This is very popular brunch place in Markham - but the options are more limited up here. Came with my parents to see what the hype is about (a few years after the hype has died down, but oh well). I must say that I do understand why people are drawn to the restaurant - it is very pretty and makes for wonderful pictures! This includes the lovely visuals of the food, which is beautifully presented and extremely photogenic. The taste of the food, although quite acceptable, fell just a bit short of its looks. The variety of colours was not matched with a variety of flavours, and everything was somewhat on the salty and greasy side. That being said, we very much enjoyed the potato hash, pancakes, and French toast. The portion sizes also outdid themselves - if you're coming here for brunch, just be prepared for a long nap in the afternoon! Service was excellent: prompt, helpful, and friendly. The interior is fairly spacious and elegantly decorated. Overall, a pleasant experience even if it's not the most spectacular - and perhaps worth a visit for some based on the aesthetics alone.
Came here on a Saturday night; dinner here is perfect for any date night or girls night out! Ambiance feels really classy and calm; and the service is great! Our waitress made sure to keep checking in on us throughout the night. Food is really great as well! Everything is made in-house I believe, so it took some time for it to come out, but tasted incredible. We got to meet the chef, who explained what each dish was, which was a cool experience! We stayed for several hours after finishing our meal, and they let us stay despite getting close to closing time. Also, if you give them a 5-star review on Google, you can get free truffle fries, haha!
I think I enjoyed their regular menu more than the new Filipino inspired dishes. Everything was presented nicely but were mostly lacking a little bit of that je ne sais quoi to make things extra special. I've definitely had dishes from here that were super amazing before. The ambiance is always nice here. The hostess always super nice. A few times we asked for something and the wait staff forgot but it must've been a long day. Always a great spot to go to get together with friends! Definitely going back but not for this featured menu in particular.
Went seeking a restaurant that my mom would love for her birthday that I would also be able to eat at being a vegan and all. They have one vegan main dish on the menu and it is honestly not normally something I would have gone for but it truly knocked my socks off. The "salmon" has the texture of actual salmon it really throws one for a loop when you aren't expecting it. My non-vegan wife even wanted to give it a try it was so convincing! The restaurant is absolutely stunning inside and incredibly large. Very roomy and can accommodate large parties if needed. The staff are very helpful and when I informed them it was my mom's birthday they even brought her out a piece of cake with a sparkler. They are very sweet and helpful, very willing to go above and beyond. Well worth the stop in.
Their brunch towers are pretty good even though the prices have gone up. Their pancake flavors are different everyday and the waiter will let you what their flavor of the day is before you place your order. We had here for dinner as well and had their Thursday special. $50 for one main, appetizer and dessert. I would recommend getting the lamb saddle, the sauce that came with it was amazing. I also really enjoyed the pork wonton nachos They have two different dining areas with lots of seats. They also do events and thing like that as well! They have different daily specials everyday so definitely worth checking out!
I don't recall coming here before; it's been so long. Finally able to dine out and enjoying an alcoholic beverage after a year on the patio. I have to say, the choices on the menu don't appeal to me as much, but I did enjoy the burger and truffle fries. While my friend had the Okonomiyaki Cheeseburger, which did look delicious. The service was great; they are very attentive. For an outside patio, it isn't as loud, and you can enjoy the breeze while chatting with your friends.
I came here for brunch. It was really busy the entire restaurant was filled. Service was good, they constantly filled my coffee and water. The food took a bit of time, likely because it was really busy. This place is in historic unionville. The place was modern/contemporary decorated. This place is definitely a go to fill your belly.
Love the brunch tower idea so much! It's more than enough food for two people! The bacon was a bit harder to bite, but the Malaysian style eggs were delicious. The ube pancakes were the special for this day and they were perfectly fluffy. Food and drinks came out in a timely manner, our server was awesome as well. Much larger restaurant I expected with a high table area and a low seating area.

