You could eat at a different Vietnamese restaurant every day in Little Saigon and still never run out of places worth talking about. That's what makes this community so special. Every family has their own recipes, every restaurant has its own personality, and every meal tells a story. Ngon delivered one of those meals. Despite being packed at 11 a.m. on a Sunday, our party of seven was seated immediately, an impressive start. The dining room was clean with a tasteful, modern design that made the space feel comfortable and inviting without losing its neighborhood charm. The Bánh Mì Chảo arrived sizzling with a rich beefsteak, sunny side egg, Vietnamese sausage, pâté, and plenty of savory sauce made for soaking up with the bread. The side loaf that comes with the plate deserves its own mention. It had a beautifully crisp, crackly crust while staying soft, light, and airy inside, making it impossible not to finish every last piece. We also love pâté, and this dish used it perfectly without overpowering everything else. The Xôi Thịt Kho Trứng paired sticky rice with tender braised pork belly, a fried egg, crisp pickled vegetables, and crunchy fried shallots for a comforting combination of sweet, salty, and savory. The Bún Chả Hà Nội featured a bright, balanced broth with fresh herbs and delicate rice noodles. The grilled pork had excellent smoky flavor, although the pork patties were a little tougher than I prefer. We also shared a Bánh Mì Que, whose crisp bread and savory pork floss made for a simple but addictive bite. The Vietnamese coffee was just as memorable: clean, smooth, pure tasting, and free of bitterness. The iced green jasmine tea was very refreshing. I would order both drinks again. They should change their name to 'dở' (meaning bad). My family is convinced that this location is cursed. The restaurant that they replaced also wasn't very successful, and we don't really see this place lasting very long either. I kind of already knew that this place was going to be a letdown when I first saw the sign outside. A lot of these modern Vietnamese restaurants focus way too much on the aesthetics instead of maintaining tasty, authentic recipes. My sister wanted to try this place, though, after seeing someone rave about it on social media. The menu offers a decent range of items, but everything was either extremely salty or completely bland. I absolutely love bánh mì chảo and found that it was the only decent item that we had. My dad is obsessed with mắm nêm and loves any dish where you get to dip something in it, but theirs was so salty and incredibly difficult to finish. * Bánh Mì Chảo Bò Wagyu: 8/10 - wagyu was salty and I wish they gave me a larger baguette * Bún Măng Vịt: 5/10 - broth was bland, and fish sauce had no ginger * Bánh Đa Cua Hải Phòng: 6/10 - soup could've had more flavor * Thịt Heo Cuốn Bánh Tráng Mắm Nêm: 6/10 - mắm nêm was so salty and bitter The interior, however, is quite beautiful and I love how they offer booth seating. One thing we didn't like, however, was that he didn't tell us that there would be an extra charge for asking for more mắm nêm. I genuinely really enjoyed my lunch here. For reference, Com Tam Thuan Kieu used to exist here. With the new restaurant, the space got a glow up and honestly, the finishes are so nice. They specialize in mostly Northern cuisine (so trendy). My sister and I started with an order of bánh mì que ($10.55 for 3 pcs). The mini baguettes are filled with pate and topped with pork floss. I didn't love the version here. I found the baguette to be too soft and the pate was slathered in excess. Yikes. Not to my liking. For entrees, we shared the following: -thịt heo cuốn bánh tráng mắm nêm ($19.55) -bún chả Hà Nội ($17.55) Their version of bún chả Hà Nội is quite good. There's good flavoring in the sauce. The meat is nicely charred and they give you plenty of hamburger patties. This is one of the better renditions I've had in a while, To be honest, I've only ever eaten thịt heo cuốn bánh tráng mắm nêm at my mama's house, so this was an absolute treat. The platter comes with pork belly, veggies, vermicelli, slivers of pineapple, and bi (shredded pork skin). They clearly took notes from the motherland because I've only encountered fresh pieces of pineapple in Vietnam. The inclusion of pineapple is shockingly good. It helps cut the saltiness if the mắm. And while people tend to include pineapple pieces in the mắm nêm, I like thatthey went to the direct source and give you fresh pineapple. Refreshing and perfect to the spring roll. I can see why this place is not for everyone - prices are a bit high and some of the dishes are new new so there's no baseline to compare it to. Came here on a Sunday afternoon for a late lunch. My