I wish I could give them a 5 star review as the pieces are lovely. Unfortunately, that is all there is good to say. The finish on the Monterey 60" dresser purchased in February cannot withstand even remotely normal use (nor was it, apparently, able to withstand shipping without some scuffs). When this was shown to the store that sold the product, they were told by Newport that the user shouldn't stand near the dresser while wearing a belt buckle! Here's a piece of advice - if you know your product can be damaged by a common piece of clothing, you should probably rethinking your design and quality control. If you think that telling us customers not to wear a belt buckle while using your product is an example of good customer service, think again. And if you think you can hide behind your retailers and let them take the abuse for you, we customers know where the fault truly falls. So, please, produce your products correctly, and man up and stand behind them when you don't. read more

Absolutely love Newport Cottages and their children's furniture! We visited while I was pregnant and have since made a few orders online as well. Their prices are totally comparable to Pottery Barn or even Amazon and I'd much rather support a small business in the Newport area. They took longer than promised for production, and when I had to cancel my order to purchase elsewhere, they retained my $1,000 deposit! I ordered my furniture in November 2020 it is May 2021 now and I have still not received it. They send out emails to customers stating that it will only take 16 weeks to get your babies furniture and its a lie. I messaged them multiple times through instagram and they finally said that it would be shipped out end of April and it still hasn't been shipped. The store I ordered the furniture from follows up with them all the time and they have a hard time getting through. I know my furniture is ready to ship, at least that was the last update that the store was given. But why has it not been shipped then? I had my baby girl end of April. This is just ridiculous. My husband and I came here to buy some things for our baby. As I walked around the store, looking at different items, I noticed that nobody had asked if we needed help. Not a big deal. I started looking at one item in particular, and a saleswoman who was helping another customer, came over and asked me to move aside so she could show the other customer the item I was looking at. I figured, whatever, that person has probably already ordered a bunch of stuff and so what do I care? I moved onto a second item. Same sales lady, same deal. Within a few minutes she came over and asked me to move. At this point I was pretty annoyed. I walked over to my husband so that I could tell him what happened and so we could leave. And wouldn't you know it? The same darned lady did the same thing. This was the THIRD TIME in maybe 15 minutes that she had asked me to move so she could show another customer the item I was looking at. WTH? Perhaps she thought I wasn't going to spend money (in which case, she was wrong). Perhaps she thought I didn't have the appropriate look for her store (although I was dressed nicely). I don't know what her deal was, and honestly, don't care. I would NEVER, NEVER, NEVER buy anything from this store based on the customer service alone. I ordered a custom chair (recliner/glider) because the sales rep Maria promised that they would deliver the chair to Los Angeles without problems. The chair arrived and is sitting at their warehouse in Corona. The store manager Nancy Aiello said she would call me to confirm a delivery date; then, she never followed up. I called the store back and another associate answered the phone and tried to help me but said they can not confirm a delivery date yet because they're waiting to see if any other deliveries will be set up in my area. They will call to confirm the delivery date when they figure out what other deliveries will be made to my area. They failed, at the point of sale, to mention delivery of my chair was contingent upon other customer orders when the purchase was made. I've asked for confirmation of a delivery date or a full refund- no response to that email. I left a couple of voice messages at the store prior to the chair coming in to the Corona warehouse that were also not returned. I've filed a Better Business Bureau complaint against this company and encourage other people who have issues receiving their custom furniture orders to do the same- this is an unethical business practice. They also ripped us off on delivery fees with a "white glove" delivery that promised assembly and failed to deliver. The customer service will continue to lie and drag you along with false promises. This company does not stand behind their products or vendors. I ordered a furniture set through a retailer. Newport Cottages selected a shipping company and the furniture arrived damaged. After requesting that we allow a repairman into our home during COVID, which we did, Newport Cottages disputed the repairman's report that the furniture should be replaced. I've had my Newport Cottages Panel Crib for 5 years now and its the absolute best crib out there!! Store was completely empty when I came in with my husband and the manager was standing behind the counter the entire time I was in there never got so much as a hello. Aside from the pretentious staff they have some beautiful pieces of furniture which can be customized to your specifications and carry a lot of other great brands (aden and anais, little giraffe, dwell, puj, blabla, jellycat, 4moms, orbit ect). If they hired friendly helpful staff I think this store would have better reviews. read more