Came here for brunch on Saturday morning with a friend. There were no spots available for reservation through their website but they thankfully had spots available for walk-in! The Parking lot there is quite full most of the time so be prepared to park a little bit further. We ordered their brunch tower for two ($58) and loved that there was lots of variety for sweet and savoury. I loved that there was uniqueness and plenty of food compared to other brunch spots in the area. We even had some leftovers to take home because we were so stuffed after. The outside patio was nice for the summer as you get to take in the quaint unionville main street vibes and the nice weather. The staff were awesome, and helpful as well. Would be back again
Came here for brunch on a Sunday morning with no reservation, had to wait for a bit for a table. Great ambiance, loved the food and drinks, matcha latte wasn't overly sweet so that was good, the foods were filling and satisfying. Great service despite it being a busy place!
Another fun brunch place uptown just off Main Street Unionville. It's easy to make a reservation here and the menu is whimsical and fun, so this is a go to spot we're trying to make a brunch date. Portion sizes are also pretty generous.
This review is for the brunch tower for 2. Everything on this tower was perfectly cooked, good temp and had a cute presentation. It came with eggs, sausage, bacon, mushrooms, brussel sprouts, tomatoes, potatoes and buttermilk pancakes with ube. I enjoyed every bite I had. Since everything was cooked so well, I would recommend this to others even with the $50-60 price range. Tower is for two people, but could feed 3 imo. We also had tap water with lemon, coffee and cocktails. Water and coffee were fine. They offer milk alternatives (I think at an added cost). The cocktails were STRONG. Idk if it was too early for me, but I just didn't care for my black pearl cocktail. It was in a small glass, and I didn't care for the flavour (personally). I think I would stick to wine, mimosa or beer next time. Service was good. Our waters were refilled when needed, we were asked how everything was and they brought us new plates when we asked (wanted new plates to enjoy the pancakes on). There is a time limit (I think 2 hours?) but we didn't feel rushed and were able to finish on time. Music was poppin and restaurant was packed. Make sure to make a reservation. Free parking right behind the restaurant. Entrance is by the big water wheel looking thing off the small street side. Can't wait for the patio to open and to come back and try some of their other dishes. read more

I came for dine in brunch over the weekend and had a good experience. We got the brunch tower, fried chicken french toast and the special that day, tempura shrimp toast. We enjoyed most of our dishes though we found the fried chicken french toast to lean too heavily on the sweet side. We would've prefered to have the chicken and the batter to be more salty to balance the rest of the dish. The tempura shrimp toast was the special of the day which was tasty but used a panko rather than actual tempura. The brunch tower is a good deal and it could probably feed 3 people. All the elements on it were really good and cooked well. I've also tried the Duck Confit Pancakes and Okonomiyaki Cheeseburger before on their outdoor patio. The crispy duck confit was tender with fluffy pancakes and a balanced hoisin maple glaze. The cheeseburger was loaded with a beef patty, egg, bacon, umami bonito flakes and the OG Kewpie mayo. They're not currently checking vaccine passports and it looks like they're operating at full or close to full capacity. Our server Andrew was a gem. I have been saving this on my 'favorite' (almost a year now) so I remember which restaurant to try. Finally , today is the day! Ordered shaksuka and hash kimchi (the only 2 'spicy' dish on brunch menu). Shaksuka is soooooooo good!! It is 'juicy'/saucy (because it is a tomato-base dish). It comes with sliced lamb sausage,chick pea, and poach egg on it. All of this flavour balance out one another. The tomato base/sauce is 'refreshing' and this dish has a nice spice kick to it. It comes with toast on the side (and dip it to shakshuka when eating). Hash kimchi duck confit is tots potato, kimchi, cheese curd, shredded duck confit, and 2 poached egg. It's a great combination! Kimchi is (very mild) soury and spicy. Potato, duck confit, and cheese are 'dry'. The poach egg provide the extra 'sauce'(due to runny yolk). All of the ingedients paired with 'wet' and 'refreshing' kimchi are flavourful. The only thing lacking is the kimchi itself. It was too little. Tots, duck, and cheese curd are 'dry'. So it taste 'dry' and bit flavorless toward the end (not enough sauce/juice/flavor). Better to ask for more kimchi (or extra on the side if you are worried the overall dish might get too soury/spicy). Service was attentive. We originally got seated to 'hot' table. After 10min we almost left (really really hot and no cool breeze. I was sweating). Turned out they keep an eye of 'shady' table availability which we were so happy when we got moved. Overall, love the food. Will be back to try dinner menu. read more
Pretty romantic candle lit interior with cute christmas decorations. The service was good as the servers were always around to fill water, etc but the food just took way too long. We got there at 6 and didn't get our mains until 7:50. In between we got our 3 apps between 8 ppl and wine but one drink was missed. But honestly waiting almost 2 hours for our actual food is unacceptable! A few of the pastas arrived cold too! I can tell they put a lot of effort into their food and plating but I'm pregnant and I really can't be waiting that long for food. The pork steak was good and tender but my lasagna did not wow me at all and not sure how the bone marrow goes with it? My friend felt the rigatoni was too olive tasting. Truffle fries were good and crispy though. Maybe the experience would've been better if we were a table of less people. read more