group of 4 must've missed a maybe lunch rush because half the tables still had dirty dishes. When my group came in, there was probably 3-4 groups/couples. And being seated didnt take long. There seemed to be at the minimum 2-3 people working when we came in. The waiter seemed to be making rounds clearing the tables throughout our dining. It was a little off putting. Food was good. At the time, it was cold and it sprinkled. Our party ordered 4 phos and the grilled catfish to share. We didn't need the shared dish for sure and needed to bag it up at the end of our meal. The pho was okay; it had a good herbal flavor and it was larger than my expectation. The meat was thicker than my liking however. I never had the grilled catfish dish and really enjoyed the dill and pineapple. I'd say that their wrap dishes might be what they are more known for. There was a steak and baguette dish that someone in my group wanted to try but unfortunately they ran out of baguette. Overall restaurant layout and furnishing is great. Honestly, I thoroughly enjoyed my dining experience at Ngon. I had this place bookmarked for a while now so I decided to go with my family. Yes it's located in a strip mall and yes it's nicer than most Vietnamese restaurants in Westminster/garden grove but the quality of the food was really good. We ordered the egg rolls, pho, bun cha hanoi and ca nuong. All of the dishes were super tasty! I also thought the service was good too. I mean it's not gonna be over the top service like what you'd get at Mastros but it was still pretty good. This is definitely on my list of to go viet restaurants. read more

Ordered their Pho Bo Hanoi - Output time - 5 minutes for main. 1.5 minutes for beverages to arrive. Proteins - Mainly consisted of rare steak fatty brisket. Broth 3.5/5 Portions- Fair amount of meat. The person in charge of slicing the flanks needs to cut the pieces into smaller flaps. The flank flaps were large and are a choking hazard. Value - pretty pricey while having little to none customization. Temperature- The rare steak was tender however the broth was still not hot enough to cook the beef all the way through which some pieces were discarded at the end of the meal. Freshness 5/5 Basils were Not a speck or hint of spoilage. Overall the Pho here is mix of (Pho Thin Franchise) and slight resemblance of home made pho style. I remember going back to Vietnam and trying a place called Ngon. It was so impressive and thought this was the same concept, but it unfortunately wasn't. I saw they had some Bun Cha Ha Noi, so decided to give it a try anyway. We ended up going with the entire family. Upon arriving, we noticed that there was very limited parking in front of the restaurant. We had to park across the street and walk over. When we walked in, they let us know that it would be a 5-10 minute wait for a table for 6. We ended up waiting probably 15 or more minutes, but they were kind and apologized for the wait. We ended up ordering the following: Pho: Surprisingly, this was pretty good! I liked how the broth was not too fatty and like how they served it with fresh thick noodle instead of the default skinny noodle. The broth was flavorful, but I wish they would allow us to switch up the meat options. Bun Cha Ha Noi: This was good! I liked the sauce that it came in and the meat itself was not as fatty as I have seen it at other places. The veggie and bun portion was good for the amount of meat that they give you. I think this was worth the price. Crab Spring Rolls: These were meaty and crispy. We ended up getting the whole plate instead of just the appetizer since it seemed like a better deal. Although these were good, I kind of got flavor fatigue and was not able to eat more than just 1 roll. Banh Mi Que: This dish comes with 3 banh mi que and it was honestly pricey for what you get. The banh mi was a bit burnt and the pate and cha bong portion was lacking. Although it met the banh mi que craving, I would not get it again. Overall, this place was good. I wouldn't say I am dying to return and have the good again, but it was nice and clean. The only thing I would have to complain about is the overall smell in the restaurant. There's a lot of staff to help when it gets busy but we noticed it was a little hard to waive someone over when we wanted to order or ask for extra napkins etc. Our food came out before we got our water/drinks which was a little odd. The orange + carrot juice combo is really good. I can see why it's recommended and they squeeze it when you order. If you leave a Google review, any one drink is free! Bun Mang is too salty, even with added limes. There's too much MSG, and the duck was a little chewier than our preference, so we will stick to ordering this