This restaurant deserves more hype! Let me count the ways that I love pretty much every item on their menu. Their Nia salad, cauliflower hummus, patatas bravas, and funghi artisan pizza need to grace your taste buds. They offer a year round tasting menu that lets you sample a large portion of their offerings but we were able to have it during their restaurant week. My must orders are the hummus and funghi artisan pizza. My friend says the french onion soup is her must order dish. We also ordered mocktails. Mine was a blueberry lemonade and it was super sweet which is exactly what I love. The atmosphere is intimate and inviting. Here is a breakdown of all the items we had on their tasting menu: Nia salad = 5/5 (every flavor compliments each other) Hummus = 5/5 (best cauliflower I've ever had) Pan Con Tomate = 4/5 (super soft inside) Croquettes = 4/5 (creamy with an outer crunch) Funghi Pizza = 5/5 (honey drizzle is amazing) Patatas Bravas = 5/5 (best in the city) Chicken pinxtos = 2/5 (it was dry/burnt but the sauce was good) Churros = 4/5 (could be softer but loved the chocolate sauce and cream) They are going to be opening a live music venue in the basement coming this fall. read more

We came for restaurant week because the menu looked like it had lots of options and clearly marked allergen specific menus. However, when we got to a certain course, the waitress told us that the only dairy was just "the cheese on the top of the dish" and seemed to suggest that we could just eat around it or wipe it off. Our other dishes seemed pretty allergen friendly, but as someone who has allergies, it makes you hesitant to eat the other dishes once you see that one dismissive action. The restaurant was pretty from the outside, the inside was very cramped and casual. Definitely more of a family run small business feel. Lastly, we were a group of three but gratuity was already added and it was 20% added AFTER tax. Additionally, there was a 3.75% credit card fee. After tax, gratuity, and fees, the cost just didn't feel worth it for the food and service we received. Overall, most of our courses were great and we left feeling full but not stuffed! As we arrived we found ourselves wondering why a Mediterranean restaurant on Randolph Street, one of West Loop's busiest restaurant rows, would be sitting completely empty on a beautiful and warm Friday evening. A few hours later, we had our answer, and it wasn't a good one. The dining room was completely empty when we walked in, not one other table seated, and we almost turned around right there. The only reason we stayed was the deposit we'd already put down for a patio reservation. Instead of a host, we were met in the doorway by a man who launched into an unprompted rundown of the menu and told us the chef was "famous." A quick search afterward turned up his most notable credential: a stint at a Royal Sonesta, hardly the kind of pedigree that justifies a pitch before we'd even been seated. This same man then told us to find our own table, despite having specifically paid to reserve one on the patio. Water arrived next: a carafe alongside two clear plastic Solo cups. When another party was seated shortly after us, we watched their server bring out actual glassware. It was a small detail, but it told us exactly how much thought had gone into our visit. The food did nothing to change our minds. Every dish that reached the table, simple Mediterranean cooking that should have been hard to get wrong, was overcooked, tasted cheap, and had almost no flavor. When our server (the same man from the doorway) checked in, he didn't really ask how things were. He announced "everything was delicious" and walked off before we could respond. Honestly, that was fine with us; we didn't have much we wanted to say to him at that point anyway. West Loop has plenty of restaurants worth the hype, which makes it tempting to read an empty dining room as a hidden gem rather than a warning sign. We'd wondered about the empty tables before we even walked in. We should have listened to that instinct. Save the deposit, and the evening, for somewhere else. read more

Okay the food was very delicious. The beef kebabs were so flavorful and good to share. Also, the hot churros and chocolate sauce were divine. Just wish we could dip the churros in all that yummy goodness. Great spot to watch the FIFA cup and be outside. read more

I went here with a group of friends and wasn't impressed. We have been exploring West Loop restaurants, and so far this is my least favorite. Our server just seemed timid and not cut out for a customer service job (sweet but very shy). She did refill our waters consistently though and our food came promptly. We tried 4 dishes and that was definitely enough for our group of 4. The pancetta crostini was the star of the show, so delicious!! The French onion soup was also good. The crispy cauliflower itself was good but it came with whole wheat pita and hummus that was pretty bland. The patatas bravas had a good sauce on them, but the potatoes themselves were just alright. Also, the inside seating area is much smaller than you would assume from the outside and pretty dark. Overall: decent experience, but in my opinion doesn't live up to the high caliber of restaurant set by other West Loop spots read more