I came here in the summer and it's been one of the few memorable meals of this year. Their seasonal menus are refreshing, well-balanced in flavours, and perfectly cooked. I love that dishes are fusion and give that Asian twist to something new. The portions are smaller but each bite was satisfying. They did have happy hour for appetizers which we took advantage of. The service was also excellent and the atmosphere was nice inside. High and low tabletops. There's also a nice patio. Would highly recommend coming here! read more
Their menu has changed since the last time I visited! It was my first time trying plant-based meat and the Meatball Tomahawk tasted and had meat-like texture! The base was spicy tteokbokki. Definitely exceeded my expectations. The Capellini in a salted egg yolk & miso cream sauce with tempura soft shell crab and shrimp was delicious as well. However, I did find the pasta a bit too soft. Patio and service is nice, but I felt like they were rushing us a little bit and didn't seem like there were lots of people waiting after. read more
First of all, Unionville is an adorable town, with quaint shops and a homey vibe. This restaurant was amazing, as it was fast, food was delicious and service was friendly. My kids had the French toast and it was incredible, the interplay of flavors was melt in your mouth delicious, the peanut butter was a nice touch! I had the scrambled eggs, with delectable toast with jam, and bacon. We will be back for sure! It is a nice decor inside and there is a nice patio outside to welcome you. It is an impressive restaurant, and a truly five star brunch experience! Your taste buds will thank you. read more

This restaurant is located in an old mill (complete with water wheel), which gives it more character than most. It's also located in Unionville with lots of pretty buildings. The small plates here are not really small. Bone marrow was Ok. Smoked fish pate was pretty good. Kettle chips were quite a firm foundation for the pate. Jerk duck wings were pretty good - really crispy & not too spicy if you don't suck on them. They were slightly tough but that's normal for duck. Brussels sprouts were very good. Not bitter at all. The combination of balsamic vinegar, bacon, parmesan, lemon & maple worked very well. read more

Wanted to try out this spot for brunch. It gets very busy, we reserved ahead of time on their website. Parking lot is small and shared among other businesses. The look of it is rustic, modernized and brightly light with many windows lining the walls. We were promptly seated and service was great. Definitely intrigued by the brunch tower as many tables ordered it but looked like too much food. I instead ordered the Duck Confit Pancakes and my wife got the Okonomiyaki Cheeseburger. The duck had a crispy skin and went well with the fluffy pancakes. Sort of a twist on fried chicken and waffles. The maple hoisin sauce is unique, not a big fan but kinda works. The cheeseburger was fantastic. The pancake was the single "bun" that brought out all the flavors and toppings of the burger. Japanese fusion done right! If it wasn't a bit dry, would have been perfect. Will come back with a bigger appetite to tackle the tower next time. read more

