I dropped my 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee off on a Wednesday morning and had it back by Friday afternoon. From the beginning, the team at Newman's Automotive made the entire process seamless. They arranged a Lyft to and from the shop, and when it became clear that the repairs would take longer due to parts needing to be ordered, they provided a loaner vehicle. South Point Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram has never offered that kind of support. Their waiting room was clean and comfortable, with a coffee machine, bottled water, and even a spot for my dog to hang out while I waited. Jesse Miracle, my Service Advisor, was polite, responsive, and clearly knew what he was doing. He and the technicians uncovered issues that South Point had missed during earlier visits. The main reason I brought the Jeep in was because the AC wasn't working. They replaced the blower motor and resistor, then discovered a shorting relay pin, which they repaired by replacing the pin and rebuilding the connector. They also diagnosed a persistent internal noise--commonly called the "HEMI tick." One of the rockers was slightly loose, which they adjusted, and the sound is now gone. On startup, the technician also noticed an external ticking sound and traced it to a broken rear stud on the passenger-side exhaust manifold. They replaced the manifold and gasket and extracted the broken stud without issue. While it was in, they also completed an oil change and the required emissions test. This is exactly how auto service should be. I'll definitely return and recommend Newman's Automotive to anyone looking for honest, thorough, high-quality work and outstanding customer care. read more

DO NOT TRUST NEWMAN'S AUTOMOTIVE - They damaged my car and messed with my keys I brought my Audi A3 in for repairs and picked it up in worse shape than I left it. My car came back with: A huge dent on the passenger door A hole in the windshield cowl Rear damage like a garage door had dropped on it Fresh white paint all over the entire passenger-side bottom panel -- clearly from someone taking it for a reckless drive It gets worse. They broke my valet key, then took my only working key fob and "duplicated" it by just moving the guts to a different shell. I came in with two working keys and left with one. When I confronted the owner, he got aggressive and claimed all the damage was already there -- a complete lie. If that were true, why didn't they mention it when I picked the car up? They were clearly hoping I wouldn't notice. This shop is shady, dishonest, and careless. They damaged my vehicle, mishandled my property, and refused to take responsibility. Warning! Steer clear! (pun intended) Scam alert! Won't return ever again after first experience... I was almost charged around $1,000 for a repair I DIDN'T NEED! First time customer, went for an oil change. Seemed nice and efficient, quick turnaround. I guess they also did a quick "inspection" of the vehicle to make sure everything else was working properly. They explained to me that they found out that both the rear wheel brake drums, shoes and cylinders needed replacing due to a cylinder leak which can be serious and can cause major issues if not repaired soon. They were convincing and had a fancy video animation that showed what the issue was for those mechanically illiterate. Seemed professional and trustworthy, not to mention about a $1,000 repair in total with everything that needed to be done. So they say... I declined the repair for the time being and went to another mechanic to get a second opinion. (A mechanic I've been to multiple times and who's been very trustworthy). It's a good thing I did! Come to find out that that rear brake issue that Newman's quoted me was NOT actually an issue whatsoever! I bet they didn't even check it... the mechanic told me they were totally fine and that there was no cylinder leaks at all on both sides. I have photo proof. No leaks at all, totally dry. Dirty yes, from use. But dry and no leaks, in good condition. They did not need replacing. Once I found out the visible truth I had to post a review of this Newman's place to warn others of this scam they're trying to pull! BE WARNED! It's a good thing I got a second opinion and actually got photo proof. I could've been out around $1,000 for NOTHING! I'll never go back to Newman's... Karma will be coming around for you guys. My son's 2002 Ford Ranger wouldn't start. We towed it to Newman's asking them to diagnose. They took several days to determine the cause was a conflict btw the factory alarm, and an aftermarket alarm that was later installed. They came back with an estimate that was overpriced. I called mechanics that I trust (but I have businesses too far away) and they all called this "price gouging!" The two representatives in person, and on the phone were very professional towards us. They offered financing. It's my choice to cordially say no, respectfully pay them for the diagnosis and re-tow my vehicle (on my bill) when and wherever I want. But once we came to pick up the truck because we couldn't afford their prices, someone at Newman's Automotive made the decision to not put the truck back together again. That's callously disrespects my 16-year-old son who was there alone. And they told the AAA tow person (and not my son) that since we didn't use them to complete the work then they weren't going to put the truck back together. I took my car to this shop in August 2025. They said I needed a part of my transmission replaced. They worked with my warranty but I still had around $1400 out of pocket. Less than 3 months later, I had to take in for the same thing. Exact same thing. They returned it the same day and said it was fixed. No charge. Less than 30 miles later, it was doing the same thing again and unfortunately by this time, they were closed for the weekend. I took it back on Monday. They took two business days to say that I needed a whole new transmission for $11000. Now my warranty will only do very little because there is a cap that was wasted on the first repair. Their excuse is they can only fix what the computer tells them despite advertising that they are transmission certified shop. I would have replaced it the first time rather than going through this and I was relying on their expertise. So less than 3 months after the first fix, my car is useless and the repair is more than it is worth. I strongly feel had it been done right the first and second time that I would not be in this position. I regret going to this shop. They are very polite but do not let that fool you. You might spend thousands to just be back in their shop shortly after for a way more expensive repair. I decided to take my car home without one more cent at this place. Do not go here! read more