at other restaurants in OC. The Banh Mi Chao was really good. The bread is toasted to order, and came out hot. The flavors were great, but you don't notice the quality of the wagyu since it's doused in all the sauce. We would order this again! The Bun Cha was huge. As someone who eats a great amount, I left feeling satisfied, and it's quality food. On Sunday, my family and I went to Garden Grove to shop for Vietnamese items, then I yelped and located Ngon Restaurant. The place looks sleek and inviting, and we were seated soon away. We ordered the Bun Rieu (Vietnamese crab noodle soup), Pho Bo Ha Noi (Hanoi beef noodle soup), Bun Mang Vit (duck noodle soup with bamboo shoots), and the Combo, which includes Ca Kho Hoac Thit Kho Trung (braised fish/caramelized pork with egg), Canh Tom Mung Toi (Vietnamese spinach soup with shrimp), Dau Phu Tam Hanh (fried tofu with onions), Dua Cai Chua (pickled mustard greens), and Com Trang (steamed rice). When all of the food arrived at our table, the taste seemed odd, and we didn't particularly enjoy it... The combo set, in particular, does not appear to be worth $47.10 ($23.55 per person with a minimum of two persons), which is too pricey. The food was bland and the serving sizes were small; the Fried Tofu with Onions lacked flavor. We hadn't yet finished our food when I requested the waiter to bring us some to-go boxes to take home. The server just brought over a small to-go soup container. Hello!! We need more to-go boxes!! We all did not enjoy all the food, and the service was horrible. The interior is modern and well-designed, and since it wasn't very busy, we were seated right away with no wait. Our food also came out pretty quickly, which I appreciated. That said, the menu felt a little limited, and the food itself didn't quite live up to expectations. We started with the crab meat spring rolls. They were nice and crispy, but I honestly couldn't taste much crab in the filling. I also ordered the dry crab red noodle mix, which ended up being the biggest disappointment of the meal. There wasn't much crab flavor at all. The noodles tasted very bland and felt slightly undercooked, almost like plain noodles with very little seasoning. We ordered these two below, and overall sauces were not good, veggie proportions for the meal was off, quality was lacking and inconsistent, meat was not great. Vermicelli with crab meat spring rolls (Bun Nem cua be)- saw crab meat and wanted to try it, but it tasted nothing like crab. The rolls themselves were hot and crispy, and enjoyable when fresh. The fish sauce on the side was lacking and could've had much more flavor if it was better. Pork wrapped in rice paper (Thit heo cuon banh thang mam nem)- Underwhelming. So little carrots and the pork slices were very thin and tasteless. Also it was interesting that it includes pineapple slices. The fermented sauce was not good at all. Viet Coffee was also not filled all the way, despite already having a lot of ice, and it was overly sweet. I added water just to balance it out a bit. I came in craving a taste of a Vietnamese home cooked meal and was served exactly that! The combo set came with a variety of dishes you might see at grandma's house. Fried tofu was not super crispy, but on the light and airy side with a sweet and savory sauce. The braised pork (thit kho) had a deep caramelized sauce and tender meat, though the egg appeared to be deep fried and tough to eat with it's rubbery texture. It may have been in the pot a bit too long. Most comforting was the simple but warm spinach soup, clean but tasty. It was on the slightly more salty end but would be perfect with rice. It wasn't a huge deal but some of the party was left awkwardly waiting while everyone else started to eat. - FOOD - Bun Cha Ha Noi: This was the dish that replaced the Banh Cuon Thit Nuong, so I got this one instead. Stopped by this second location and had a really solid meal overall for dinner with the family. There was cushion seating for groups, and we sat to order a dish for each of us. The crab egg rolls stood out right away, and you can actually taste the crab, not just filler, and they came out crispy and well balanced. My wife ordered the catfish, and that was another win. Fresh, soft, and full of flavor without being too rich. But all the dishes are a bit fancy for the price, so we were at least expecting more portions too. I went with the Hanoi pork bún, and the patties were the highlight. Nice flavor, good texture, and the fat oil wasn't overly a salty bomb. Don't forget to add the sliced pickled garlic here, as that garnishment really brought everything together. I do wish there was just a bit more meat in the bowl, but it still hit the spot. Service was alright, not amazing