Meat skillet

Nick's breakfast is very yummy. Other establishments should learn from him to provide tasty food. The portions are great, the price is on point, the service is exceptional, and the flavor is right there. We have been there since it opened up twice already. The breakfast burrito and skillet omelette are wonderful. I did also order the breakfast pita, but I prefer to have the burrito. My husband has ordered the meat lovers skillet as well as Nick's omelette, and both were fantastic. We also have met Nick himself, and he is an extremely nice and welcoming business owner. Go support him so we can have yummy food in Lago and not be stuck with Sonic plastic-flavored breakfast sandwiches. If you are driving through Lago Vista to get to Austin or Marble Malls, this is a great and the only location I would recommend to stop to get food. They get you seated quickly, and the service is great.

Fairly new breakfast/brunch spot in Lago. Food is great! Service and hospitality is amazing. Daily specials. Bring your appetite because they bring the food! We will be back. Nicole was our server and she was awesome.

The menu is not extensive, mainly appetizers, burgers and sandwiches, salads, and breakfast served all day. I'm usually suspicious of huge menus so this one is just right. It didn't take long to get seated or to order, but there was about a 30 minute wait to receive my order. This place has only been open a week so that's just one of those little kinks I'm sure they'll work out. I had chicken strips off the appetizer menu, mashed potatoes as a side and a margarita. The chicken strips were truly excellent. They weren't heavily breaded and were hot and fresh. The potatoes were also tasty - more like mashed baked potatoes than boiled. The margarita was, frankly, terrible. However, my server was determined to get it right and ended up making a good margarita and also comped it. That was really above and beyond and I appreciated it. I'm giving The Flip House 5 stars for delish fried chicken tenders and for a server who just refused to give up until everything was just right. She had a bunch of tables and never forgot a thing I asked for. The only wrinkle is a small parking lot. I didn't take the time to investigate other parking, but I will. I'm going back tomorrow! Update - I did go back with my grandson. I had the (yummy) chicken strips with fries and he had a cheeseburger. It was all very good. I don't usually eat a bunch of fries, but I did this time. I also had an electric lemonade which was very good.

Sitting along the marina with boats gently coming and going, The Lighthouse has all the ingredients for an afternoon you don't want to end. Unfortunately, our experience never quite found its sea legs. We arrived with a party of five and walked up to the host stand where several young employees greeted us... sort of. We let them know there were five of us. They nodded. That was it. No "What's your name?" No "We'll get you on the list." No "It'll be about a 30-minute wait." Just... nodding. As more guests started filing in behind us, I finally walked back up and asked if they needed our name or phone number. The group looked at one another like I'd asked them to solve a calculus equation. Eventually someone located a scrap of receipt paper and a marker to write our information down. I'm choosing to believe it was someone's first day because otherwise, it was a genuinely confusing start. The patio was bustling, but considering Texas had apparently opened the Gates of Hades that afternoon, our group requested indoor seating. A plus? There was only one table seated inside and they were just having drinks. We thought it would be a very short wait. About thirty minutes later, one of the hosts finally asked, "Would y'all be okay sitting inside?" Our entire table answered in unison: "YES." Once seated, things improved... at least initially. The dining room overlooking the marina is comfortable, with large windows that let the view do most of the decorating. The televisions were on without dominating the room, making it easy for our family to settle in and enjoy something we hadn't done in years--simply sit around one table together and catch up. Thankfully, we had plenty to talk about because the food took a while to arrive. My brother and I decided to split The Shipwreck, the restaurant's signature sandwich. On paper, it sounded incredible: fried chicken, fried cream cheese, ham, bacon, lettuce, tomato, homemade blueberry jam, and an order of their truffle fries. That's a sandwich that practically dares you not to order it. Unfortunately, reality didn't quite match the menu. The biggest disappointment was the "homemade blueberry jam." It wasn't jam. It tasted exactly like canned blueberry pie filling. That one ingredient completely threw off the sandwich for me. (thankfully, just in case, we had asked for it on the side) Beyond that, it was... fine. Not bad. Not memorable. Just an average fried chicken sandwich wearing a few extra accessories in hopes of becoming something special. For more than twenty dollars, I wanted something that made me think about it on the drive home. Instead, I mostly thought about how much potential it had. The truffle fries were another miss. They arrived barely warm and were cold before we made it halfway through the basket. The promised truffle flavor was faint, there were a few shavings of Parmesan, and instead of the garlic aioli listed on the menu, we were served plain mayonnaise. Meanwhile, our server proved elusive. After taking our order and delivering the food, she seemed to disappear entirely. When she finally resurfaced to greet the table beside us, we took the opportunity to ask for our check before she vanished again. To be fair, two members of our party ordered the chicken fried steak and both enjoyed it, so there were certainly bright spots on the menu. But as a whole, none of us walked away particularly impressed. It's disappointing because The Lighthouse has so much working in its favor. The location is wonderful. The view is exactly what you'd hope for on Lake Travis. The atmosphere invites you to slow down and stay awhile. Now it just needs food and service that rise to meet the setting. As for me? The Lighthouse didn't quite guide me safely to shore. Next time, I'll be looking for another place to dock in search of a better meal.