After I was told I needed a service and given a quote, I called around and seemed that many places were 200-300 dollar difference below what Newman's quoted me. They even told me they were giving me a discounted rate since they were already working on my car. The prices compared to others seems like the normal going rate, so they lied. I come here for all my car needs and have never had a problem with the service or hospitality. They perform my oil changes, inspections, tire rotations, and AC repairs without any issues. Pricing is fair and service is quick, even when I accidentally walked in without an appointment. The waiting area has drinks, seats, wifi, and clean bathrooms, so I don't mind waiting the hour it takes for car services. But they also have a complimentary shuttle service if you need to be dropped off elsewhere while you wait. I love this place and don't plan on going anywhere else. read more

So, double insult! I am not BIG on doing Yelp reviews, but this was ridicuolous and I want other ladies to know about it. I DID email twice to the owner and ask to have this rectified/fixed but it has been days and no reply. I would have been reasonable if an apology and refund/other had been offered in a timely fashion, but LADIES YOUR TIME AND MINE IS VALUABLE so if David Newman doesn't want to make it right, but why waste more time? Until recently. Recently tried to charge me double what the dealership would charge, I went to newmans because they were honest and cheaper than dealership. When asked about the pricing I was offered $500 off instantly, which still left them 50% over dealership part replacement. When asked for breakdown of parts and labor I got quoted less than half of original quote. They overshot on trying to get some extra money out of me and lost ~10+ regulars in the process. read more

We moved our vehicle from Newman's to the dealership after three weeks, no end in sight, same warning lights and ~$2.5k. The dealership quickly diagnosed and fixed the issue. Bottom line: Newman's charged a lot to treat the symptoms, not the issue. Newman's: 1. Charges for diagnostics then charges for experiments. 2. Has a high labor rate compared to other repair shops. 3. Doesn't specialize in a particular make of vehicle. 4. Doesn't specialize in electrical issues. 5. Doesn't give status updates or return phone calls. 6. Has little capacity and many vehicles. 7. Said it was understaffed. 8. I went to Newman's for an oil change recently after receiving a coupon in the mail and had a decent experience. I called ahead and was told I could do a walk in, but there would be a couple of hours wait, or I could make an appointment. I made the appointment for the following day that morning around 9:30 and came in for the oil change and around 10:00 I was told that they were starting with my car. Included with all services they do a full diagnostic of the car, so around 10:45 everything was finished and I received a text with the list of different services my car needed in addition to the oil change. The prices for each service were not included in this link, nor was the total, but when I talked to an associate I was able to see the different prices and total. I ended up declining the additional services as the costs seemed a little too high, but ultimately I did have a decent experience. Everyone was extremely kind and the cost for the oil change was on par with what I've gotten at other places, so for the service I had done it was good! read more