but not careless either. The place is newly opened, clean, and easy to find. The portions are a bit small for the price, so it feels a little pricey after eating. As someone who grew up eating both Northern and Southern Vietnamese food, I can honestly say Ngon does an amazing job with Northern flavors. The standout dishes for me were the cơm phần and the bún măng vịt. The cơm phần immediately brought back memories of my dad's home cooking. Every dish was well-seasoned without being overly heavy, and it had that comforting, balanced flavor that's hard to find. The bún măng vịt was just as memorable--the broth was clean and aromatic, the duck was tender, and the bamboo shoots added the perfect bite without overpowering the soup. I also appreciated that the portions were generous, the ingredients tasted fresh, and the presentation was thoughtful. The restaurant itself is clean, spacious, and comfortable, making it a great place for a casual lunch or dinner with family. Northern Vietnamese restaurants are much harder to find in Orange County, so it's exciting to have a place like this. If you've only had Southern Vietnamese food, this is a great spot to experience a different regional style. I'll definitely be back to try more of the menu. read more

Fast forward to Spring Break 2026, we made the drive to come check this new establishment out between our Disneyland visits. Beautiful tile on the walls, simple bamboo touches in the wall dividers. We were seated right away, only a couple other tables were eating when we arrived at 10:30am. No greetings or smiles from staff, felt a bit cold and distant. We looked over the menu, server stopped by and asked if we were ready to order and I shared no as it was our first time there. The server recommended getting the signature dishes. We started off with (2) orders of the BANH MI QUE Mini baguette sticks with pate (3 pcs) as we loved this app at Sen (another local restaurant. This one was ok, pate wasn't creamy, more of a slightly chunky and dry texture/taste. Partner ordered the first item under signature dishes PHỞ BÒ HÀ NỘI and I ordered the NEM CUA BỂ Crab meat spring rolls (3 pcs). For my sons, my boys both love a good Vietnamese Sizzling Steak and Eggs (Bò Né) and we will travel far and wide to satisfy their tummy cravings! This restaurant calls it BÁNH MÌ CHẢO BÒ WAGYU described as Baguette with combo pan Wagyu beef. The NEM CUA BỂ Crab meat spring rolls (3 pcs) that I ordered arrived first cut in half with ONE lettuce, cilantro and mint. Eggrolls were not anything special. Not crunchy, and without the additional lettuce, my last couple bites were lacking the fresh greens to go with. Next up was the Pho with a plate of bean sprouts. The pho is described as a northern style clear simply yet savory beef broth. I did get to sample and I felt like the usual pho spices of star anise, cinnamon, and cloves wasn't very noticeable. Broth was a tad bland. They didn't bring out any pho condiments like hoisin or siracha when they brought the bowl out. This was a huge miss for us as we saw these bottles of condiments at every table except ours oddly enough. Last out was the sizzling wagyu plates that arrived with no sizzle. Meat was thin and tender. Sauce was ok. Our Server never checked on us to ensure everything was ok or if we needed anything. We all had one napkin each. I would have asked for more lettuce and napkins if anyone was available for us to ask but no one was really around when we wanted to ask. Our server wasn't attentive and the restaurant wasn't busy. I walked up to the pay counter and was read my order and I paid, tipped and left. No thank you's, comments such as come again, questions of experience or anything. My highlight of this trip, this is next to cococane where I can grab my sugar cane beverage fix before leaving. Shrugs. With so many great Vietnamese restaurants in SoCal, I wouldn't come back. Aesethically, it fits well with the decor of today's clean, organic, natural trendy vibe. They took over the previous restaurant that I grew up knowing in this part of town. Taste and food-wise, I wish Ngon (translated in Vietnamese, means delicious) was more...well, ngon. I tried the restaurant twice. The first time I ordered the Band Da Cua Tron (dry crab red noodle) and I anticipated chewy, soft, bouncy wide noodles. Unfortunately, it was a major disappointment as the noodles came out stale, as if it was from the day before? The broth and sauce, or should I say the lack thereof, left much to be desired. The vietnamese coffee: I did not ask for less ice but it came looking like someone took a huge gulp of my coffee...it was missing 1/4 of the cup. I thought it was an off-day so I suggested to my friend to try a second time and