Me and my husband saw this place pop up on Instagram and then we checked on YELP to make sure it had good ratings!!! We were in the area so we decided to have lunch here... We were ALSO one of the first customers in the restaurant today. I was really excited to try a dish I saw on Yelp called "Bahn Cuon thit nuong" but sadly they said they didn't have it. So maybe they should take off that picture? It's like their front cover picture... CRAB MEAT EGG ROLLS: 10/10 Be careful! It's so hot it burnt my tongue. The texture was really nice and crunchy and the filling was good... PHO: 9/10 It was pretty good. The broth was on the sweet side AND they DON'T HAVE JALAPEÑOS!!!??? FISH & VERMICELLI DISH: 7/10 presentation was beautiful! Looks like beauty was only on the outside for this dish. The fish was extremely dry and kind of cold. The sauce is very watery and on the sour side as well... SERVICE: B- There were friendly but, we had to flag them down for everything we needed like jalapeno, Togo boxes, ordering additional items, plates, etc. Also, you have to pay at the cashier... AMBIANCE: Beautiful, spacious and modern interior... SEE YOU LATER NGON!!!

Ordered their Pho Bo Hanoi - Output time - 5 minutes for main. 1.5 minutes for beverages to arrive. Proteins - Mainly consisted of rare steak fatty brisket. Broth 3.5/5 Portions- Fair amount of meat. The person in charge of slicing the flanks needs to cut the pieces into smaller flaps. The flank flaps were large and are a choking hazard. Value - pretty pricey while having little to none customization. Temperature- The rare steak was tender however the broth was still not hot enough to cook the beef all the way through which some pieces were discarded at the end of the meal. Freshness 5/5 Basils were Not a speck or hint of spoilage. Overall the Pho here is mix of (Pho Thin Franchise) and slight resemblance of home made pho style. Decor - is modern and gives off Vegas vibes settings. Parking is ample so be prepared to find residential Spots.

I remember going back to Vietnam and trying a place called Ngon. It was so impressive and thought this was the same concept, but it unfortunately wasn't. I saw they had some Bun Cha Ha Noi, so decided to give it a try anyway. We ended up going with the entire family. Upon arriving, we noticed that there was very limited parking in front of the restaurant. We had to park across the street and walk over. When we walked in, they let us know that it would be a 5-10 minute wait for a table for 6. We ended up waiting probably 15 or more minutes, but they were kind and apologized for the wait. We ended up ordering the following: Pho: Surprisingly, this was pretty good! I liked how the broth was not too fatty and like how they served it with fresh thick noodle instead of the default skinny noodle. The broth was flavorful, but I wish they would allow us to switch up the meat options. Bun Cha Ha Noi: This was good! I liked the sauce that it came in and the meat itself was not as fatty as I have seen it at other places. The veggie and bun portion was good for the amount of meat that they give you. I think this was worth the price. Crab Spring Rolls: These were meaty and crispy. We ended up getting the whole plate instead of just the appetizer since it seemed like a better deal. Although these were good, I kind of got flavor fatigue and was not able to eat more than just 1 roll. Banh Mi Que: This dish comes with 3 banh mi que and it was honestly pricey for what you get. The banh mi was a bit burnt and the pate and cha bong portion was lacking. Although it met the banh mi que craving, I would not get it again. Overall, this place was good. I wouldn't say I am dying to return and have the good again, but it was nice and clean. The only thing I would have to complain about is the overall smell in the restaurant. It smelled like dirty mop water or like an overhwhelming scent of vinegar if they are using that as a cleaning product. The staff was not very attentive and we were struggling to call them over several times during the meal. If you pay in cash, you do get a discount!

We ordered Bun cha Hanoi and Mien cua tron. The Bun cha was excellent, the grilled meats came out in the usual nuoc mam pha but it was warm! What a great idea. The taste was on point, the edges of the meat still retained bits of crispiness. The mien cua tron was enjoyable although don't expect lumps of crab. The broth had a deep earthiness to it. It lacked the brightness of herbs which I remedied by adding mint and basil from the Bun cha. The portions are generous. The space is airy and quite attractive. Plenty of parking.