I was able to meet with some of their vendors at the Baby Shower event and got the inside scoop on the background of the products like Lil O Blossom "the baby lotion made my skin so soft, I am going to use it for myself!" I had the opportunity to speak with the owner of Lil O Blossom, Lorie. She was so kind and down to earth, it just made me more of a fan! Wow the woman working here today around 4pm actually screamed at me for putting my baby in the display mamaroo. I was hovering over him and she yells from across the store, "MAaaaaaa'AAAAAAMMM!!!!! GET YOUR BABY OUT OF THAT!!!!" Me: "Oh I thought I could try it out and see how he liked it?" Crazy employee: (with a huge look of disapproval like I'm the world's worst mom): "NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!" Me: "Ok just thought that's why it was out here and plugged in" Crazy employee (stomps over and slams a poor teddy bear into the swing), "NO YOUR BABY COULD GET HURT AND IM SURE YOUD LOVE TO HOLD US RESPONSIBLE!" Me and my friend, looking at each other, "what the heck?" I'll never set foot inside this store again, and it sucks that such a cute store has such horrendous customer service. New mommies especially need some extra TLC (helllllloooooo!) The happy ending was that my baby loves his new mamaroo that we purchased at another much friendlier shop just a couple hours later where the employee was more than happy to let my little guy test the swing out and showed me how it works. If you are looking for unique and beautifully designed childrens furniture with excellent quality, this is the best place. We recently replaced my daughter's bed and dresser with a gorgeous one from the Beverly Collection. It looks so nice in her room. My son also has enjoyed his Newport Cottages dresser and trundle bed for years. We furnished our Big Bear cottage with two sets of bunk beds and dresser from here when my kids were young and boy did they love those beds! They have so many color and fabric choices and they worked with us to create exactly what we wanted. I only wish they made adult furniture too! I love the accessories and baby clothes they carry. Newport Cottages is my first choice when I need a unique gift. I have recommended them to many friends and family. I just received my four-year-old son's new bedroom furniture. The delivery went seamlessly and we are so excited to have his custom-made furniture in his room. We received a dresser, bedside table, and queen size bed with trundle underneath. The company it was so easy to work with and so nice about helping me design the furniture and color scheme. The furniture is so obviously made with love and care and the pull out drawers feel so much better than any other brand I have tried. I can honestly say my son now has the best furniture in our home. I can't wait (well I can ha ha) to change my daughter from crib to bed so she can also have a Newport cottages bedroom set. The furniture is clearly built to last a lifetime. I purchased the Hampton Bed for my daughter while she was still in high school, 13 years ago. That bed lasted her through college and is now being used in my house as a guest bed. It is really quite special now when my grandchildren come to visit, they are sleeping on this same bed. I am surprised after all the moves it has endured it still looks fantastic after all these years. I think this is a testament to the care that goes into every piece of furniture made and done so locally at their factory in Southern California. I went from shopping for my kids to now shopping at Newport Cottages for my grandchildren and am always in complete awe when I walk into their store. Their merchandising team is phenomenal with the spaces they create. I love the products that they carry, and am especially excited when I come across the all natural, chemical free products for my daughter. As a grandparent, it is very difficult to find things for my "all natural" daughter and grandchildren. The staff at Newport Cottages is always so friendly and welcoming. They go above and beyond assisting to find the right piece of furniture or baby gift. I highly recommend this store! read more