Located in Markham This restaurant is a Canadian seasonal cuisine featuring a diverse menu. We loved how this restaurant has a patio and serves brunch, lunch and dinner. We ordered their Avocado Toast and their Okonomiyaki Cheeseburger . The Avocado Toast was delicious! The platting looked spectacular with a sesame seed bagel as the base topped with fresh avocado, seaweed salad, ponzu, togarashi aioli, torched sashimi salmon, pickle chilies, nori, and ramen egg. The torched salmon was very smooth and was super flavourful with the sauce. All the other toppings complimented the each other making the whole meal delicious. We loved their twist to a classical avocado toast. The Okonomiyaki Cheeseburger was such a unique idea! They substituted the regular burger buns for Japanese pancakes making the presentation look impeccable. Inside the sandwich was a 7oz beef patty, Swiss cheese, iceberg lettuce, kewpie mayo, sunny side up egg, double smoked bacon, bonito flakes, nori, and Japanese BBQ sauce. We loved how they incorporated Japanese ingredients into the cheeseburger! We loved our experience at this restaurant and would definitely return to try more. NextDoor is amazing for brunch if you can manage to get a reservation! Since they're on Main St. they are obviously a popular choice and honestly one of the better restaurants in the area so make sure you book a table well in advance if you want to avoid a long wait. I've been here a couple of times for brunch and even for a wedding and the food has been great every time! Would recommend their brunch tower to share with friends or family (if they are offering it) which includes a variety of the items offered on their menu like pancakes and roasted potatoes - this way you can sample everything. read more
10/10 - Next door I love you a whole BRUNCH! I went here for dinner before but never brunch and I was really missing out. Their brunch is where its at !! Avocado Toast (10/10) - This is not your standard avocado toast! It was served on a bagel and had a Japanese twist. Inside there was torched salon, soft boiled ramen eggs, and seaweed salad. It was DELICIOUS, the flavours went so well together and its so creative !! Highly recommend : D Buttermilk Pancakes (9/10) - Their flavour of the day was sesame and dark chocolate. Blueberry Lavender (score:5/5) Recommended by the waitress, excellent suggestion! I loved the taste of the lavender. Shrimp Toast (score: 4/5) It's like a fusion. There was some yellow sauce with Indian spice in it. Shrimps with scrambled eggs on the side as well as with chilli pepper and parsley. The chilli pepper was not very spicy but the egg was a bit dry. There was shrimp paste inside the toast and the toast was deep fried. read more

Love my recent visit for brunch for my birthday. Service was great and attentive. Environment was open and bright. Manager came to tape up the windows for us when the sun became too bright for our table. I have ordered their brunch feast as take out before and I loved it. So This time I ordered Their brunch tower again with my 2 other girlfriends to share plus their duck confit pancakes on the side. Portion was generous and filling for all of us. The brunch tower came with a lot of crispy and delicious potato hash, bacons, scrambled eggs, shakshouka (yum!), 2 pcs of lamb sausages, Brussels sprout, mushrooms a, roasted tomatoes and a stack of red velvet pancakes with brownies. Very reasonably price at $55 for brunch tower that serves 2. Duck confit pancakes were delicious as well. A modern Savoury twist to traditional fluffy pancakes. read more

Ordered: Avocado Toast ($18), Raspberry & white chocolate pancakes ($16) & Chai Tea Latte (4.5) The avocado toast/bagel was AMAZING! I didn't even know how to start eating it because there was so much on my plate. It consisted of torched salmon, avocado spread, seaweed salad, ramen egg, nori and chilis. To my surprise, everything went really well together and the presentation is stunning. 9/10 The raspberry white chocolate buttermilk pancakes were pretty good! Such a beautiful spot to have brunch! The restaurant is located inside the old train station, so the building gets a lot of light and has a nice view. I really liked the decor as well - simple but elegant. The service was good. Keep in mind they do have an 1.5h seating limit and they will kick you out afterwards. I couldn't tell what country the menu was from because they had shakshuka (Jewish), beef tartare(French), burgers (american), risotto (Italian)... nonetheless the food was good. The burgers were the best, I also had tartare and it was edible but not my favourite. My friend had risotto and although it looked good it wasn't best tasting. I have been to this restaurant twice for dinner and both times the food and service was seriously the best. The meals are quite unique but I feel like a wide variety of people could find something on the menu they can enjoy. I went here during covid and they did such an amazing job with the sanitization and safety protocols (waiters didn't get too close, they wore a mask AND shield). Was in Markham visiting family and decided to try Nextdoor restaurant for dinner. We ordered some different dishes to try out like the duck wings, Pani Puri, asian pit master platter and a large garden salad. The duck wings were decent and had a good tangy sauce. Rating: 7.3 out of 10 The pani puri had a little too much cumin. You could smell the cumin overpowering the dish when you cut it open. Rating: 5 out of 10 The salad was a typical salad but was nice and fresh with a decent white balsamic vinaigrette. Rating 7.0 out of 10 The Asian pit master platter for me was two sided. There were things I liked and areas I think that could have been better. My first disappointment were the ribs. When you have a dish call the Asian pit master platter, the star of the dish should be the ribs, however they were tough and lack any special flavour. It almost tasted like ribs that were previously made and warmed up and served to us. The rest of the plate were just ok. The banchan, the pickled vegetables were quite tasty though. One thing to note was the Asian plate took forever to arrive. Three tables came in way after us received their full dishes at their table before we received ours. Rating 6.5 out of 10. Overall I would give it a 3.5 star rating. read more
Came here for brunch with my friend on a Sunday. It was busy but we made reservations. Everything on the menu sound so delicious but we settled for a poke bowl, crab on toast and pancake of the day to share. It was glorious !!! So good!! Portion size was perfect! BBut we did over indulge, good thing we shared. The poke bowl was dairy and gluten free so that was a plus for me, everything else was regualr but I still ate a bit of everything... totally worth the discomfort that came with it after Definitely coming back for dinner one day ! read more