Dropped my car off for some repairs and all was completed to my satisfaction. Had my u-bolt replaced as well as a brake job, and ended up spending around 2k at this place. When I dropped my car off at the shop my door handle and lock were functioning on the driver-side door. Upon picking up my car and driving home, I noticed the shop had broken my door handle and I could not get out of the car from the inside. I took the car back to them the next day and they refused to fix it for free. They quoted me for a 100-dollar repair which I agreed to. The next day they called me and upped the quote to almost 400 saying the actuator was broken. Ironic that all their advertising talks about their honesty and making car repairs stress-free.... the opposite experience here. Went in for a diagnosis of engine vibration expecting expert service. Not what happened. They asked me to come in at 7am to drop off the van but didn't start seriously trying to diagnose it until around 2pm. When they did, they were unable to diagnose the vibration and instead told me that I had a radiator leak, of which I informed them when I dropped off the vehicle. The whole wasted day cost me $200. Absolute rip off. And that radiator leak was such a simple fix (which they couldn't even identify) that I just replaced an obviously bad hose clamp and it stopped leaking. The mechanics don't seem to be interested in providing value to customers. Hopefully they can get their act together in the future! read more

I took my car for an oil change and in with the complaint that my front tires felt wobbly and perhaps I needed a tire rotation and balance. After doing their vehicle inspection they did the tire rotation and balance and oil change, after I paid and left they told me I needed 4 new tires, a wheel alignment and coolant flush, a fuel injection flush, brake fluid flush and engine and cabin filter replacement totaling thousands of dollars on top of what I paid for the tire rotation balance and oil change. Here's the thing 2 of my tires were less than a year old, and only two desperately needed replacing as the were separating, which I should have been told before they rotated and balanced these dangerous tires and put them back on the car. I knew something was sketchy about Newmans when I drove away in my car and the wobble was still there. I went to another shop and they alerted me to the condition of my front tires and confirmed that my rear tires were in-fact essentially new. Not only did Newmans try and sell me 2 tires i didn't need and purpose to charge me twice for the same service as they would have had to balance either the 2 or 4 new tires had I purchased them, but I cannot trust any of their other recommendations given their blatant misrepresentation of my tire situation. If you take your car in to be fixed, they will definitely CHARGE you, but they won't necessarily FIX the problem. And when you keep bringing your car in for the same, recurring problem, they'll happily continue charging you money (no refunds for previous work) but that doesn't mean the problem will be fixed. What other business model exists where you 1) take a customer's money for a service and 2) the "service" you provided did not fix the problem but 3) the business gets to keep the money? What a joke. UPDATE: Before picking up my car for the last time, I asked Mr. Newman over the phone to consider either a) doing an inspection for free for the next car I purchase since he never fixed my previous car but charged me hundreds of dollars nonetheless or b) refund the money I paid to have my car fixed, since it was NEVER FIXED. He refused and took exception to the fact that I said that he was fleecing his customers (again- what other businesses take your money and dont refund it when they DO NOT provide the service requested??) and started yelling at ME. Thats right. The OWNER of this shop - who took hundreds of dollars from me without ever fixing my car or reimbursing me for the towing, the rental cars, the lost time and wages from being stuck on the side of the road with a broken down car - yelled at ME, the CUSTOMER, for being so bold as to suggest that he refund me some of my money. I was in no mood to be yelled at under such circumstances so I promptly hung up the phone. That afternoon, when I went to pick up my car, Mr. Newman scolded me for hanging up on him and not letting him finish yelling at me, telling me that I was rude. Well, Mr. Newman, if you're reading this, I have an offer for you: I'll apologize for hanging up on you when you refund me the hundreds of dollars you took from me without ever fixing my car problems. My car needed an O2 SENSOR - I'd paid 125 for a diognostic from someone else. They charged me 132 knowing I told them it was an O2 sensor and 138 for the part. OK MY BILL WAS 859 - to put in 1 O2 SENSOR. ARE YOU KIDDING ME - thanks for being the neighborhood extortion artist. You then lost my key - (oh I'm in a lawsuit with the state AG and County DA and city of austin involved - so did they in 34 years of working with mechanics never NEVER had that happen.) never paying 3x as much for half the service again. This was just a weird experience. I purchased a car nearby and this was where I was directed to have my service done, per the oil change program that came with my car. They did explain over and over that it's a coupon and because my car is a BMW I would still owe a good chunk (but not what that would be until after the service, even with my vehicle information. This kind of thing annoys me to no end.) But...Ok, got it. They were accommodating when I had to reschedule my appointment but didn't seem to have me in the system for my appointment when I went back. I dropped the car off by blocking another car in because there's nowhere to park. We took off and ran our errands and went back for it later. I paid my bill and received the list of recommended work. I asked if it was recommended by looking at it or by the mileage and he told me the recommendations were based on mileage alone, and not anything that anyone noticed. Ok. Everything was ok up until this point and I asked if it was possible to transfer my boyfriend's service program to them as well, and that he worked at the dealership nearby where I had purchased the car (and therefore the service). The owner said, "Employees aren't supposed to use those!!" referring to the service program. BOTH my boyfriend and I purchased our vehicles from that dealer and he basically accused us of abusing the program, when we both had cars that came with them. And my boyfriend referred people over there at work! They then cancelled their contract with the service program the next day! There hasn't been any issue with the actual work but even with that program, I'd have found somewhere else to go so it doesn't matter that they cancelled their partnership. I come from an auto body background and that's just NOT how you treat your customers, especially the ones referring you in the auto industry. read more

