Friendly and efficient staff made for a pleasant visit. The small was truly small, but the portions overall were large. The blueberry pancakes were delicious, the pork sausage was tasty, and the scrambled eggs were good. The corned beef hash was clearly canned but fine for what it was. The potatoes were good, the coffee was tasty, and even the water was good. Overall a solid average diner experience.

Ladies and gentlemen...THIS is a diner! I've been visiting the Potomac/Bethesda area for the last week and when I tell you, I could not find a real diner around here that wasn't a chain or outrageously priced lol. I walk into here and it feels just like Home in New Jersey. Hard-working people, making magic at the grill. While, I would've killed to try the pancakes, i'm not having bread right now so that was a bummer but they looked amazing. I can say however I visited this place three times on my trip for breakfast. You pay the right amount of money and you get high-quality, delicious food. The bacon is thick sliced, the omelettes are beautifully prepared, the country ham is a must get! It's sliced fresh right in front of you. I wish I could articulate in a better way how much I enjoyed this place. Just the people in there as well. Meaning no offense, but Potomac is kind of notorious for having a bunch of snobby, uppity people around who kind of seem detached from real life. So coming in here where it was down-home, hard-working people you were surrounded by ---both customer and employees--- I felt way more at home eating here. If you're looking for a true bang for your book, you have to try this place out. Better than paying $20 for the same exact meal at some local chain diners in the area.

Consistently great breakfast here. Parking can be difficult because it's on a busy intersection. The service is quick and food is always hot. It's a very family oriented place. Prices are good and there is always seating when I've gone in the mornings.

It's a diner- no frills, simple menu, you know what you're getting. We came here for a weekend brunch and it was packed. The table seating is definitely cramped. There was a short wait, and then we were able to grab seats at the counter. They have a small parking lot, but it can be difficult to get to depending on which direction you're coming from. We were able to park in the lot next door and walk over. The waitresses were friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. They have a system in place to keeps things moving but organized. I ordered the chocolate chip pancakes with corned beef hash. Food took a while to be brought out, but business was booming so there was a lot of hustle and bustle in the kitchen. Portions are good for the price. Service was efficient - I ordered the pancakes and it came with pats of butter, and the waitress knew to bring out the syrup without prompting. There was a generous amount of chocolate chips and the pancakes were adequately fluffy. The corned beef hash was good but not as crisp as I would've liked. Service was responsive to requests such as bringing extra napkins, and they were mindful of offering drink refills. Sitting at the counter, I had a view of their fridge and it had their canned Pepsi soda products, Ocean Spray cranberry juice, Safeway apple juice, reused Food Lion jugs of iced tea and lemonade, and other generic orange juice... I kind of wish I didn't see behind the curtain. As other Yelpers have mentioned, the bathroom is behind the counter, through the swinging doors - I thought they were joking at first, but they were serious. Aside from the menu, Nick's Diner was lacking the charms of a diner that I look for - music, milkshakes/desserts, and blue plate specials. Our experience was completely fine, just nothing special or alluring to warrant my return.

This Wheaton staple is known to many, and now it's known to me. No thrill, no frills, great breakfast for a good price. I had the pancakes, potato's, turkey sausage and eggs. I left this establishment with a full stomach and my taste buds satisfied. The customer service was excellent. Treat yourself!

It's a Diner folks, as dinerey as any you have ever been in. It's not IHOP, or Denny's just a neighborhood diner. Thank God we still have a few around. Weak coffee but look that's what diners give out. No one is here for coffee. With the wife and ready to have a cheese omelette! Big portions are the rule here. Meal out of home fries alone. The omelette was good as well. Again no purpose in giving a full bite by bite. It's a Diner not a French Restaurant. Still if you want to get good plain food for 2 at a more than reasonable price. Skip the drive thru for breakfast and stop in here. read more

This was all that and a bag of chips. Total greasy spoon with amazing employees and even better food. Clean clean clean to boot!!! Which is tough in a dinner. Kudos! To the staff. We were blessed to be sitting where we could watch the masters at work. To say I was impressed is an understatement. Efficient and effective. It's small. The door is camouflaged bc I walked around 2Xs trying to get in. There are plenty of windows for someone to own for me. Definitely a diner vibe, busy. You can see the staff cooking, and they seemed to work on harmony without taking long to juggle carry out and attending to the customers inside. The bar area is a little tight but definitely satisfying af. read more