The space is very clean and has good lighting. There's a lot of staff to help when it gets busy but we noticed it was a little hard to waive someone over when we wanted to order or ask for extra napkins etc. Our food came out before we got our water/drinks which was a little odd. The orange + carrot juice combo is really good. I can see why it's recommended and they squeeze it when you order. If you leave a Google review, any one drink is free! Bun Mang is too salty, even with added limes. There's too much MSG, and the duck was a little chewier than our preference, so we will stick to ordering this at other restaurants in OC. The Banh Mi Chao was really good. The bread is toasted to order, and came out hot. The flavors were great, but you don't notice the quality of the wagyu since it's doused in all the sauce. We would order this again! The Bun Cha was huge. As someone who eats a great amount, I left feeling satisfied, and it's quality food. I put it on par with the other restaurants in the area, but this portion size is bigger. The flavors are all there and my family would order this again.

On Sunday, my family and I went to Garden Grove to shop for Vietnamese items, then I yelped and located Ngon Restaurant. The place looks sleek and inviting, and we were seated soon away. We ordered the Bun Rieu (Vietnamese crab noodle soup), Pho Bo Ha Noi (Hanoi beef noodle soup), Bun Mang Vit (duck noodle soup with bamboo shoots), and the Combo, which includes Ca Kho Hoac Thit Kho Trung (braised fish/caramelized pork with egg), Canh Tom Mung Toi (Vietnamese spinach soup with shrimp), Dau Phu Tam Hanh (fried tofu with onions), Dua Cai Chua (pickled mustard greens), and Com Trang (steamed rice). When all of the food arrived at our table, the taste seemed odd, and we didn't particularly enjoy it... The combo set, in particular, does not appear to be worth $47.10 ($23.55 per person with a minimum of two persons), which is too pricey. The food was bland and the serving sizes were small; the Fried Tofu with Onions lacked flavor. We hadn't yet finished our food when I requested the waiter to bring us some to-go boxes to take home. The server just brought over a small to-go soup container. Hello!! We need more to-go boxes!! We all did not enjoy all the food, and the service was horrible. This spot is no longer on my list.

Stopped by on a Monday night and was pleasantly surprised by how spacious the restaurant was. The interior is modern and well-designed, and since it wasn't very busy, we were seated right away with no wait. Our food also came out pretty quickly, which I appreciated. That said, the menu felt a little limited, and the food itself didn't quite live up to expectations. We started with the crab meat spring rolls. They were nice and crispy, but I honestly couldn't taste much crab in the filling. I also ordered the dry crab red noodle mix, which ended up being the biggest disappointment of the meal. There wasn't much crab flavor at all. The noodles tasted very bland and felt slightly undercooked, almost like plain noodles with very little seasoning. There was a bit of liquid sitting at the bottom of the bowl, but it didn't add any noticeable flavor or help bring the dish together. Overall, the restaurant has a nice atmosphere, fast service, and plenty of seating, but the food lacked the flavor I was hoping for. Unfortunately, the dishes we tried didn't leave much of an impression.

You could eat at a different Vietnamese restaurant every day in Little Saigon and still never run out of places worth talking about. That's what makes this community so special. Every family has their own recipes, every restaurant has its own personality, and every meal tells a story. Ngon delivered one of those meals. Despite being packed at 11 a.m. on a Sunday, our party of seven was seated immediately, an impressive start. The dining room was clean with a tasteful, modern design that made the space feel comfortable and inviting without losing its neighborhood charm. The Bánh Mì Chảo arrived sizzling with a rich beefsteak, sunny side egg, Vietnamese sausage, pâté, and plenty of savory sauce made for soaking up with the bread. The side loaf that comes with the plate deserves its own mention. It had a beautifully crisp, crackly crust while staying soft, light, and airy inside, making it impossible not to finish every last piece. We also love pâté, and this dish used it perfectly without overpowering everything else. The Xôi Thịt Kho Trứng paired sticky rice with tender braised pork belly, a fried egg, crisp pickled vegetables, and crunchy fried shallots for a comforting combination of sweet, salty, and savory. The Bún Chả Hà Nội featured a bright, balanced broth with fresh herbs and delicate rice noodles. The grilled pork had excellent smoky flavor, although the pork patties were a little tougher than I prefer. We also shared a Bánh Mì Que, whose crisp bread and savory pork floss made for a simple but addictive bite. The Vietnamese coffee was just as memorable: clean, smooth, pure tasting, and free of bitterness. The iced green jasmine tea was very refreshing. I would order both drinks again. Some restaurants serve Vietnamese food. Places like this celebrate it.