These people are probably the worst auto shop mechanics I've ever dealt with. They had my car for over 3 months giving it back periodically. Me having to show them parts that were now clearly not attached and just sitting loose in the engine compartments, as well as piece rubbing electronics together, and not to mention a new coolant leak. I would highly recommend not going to Newmans Automotive. All that being said even the front manager named Mike gave me to most unpersonable experience as well as trying to fight me for me showing my frustration towards the inadequate work and lack of compensation. I am commenting to echo the sentiments of the reviews left recently below mine and express my frustration and warnings to those considering going to Newman's for automotive repairs. I recently took my car to Newman's in hopes of supporting local and being treated as a valued customer. My boyfriend (who can corroborate this story) and I walked in when the engine light went off. They told us it would be $178 to run the diagnostic (much pricier than others in the area) and that that money would go towards any work that needed to be done depending on the results. Results came and along with several other extra jobs that "needed" to be done to my car alongside what was actually wrong. Trusting that Newman's would take care of me, I approved and accepted all of the jobs they put on my bill. The bill was a hefty one and upon reviewing the details, I noticed that the diagnostic wasn't credited anywhere. I called to ask about it and to go over the details and I was abruptly told that they never told me the diagnostic would go to the work (even though we both know they told us it would) and was not offered any service or support. Feeling very taken advantage of and believe part of it is due to the fact that I am a young female with little knowledge of the industry. I wish I would've shopped around as I'm certain I would've gotten a better deal elsewhere and I'm sad about it. read more

I received a coupon by mail for an oil change at Newman's, so I decided to use them for not only an oil change but tire rotation and alignment that I thought was off. Their customer service and communication was excellent, and I felt the price was super reasonable (I saved $30 on my oil change with the coupon as well). They checked to make sure my alignment was actually off before performing the service so as not to add on additional costs when they weren't needed. Everyone on the staff was super friendly and they got the work done quickly. I would definitely return for additional needs in the future, and like that this is a family owned small business- the owner himself was answering the phones and providing great service! read more

My boyfriend took his '05 Chevy Silverado here for a check engine light, so he could pass inspection. They quoted $130 for a diagnosis. Ended up needing to replace an e-vap canister. The part was $70. Total ended up being $200, so they covered the diagnosis with the labor. They also adjusted his brakes and his alignment is better. Big Wooey! They had us out the same day, as we called that morning to see if they could help. Fantastic investment! We recommend this place and will go back for future mechanic issues. read more