Friend and I ate lunch here today, first time here. It's a small SMALL little place with a lunch counter and maybe a dozen - 15 tables. Tricky parking because it's right in a ridiculous corner but we managed. I got a steak n cheese sub, the potatoes/hash were nice n spicy, good. The sub itself was very salty so I only managed a half. Friend got a cheeseburger and said it was very good. Wait staff was very friendly, personable and happy. Will come again when in the area, but ya gotta tone down that salt on the cheesesteak. A LOT. read more

I ordered from Nicks via Uber eats , and I must say I have been missing out. I've passed Nicks many time which is a small , no frills diner located in Wheaton . . I ordered the 2 egg combo with bacon and banana pancakes. The home fries that came with the combo was top notch, very flavorful and the portion size is enough for 2 people. The banana pancakes are delicious, I mean you can literally taste the bananas in every bite . The food was packaged well and arrived before the estimated delivery time. This will most definitely be my go to breakfast spot from now on. read more

Great old fashioned diner. These are hard to find in MoCo these days. I highly recommend that you go here if you are looking for some excellent pancakes or French toast from the griddle. They do a mean grilled cheese sandwich too. I took my kids here to show them what a real diner feels like. They loved it. From the closely packed tables with a wide variety of clientele to the down-home, old-school waitress, every bit of it is like a time capsule. The food was great, exactly what you'd expect from a diner. Don't go here if you're looking for a Ruth's Chris type of steak however, if what you want is a delicious Homie meal and a hot bowl of soup then this is a great spot in the Silver Spring, our Wheaton area. The only other spot, which I would say, is equally good if not, may be a little better, is the Tastee diner. What a long-standing, beautiful tradition. I hope these diners are here to stay! read more

I loved this place so much! I went for breakfast and found friendly service, delicious food, and a relaxed atmosphere. I sat at the counter so I could watch them make the food and it was fascinating! It was all so fast! I got my food in no time and it was so good! I will definitely be back! Keep in mind that they are closed on Tuesdays and that they only take cash! read more

Good food at fair prices. Came for breakfast, counter was half full and few empty tables inside. Order in and waited a longer than average time. Seems like the to go orders or small kitchen affect wait times. Staff is polite and assist with menu. Parking is plenty or in adjacent lot if able to navigate to it. It's always a good experience every time I come to Nick's. You'll get that small diner experience with all the comforts of your grandmas kitchen. No powder eggs no questionable meat, just good solid food. I've only come for breakfast but I'm sure their lunch menu is just as good. You can literally see them cut the ham fresh so you can believe it's quality. We generally sit in the same area and have the same server and she's always a delight. My husband usually asks for non-diary creamer and she's pretty accommodating. I love the home fries here because I don't need to add any salt or pepper. The home fries are well seasoned and come with peppers and onions in them. I've had the big breakfast multiple times because I like the pancakes here. On this most recent occasion I had the chicken breast egg sandwich on wheat for the first time and it was yummy. My husband had the ham and egg sandwich on wheat. The ham is good here for the reasons said earlier so husband enjoyed his sandwich too. Definitely come here, just be advised they close at 1 on Sundays and 3PM the rest of the week. Enjoy! read more

THE BEST BREAKFAST!!!! If you want breakfast that tastes literally one million times better than any expensive/upscale restaurant in moco, GO HERE!!! Idk what they do to their hash fries but they are the best I've ever had-- better than any place I've tried in the DMV, LA, and Southern cities. My chocolate chip pancakes were amazing. Nick's is a small diner with tables packed close together (had to reposition my chair several times to let wait staff and patrons get past). But the food was hot, tasty and served surprisingly quickly considering how crammed the place was. We were there for breakfast, and the pancakes were terrific. the "hash browns" were amazing. Remarkable as always. If you're the type to rush through life and not enjoy the simple things, skip the trip to Nick's. If you like classic diner food done right in a true diner atmosphere, Nicks is for you. Me personally, I love Pancakes done perfectly with sizzling Sausage patties and a side of Corned Beef Hash that is unmatched in the DMV, so I come to Nick's. Walk in. Grab a counter seat or wait in line and file down to the left. It's CASH ONLY so don't forget the green (atm inside). It is VERY tight but there's something cool about that. Make sure to snap a little video of the guys crushing it on the grill. You truly appreciate the god much more when you see the passion going into your food. They love to hear and see people appreciating the art of a line cook. As a former Sous Chef, I applaud these guys and tip them out before I even eat...DO THE SAME! It's a Wheaton Landmark, so just give out a shot. And make sure to tell your peoples. Nick's lives on WOM. Let's support this spot and make sure it sticks around for 40 more Years! read more

