They are not stingy and I love going back. I love the ice cream sundaes but I can't even finish a regular. $1 for a Kiddie ice cream is great compared to the other places in the area. When choosing a place to dine out, I'd rather throw my support to the local joints and avoid the chains. That's how I ended up at Nicky's one Tuesday afternoon before I went shopping at the Wrentham Outlets. Mere minutes into the experience had me wishing that I'd chosen Ruby Tuesday's instead. It was 2:00 in the afternoon when I arrived, an awkward hour, and most of the tables were empty. Given that there were only a few other patrons and several waitresses working, I expected reasonably prompt service. I sat a full five minutes before a waitress came by to take an order for drinks. As I was waiting for my drink and food orders, I noticed that other people coming into the restaurant received a basket of bread when they were seated. We did not. My boyfriend had to ask our waitress outright for what everyone else was getting as soon as they sat down. This pattern of ignoring us (or nearly so) continued shortly after our food was delivered; our waitress zipped by our table and commented that everything looked fine instead of asking us if we needed anything. What was so pressing in a podunk restaurant in the middle of a Tuesday afternoon that she couldn't actually stop at our table? To complete the picture, the food was horrible. My boyfriend ordered a fried lobster special and was disappointed by the chewiness of it. He also noted the absence of cocktail sauce on the table, which should be a given in a place that specializes in seafood. I had the baked shrimp special, which was OK, but the portion was very small (only four shrimp came in it). The Italian zucchini that came with my meal appeared mushy and was so repulsive in its look and smell that I couldn't bring myself to try it. Ordinarily, I really like zucchini. The only thing good about Nicky's was the lemonade. I would never go back there again. read more

The food is simple but good , the inside is pretty updated and the waitress we had was great. Our one drawback was the vibe that you got between the wait staff. There were two younger servers and one older woman who's name I believe I overheard was paula. We witnessed several interactions between her and our waitress (which somehow I didn't catch her name. My mistake.) that were absolutely uncalled for . She waltzed around as if she owned the place always with a malicious look on her face. She bumped into our server multiple times in their station, wasn't courteous to what anyone else needed to do in that small area and was giving some major attitude to the gentleman who must have been a manager of some sort. We like to look at things like these so we know who to ask for when we come back which we will because the food was delicious. Overall a good experience ! read more

Nicky's is really good. The food is always good and fresh. The prices are insanely low, I think they forgot to index their menu to inflation like 20 years ago. Give it a try you'll like it for sure. Service is great - long term hand picked staff who treat you like you are a guest in their kitchen (as opposed to their dining room.) Daily breakfast, lunch and dinner specials are usually very interesting. Certainly NOTHING to complain about! If you aren't happy, tell your server (nicely)and she'll fix it for you (although we've NEVER had to send anything back.) This is an unpretentious place, badly in need of aesthetic remodeling, and the right place to stop when your hungry. Not a "date night" spot - and they don't want to be one! read more

They have the best onion rings hands down in the world. They are light and fluffy and amazing. They also have wing dings my favorite. The burger is great and the seafood is always great. Checked this place out today for lunch. I ordered clam plate and my husband ordered scallop/clam plate. Only the fries were acceptable. The whole clams were terrible. I had to spit out one rubbery clam into my paper napkin as there was no way it could be chewed. My husband agreed about the clams and added scallops weren't any better. The rolls with butter were bad also. How could any restaurant serve stale cold rolls? What a disappointment. I cannot imagine how anybody could tolerate eating here. What a waste of money. I was so tempted to just pay the check and leave my plate of food almost full. I tried so hard to give this place a chance. How could they honestly serve food so terrible? i just watched a waitress pick some fries off of a plate and eat them. place isn't too dirty but food has also been sitting in the same spot for 3/4 minutes without anyone bringing it to a table. fries were cold, burger was frozen- had no juice to it. was ok. read more

This is an older place that tries to do it all with stools and counter, ice cream stand and regular seating. Been there for breakfast. Great service from friendly staff. Fairly inexpensive with just average food. It's tough to screw up breakfast. Nothing is going to blow you away. I've had lunch specials a few times. Decent portions but fairly bland. Today I went in for some takeout sodas and witnessed something that accounts for the low score. I saw what looked like the dishwasher come from kitchen to refill his soda. Coughed several times into his hand then proceeded into kitchen, picked up bread and made a guests sandwich. No hand washing. One draw back of an open kitchen.... It may have been an isolated incident but makes me question ever eating there again. read more

Stopped in to visit since I am moving not too far down the road. Place is always packed and had to see for myself what the place was all about. It sits across from Lake Pearl on the Wrentham/Norfolk lines. They serve Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner and it is a pretty welcoming place, with a very nice staff that are all quick on their feet. It doesn't look like much on the outside, but it is pretty large inside and has room for lots of people, nothing fancy but seems is very family friendly! Menu for breakfast was a large array of egg dishes, omelettes and pancakes and waffles. Coffee was great and blueberry pancakes were just right. Plus the prices are decent and we will definitely be back for ice cream and lunch since the menu looked delicious! read more

