Taro Black Tea Latte with Boba/

I ordered coconut jelly and milk tea, and both of them all deteriorated. The taro puree in milk tea is sour, and the coconut jelly is bitter. The deterioration is very obvious.

We wanted boba too, but they were out of boba pearls. The barista said it would be 20 minutes to make, so we opted to get the drinks refunded instead of wait. The egg sandwich was good! Not as good as the EggFlip ones I've had in the Twin Cities, as the eggs weren't quite a perfected and the bread a bit more standard. But the bacon was good and the toast was well buttered and crisped. The mochi donuts here are pre-made, which is okay - until you've had them fresh. Soga Mochi Donut in St. Paul makes them fresh to order and I swear having them hot will change you forever! They're still good, and we liked the cinnamon sugar and pistachio toppings we tried. Inside, the decor is cute but you can tell it's been ridden hard by UMN students. Not a deal-breaker, but there are other locations you can visit if you don't want to fight for a parking spot during school season.

I LOVE Moona Moono! What a cute and very cool coffee and gift shop to visit , study, or just to…read morerelax! It's bright, airy, with lots and lots of natural lighting. Such a peaceful vibe. The diverse coffee and tea menu offer both the classics to the fancy brews. The pastries to pair with the drinks, are so delectable since they the delightful pastries are from the renown Patisserie 46! Today, I got the Black Sesame Latte with Oat Foam, served hot since it was quite a chilly day and an Almond croissant, which was sooo good, the perfect balance of a flaky exterior with a rich, nutty interior. Heavenly! I also got the opportunity to meet Angie Lee, the founder of Moona Moono! I told her how much I LOVED her shop and how much Minneapolis needed a shop like this. Angie appreciated my feedback and she told me the backstory to the name of the store! The name "Moona Moono" is a rough translation of two Korean words meaning "culture octopus," representing the various "tentacles" or facets of the Asian American experience. How COOL is that? Thank you again, Angie, for bringing this lovely shop to Minneapolis, and I hope it stays a hit for the years to come! LOVE!

Be prepared for an amazing drink and cute ambiance, the workers are always very kind as well! I like the matcha, but could've used more sweetener in mine! Overall, you can tell it's the good quality matcha, and included real strawberry pieces! I also love this neighborhood-it has Magers and Quinn right next door:)

I can't believe this happened!!! There is a Matcha ice cream place just like the one in Waikiki…read moreBeach in Honolulu!!! I've never seen it anywhere else except in Honolulu and I can't believe it's in Minneapolis now. The one in Minneapolis is very strict on how they make their matcha floats like there's no substitutions. When I was in Waikiki Beach and if I ordered a Matcha float, I always ask for no ice and so they would fill it full of Matcha ice cream and then the cold Matcha tea premade in a pitcher from their fridge (i'm assuming because people ask for it this way all the time so they have to make a stock pile of it first because you don't wanna pour hot Matcha tea over ice cream) but they won't do that here in Minneapolis. You cannot get it without ice in Minneapolis cause they make the Matcha tea fresh so it's hot and they pour it over the ice and it melts the ice a little bit and then they put the matcha ice cream on top of that. lol i'm sure people ask for NO ICE all the time so now it says that right on the menu that you have to get it with ice booooo. The flavor of the Matcha is super strong like it will energize you like no other. It is an absolute great. Pick me up for a late afternoon. I can't wait to come back and try their black sesame and their Matcha ice cream and a cone. The only odd thing about this place is that when you walk in there is a weird smell. I don't know if it's because of the construction outside they're digging up the road, but it smells almost like a chemical cleaner or something, and the floors didn't look wet or anything like it wasn't just cleaned so I'm not sure where the smell is coming from. There's literally only street parking in that area so the best time to come is in the summertime when there's not a lot of student traffic because this is on the university campus.

I already wrote a review for the Richfield location, which has a more expansive space and better…read moreambiance than this one (also space is super limited in Dinkytown locations so they didn't have as much to work with here). I'd go to this location again for the convenience of it being close to UMN, but they did a better job with the drinks at the other location (I noticed that there was only half as much whipped cream on my latte here, and it didn't look as neat and picture-worthy).