Cash only establishment. Free parking lot next to the diner. Located across from lens crafters. This place is extremely busy on the weekends. Definitely line up early to be sure you get a seat at the diner. read more

Quick order grill cooking and they do it well. I took a seat at the counter, since I was there on my own. The cheese omelet seemed like the way to go, with toast and home fries. A few moments later, my coffee was poured. Not great, but good. Good solid java. And then my omelet arrived. Not huge, but there was a lot of cheese in there and a good serving of home fries. Those home fries are the bomb-diggity. Delicious. The omelet was also good with the right amount of cheese, i.e., a lot. $7 for a good meal. $10 with tip. I'd go here again! Nick's Diner is one of the cleaner diners I have been to. They serve quality diner food for decent prices. The portions are pretty big too and not overly buttery. I'm very picky with eggs. Their scrambled eggs are cooked to perfection and home fries are excellent. It's an open kitchen so you see what they're cooking on the grill. The place is small. It has counter top seats and a few tables. Staff is friendly and attentive. There is free parking out front and metered street parking. *Cash only, but they have an ATM on site. read more

We got delivery for Omelettes, hash browns and small tossed salads. The Omelettes & hash browns were delicious and hot! Not easy to accomplish for delivery. Portions were exceptional! The small tossed salads were okay - we wouldn't order again. They came with Feta cheese, which we don't prefer & didn't know. They were fresh but just iceberg lettuce with one or two very thin slices of green pepper, tomato & onion. The ranch dressing tastes more like creamy Parmesan. With this said, the Omelettes and hash browns were as good as homemade! We strongly recommend the veggie omelette with or without cheese... lovely! The hash browns were nicely browned and cooked perfectly (could use more onions or stronger flavored onions, in our humble opinion). The customer service is TOP NOTCH! They truly care about getting your order right, are very accommodating and nice! We will definitely order again and HIGHLY RECOMMEND! We are blessed to have access to this restaurant. This place is perfect. Does that mean every item is "perfect"? Not necessarily. Let me explain... We've been there for weekend breakfast several times. The food is delicious (traditional breakfast, pancakes, French toast). The atmosphere is great (diner). The waiter we've seen is fantastic. Is the coffee "diner coffee"? Maybe. Do the tables sometimes wobble a little? Sure. Is it crowded? Yes (popular!). Nick's is PRECISELY the kind of place I love to go. Distinctly local. Will keep going until we don't live in Glenmont anymore. read more

Really solid four stars and a strong recomend fora cozy, relaxed and casual dinner with your partner, freinds, yourself or family. The only note is parking in their lot is nigh impossible some times, so your best bet is to find street parking nearby and drop anyone who can't walk all that far. I literally laugh at the people who give this place a few stars. This place is awesome. A total dive joint that serves good breakfast. You have to wonder why the place is jam packed on the weekends with a wait of people trying to eat when there is a IHOP less than 1 block away. I've been coming to Nick's for about ten years and the place never disappoints. Daily breakfast specials for $5.99 are unheard of anywhere else in Montgomery County, PERIOD. They are WAY more than reasonable with their prices. Anyways, I particularly like sitting at the counter and watching George and Nick at the grill. It truly is a lost art what they do there. The fact that your food is cooked right in front of you is amazing. Everything home made from scratch. #delicious. Monday night they have my favorite lunch and dinner specials which is a spaghetti with meat sauce (one of the specials I believe ) I've seen people take tubs of the sauce home; its that good.
