This place is a joke, Bruh I'm so fucken confused. Mind you it's 11 am on a sunday, It's dark af from the outside and as soon as I opened the door it was packed full of men, it's a secret strip club or some shit. Victoria might blush here, and her Secret would not be a secret here. Frederick from Hollywood would feel proud. The "Uniforms" by the cute waitresses would make some professional girls envious. This is really a little dive, Ma and Pa Quan Nha, or Vietnamese Cafe. No decorations, just flat screens and a smoking patio. The girls sit on a little stool waiting to refill your tea or coffee. The ambiance is better in a dive Pho place., except for the Help, of course! It serves no adult beverages, but whatever is served is definitely served by Adult women, you can see that pretty clearly. The patrons are mostly borderline low lifers, smokers, card players, Viet and Hispanic men looking for a cheap thrill with buddies. Ca Phe Sua Da is the standard $4. Try the avocado shake. read more

First time going to a Vietnamese coffee shop. I knew what to expect but I was still a bit disappointed. I'm too short to look past the counter, where they were all hiding behind. I guess I'll just drink more tea so they'll come refill it a few more times. The only downside is that I'll have to use their disgusting bathroom more often. TIP: get iced coffee, sit down, turn your head non-stop i would never come here but my coworkers brought me here during lunch and it was a blast. It's pretty much the perfect place to spend your 30 minutes after your 30 minute lunch (assuming you have an hour lunch). cheap drinks (don't serve food), huge flat screen tv's, huge hooters... i dont think u can beat that during your weekday work lunch. other than lunchtime, there's really no reason to go here unless you wanna bring friends here to see for the 1st time. read more

Update: Originally their outdoor patio was enclosed but is now an open area; they removed the surrounding fence and put shrubs in its place. This would get five stars if the visits were more consistent. Some days are meh, some days are wow! This cafe has mainly guy customers. Nothing wrong with that but sometimes it would be cool to see couples and/or females-only patrons. Their coffees are on the sweet side. The comp tea was okay, not too strong. The place is not that big, however there are usually 2-3 waitresses working. Smoking is outside only which is good for some people I suppose. This past month or so has been a bit of an eye opener for me. I was recently introduced to the East San Jose Vietnamese Cafe scene, and this review represents my second UYE of this kind, and my fourth visit to this kind of place. Most of you who read this probably know what these establishments are like, but for those who don't...There are four main components: lots of drinks (non-alcoholic), lots of TVs, lots of smoking, and scantily clad women. Make no mistake though, this is not a strip joint. Of the four places I've been to, this one rates by far the highest in...ummm....scantily clad women. They were very....ummm....attractive, and uh....more....ummm....scantily clad than any of the other places I'd been to. There really wasn't much left to the imagination....so to speak. If you're thinking of Hooters as a mental comparison, you might say Hooters women dress like nuns compared to Nguyen Expresso. Unlike some other places, smoking is in an outdoor side room only, and the inner cafe area is smoke free, which is probably a blessing for non-smoking patrons. The sua da tasted like sua da. Certainly nothing wrong with it, but frankly, the only reason to drink more than one is to....uh....call the waitresses over for refills. I had at least two sua da refills....and a few refills of the free ice tea...Funny, wasn't really thirsty either. To go to the bathroom, you have to pass the cash register where most of the waitresses congregate in between serving the patrons. Drinking so much meant, naturally, that I had to use the restroom and pass by the cashier counter....at least...oh, I dunno, maybe three or four times. If you're in the mood for some nice scenery, and hooters just doesn't seem to be where your mind's at, I think Nguyen won't let you down....so to speak. read more

I was excited to go there since we love coffee shops (and sexy women) lol When we walked in we just sat anywhere and waited to be helped (it was super hot in there) I asked if they have a menu and she said no, all they had was Strawberry smoothie, avocado smoothie, tea and espresso. She said everyone in there has to buy a drink or still gets charged for being in there since they're wearing sexy outfits. $8 a person but the girls are not doing anything to entertain you they actually just hang out in the back and can't even enjoy what you're supposed to be looking at. I tried to get the other girls attention but she ignored me. But after we paid and we're walking out, the one who ignored me had the nerve to ask us for a tip. Not cool lady. read more

My cousin called me up earlier this evening, demanding that I drive to San Jose for what he had named "Cultural Awareness Night." The plan was to grab some Jollibee for dinner, then end the night at this Vietnamese coffee shop. I go to graduate school for Ethnic Studies. My cousin is an engineer. Interested in just how far this rabbit hole went, I obliged. I'll cover my opinions on Jollibee in another review. Right now, I just want to talk about coffee. Nguyen Expresso is tucked away in a nondescript location, reminiscent of the Korean noraebangs I used to go to in college. The inside is rather spartan as well. Small round tables and chairs are scattered throughout, along with some old school top-down video game tables and some arcade game booths. I could imagine it being very cramped at peak hours. Flat screens line the drab, bare walls, rigged with Comcast, so you can watch whatever you could have watched by yourself at home. One television was hooked up to a DVD player, but instead of playing a movie, it played a burned CD of "Blue" (Da Ba Dee) by Eiffel 65. There are no menus. Although it is called "Nguyen Expresso[sic]," I did not spy an espresso machine. I'm not even entirely sure they serve coffee there. Green tea is complimentary. It is very hot and they serve it to you in glasses, so your fingerprints are immediately singed off when you try and take a sip. I wrapped my glass in a napkin, which almost helped. They also serve smoothies there. I don't recall what the flavors are, because I couldn't hear the waitress over "Da Ba Dee Da Ba Di." I think I heard her say "jackfruit," so I ended up having a jackfruit smoothie. It was sub-par, at best. Regardless of how negative my review is attempting to be, I am going to go back. Vietnamese coffee houses are the next big thing. I highly recommend this place as an alternative for a guy's night out... or even "Cultural Diversity Night." Ignorance is a cancer. read more

I like this place - there seems to be a tradeoff with these coffee places between the quality of the drinks, and the attractiveness of the girls, and how little they're wearing, etc. etc. None of them is perfect in every category but the balance here is the best I've found so far. This place seems to have three regular servers of varying levels of beauty, all reasonably friendly, all underdressed. The coffee is strong and good, the free iced tea is my favorite of these places, it's actually quite nice. It's not smokey. The customers are only mildly creepy. It's a good place to kill some time if you're in the area. read more

I like this coffee shop because it's a cool place to hang out and chill. I usually come here to play scratchers and super lottos. The waitresses here are "okay". Some of them are friendly and some of them are not very friendly at all. Also I like it here because it's a no smoking coffee shop. Recently, I had a very bad experience with the lady boss! I paid my table's drinks and decided to stay a little a longer to watch the football game. When I walked out of the shop, she chased after me and said that I did not pay for the drinks. WTF! I was embarrassed in front of the other fellow customers. It turns out she forgot to marked my table that I had paid for it. She was freaking busy chatting on the phone when I paid her. I told her I've already paid her. She later realized that I've paid for the coffee and apologized to me. I was so pissed! Anyways, I've learned my lesson. I will not paid my coffee in advance and probably ask her to give me a receipt or something to prove that I've paid for the drinks before I leave. read more

NGUYEN EXPRESSO This is one of the first Veitnamese coffee shops and the one that "started it all". The girls here may not be the hottest, but they wear G-Strings and barely-there bikinis, so if you're looking for ASSets and SKINtology, this is the place to go.