Meh. Dirty old diner that needs serious refurbishment. I've lived down the street for the last 11 years and I almost never go unless it's a last resort. The food tastes like it came out of a can or a bag, nothing is fresh made, the only reason why it's still in business is for pure nostalgic purposes. I usually come here for the seafood. It never disappoints. Always tastes fresh, never greasy. The portion sizes are generous for the price. Specials are updated daily for both lunch and dinner. If you have room for dessert, the ice cream is delicious and the sizes are meant for a giant. Only down side would be no free refills on the drinks. Hadn't been here in a bit. Was looking forward to some good seafood for our late lunch. The hostess was pleasant and amiable while seating us right away indicating that Karen would be right over to to take our orders. It was good that she told us our server's name because Karen didn't introduce herself and only 'greeted' us with a 'what can I get you?' Iced teas came unsweetened (a plus) with lemon without having to request it. We both ordered the scallops (mine with the haddock combo). About a minute into our wait, my wife noted a fly perched on the top of my booth back. No big deal as long as it was flying solo and didn't target my meal when it arrived. No such luck. S/he had a couple of siblings or cousins in tow. Distracting and annoying to the point where we ended up asking for our orders in carry out containers. Tried to get a couple of ice creams from the counter on the way out, but even though 3 workers acknowledged me standing there a few minutes, no one came over to help me. Bummer. Usually pop in on Sunday's with the guys, around 10:30, after playing a couple hours of basketball. Food is always plentiful, extremely tasty and quickly prepared. Eggs are always cooked perfectly and fairly large. That is big for me as there is more to soak up with my toast! Waitresses are usually great, down to earth and join in our conversation to keep things lively....except 1...she is very tough, unsociable and seems like she doesn't ever want to be there for some reason despite being there for years, but no names. While out driving my husband and I stopped at Nicky's for lunch. My first impression was, not a very clean place to eat. Bathroom sink had a crack in it and mildew mold all around it. The floor had black dirt all around the edges. However, the toilet was clean. My husband ordered the Chicken Parmesan dinner, and for the most part it wasn't bad. However, I ordered broiled sea scallops, mashed potatoes, and green beans. The mashed potatoes tasted like powdered potatoes, the green beans were soggy over cooked canned green beans, and the scallops must have been frozen, they had no flavor what so ever and they were over cooked and rubbery. The waitress was horrible, she was more concerned about her granddaughter that was sitting eating at a table nearby with her mother. We kept having to ask for our drinks we had already ordered, then again for a straw to drink it with. She seemed totally disinterested about serving us. Mind you she wasn't rude or anything like that, she just couldn't be bothered. Over all not a good experience. Will never go there again! read more

I went shopping to the outlets and decided to look around for a place to hace dinner, when we found Nicky's. We weren't sure about it, but we gave it a try. GREAT service. We had garlic bread for appetizer and it was really good. My husband and I ordered NY sirloin steak with corn and pilaf rice; it also came with a soup. The soup was delicious; the steak and rest of the food too; the portions were really good and the price is excellent. We paid $12.95 for the plate and it was worth it. For dessert I had lime pie which was delicious and my huband had an apple pie a la mode...OH MY GOD THAT WAS GREAT!!! The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because they don't have diaper stations and changing my 10 month old diapers was a challenge. read more

My daughter And son-in-law bought a house in Franklin about a year ago. We pass Nicky's on our way there all the time. We have wanted to try it, so last night we did. I got the fried Lobster plate,which tasted fresh,but not too much lobster. My husband got scallops/shrimp. He said the fish tasted fresh, but the crumb topping was tastless. My daughter got fish and chips and thought the haddock was fishy tasting and her chowder was watery. my son-in-law got grilled chicken on spagetti/sauce and just said "eh". I would not recommend this place to anyone. I ordered the broiled haddock with mashed potatoes and green beans, and could barely touch my plate. The haddock tasted as though it was very recently defrosted. The green beans were overcooked and looked brown (not green). The mashed potatoes were simply inedible. By the time the waitress came back to collect our plates my plate was still so full that she assumed that I wanted to wrap it up to go, but to be honest I wouldn't even take it to feed a dog. However, they have very good mozzarella sticks and a decent Tuna salad. My two stars mainly come from the waitress who was incredibly nice and sweet. I would not come back here. read more

We had the worst , most Humiliating dining experience there this evening. We ordered prime rib special, which came to our table basically raw. We sent it back, and received in return a piece of steamed shoe leather that we could not even begin to eat. When we complained, we were told by the owner that there would be no reduction in check charge, no offer of dessert or compensation, not even an apology, in fact he said to us...no one else tonight has complained if you don't like it don't come back! I'm surprised to read so many other bad reviews. Went with a friend, I got their scrambler (3 eggs scrambled with homfries, peppers and onions and cheese). It was good, nothing mind blowing but tasty and only 7 bucks. My friend ordered 2 eggs over medium with homefries and bacon. she also got a blueberry pancake. She enjoyed hers as well. We had no problem with the service, they were prompt and friendly. And the restaurant was clean, unlike some others reviewers experience.