I ordered the ca nuong (grilled fish with fermented sauce and rice paper). The visual upon arrival to our table was 10/10; the grilled fish portions had a beautiful amber and turmeric color, the filets of fish were huge and the herbs looked fresh. Without wasting time, I bit into a morsel of fish only to find a tough, dry and flavorless bite. Disappointment had set in a second time for me. Went to Garden Grove to check out Ngon for some northern Vietnamese food. The restaurant is spacious and has a good amount of tables. We got to try the bun nem cua be which were crab meat spring rolls, banh ba cua hai phong which was a red crab noodle soup and ca nuong riêng me cuon banh trang which was grilled fish where you wrapped your own spring rolls. The crab meat spring rolls were deep fried and came with lettuce, herbs and vermicelli. You would use the lettuce as the base and add the herbs on top with the fried spring roll and do a wrap. It pairs well with the fish sauce. The rolls were crispy and not oily. There was a good amount of meat in each roll. The red crab noodle soup was made with a clear broth. It tasted clean and I enjoyed all the veggies inside. It had morning glory and bean sprouts inside which gave the rice noodles a crunch as you take each bite. The grilled fish was delicious. It was meaty and had nice flavor. It came with rice paper on the side so you could roll your own spring rolls. I would wet the rice paper and add the veggies followed by fish on top and roll it up then dip in the fish sauce. I enjoyed the meal as you are able to use your hands to eat. It is just a different type of dining experience. All the dishes came with a lot of fresh veggies as well so it is a healthier alternative. read more

Food was so yummy & filling! Prepare to get your hands dirty though because everything is like "DIY" "build it yourself"!! We started off with the pho, pretty basic nothing special. Just your beef & noodles! But I love me some soup. The star of the show though was the BÚN CHẢ HÀ NỘI which translates to Hanoi Grill Pork rice noodles. I's actually like marinated in the fish sauce which made it so flavorful! Then we got the BÚN NEM CUA BỂ which translates to Rice vermicelli with crab meat spring rolls (4 pcs)!! Finally tried this place with my parents and thought everything we ordered was good. My parents are usually picky but they were satisfied with all the dishes. We got nem cua be, bun cha ha noi, mien cua tron, and ca nuong banh trang. Portion was big, all the ingredients seem fresh, and everything we got was tasty. Would definitely come back. Around noon on a Monday, there was no wait and easy plaza parking out front. Inside is modern! Food is alright. - Pho Bo Ha Noi $16.95: The flavor of the soup is there! Not bad, but I may be biased bc I prefer the chew of the smaller pho noodles while these fresh, bigger ones are softer. - Bun Rieu Oc Bo Dau $16.95: The chewy and fluffy tofu were my fave of this dish. The essence of the soup wasn't there and I prefer the version with the crab and egg omelet that I'm used to. - Bun Mang Vit $16.95: Unique. I liked the bamboo and the duck was good but dad said it's not what he's used to either. The name of the restaurant is supposed to represent "delicious" but the food was far from it. Upon arrival, there was barely anyone. Seated quickly. We ordered the egg rolls, meat platter with fermented shrimp (side) and their fish roll dish. The flavor was a bit off for me-unable to explain but somehow it's not lacking nor was it salty...it was just off. Even with the fish sauce, it wasn't flavorful. Would I go back again, no. They also were apologetic when orders were incorrectly delivered. Little interactions like this makes a huge difference with dining experiences and breaks cultural expectations from Vietnamese restaurants. Food is decent here. You will have a simple variety in terms of choices. Best to share with a family so you can try various versions of dishes. Their banh mi chao was my favorite. Needed more bread to soak up that delicious juice! Try their crab eggroll. That's something you don't get to try often. Overall, great place to sample various Vietnamese staples. read more