After perusing Chicago's restaurant week menus, my friend and I landed on Nia's 8 course dinner for $45. We snagged a reservation for a Saturday night and when we arrived were seated right away. Our waiter was nice but seemed a little scattered, possibly because they were so busy. Water glasses were filled regularly and I also ordered a Manhattan ($15) that tasted like a well drink. The food was hit or miss - we really enjoyed some dishes and others not so much: - tomato crostini (3/5) - French onion soup (5/5) - goat cheese & date salad (5/5) - croquette (3/5) - chicken skewer (2/5) - patatas bravas (3/5) - mushroom pizza (4/5) - churros (2/5) Spacing of how quickly dishes came out could be improved - the first three basically came out at the same time and there continued to be a rush until dessert which had a long wait but didn't even arrive hot so that was a head scratcher. Came into Nia for happy hour and tried a few of their bites and drinks. The French 75 was delicious and strong. The bites were presented very well, but were just okay. Everything lacked flavor. A hidden gem in the west loop! Went for the chef tasting menu and everything was so good. You have to get the pancetta and the Nia salad, followed by the jumbo prawns! Just did restaurant week here and unfortunately food and service were not up to par. We were seated for our reservation almost immediately but it took about 20 minutes before we had anyone come over and take drink orders. Half of our table finally got their bottle of wine with 2 courses left in the meal. No one checked on us throughout. The 8 course meal seemed oddly timed. Everything basically came in rapid succession in different order. The food tastes reheated, plastic-y and room temp. Highlights were the croquettes, salad and churros. The front staff and waitress were also dressed extremely casually which is interesting for the vibe I think this place is trying to give off. I will shoutout the food runners who were extremely efficient and hardworking. I always want to support family owned businesses, but with prices like this and in a place like Fulton Market, you have to perform at a certain level and this place unfortunately doesn't. I would not eat here again. There is also a mandatory 20% gratuity (after tax i might add) which normally doesn't bother me but in this case when the server interacted with us twice in two hours, I don't think it was deserved. We came in for the chefs tasting 8 course menu- I didn't get all the photos; but here's what we got: Nia salad- love the salad! Great flavors and toppings; fresh goat cheese and dates! Whipped beetroot crostini with pancetta- fantastic mix, filling, great flavor; lots of pancetta French onion soup- pretty tasty- great flavor, perfect size Shrimp- lacked flavor imo- but cooked beautifully. Very light Oxtail peppers- excellent flavor; loved the goat cheese stuffed pepper. Very interesting but tasty mix. Skirt steak- cooked perfectly- excellent cut, very fresh. Wasn't a fan of the tomato chimichurri; but the steak alone was amazing. Potato au gratin- served a little cold so the cheese wasn't melted. Wasn't too much of a fan. Cheesecake- incredible- really paired well with the fruit and walnut; I heard that it's a special treat from Spain where the chef is from. Bravo for adding that to the menu. Great location- it was kinda sad to see there wasn't many people at this establishment; there was lots of seating, weather was perfect in Oct. My only major complaint- when we ordered our food, we were asked if we were aware of the pricing; and if someone had told us the cost before we ordered it. We went for Restaurant Week 2026. Our experience was very favorable; the food was delicious, service was snappy, and the decor was warm and inviting. The highlight was the Pancetta Crostini with whipped beetroot goat cheese. Very imaginative, and I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. The Piquillo Peppers also tasted great, but I felt the portion size was a little skimpy. The Gambas al Ajillo (shrimp) I felt was a little bland, but my wife enjoyed it. This is one of those "4.5 star" experiences as there were valid criticisms (chiefly having to do with portion size). We were running late, and they were more than accommodating, which I felt bumped this to a '5' star rather than a '4'. read more

I came here for Chicago restaurant week and left highly disappointed :( first, we waited 25 mins for the waiter to come serve the table. I believe they were short staffed. The food was insipid and did not measure up to Chicago's food standard. Nia is listed as a Mediterranean restaurant but the dishes were far from it. The staff was very accommodating in letting us split some of the vegetarian/meat options so both my girlfriend and I could enjoy. Our top favorite was the croquettes and the tomato soup and hummus were surprising tops as well. The chicken pinxtos had great flavor. Only complaints were that it took a little while for them to bring the bottomless sangria out and the pizza wasn't our favorite. All around a good experience and worth trying! Some of the foods stood out more than the others- our favorites were the chicken which was incredibly cooked and seasoned, the pan tomate, and the salad. I wish I would have read the most recent reviews before coming. Clearly understaffed and in need of better management. I get there 15 minutes early, waiting on my wife to arrive. Sat at the bar by direction of hostess (maybe also manager?) who was making drinks at said bar and wasn't offered drink (not even water) until it was time for us to get up for our reservation. And that was the best service of the night! Proceeded to sit in the restaurant for dinner at our reservation time. Small, quaint place with about 15 tables and only half of them occupied. We're served water and that's it. 30 minutes pass by and never once does the lone waitress acknowledge our table, take a drink order or anything. We even made eye contact a few times. Finally flagged down the person who we first interacted with and asked if we could be served. She said "oh, the waitress must not have realized you were in her section" - it was the only section and only waitress! She offered to take our order but at that point it was too late and would have regretted dropping $200 there. We left and went elsewhere. read more
