They allowed me to make an offer; worked with me on my price range; and the delivery was pretty good too (they contract deliveries with other companies.) One word - exquisite…read more I've been playing my whole life and I'm an actively gigging musician. I grew up with a baby grand in my home and planned to purchase my own instrument when I grew up. That day finally came a few years ago at Stilwell Pianos. Acoustic pianos are incredibly complex analog instruments that are sensitive to changes in temperature, moisture, and numerous other factors. Because of this, it's impossible to pick a piano just by brand and model if you're specific about the action (touch) and intonation (sound). For experienced players, you have to play it to know if it's the one. I went to several stores in town. Most were staffed with pushy sales guys trying to land a Steinway sale using every trick in the book to create urgency and assume the sale. This bullshit doesn't fly with me and ruins the journey. I first visited Stilwell at their old location. Michael introduced himself, inquired what I was looking for, and let me explore on my own. No tactics, no pressure selling, etc. It took probably 4 trips over 6ish months before he had the right inventory for what I wanted. The buying process was straightforward from there and they used Max Piano Moving (best guys in town) for transport. Whether you're a seasoned professional or looking for your child's first piano, can't recommend these guys enough.

I felt no pressure from the second I walked in there. Chuck answered all my questions, let me play on the piano and stay as long as liked. The piano was in great shape and after playing it for almost a month it actually sounds better than I thought. The price was 11k for a fully installed QRS player which I found out costs 8k alone to install in a piano. So the price was unbelievable for the piano taking this into account. As such, I'm no longer confident about my playing skills. Combined with my severe carpal tunnel, I just don't get to play much in general even more, even though I own a piano. But Bob, the manager on duty, was SO NICE! He wasn't pushy and was super accommodating. To me, while sound is important, the most important thing was making sure I could find a piano that was easier on my hands and fingers to make sure I could keep playing despite the ever-present hand and wrist pain I have. He helped me find the exact acoustic piano I needed for my lifestyle and budget and even taught me about things that had changed since the last time I went shopping for pianos years ago! I am confident that I'll be back to purchase the piano I found today. When asked upfront, I even clearly stated I wasn't going to purchase for a few months. And it didn't matter! He took the time to show me around the store and the pianos specifically that would help me keep playing and teach my son. Thanks, Bob and Southwest Pianos!!! You made my day! I'll never recommend anyone else!
