With favorites like Haiku in downtown White Plains, Buddha Bistro in Dobbs Ferry (by Saw Mill Pkwy), Yuan II- also in Dobbs (Cedar St.) and more, hubs and I were ready to experience the flavors at Nikko- tucked on White Plains Rd in Tarrytown. Plus on a Saturday night, when almost everything was closed like by 9ish, Nikko came to the rescue! Nikko is big and opens up to a stone water sculpture in their seated waiting area before it opens some more with the hibachi area on right partitioned from their regular dining area. Thank God- because I didn't want to smell like food. Maybe there's nothing unusual about this place but our meals were tasty and plentiful. I've become less of a salmon fan recently but between my perfectly cooked, super flavorful Salmon Teriyaki hooked with little potatoes and a nice mound of snow peas+ asparagus and hubs' surf & tuff with noodles, rice (yeah...carb on carb) and veggies, we left satisfied. Nikko is lively, service was pleasant and sharp- and price was decent for the most part.

Salmon teriyaki with veggies

I was in town for a business trip on 16JUN2024 and decided to try Nikko. I had edamame as my appetizer and their salad, both were good. For my entree, I had the teriyaki salmon and it was prepared very quickly. The salmon was crispy on the outside and tender inside and had the really good teriyaki sauce! Missy, my waitress, was very nice and moved very quickly to serve each table. Now I am disappointed that I didn't come here on my previous trips to Tarrytown. Thanks Nikko for good food, quick service, and a very pleasant service from Missy!

Update 02/2023: I ordered this same meal but via delivery this time. So delicious still. The only thing you don't get is the dipping sauces. The portions also might be a little smaller? Most importantly I wish they would update their Uber Eats menu description for the hibachi entrees to let people know that you will get both rice AND noodles because on UE it only says rice so I thought that the entree was different for delivery and very reluctantly shelled out another $14 for two small portions of hibachi noodles. I wish I'd known. Yummy leftovers this time and will try to remember for next time that I don't need to add them. Looking forward to next time. Delish!

Sushi For Two

We had the Sushi For Two and the selection was so delicious not to mention the beautiful presentation. Fish tasted fresh and great sushi rice. Generous portion for two.

Our family has an annual Thanksgiving weekend tradition, we always go for hibachi the day after Thanksgiving! This year was no exception, but we had to find a location that worked for all. Nikko's fit the bill. We were 17 people , 5 children and 12 adults. We need a space that worked where we could all be together. Nikko's has a private room in the back with two hibachi tables facing each other! Sounds perfect, and it was in every way but one! It was an ice box In there..... absolutely freezing! We had to wear our coats for a while until the tables were on and hot and then after the tables were turned off. The food was delicious and plentiful. We all had a great time. The prices aren't too bad either. I would go back but maybe not sit in that room.

Excellent excellent spot for lunch. Don't let the industrial setting fi you- this place is a gem. The food is fresh and delicious the service is terrific and the ambiance is good. Go have a good time the zombie and Mai tais were delicious. I'm amending and adding to this review because I want you to know that the udon held up I had some late last night they were still delicious the restaurant packed whatever I had left the sushi held up. It was so fresh and so delicious. I will be back at Niko's. Thank you for a delicious time.

The menu is a bit limited, but what we had was good -- sort of shared antipasto as opposed to having a big meal. The service was wonderful -- and the place attracts a wonderful crowd; good folks who enjoy good music and being together. I can't wait to go back!

Friday and Saturday evenings tickets range $25 (students) to $35 (adults). Sets are basically at 7pm and 9pm. On Sundays they feature smooth Brazilian Jazz and/or Samba sets at 4pm or 6pm, tickets range $15 (students) to $20 (adults). We have had the pleasure to see performances by Ravi Coltrane and his quartet, Renee Rosnes quartet, Bill Charlap, Joey Francesco, Joe Farnsworth, Eric Alexander, and a few others. A small menu consists of: cocktails, wines and beer, plus various appetizers, a few entrees at an added cost. The room has many small tables, and a few high tops for seating. Owners, Ellen and Mark have put their hearts into the venue through the years. They are often present, with a very friendly and welcoming staff. Jazz Forum also has educational Jazz programs for children available on their website. Jazz Forum is a perfect venue to enjoy some awesome talent in the Westchester area! Donations are welcome. This restaurant is known for authentic Spanish small plates, generous paellas, imported Spanish ingredients, decadent desserts, and wonderful warm bread to start your culinary meal with. Abdul and Roberto make a perfect drink, whether it's a simple Espresso Martini or their house-made sangrias. . All this in a warm and friendly setting. The seafood paellas are portion perfect ie; large, the tapas favorites include garlic shrimp, octopus, croquetas, Iberico ham, lamb chops, and seasonal specials. Because the dining room is relatively small, expect a noisy environment. Weekend waits can be long because of this restaurant's popularity, but it is so worth the wait. If one arrives early, there will be no problem with sitting at the bar or nabbing a table. The staff is friendly, the clientele is neighborly, and you're guaranteed to enjoy your restaurant experience here. For Piermont, it's one of the strongest dining experiences available, particularly if one enjoys sharing plates. If you're going for the first time, I'd order the garlic shrimp, a few tapas to share, and one of the paellas for the table. Thank you Benny for bringing Piermont to our neighborhood. *For those across the river in Westchester, enjoy Basque in Tarrytown.

Nestled just a stone's throw from the Tappan Zee Bridge, the intimate Spanish restaurant offers an experience that is both approachable and memorable. Where some menus can overwhelm diners with endless selections and unfamiliar terminology, Basque takes a more refined approach. The menu is modest yet thoughtfully curated -- ideal for those exploring Spanish cuisine for the first time. Begin with a selection of tapas before choosing from one of their signature paellas, including seafood, meat, vegetarian, or surf-and-turf options. Pair the meal with a pitcher of sangria and settle in while the kitchen prepares a dinner worth savoring alongside good conversation. Beyond the meal itself, the village of Piermont provides the perfect setting for an evening stroll along the river. It is a charming way to end the night before heading back across the Hudson and down into New Jersey.

I walked up to the hostess and asked if they could accommodate a party of 4 for the patio. She asked me if I had a reservation for it. That confused me.. lol She told us it would be 15-20 minutes wait. as she was taking our info another group of 4 walked up; the guy that took their info was quicker so they go ahead of us on the list. We waited anyway about 25 minutes. My mom had to go back to the hostess station since we saw 3 empty tables. FFWD, Alex was not our server, but maybe the busser. He was great. He was attentive and friendly and helpful. He seriously should be promoted. He did more than our server. We asked for bread for the table, ordered the whipped ricotta app. we got the app, never got the bread. Asked for ice, never got that until Alex came by and got that right away. He was great! Our entrees were the quinoa burger, chicken caesar sandwich and turkey clubs. They were all good, nothing incredible. Maybe dinner is better. The view is spectacular, the food is great and the service was meh, other that Alex, who we appreciate!
