My A/C went out late on Friday night and I contacted them through yelp. They rapidly responded and had someone at our house Saturday morning to fix the problem. (They offered Friday night as well, but I missed the message) The problem was quickly and easily addressed and the AC was back up and running, thankfully before it got really hot over the weekend. I am an actual customer of theirs and I get no kick backs from them for doing this. I just really really REALLY like this company. HVAC, hot water heaters, gas fireplaces, air quality - they know their stuff and they are actually *gasp* NICE! Last spring I was looking for a company to replace our HVAC unit. I saw one of their trucks in front of me at a light in Springfield and immediately looked up their website when I got home. Professional, meets you where you at. I literally chatted with a rep on their website and we scheduled a sales call for when it was - yes, most convenient for my husband and myself. We got it done. We got a great unit that didn't cost a fortune. And with our maintenance agreement (we always have one with our HVAC unit) the techs are friendly and helpful. This company gets it. Then we asked for a quote on a gas fireplace. While down in the basement the gentleman asked to see our hot water heater and upon looking at it, he noted that there were several issues code-wise. We told him that we had another company put it in and it busted just a hair after the warranty and we had to shell out a lot of money to repair it. We won't go back to the company that put it in, we had Nice Home Services do it. Now we feel safe. We weren't able to do the gas fireplace yet but if we do we will use them. Then today - a package arrived at our doorstep. I opened it assuming it was an Amazon item or something. Nope. A very nice card saying thank you to us for our business. And in the box? Two large gourmet brownies. They didn't have to do that. They could have taken their money and walked away. No, they went the extra mile and thanked their customer for business. No vendor I have ever dealt with has ever been this relationship-focused. Not a sales-pitch nice. A really honest, down to earth nice person. Turns out we had the CEO visiting us that last time. He owns the company. I just wrote him a thank you note and it will go out in the mail. He has won our business hands down. As a fellow CEO, I have a huge amount of respect for everything this company stands for. You get what you pay for . . . I paid for a hot water heater that I thought had bells and whistles. I found Nice on Thumbtack which had a great reviews. I called them to look at my Heat Pump which was not cooling and blowing warm air. I had a Tech come out for $69 to take a look. As soon as he gets there I told him the unit was 15 Years old running R-22. From there the sales pitch started. He told me R-22 was $1,000 a Pound! The he went and looked at the Blower and saw rust and said the unit probably had a leak in a coil and not worth repairing. Then he went and looked at the Condenser. Came back in about 10 minutes later and gave a $2,200 estimate to fix. I declined. He said he could get someone to come out and give me a replacement estimate. I agreed since I was thinking about replacing the unit anyway. Well they Tech came out and the lowest 3 Ton was $12,000! Since I thought that was extremely high, I ended up calling someone my Realtor introduced me to the prior year who worked on my Townhouse that I sold. They came out and had the System working in less than 10 Minutes! The issue was a cheap Capacitor was bad. A part less than $10! Replaced it and the compressor kicked on immediately and started to cool the house. He also topped off my R-22 (not $1,000 a Pound) while he was here. The kicker is, since I took care of them the year before, they did it for free. I asked them also about replacing the unit and he said it wasn't that bad and I could get at least another 4-5 Years out of it. Well you live and learn. Just thinking if the Nice Tech ever looked at my Condenser I checked my Video Camera near the outside unit and you guessed it, NO! He set his tools down and did something for less than 30 second. Got up and was on his Cell Phone for 9 minutes. They never really looked at the System. To summarize, it was such a waste. $69 for nothing. Well if these guys tell you to replace your System and R-22 is $1,000 a Pound, call someone else.... read more

I wanted to believe in you so much but one month of calling and sending emails is enough. I'm saddened that you took advantage of me and that a YELP review finally made you available. I live like a gypsy because your crew didn't complete its job and left a permit open. I'm also out a significant amount of money, $16K. I'm making myself available to anyone that reads this message to provide evidence of all I've done to assist you in completing this job. My general contractor is a witness. Please be careful hiring this contractor. I've paid over $16K for services in August and NICE can't finish the job. My gas pilot light goes on and off on its own on a fireplace they installed and can't seem to pass permitting in the City of Alexandria. I've tried to work with these folks to finalize everything because they have caused considerable delays in construction. I've tried everything but they are just non-responsive, promising to finish but never show up. I've resolved to complain through Virginia DPOR. We had a decent experience with Nice Home Services. They installed our new furnace in the dead of winter and were quick and easy about it. We did have an issue where they didn't install one of the overflow pipes correctly and it kept shutting off our system - they quickly sent someone out to fix it. read more