The majority of the property is covered by an expansive patio area, perfect for groups. They have a number of large tables, small tables and even chaise lounge chairs - whatever makes you comfortable! We arrived later in the night just as the live band was wrapping up but there were many of people out back watching the World Cup game. In terms of drinks, I got the skinny rabbit margarita and it was fantastic. It far exceeded my (admittedly, low) expectations. It had a mint accent which was delicious, and combined with a tajin rim, the perfect summer drink. Don't worry, if you don't like mint, they will happily leave it out. My friends got an espresso martini, customized without baileys or dairy, and enjoyed it for a bar that doesn't seem like they would even have espresso martinis. One odd note that I did notice is that the handwashing sink for the restrooms is outside of the restroom and around the corner both inside and outside. At first I thought that they did not have handwashing sinks and was confused but noticed them once I left. Hopefully people remember to do this when they leave!!

While it was a bit of a far drive, it was well worth it to have breakfast at Texas Toast Breakfast and Burgers with these friends. I had no expectations of what to expect (first time diner), so I was starting from ground zero. First impression...this was a neighborhood café with down home cooking. The restaurant had a small town, country, and laid-back vibe...no pretense, just warm and welcoming. As I got out of my car, I could smell the wafts of something good happening in the kitchen. Our server was friendly and immediately offered us water. She gave us adequate time to place our orders and checked on us pretty frequently. She was attentive while also giving us the right amount of space. Why do this neighborhood café have a 4.8 rating? Hands the food! My friends ordered the Chicken Fried Steak Plate (including three over easy eggs, hash browns, and of course, Texas toast) and two breakfast tacos. I ordered the chicken and waffles. Did I die and go to food heaven? The waffles were firm on the exterior and soft and flavorful inside. So, so good! My friends were pleased their meals also. My friends meal came with Texas toast, which she gave to me. It was yummy! I did not eat it all since I was carb-loading with waffles. Would I dine at Texas Toast Breakfast & Burgers again? Absolutely!!!

