I was in the area one evening and looking for a quick bite but stumbled upon this gem. This is a Michelin rated restaurant but I was luckily to get a table with a walk in. Tried their Crispy Flat Bean Salad and Coconut Calamari. Truly amazing dishes. Crispy Flat Bean Salad had crispy quinoa something I never tried before. Very creative. Despite the star rating, the prices were surprisingly reasonable.

We had a lovely summer evening on Rasa's patio. Service is lovely and attentive. 8 sharing plates worked out just right for 4 adults, with my favourites being the country short ribs and the port steak. I was really looking forward to the sticky bun, but was disappointed as it was too soft and slightly gummy for my liking. Thankfully the ice cream sandwich saved the day.

The food at Rasa never fails, it's a great spot for a nice occasion or a casual experience! The service is top notch and they definitely look after you and explain the menu items. The menu is pretty unique and has nice spins on dishes with in-season ingredients, as well as menu staples. We had the seasonal tasting menu with several courses and each one was amazing!

This was probably the best meal we had in Toronto. My husband found this restaurant on the Michelin bib gourmand list while we were in town for our anniversary and I'm so glad he did! There was great variety of food and it was all so delicious. They were also able to accommodate his gluten allergy. He got the steak tartare (I unfortunately could not have it bc I'm pregnant but he said it was good!) and we shared the calamari and short rib. All were so good. He also go the green bean dish that was just ok. For our anniversary they brought us some complimentary chocolate ice cream which was so rich!

I don't say this often or lightly, but this might have been one of the best meals I've ever had. From the service to the cocktails to the ambience to the (of course) food. The meat dishes all stood out, but don't sleep on the ceviche or the desserts! The mango rita comes with a whole slice of dehydrated mango. The short rib, steak tartare and lobster ravioli were all amazing bites... And the price is right!

Be sure to make a reservation because this place was fully booked. The ambiance of the restaurant was laid-back but nice. Service was extremely attentive. Rasa is known for their small sharing plates and they recommend 2 to 3 dishes per person for a full meal. There are also options for a classic tasting menu ($65 pp) which consists of six of their sharing plates and a dessert, or the full experience which consists of eight of their sharing plates ($85 pp) which includes some of the more luxurious options, and a dessert the portions are catered towards the size of your group. We opted for the full experience, which included the spicy, sea bream ceviche, chopped salad, smoked trout, sweet potatoes, cheesy ravioli (which is not on the regular menu), ribs, poached salmon, and steak. For dessert, you can choose from one of the three options. We opted for the sticky bun. The dishes that stood out to us the most were the spicy sea bream ceviche and chopped salad. The ceviche had such a delicious Thai spicy peanut sauce and bits of sesame snaps which added a nice sweetness and crunch. The chopped salad, although doesn't look special, was one of the tasty salads I've had in a while. The crunchy harissa chickpeas really made the dish. A special mention for the deboned ribs as well as they were extremely tender. Everything was delicious and well thought out. I would definitely come back. I think the tasting menu is a great value and we were stuffed by the end of it.

This is a really cute spot for a group gathering or a date. Small plates that are super shareable. Friendly staff

Came for dinner on a Friday evening. We had made reservations for 8 pm. Our server was amazing. He was very friendly and helpful and he recommended that we try the classic experience as that was a tasting menu of their famous and popular dishes. We decided to try that and added the steak tartare. The steak tartare was very good but the portion was small and a bit pricey for what you got. The chopped salad was delicious and and chickpea fritters were very good. The spicy ceviche was delicious as well. The truffle gnudi was good. The starters were all very good. For the mains, we had the Rasa burger and the country style ribs. The burger was ok but nothing special. The ribs were very tasty. For dessert we had the sticky bun and the carrot cake. The sticky bun was very good and the carrot cake was ok. A solid 3.5 stars overall.

I made a reservation at the beginning of May for the end of the month with the intention of trying the tasting menu. However, after seeing reviews mention that their tasting menu ends in the summer, I contacted them inquiring about the last day (which happened to be mid-May). Since they offer half portions on many dishes, I opted to go with that instead, but was pleasantly surprised when the menu introduced the "summer experience", a tasting that started just the previous day! For $55, you get 8 courses plus your choice of one of three desserts on their menu! Talk about an amazing value. We started with the amuse-bouche, a bite-sized cheese bread with crème fraiche (the perfect savoury starter). Next we had the steak frites tartare, another bite-sized course that came with tallow potato topped with tartare, bearnaise, and chive. With the crisp of the potato and creaminess of the sauce, it was one of the best tartares I've had - coming from someone who orders tartare at every establishment that offers it. I only wish there was more! While the chopped salad was decent, the spicy ceviche was our favourite of the night. The sea bream covered in chilli sauce, sesame snaps, peanuts, yuzu, and Thai basil was a flavour explosion. My one critique is that it could use something on the side (bread?) to soak up the sauce as there was an abundance of toppings/sauce. The chickpea fritters came in a close third place. The country short ribs were the only dish that fell short of expectation, as they were quite dry. The truffle gnudi was served with a walnut pesto and parmesan crisps. Finally, we had the infamous Rasa burger where each ingredient (bread, sauce, and kimchi included) was made in-house. The burger was seasoned well, cooked to a medium-rare, and quite meat-heavy. At this point, we were extremely full and asked for a to-go box for the dessert. We chose the sticky bun which we enjoyed later that night. A tasting menu at this price is unheard of, especially with the amount of food we were served and the elevated dishes made with quality ingredients. Do yourself a favour and come check it out before it's gone!