SO GOOD! We were in the area on a weekday when patios opened and didn't have a reservation but they let accommodated us with a short wait. And it did not disappoint! We always came here and enjoyed every dish but the brunch tower was just amazing! It has something savoury, sweet and everything in between. The pancake had a mochi texture, so good! Super filling for 2, definitely can be shared! Will come back for this. read more
My friend and I have lived in Markham for many years, interrupted briefly by living abroad for a bit. We decided to get together before the holidays. We both learned something about each other recently. We have never hit a bar on Main Street in Unionville. Ever. How can that be?! I did a quick search and found NextDoor. We thought about meeting on a Wednesday night for drinks and good eats. This restaurant and bar has $5 drafts on Wednesday nights. I ran it by my friend. Sold! We are so alike that it's ridiculous. I made a reservation online for two people at 7:30 pm. It was seamless. I loved it. NextDoor is on the first floor of a mill. I parked. There was plenty of parking. The catch is that the main entrance is where the water wheel is. I parked off to the side and did a brief tour around the building. It's pretty at night. I can picture how gorgeous it is on a warm summer night on the patio. I walked in and was immediately greeted by a woman. She found my reservation and seated me in a cozy corner. Moments later, I saw my friend wave to me as he got out of the car. I pointed at him to go around to the water wheel. He nodded. Our server was highly knowledgeable and helpful. I had asked her about what draft beers were available. It was fairly dark in the corner and the beautiful candle setting didn't produce enough light for me to get through the booze menu fast. I went with a Belgian Moon. It was so good. It's even better at $5. My friend went with a Flying Monkey. He just liked the name. He loved it, too. It was smooth. Oysters are also half price on Wednesday. We like deals. He went with six Raspberry Point oysters. He didn't know how he would react. We joked that Markham-Stouffville Hospital wasn't far away. He was fine! He enjoyed them. I went with duck wings and fried brussel sprouts. My server said that I had ordered her two favourite items on the menu. Cool! The duck wings were delicious. It had five-spice salt, kewpie mayo, Japanese barbeque sauce, fried shallots, red chilies, and green onions. All those flavours were amazing. The duck meat was tender and yummy. I never thought that I would eat an entire plate of brussel sprouts and want more. They were scrumptious. Put maple balsamic vinaigrette, double-smoked bacon, parmesan aioli, and lemon zest on brussel sprouts and I will lick the plate clean. Although I tried not to do that, my plate looked pretty clean by the time that I was done. My friend and I had a nice time catching up, chatting about his upcoming trip to Singapore, and figuring out where our next bar visit will be. I loved the cozy atmosphere and food at NextDoor. Long overdue review, came in Dec 2018 for birthday dinner and I must say the food and service was impeccable. I remember ordering the deep fried Brussels sprouts with bacon which was super tasty, everything else we got was delicious. The service was great, did not have to tell the waiter to refill our water. Came for brunch in April 2019 and was amazed again by the food quality. I got crab on toast with 2 poached eggs, the portion was just perfect. Also got fresh squeezed grapefruit juice and mango and peach juice as well (tasted like mango lassi - so good!). My husband got crispy duck pancake and the sweet and savoury together with hoisin sauce was amazing! Service once again was wonderful with accommodation for baby. What I ordered: Duck Wings ($12), Islandic Cod ($26.50) and 1 Lamb 2 ways ($31.50) Pros: - The food was beautifully presented and layered such that it was a lot of variety. The 1 lamb 2 ways was very tender and came with a pulled lamb in gravy with 3 chunks of lamb on top. - Cod came recommended by the waitress - it was crispy on one side and soft. I really liked the squid ink pasta at the bottom. - Duck wings were recommended as the appetizer and was pretty worth it for the price as they gave 5 pieces. It was good for sharing. - I thought it wouldn't be enough for 3 people but it was pretty filling. - I'm looking forward to trying some of their breakfast items as the presentation is quite nice. Cons: - unfortunately the patio outside was closed early, they have one of the better patios looking out onto the rest of Main Street unionville and the mill. read more