I have been hesitant to write this review, but today I received a second opinion on my fireplace. Nice came out and told me that my gas valve was leaking and I needed a new thermocouple. They have replaced the thermocouple previously, and the total for the repair were $1300 or a full replacement at $3200. The second opinion confirmed there was no gas leak and the fireplace just needed to be cleaned for a small fraction of the Nice quote. read more

I had NICE come out today to do scheduled maintenance/cleaning of my AC system (they also take care of our heating in the fall) and I've always found their service to be high quality and their service reps excellent. They are professional, knowledgeable and thorough. I've tried other HVAC companies that claim to provide the same level of service -- but my service rep (Ashley) went outside and cleaned the AC system -- even took off the sides of the unit so that the coils could be more easily (and better) cleaned. No other company's service people did that. I'll stick with NICE. read more

Nice Heating & Air - Heating & Air Conditioning/HVAC Near Me - Lorton, Virginia

This company was dispatched by my home warranty company to troubleshoot a malfunctioning thermostat. My house contains a two-zone HVAC system with a supposedly uncommon wiring setup, and the technician said that fixing it correctly to work with both zones would take too long (even though the warranty company would've paid the tab), so his fix involved temporarily rewiring the place into a one-zone setup and changing the thermostat. We agreed that I could make another appointment in the near future and get the other zone control functioning again. Fast forward to approximately 9 months later - I reached out to NICE and asked them to return and fix the system correctly this time, and after several attempts to contact these people, they eventually returned my call and claimed that too much time has passed and they would no longer repair the setup because there was a possibility I had tampered with or changed the system in the interim. Riiiiiight. My warranty provider sympathized but ultimately said it was the repair provider's responsibility to fix it, not theirs, so now I'll have to hire a different provider to undo the damage this company did. I sure am glad that NICE had the audacity to call me and market some b.s. annual service products, else I would've forgotten to write this deservedly scathing review. Edit: they no longer do warranty service as the comment on this review would imply, but rest assured, this is the same company (and I have the invoices to prove it), so I would still not recommend them for anything. read more

I scheduled a routine HVAC inspection as I just purchased this home. They were prompt and professional. The Tech noticed that my expansion unit on my Hot Water heater had gone bad (not part of the requested service). They also spotted a couple of other things. Probably legit, but questionable as I just had a home inspection 2 months ago. I asked them for a price to replace the expansion tank (online search states average cost $150-$250). They quoted me at ~$700. For a $50 dollar tank and about 30min of work I was offended by this absurd amount. Unless you just want to throw your money away, I would shop around. read more

Be aware- this company is not incompetent but will try their best to scam you. Call the technician over to my parents house. He barely spent five minutes looking at it and slightly dusted the top and give us an estimate of $400 to fix the issue. When I confronted him on the nature of the problem he tried his best to use one technical term after another. Im not sure if my problem was with the particular plumber or if his work was a reflection of NICE. Hard to tell. Here were the problems, low pressure in the bathroom shower, leaking faucet in the bathtub. The found problems as a result of the stated above was that the posi valve had so much mineral build up it had to be replaced. Which pointed to the water heater also most likely a problem and was replaced as well. This brings us to the bathtub faucet, practically the same problem, the cartiage was stuck and couldnt be removed. So replacement bath-tub faucet. The plumber replaced the Shower posi unit, no real complaints. The plumber made my cut thru support beams in the tub to access the plumbing(which I thought was odd being its his job to it, but what ever). He installed the faucet handles backwards, such that on is off and off is in the on position. Its functional but irritating. Now on to the water heater. IT was replaced. Its functional. But the plumber blocked my Whole House HEPA Filter. So I cannot replace filters etc. Why have a Whole House HEPA Filter if i cant use it. Heres where this review dives into company. I reported these problems to the local company a few weeks after. I was inclined to ignore the faucet problem but couldnt ignore the HVAC thing. I called the company asked them if we can move the water heater 6 inches to the left or right, just so i can get access to the Filter Box. I even offered to add the UV light to my HVAC to incentivize them. What I got in return was a quote for a brand new water heater @ 2400$. Company is shady, plumbers (so far) show me that anyone can do it since their are using sodderless fitings now (sharkbite). Company didnt want to accept responsibility for their shotty workmanship. You might be better off going with a independent licensed plumber than a name brand like this. Feels like they pulled this guy off the street and put him to work. read more