I am shocked at my experience with this store. I received some gifts from here at my baby shower- I am 38 weeks pregnant currently & I figured that my baby won't even fit in these clothes at birth. We went there last freezing night, only to see a paper sign posted in the door that they were out for a holiday party and would be back in an hour. Hmmm..... So, we returned today. My husband just dropped me off at the curb assuming it will be quick. One of the store associates took the return items and told me to find the right sizes or different items. While I was doing that, another lady walked up to me and very brusquely told me that they won't even trade up for a bigger size as I didn't have the tags. And mind you, they had the items right on the shelves. Equally rudely, she proceeded to teach me what a tag looks like. Trying my best not to adversely react, I dug into my bag & took out a teeny bag where I had kept some receipts- barely had my hands come out completely from the bag, she enlightened me yet again that that bag wasn't Newport cottage's. I asked her if she was Ok and she apologized saying it's been a long day. Firstly, a long day at 1pm when the store opened at 10/11am.. hmm and frankly, none of my business. Somehow, I still managed to dig my hands into the bag for a receipt but when I saw my hands trembling at her repeated, absolutely unacceptable behavior, I figured I wanted out and I asked her to kindly keep the shower gifts at this wonderful store and proceeded to walk back to my family. However, on the way out, I found one of the receipts and wonders why should I waste the effort and money my wonderful friends had spent on buying us the overpriced gifts. I got into the queue and decided to just engage with the first store associate. Needless to say, I would never ever return to this store even if I had to stitch clothes for my kids as a last resort. I just received Celine crib that was custom made for me and it took 5 months to get it. . What a disappointment!!! The quality of craftsmanship is very poor. The details on the crib were painted over and it looks very cheep. It looks like someone was painting for a fist time. There are also screws and wholes for the screws all over and the screws are dark brown (my crib is white). You can also see how the bottom is attached right through the front railing of the crib and it looks honorable. This quality of woks should be priced at $400-$500 and definitely not at $1400. Buy at Restoration Hardware. Their colors are not great but it is better to repaint their great quality cribs then end up with something that looks bad and cheap! read more

My husband and I have twin boys and we wondered in one Sunday afternoon. We were the only customers in the store and the person working never greeted us, or acknowledged our existence. We considered purchasing a couple of things but even as we walked by the cashier station she busied herself by looking down at sales receipts. I was very offended and we will never go to this store again. They lost out on a sale and any future sales from us. I ordered my baby furniture from Newport Cottages by phone and couldn't have had a better experience. Roxanna was so helpful when it came to helping me decide between the semi gloss and matte and the different hardware, sending me photos in different lighting and just being generally wonderful and patient throughout the process! I ended up getting the Beverly crib, dresser and bookshelf in semi-gloss white with the gold hardware and everything looks absolutely perfect. If you have any sort of timeline, run away from this company now! Ordered a dresser in early June for my baby due in mid-September. Wanted to get it in time to complete the nursery and get the clothes in the drawers. Their advertised 6-8 week production time which would have worked out fine. Dresser should have shipped July 25-August 7. I heard nothing. I sent two emails that went unanswered and then called. Got a call back from a very pleasant woman who said it would be shipped out 2 weeks late. Then got a call the next day from someone verifying the colors we wanted (so seemingly it wasn't in production at all the first 8 weeks?). 10 weeks after order still heard nothing, called back and they promised it would ship by that Wednesday and I'd hear by Friday. Heard nothing. Called the following week and they said it had been picked up that day. Called the delivery company the next day and they said they still hadn't picked it up and once they do it will be 1.5 weeks just to get it to their headquarters in NC and then even longer to get it to me. All Newport Cottages will say is "we're behind because we've been busy." No expedited shipping, no compensation. Just one huge frustration. Hoping when it does arrive (minimum of over a month late) my order will be correct, but given the mess that this has been it'll believe it when I see it. Wish I had ordered from anywhere else. When you spend this much on a piece of furniture it should not be this big a headache. read more