A Vietnamese restaurant located inside the Little Saigon area of Garden Grove. It has a nicer ambience than some of the others and the food is really good as well. Honestly, you really can't go wrong in this area, but I felt that the restaurant was reasonably priced for a large portion sizes and the food was authentically delicious. Our table tried to variety of noodle soup dishes, as well as their famous fish rice paper wrap platter. The appetizers started out strong with the spring rolls and a very fresh duck salad. I've heard others say that the pricing is a bit more expensive than in the area, but I feel like the ambience of the restaurant and presentation of the food justified the cost. We ordered the Hanoi Beef Pho, Crab Spring Rolls, Garlic Chicken Wings Rice, and the Wagyu Sizzling Baguette. Everything was delicious. The pho broth was light, flavorful, and comforting. The crab spring rolls were perfectly crispy, and the fish sauce pairing was excellent. My favorite was the Wagyu sizzling plate with baguette--the beef was tender and juicy, and the crispy bread soaked up all the flavorful sauce. We went to Ngon in Garden Grove, and honestly, I really wanted to give them their flowers--but sadly, this wasn't the case. The interior is beautiful: very modern, clean, and aesthetically pleasing. Unfortunately, the food didn't quite live up to the atmosphere. Some dishes were better than others, but overall it felt just okay--especially for the price point. What we ordered: * Bánh Mì Chảo * Bún Nem Cua Bể * Bánh Mì Que * Bánh Đa Cua Hải Phòng I truly don't mind paying for good food, but when the price doesn't match the quality or portion, that's where the disappointment sets in. The highlight of the meal was definitely the Bánh Mì Que (mini baguettes with pâté)--simple, flavorful, and satisfying. The Bánh Mì Chảo was the biggest letdown. At nearly $20, the portion was very small and not worth the price at all. It felt underwhelming right from the moment it hit the table. The Bún Nem Cua Bể was one of the better items we tried and stood out compared to the rest of the dishes. The Bánh Đa Cua Hải Phòng (Hai Phong crab red noodle soup) was decent. It came out hot, which was great, and while I haven't had this dish before, it wasn't bad--just nothing memorable. Service-wise, we were seated within 5-10 minutes on New Year's Day, which was nice. However, we had 5 people seated at a table meant for 4, so it was definitely cramped. One major issue was that our soup bowl had a chip in it, which was unexpected--especially for a fairly new restaurant. That shouldn't be happening. It also seemed like they were understaffed. When our server took our order, she mentioned several items were already sold out or would take much longer to prepare, which definitely swayed our ordering decisions. Overall, Ngon has a great-looking space, but the execution, portions, and value didn't quite hit the mark for us. Tried out the new Ngon restaurant because I saw it on social media and was less than impressed. The service and food were definitely mid tier for my liking. My bf and I ordered the crab egg rolls, bun rieu, and banh mi chao. Nothing really stood out to us. The flavors were a little different but it didn't amaze me. The baguette for the my banh mi chao came out super late too. I think they need to work on the timing of when everything comes out. For the crab egg rolls, they only give 1 piece of lettuce along with the other toppings (dau chua, mint, cucumber slices, etc) to make a wrap. I mean really.. you can't give 3 eggrolls (cut into 6 pieces) and 1 dinky piece of lettuce. The service was on the slower side. Took a long time for someone to come by and take our order. However, I know it's still their soft opening. So hopefully this will at least improve. They remodeled the space to look nice and elevated so the service should match as well. Be mindful that they have a 3% fee when you pay with credit card. read more

Ambiance: My boyfriend and I went on Christmas Day, super packed but we were immediately seated since it was just the two of us. Interior is beautiful, although I noticed that some of the light bulbs had already needed to be changed since they were flickering right above us. Food: Servers were very friendly. However, it took very long for the food to come out. We get it, it's busy given Christmas Day, but they should know that and prepare going in. Everything was good, but the food portions were also very small, I left still feeling hungry. Service: We ordered 2 crab noodle soups, one for here and one for togo. We also ordered the pork wrapped in rice paper for here and one mam pho cuon togo. The server read our orders out loud and confirmed with us, everything was correct. Unfortunately, they also messed up our orders and made both the crab noodle soups togo and the mam pho cuon for here. Our togo orders came out before our actual meals this. Also, the table that was sat down after us got their food before us AND they ordered the same dish as us. We had to flag down several waiters/servers to fix this. One worker said "sorry about that, server who took your order doesn't have very good Vietnamese" got me dying LOL. They apologized, but next time there could be better communication between all of the staff. read more