As someone who grew up eating both Northern and Southern Vietnamese food, I can honestly say Ngon does an amazing job with Northern flavors. The standout dishes for me were the cơm phần and the bún măng vịt. The cơm phần immediately brought back memories of my dad's home cooking. Every dish was well-seasoned without being overly heavy, and it had that comforting, balanced flavor that's hard to find. The bún măng vịt was just as memorable--the broth was clean and aromatic, the duck was tender, and the bamboo shoots added the perfect bite without overpowering the soup. I also appreciated that the portions were generous, the ingredients tasted fresh, and the presentation was thoughtful. The restaurant itself is clean, spacious, and comfortable, making it a great place for a casual lunch or dinner with family. Northern Vietnamese restaurants are much harder to find in Orange County, so it's exciting to have a place like this. If you've only had Southern Vietnamese food, this is a great spot to experience a different regional style. I'll definitely be back to try more of the menu.

I've been in a phase of making my own Vietnamese food/rolls lately and was excited to try this place, but unfortunately left disappointed. We ordered these two below, and overall sauces were not good, veggie proportions for the meal was off, quality was lacking and inconsistent, meat was not great. Vermicelli with crab meat spring rolls (Bun Nem cua be)- saw crab meat and wanted to try it, but it tasted nothing like crab. The rolls themselves were hot and crispy, and enjoyable when fresh. The fish sauce on the side was lacking and could've had much more flavor if it was better. Pork wrapped in rice paper (Thit heo cuon banh thang mam nem)- Underwhelming. So little carrots and the pork slices were very thin and tasteless. Also it was interesting that it includes pineapple slices. The fermented sauce was not good at all. Viet Coffee was also not filled all the way, despite already having a lot of ice, and it was overly sweet. I added water just to balance it out a bit. The restaurant itself looks modern, clean, and nicely designed, but overall I wasn't impressed with the gimmicky presentation and the food didn't live up to expectations.

    Crab egg rolls

The bun cha Ha Noi & the crab egg rolls were the stars of our dining experience here. The crab egg rolls were bursting with flavor. It was fried just the right way. I got the bun rieu for myself & it was prob my least favorite out of all the bun rieu I tried in garden grove/westminster area. It didn't have that much crab meat (the crab meat was what made that dish). & it lacked a ton of flavor. The restaurant was busy but expected for a Sunday. Service was ok, better than most Vietnamese restaurants here in OC. Loved the decor here! It def looked bougie!

    Combo set
    Michelle ..

I came in craving a taste of a Vietnamese home cooked meal and was served exactly that! The combo set came with a variety of dishes you might see at grandma's house. Fried tofu was not super crispy, but on the light and airy side with a sweet and savory sauce. The braised pork (thit kho) had a deep caramelized sauce and tender meat, though the egg appeared to be deep fried and tough to eat with it's rubbery texture. It may have been in the pot a bit too long. Most comforting was the simple but warm spinach soup, clean but tasty. It was on the slightly more salty end but would be perfect with rice. To complement, there were pickled mustard greens and salted roasted peanuts. Some of these would be easy to make at home but a great value for a homey meal outside.

4.5/5 My family went on a Saturday night. We got seated right away. The restaurant is nice, modern and comfortable (thought the bathroom could've used some attention). Food was good. We got bun rieu, banh mi chao, and thit heo banh trang. I really liked the mango iced tea.

Have been to this restaurant many times, and food is always consistent! Came visit to the restaurant last week, and ordered my favorite Grilled Escargot with Garlic Butter and Peppercorn, Grilled Scallops with Cheese, and my all-time favorite Chilean Sea Bass hot pot! The grilled escargots are a must-have when visiting this place! These are perfectly grilled with rich garlic butter for sweetness, and with a slight kick of spiciness from the peppercorn. Don't forget to also dip the escargot meat with black pepper and a few squeeze of fresh lime juice! If you like melted cheese, then the grilled scallops with cheese would be the perfect match. Each scallop is covered melted cheese and comes sizzling on a hot plate when ordered! Last but certainly not least, my favorite dish of this restaurant is the Chilean Sea Bass hot pot. The order comes with your own tabletop gas stove, along with a hot pot filled with a tom yum like sour soup base. For ingredients, it also includes a plate with slices of pineapple, quarter cut fresh tomato slices, fresh bean sprouts, rice noodles, and a full plate of large pieces of Chilean Sea Bass. Just put all the ingredients in the hot pot and let it cook for 5-10mins on high, I promise you it is one of the best soups you will ever have! Service is good as always. This place always seems to be busy, so you may have to be on the waitlist during certain business hours (eg holidays, prime dinner time, etc). Parking wise, the restaurant is located in a busy plaza, and so you may have to drive around a few times before finding an open spot. However as I said earlier, it's worth the wait. Highly recommended.