First time at this restaurant and was pretty impressed. They have an online reservation system so would definitely recommend booking beforehand as it was pretty full at brunch. I ordered the okonomiyaki cheeseburger and it's a pretty large serving with a bunch of different items but they all worked together well - would recommend getting syrup for the pancakes if you have any left at the end. The fried chicken french toast was also great and the french toast was huge. We were celebrating a birthday and they gave a free complimentary gelato. We had the biggest table in the dining room which is at the very end of the room at the windows - we noticed there was a cold draft particularly at our table and the waiter was able to adjust the temp however, then it got to be a bit too warm. Wasn't a big deal and didn't affect us from enjoying the meal but just a heads up if you happen to sit here in the winter. Overall, would definitely recommend and looking forward to coming back and trying other items. read more

The duck confit pancakes are always my favorite and easily satisfied your savoury and sweet side. The duck portion is decent and good value for money for sure. The duck is also cooked to perfection. Came here on a Friday for lunch. We didn't make reservation but they were able to accommodate us. Their brunch menu ends at 3pm and Dinner started at 3pm, so what we ordered were brunch items. We had the Okonomiyaki Burger with a Ceasar and Avocado Toast. It is your American menu items with a Japanese twist. My husband enjoyed his burger and ceasar. I ordered the avo toast because I wanted something on the lighter side and small but "oh boy" was I wrong. The toast is two slices of bagels (one of the best bagels I have had), topped with what seams to be a whole smashed avocado which was well seasoned, big heaping of seaweed salad, generous portion of seared salmon with teriyaki sauce, aioli, a poached egg and chopped Thai chili. One star for a waiter and one for immediate sitting altho. without reservation. Place was hard to find as I went there 1st time. I tried to open the door on lower level but shut. Saw the restaurant sign but didn't know where to go (in) !! No sign to show the main entrance was entered from the upper deck... Whoever without cell phone cannot order food as they use QR code to scan for the menu......only? Food was mediocre although ppl took many good pictures and I was lured to go. Tried the duck confit pancake. Duck was cooked crispy on skin and meat was not dry but the sauce was . Should have given maple syrup to go with the pancakes but the dark overly salty and sweet soya ? teriyUcki sauce on pancake sides and no sauce on the duck. That (((super strong salty-and-sweet-at-the-same-time-sauce))) "maybe" just ok to go with the duck but I don't like the bittersweet taste at all. And it ruined all my pancakes. I only finished 2 pancakes out of 4 given. The washroom was too small and only has two stalls. Whoever with wheelchair is impossible to get in. Parking filled up quickly even in business days. My boyfriend and I came for brunch on a Sunday morning. We arrived at 10 am and there was no wait time at all. They had three menus available: the brunch menu, dessert menu and drink menu. They have a savoury dish of the day and a pancake of the day. I decided to choose something off the menu as I wasn't interested in the specials of the day. Service: The service was excellent. All the servers were so attentive (almost too attentive). They filled our water almost after every sip I took. Food: I ordered the Huveos Rancheros Hash and my boyfriend ordered the Okonomiyaki Cheeseburger. My portion was very large and the dish came with a generous portion of pullled pork and potatoes. One thing I noticed was that the pulled pork was cold. Overall the dish was a 3.5/5. My boyfriend's cheeseburger was quite unique. The pancakes as 'buns' were delicious. The beef was a little overcooked but still delicious. Overall, I'm giving this place a 4 stars because of the excellent service rather than the food. Maybe we'll come back for dinner one time! read more