Avoid Nice Home Services I had a poor experience with them. I had them out to my home several times to repair my gas fireplace. After spending thousands of dollars my unit was still not repaired. They suggested an additional $6K to fix it or $10K to replace the unit. I thought this odd so I sought a second opinion. After spending $2,500 with a different company my issues with the fireplace were resolved. The other firm spent the time to troubleshoot in a thoughtful manner. I can only assume that the Nice Home Services technician was inexperienced, lazy or driven by commission. Steer clear of this company. read more

I bought a Condo over the summer with a 14 year old gas fireplace that wasn't working too well. They replaced a defective electronic part valve that was discovered during home inspection, but after closing on the apartment, we discovered the fireplace still wasn't lighting consistently. They sent a Tech out to diagnose, but he didn't help too much other than recommending a Fall tune up. I scheduled the tune up, but no one showed up. It turns out that they had me confused with someone else with the same name. They sent George the supervisor the next day with a $50 credit as a gift for blowing me off the day before. George got the system working better, cleaned all the debris out, and showed me some tricks for easier lighting. Truth be told, it's probably time for a new one, but that probably won't happen for awhile. However I want to give a shout out to George for his patient, thorough and skillful work. read more

From the beginning I had no issue with the knowledge and service from the technician and that still stands. Decided to take another try with the NICE Home Services after reading a lot of positive reviews online. The experience wasn't great two years ago, but I am glad I did give them another try. I scheduled for a fireplace and HVAC annual check up, and Fredy and Thomas showed up right on time. The overall experience was awesome - it was pretty much the definition of customer service everyone would cherish and appreciate. They were friendly, and cheerful, on top of doing a thorough rockstar job. The entire process was stress free as they were very transparent in regards to what I need vs. what are the good to haves (didn't force sell either... everyone hates that). They even went above and beyond to fix up my fireplace up! They were not just typical technicians - definitely getting to the trusted advisor/friend level. Made my day. Had the most inexperience technician, didn't finish the work but stepped into the ceiling caused damage. I didn't get my annual system checkup done but I ended up with a bill that costed me as much as the one year home warranty plan with them. To follow up, the manager called and apologized for the damage and misunderstanding. They will fix up the ceiling and refund my money. I think if a company does care about their reputation and customer services then a company is still worth a try. Beside, the other technician that I had before for other services from them was great. This will be a negative review but first of all, the actual Nice technicians are A+. Highly professional, great work. No complaints there. However, after engaging Nice for an HVAC replacement and gas fireplace install, I am disappointed in everyone who isn't their install techs, especially sales and management. The equipment the sales team sold me was so obviously wrong that as soon as the techs pulled up to the house they told me they knew it wasn't going to fit, without even coming inside. After that, Nice tripled the number of days they'd need to do the install, which was super inconvenient, and they jacked up the price. They told me the fireplace I bought had been on discount and they couldn't offer me that level of discount on the fireplace that would fit, so I ended up on the hook for even more money to finish the job with inferior product. Then at the end of the job they told me they don't do inspections and I'll have to take time off AGAIN to have an inspector come out and permit the work. Would not recommend to anyone. Based on the quotes I got I should have gone with a competitor. read more