The mango squid salad was also really fresh and had a unique flavor that stood out. Overall, all of the dishes tasted like they were made fresh to order. The only thing I probably wouldn't order again is the bread. It was fine, but it was really just an ordinary loaf of bread and nothing particularly special compared to the other dishes. There are still so many other dishes I want to try next time, so I'll definitely be coming back!

Mama Hieu's started out during COVID and was a small business that was selling plates from the house and due to all of their success, opened up two brick and mortar locations! The spicy garlic butter chicken was soooo good and crispy! It was actually pretty spicy too. I love how they included the pickled veggies! The box came with 7 wings and two scoops of rice and your choice of sauce. We got the Mama Sauce, which was a mayo like sauce. We didn't know what the Andy's Special flavor tasted like, but the workers explained that the flavor is similar to Vietnamese style crab (cua rang). So like oyster sauce, garlic, fish sauce like flavor; sticky. It was hella good!!! No need to dip in the side sauce either. Their fried chicken comes in many unique flavors like salted egg yolk and fish sauce. We weren't really feeling the garlic noodles; come here for the fried chicken box with rice instead! Definitely coming back next time we're in LA!

I've seen so many IG reels about this spot and let me just say it did not disappoint! Love at first bite. The wings were hot and spicy! I ordered 4 pcs spicy garlic butter + 4 pcs fish sauce wings. Everything smelled so good! The chicken wings were fried to perfection. I liked the spicy garlic butter a tad bit more cause I like dry rub. Although the fish sauce was yummy as well. Not too fishy but had good flavor. The staff here were very friendly. I would come back!

Be prepared: this place is incredibly popular, especially during peak hours. Parking can definitely be challenging because of how busy it is. The last time I visited on a Monday, the lot was completely full, and I ended up parking on the street. The restaurant is also primarily cash only, so come prepared. They open early, making it a perfect breakfast spot for an early bowl of pho. The pho broth is exactly what I want when I'm craving comfort food--clean, flavorful, and incredibly soothing. However, the star of the meal for me was the chả giò. Wow. Although they arrived after our pho, they came out at the perfect temperature. I was hesitant to take a bite right away because freshly fried food usually burns my mouth, but these were just right. Crispy, airy, savory, and absolutely delicious. Paired with their fish sauce, it was perfection. I enjoyed the egg rolls so much that next time I'm definitely ordering the egg roll vermicelli bowl. Service was friendly and prompt despite how busy it was, and it's clear the staff works hard to keep things moving. One thing I love is seeing all of the awards and accolades displayed on the walls. Phở 79 received the prestigious James Beard America's Classics Award, and it's easy to understand why after one meal here. This restaurant is truly an Orange County icon. The restaurant will soon be moving to a new location, as signs throughout the restaurant announce the upcoming move. While I'll miss the original spot, I'm excited for the new space--hopefully with more parking! Some places are worth the wait, and Phở 79 is absolutely one of them.

The flavors of the pho and fried rice were perfect! Savory Wagyu fried rice with that rich Wagyu taste. And the combination pho had a lot of meat which was all very good and tender. The broth was a win too. You get a taste of all the spices that are supposed to stand out in a bowl of pho. I liked that the thin noodles were chewy and not overcooked. The fries were also really good and our boys of course loved them! The service was outstanding. Our waiter was so kind and accommodating with our requests. It's a pretty decent sized restaurant

You can tell they put a lot of time and care into making it. The Wagyu beef was the real highlight. The quality of the meat really elevated the entire bowl and made it feel like a premium pho experience. The noodles were perfectly cooked, the fresh herbs added great aroma, and every ingredient tasted fresh. The portions were generous, and the presentation was beautiful from the moment it arrived at the table. The restaurant was clean, modern, and welcoming, and the staff were friendly, attentive, and made the dining experience even better.