I'm kicking myself that I've missed out on the last 5 years! So obviously this is my first time in. I walked in, not knowing what to expect. A lady behind the bar made eye contact with me, greeted me & said sit wherever you want. A lot of tables were taken. There were a couple open, But I'm solo, so I sat up at the bar. Another lady came over and started chatting with me like we were old friends, which I love. God Bless Texas! She was telling me everything is good, you're not going to be disappointed. Burgers are fabulous. And so on. Once she said waffles, I was in! She wondered off cleaning and helping other patrons. I looked over the menu, saw chicken and waffles. I was sold! A young man came over and asked if I had a drink in mind. I said yes. Mexican Coke. Would you believe I've never had Mexican Coke before. It's true. This was my first, right here at Texas Toast Breakfast and Burgers. Memories being made. To be honest, I don't drink soda much at all. I also said I was ready with my food order too. Chicken and waffles. He said good choice, it's a big Texas shaped waffle (love it) with a big piece of fried chicken. He put my order in and gave me my Coke in a bottle. No fountain type drink. Felt like an 80's Coke commercial with a real glass bottle. Feeling fancy. Since I'm solo, I put my ear phones in and listened to my own music. A little Lenny Kravitz, American Women, if you're interested in what I was listening to. My plate came out, and Oh ! My ! Word !!! Chicken & waffle big as my plate. I nearly cried, gasped, unbelievable! Seriously, this was a solid breakfast, and now I'm really bummed I've missed out for 5 years! I joined the clean plate club even though I was completely stuffed. Chicken was tender, juicy, hot and fried perfectly. Light crispy, not greasy. So, so good. The waffle was light & fluffy, but once I smeared the butter on it and soaked it with syrup, I put the chicken back on top of the waffle and cut away at both. Solid breakfast. Completely epic. Enjoyed every bite. Was in my own little world with my music and good food and an amazing Mexican soda. The service, way top notch. I felt like family. The young man that took my order, Alvaro M, totally chill with me, we talked a little about ourselves. And that I never knew this was here even though I drive by on 620 for work. Truly, great service. As a solo diner, it's nice to have human contact. Even though I had my ear phones in 1 ear, so I could still hear and interact. Had the best service, food, interaction. Couldn't have asked for a better first impression. Can't wait to come back. Parking lot is pretty large. So you shouldn't have a problem finding a place. This seems like an off the beat residential neighborhood with a lot of RV parks, and boat launching area. Like I said, hidden gem!

We wanted pretty views (which, of course, we got), decent food, and a drink after being so disappointed by the couple of restaurants at The Oasis area. What we were met with exceeded our hopes. First, service. Boon was our server and we loved him. He was upbeat and friendly, got us everything we asked for, and great at upselling drinks without being pushy. The boy who sat us and was bussing tables was sweet as well. Second, food and drink. The jerk chicken plate was enough food to have leftovers and full of flavor. My husband got the chicken and waffles and the chicken was fried to absolute perfection. They also included a honey cinnamon butter that would put roadhouse to shame. The Mexican martini was yummy and strong. Lastly, ambiance. The place is a dive, but not in a bad way. In a comforting way. Did I see a guy not wearing shoes? Allegedly! First entry was the regular Hamburger with cheese which in fact had a side of coleslaw which I ordered as a side dish. Parking isn't too difficult but it is limited so if it's packed you'll have to park across the street and walk down a steep hill . The restaurant itself is down bellow the parking and you have two choices to get down there . One , you can pick a walking trail that isn't really that bad or depending on your abilities an elevator at the end of the parking lot if your unable to walk a trail . Personally I walk down the trail and come back up in the elevator. Important info on the elevator , if it's not at the level you are on you obviously call it by pressing the button ,but if it is on your level you have to open the sliding doors with the handles and when you get in make sure they are closed all the way or the elevator won't move . If you press the button when it's on your level you will send it down or up and have to wait for it to return . I only say this because I've seen tons of people push the button when it's already at their level thinking it's for the doors to open and then have to wait forever for it to return . Shack 512 has great appetizers to pair those Piña colada's or cold beers with and my personal favorite the fried shrimp as an entree. Most entrees other than the Texas Alfredo come with your choice of two sides. The kids menu has all the usual pickings from chicken tenders ,cheeseburgers and Mac n cheese to choose from . The waitstaff is super friendly and always check up on you . I do like to come on a weekday afternoon with my wife and have a few frozen alcoholic beverages and some chips and queso . It's a nice spot to chill out and people watch or when you just want to relax from work . The place isn't hard to find with Google maps or whatever GPS you use but please drive safe on the way too and from as the roads turn into one lane both ways and very winding .