Chicken Milanese

We got so lucky with this place! All the reservations were fully booked, but we decided to try our luck and walked in, and we got seated. Total win! The vibe inside is really cool, kind of rustic but still cozy. We ordered several things, the chickpea fritters, spicy ceviche, calamari, Cobb salad, branzino, chicken Milanese, and ribs. Everything was solid, but the branzino was definitely the standout. The ceviche and ribs were also big hits at our table. Awesome food, great service, and a cool space.

The shared food setup, preparation, and flavors at Rasa were SO GOOD!!! Very tasty flavors all the way around and high quality, inventive ingredients and preparation. Minus one star for drink delays and timing. There was a significant amount of time between our drink order being made and our food order, yet the amuse bouche and our first 2 plates came before our drinks. Admittedly this is a major downer for me when dining. If you don't mind it, ignore me. The amuse bouche was a fluffy, crispy cheese puff that tasted almost exactly like a Cheeto (my friends said this) or an extra toasted Cheez It (this is what I tasted). Such a good start! Our dishes then started coming and the sharing concept kicked in. We had chickpea fritters: the best my friend said he has ever had, crispy-fluffy-spicy goodness. Both rib preparations (beef and pork) were cooked and spiced to perfection and oh so tender. The only dish we had that was unremarkable was the tartare. I'd go back for sure to see whatever new things the chefs at Rasa came up with!

Dissappointed to say the least - I had been recommended this spot so many times that I had to check it out but I'm really surprised by the Michelin recommendation. The staff seemed uninterested and inattentive, and the food was unbelievably average. I think this place used to be amazing, but has since downgraded in terms of quality quite a bit - I had seen photos of their various octopus dishes but when I ordered it, you could barely tell octopus was even featured in the dish! The plate was covered in a mountain of chorizo sausage with maybe 4 small piece of octopus Definitely not coming back anytime soon

Absolutely delicious! In Toronto for the weekend and so glad we kept checking for reservations. Scored a spot at the bar and was able to sit in the front window. A great way to also watch people on the street. Things start out with a tasty little amuse bouche - a bit sized cheese bread with jalapeño (I missed the actual description). I wasn't thrilled to order a "chopped salad" but this isn't you're average chop - its full of fresh flavor and truly unique. The spicy ceviche was also a top choice since it truly different from any ceviche I've ever had. Certainly no complaints about the truffle gnudi or chickpea fritter either. Service was incredibly welcoming and walked us through each dish. Will definitely make a stop back on my next trip to try more dishes.

The space itself leans more modern and clean rather than the typical dark, cozy izakaya vibe, which I actually didn't mind. It felt comfortable, not too loud, and easy to settle into for a slow dinner. We ordered a mix of small plates to share, and everything came out looking nicely put together. The aburi-style salmon sushi was one of the highlights for me.. lightly seared, with a soft texture and just enough flavor on top without being overwhelming. The tuna tataki was also fresh and clean, simple but well done. Some of the fried dishes leaned a bit richer with the creamy sauces, but they were still enjoyable, especially if you're in the mood for something a little more indulgent. The beef fried rice was straightforward but satisfying, one of those dishes that's easy to keep going back to between everything else. Drinks were a nice touch too.. refreshing, nicely presented, and added to the overall experience. Overall, this feels like a solid spot for a casual night out with friends. Came here on a Thursday night and was surprised at how busy it was for a weekday. Despite that, the service was excellent! Staff were friendly off the bat and very attentive after each dish was finished, making sure to wipe off the table or exchanging the plates which I was really impressed with despite how busy they were. We decided to go with their tasting menu where you gave them a price range you wanted to stick to - I believe it was $85-$200, and you can mention some dishes you definitely want to try and they curate the rest for you which I thought was so unique! I loved the idea of that. The dishes we really wanted were the octopus, bone marrow and scallops. The only standout dishes to me were the scallops, and a salad I cannot remember the name of but was so shocked at how good just a simple salad could be. Other than that, the other dishes were still good, but nothing extraordinary to be honest. The octopus was a bit too charred which was disappointing as it was what I was looking forward to the most. The tasting menu we got also had mainly vegetable dishes (other than the ones I just mentioned), so was hoping to get a few more meat dishes. This is definitely a great spot for vegetarians as it had a lot of veggie dishes. I would still come back to maybe try some of their other more meat focused dishes. Overall, I still had a great time and can't stress enough how lovely our waitress and the rest of the staff were!