They do a good job, are thorough and responsive, and when they mess up, they make a real effort to fix things. In particular, Dionte and Israel did a great job installing our new AC and furnace. Abridged version: 12/2012 - referred to NICE by Home Warranty company to repair heat. NICE Technician #1 recommends complete replacement of indoor and outdoor unit, due to age. We paid for the portion that insurance did not cover, about $700. Technician #2 and crew install new complete system. 1/2013 - Brand new heat pump begins freezing over outside. Technician #3 comes out to service, checks for leaks and finds none, and adds coolant. Problem deemed fixed. 2/2013 - Unit again freezes over completely. Technician #4 comes out to evaluate. He recommends another technician to fix. Technician #5 comes out the next day to fix. Problem deemed fixed. 3/2013 - Unit freezes over completely, again. Technician #6 comes out. I was advised to file a claim to replace faulty defrost board and thermostat. 4/2013 - Part was ordered, arrives, installed by technician #7. I paid the labor. It is now too warm outside to run the heat pump. I am again assured the problem is fixed. 11/2013 - Predictibly, UNIT FREEZES AGAIN. Called customer service once again, and am offered a technician to come out an evaluate, and will be charged for the evaluation. I refuse, and explain my months of trouble on a brand new unit, which they installed from day 1. They agree to talk to upper management and give me a call back with some options for repair. Unsurprisingly, I never received a call back. I should mention that the technicians always made sure to recommend their annual maintenance plans when they came by to make repairs on the SAME brand new system over and over again. DO NOT USE. I had a gas service place furnished with Nice in 2016. The fix did not last. I bought a new gas fire place for over 3500 dollars from them. It broke the next year. I got another in 2017. It is already broken, leaking gas, and I had a hard time getting the technician to admit it was leaking gas. I had to produce another company's receipt and notes from a week earlier showing where they found the gas lead. I called the head manager, Brooke, and basically got a cold 'sorry' and what else can I help ya with. Again - over $8K spent with Nice for 3 fire places in 5 years - all broken and the worst customer service to boot. I don't even write and review, but save yourself of heart ache, hard earned dollars, and frustration. Give your money and business to a company that cares and will value you - we deserve more our community businesses. read more

I found NICE Home Services online and while I had my fingers crossed that all would be well, you just never know when you're trying out a new company...but I must say that I was pleasantly surprised with their professionalism and flexibility; from my initial encounter scheduling an appointment online. My appointment was for a gas fireplace maintenance check and cleaning, and Kenny was great. During the appointment I was offered an annual maintenance plan for both my fireplace, and a service of my choice--I chose plumbing. The price was right, and as a homeowner the capability to be proactive rather than reactive is always something that I am looking for. I plan to set-up my plumbing check in the next 30 days---and I'm looking forward to a longstanding relationship with NICE Home Services in the future. read more

I had a technician come to my house for an AC check, he had to do some work on my AC unit, he asked about my humidifier, I said I really done use it, he encouraged me to have it turned on and use it. While he was working on the humidifier, I saw it was leaking a decent amount of water, I gave him a towel to clean up the water, he finished the job and left. This was on Saturday, on Monday I went downstairs to grab something from my laundry room and saw water on the floor of my laundry room, I went down the hall my carpet was soaked and their was water all over my bathroom floor. The water from the humidifier leaked into the bathroom and all over my carpet. I called NICE heating and air, I told them what was wrong, around 6:30 am, I was told they don't open until 8:00, so I waited, got a call around 8:15 to confirm what was wrong, didn't hear anything back. I called back at 9:30, the lady said Denise couldn't come out until around 11, had to explain again my humidifier is still leaking all over my floor, she told me to turn it off, I said I obviously would have, I don't know how to turn it Off. Then I get a call from my technician Denise and he walked me through shouting off the humidifier, this was a very stressful morning, I spent the rest of the week trying to dry out my carpet, not fun. Yelp will not allow me to upload a PDF, but I do have a copy of the quote from Javier Giorffino at NICE dated December 2, 2016 which I will try to paste as text below. Mentions a lot about evaporator coils, etc. but I exchanged 12 or more e-mails with Cherie at NICE because I was so angry about the quote, and she never said to me that this didn't equal coil cleaning. Further, if this quote is for something else, my new HVAC technician didn't find anything wrong other than some cat hair on the coils. When I first had NICE as my HVAC contractor they would do the same thing when I had dirt on my coils, and then later spent a lot of time trying to get me to pay outrageous amounts for services. This is the most dishonest and unprofessional company I EVER dealt with. They came out through my home warranty, last year when we lived at the property at the time and had a problem with hvac. I paid the deductible that I had to with my home warranty. And that's it. 1 year after and not living there I found out that apparently Im in collection for not paying my bill with them. I called right away and as turns out home warranty didnot cover the work and they just went ahead and worked on hvac, WITHOUT notifying me on anything. Didnot tell me that home warranty didnot cover, not how much will it cost. I would never agreed to those charges if they told me from the beginning as they supposed to. When I spoke to them they are saying that I agreed to those charges, and they have a recording. So I requested to review recording, since I know for sure that I would never agreed to that without it being covered by HOme warranty and the price. Since I had to pay collection right away, and After requesting refund from them, they blocked my number too. So I can't reach them. I'm filing bbb complain on them too And yes thank you I called home warranty , and they do not have any authorization from me to perform any uncovered work . read more
