was here. The prices here were decent for smoothies and drinks. I guess they do copy Starbucks for being overpriced, but that's how it is, I suppose. The store itself is fairly small and quite clean. It's near one of the food courts, so you could get your drink here to accompany your meal. It was nice that they made smoothies here, otherwise, I'd probably pass by. The smoothies were good and delicious. The service here was quick, especially on a Friday afternoon in May 2024. They have their menu pretty clear and consistent, so you can ask for whatever you want. It's still interesting to see a Boba tea place in the upper Midwest. Still trips me out since it's uncommon. I'm glad it's gaining in popularity though. I had trouble getting the really big straw into the cup. Took me couple of tries to create a hole thru the plastic. After that, it was good and definitely hit the spot. If you are around the Mall of America, consider coming over and check things out. Niko Niko Boba tea is located inside the Mall of America in Minneapolis, Minnesota. 2nd floor next to one of the food courts. They accept major credit cards as well as cash. As far as parking goes, your best bet would be the many parking garages that Mall of America has for its customers. For myself though, I ended up arriving by Uber at the East entrance and departed at the same area. And so, if you love Boba teas, consider dropping by and check things out. If you love smoothies, consider coming here too. Truth be told, Niko Niko's smoothies tastes like 7-Eleven slurpees, but more smoother and tastes almost the same. In hindsight, I wished I told them to mix two flavors together to make a smoothie. Lesson learned, but this experience at Niko Niko was decidedly good and nice. Came on their opening day to try the new rebranded drinks! Honestly, the signature milk tea tastes the same as Chatime but it's good. I wouldn't say it's the best in the twin cities but it satisfies the boba cravings. I added the brown sugar boba to my drink as well, the boba were just the right texture but didn't taste much like brown sugar. This is hands down the worst boba I've ever had. I've had boba at other Chatimes and they've ranged from mediocre to decent, but this was shockingly bad. I got the jasmine milk tea because that's my usual when trying out new boba shops and it was just humorously horrible. I couldn't even finish the drink because it wasn't worth consuming any more of it. The jasmine milk tea tasted like 75% water, 20% sugar, and 5% milk. No sign of tea anywhere in it. I tried this place once and will never have it again. I want to clarify that this specific review is for the Chatime in the Mall of America. This Chatime is located in one of the food court areas of the mall. I specifically went here to order the Ube Latte with creme brulee topping and boba after seeing it on Instagram. The team members was really nice and let me know it would be a little longer since its a more complicated drink when I ordered. It took about 10 minutes or less - not horrible! The drink is super duper sweet but luckily my tastebuds love that! Theres ube on the sides of the cub so you pretty much get it with every sip. It's thick, creamy, and packs a ridiculous amount of sweet flavor. This drink isn't for the weak hearted, I repeat it is SWEET! Chatime is honestly one of my favorite bubble tea stores. Their drinks have the perfect amount of sweetness, and you can choose your level of sweetness. My go-to order is the lychee black tea with tricolor jelly or crystal boba. There's usually always a line, but the wait time isn't long. Drinks are always made on time and very quickly. Probably one of the worst boba's I've had. It apparently used to be called Cha Time. The staff was friendly but the drinks were not to my liking. The kiosk has good customizations, which I appreciate. But what I didn't like was the flavor of the drinks. I got the pineapple lemonade with boba. For one, the boba has absolutely no flavor and was boiled way too long. It was so soggy and squishy. The flavor of my drink also tasted very artificial and not fresh at all. My friend got the mango smoothie and it too had an awful taste. We also bought one of the overpriced breads- we got the chocolate flavor. It's definitely over priced and has no chocolate flavor whatsoever. Not worth it at all. We will not go back. read more

I came across Cha-Time while at the Mall of America. On a weekday, they were not too busy with a small line of 1-2 people before me. As a regular bubble tea connoisseur, I had some expectations for my bubble tea; however, what I had today was a complete disappointment. I ordered the oolong tea and below is my review. Oolong tea -With 80% sweetness, less ice and added boba. -The oolong tea tasted like watered down milk. I could not taste the usual flavor I'm accustomed to with oolong tea. Normally, I'm not one to waste; however, I couldn't bring myself to finishing the rest after drinking a third of it. -While my oolong tea experience was terrible, I did want to praise their boba pearls. They were a fantastic chewy consistency and honey flavored.   Overall, I did not enjoy my drink at Cha-Time. This could have been an anomaly, and I want to revisit the store at a later time to review my #1 staple item of bubble tea stores which is the classic black milk tea before I make a final verdict.
