Great place for lunch or dinner. Not to big of a menu but enough choices depending on your craving. Super busy at lunchtime but they handle the rush with ease. Sandwich breads are soft, fresh and delicious. Good quality sandwich meats with nice size portions. Just about $12 for a meal with side and drink. Have tried 5 different items on the menu while visiting from out of town and haven't been disappointed yet. Drove through Jackson and stopped at Newks for a spicy shrimp pizza and it was delicious. I always get a side of honey mustard and sprinkle it on top of my pizza which makes it even better. My toddler had the Little Newks cheese pizza and ate every piece of it. The restaurant was clean and staff were nice and friendly. It's definitely a great place for lunch! read more

Slow service at the registers, lackluster bussing of the tables, and the food looks like it is literally "thrown together". The cashier was about to charge me 6.79. I asked why and showed her the menu. She called the manager Alex who said it was 6.79. I asked why when it said 3.10. She said because they can charge more. I love Newks they even have the half-size salads that I buy 4 at a time so I can half my lunch for my work stretch. I haven't found a place like this. I love their chicken salad and their sandwiches are absolutely delicious. I go there so much they know my name. I haven't found anything that I dislike. Their pizza tastes amazing as well. It is our go-to meeting place with friends and family. They catered my husband's 50th birthday along with Moe's and it was a big hit with both friends and family. Updated review: BEWARE! They NEVER get orders right and they are so rude if you try to get correct order. I hate writing bad reviews, but this has happened 2 too many times at this restaurant. So I feel like it's our fault for always going back due to convenient location. The food is good, but... the customer service at the Jackson, MS location is awful. Almost every time we order the order is messed up. On our visit today 5/30/23 they left out our full Newks Q sandwich. My husband picked up the order and thought I had just gotten a side salad as my meal so he got all of the way to the house which is when I asked where my sandwich was. We called the restaurant and the lady on the phone said she was looking at the sandwich. She called out to the manager and said "someone left their sandwich out of the bag" and the manager yells out "if they want it they can come back and get it" no apology or offer to refund so we didn't have to come back. It's just ridiculous a restaurant can be ran like this. Manager didn't even get on the phone. they need lessons in customer service. I was in the industry for 10 years. A simple apology or doing anything to try to mitigate the situation goes a long way. (The lady who initially answered was very polite, maybe she should be promoted to manager) read more

Guess they just didn't feel like adding any cheese to the pizza tonight, or flavor. They're typically delicious, but I believe the other reviewer has it right about not ordering from this location at night. I'd ordered carryout and when I opened it at home, it seemed okay until I noticed all the toppings on my portobello veggie pizza was falling off, every time I picked up a slice. Their food quality is typically very good, but I have noticed a negative change, especially during evening hours. Prices have gone up everywhere and competition is plentiful in Jackson, so I can do without this eatery for quite a while. read more

Newk's is a chain alright, but without the cookie cutter feel of typical chain restaurants. The salads are massive and you can add your choice of croutons or pickles or sauces to it from the condiments table. I tried the half shrimp poboy and soup combo and K got the shrimp remoulade salad. I'd say my meal was pricey--$7.60-- for a sandwich that was smaller than the 6" Subway sandwich. I like my shrimp fried when its inside a poboy, but Newk's boiled shrimp was healthier I guess. And not too bad on taste either. I liked that they gave me a dip on the side. With my sandwich I got chicken tortilla soup which would have been perfect if they'd gone easy on the salt and thrown in a few more tortilla strips. As for the remoulade salad, it was delicious. How do I know? Well, K tucked into it like it was serious business and he didn't look up for half an hour. I asked him for a bite, but he shook his head vehemently. We didn't speak a word till every lettuce leaf and shrimp was gone from that enormous bowl! And that's how I know the salad was great :) read more

A couple of months or so ago I would have given Newk's 5/5 stars, but they have changed the way they cook their chicken and it's horrible. I don't know if it's just this location, but how they can still have "flame grilled chicken" as the description is just wrong. They bake it in the oven and somehow it ends up tasting like turkey, not chicken. I've e-mailed management about this, but I guess there aren't enough people complaining to change it back. But everyone I've asked that has eaten it says it's not good. I used to eat here once or twice a week because my office is right across the street, but now it's more like once a month and I will NEVER eat the chicken again. read more

I wish I could just write a review for all Newk's chain locations everywhere, but I chose to review this particular location because it's the lowest-rated location I've actually been to. And yes, four stars is too low in my opinion. Newk's is far and away my favorite chain restaurant around. Better than all fast food places, even high-end options like Chick-Fil-A. Better than McAlister's. Better than Applebee's. Better than Chili's... Etc. And it's because their food doesn't taste like chain restaurant quality. They have phenomenal salads. I recommend the Greek salad with added chicken. The Cobb is good, too, as is the Newk's Original and the Ultimate Salad. And their salads are huge--well worth the price. They have great sandwiches, too. Their chicken salad is so good that it has spoiled me so I can't eat chicken salad from anywhere else. Their Club is also a go-to for me, and I even get their veggie Club on occasion. They're always made with thick, warm, toasted bread and fresh-tasting ingredients. I don't get their soups often, but when I do, I am always impressed. Even when I get soup to-go, I have never eaten a bowl of their soup that was anything less than piping hot. No microwave needed. And their soup portions match their salad portions, too. I recommend tomato basil and roasted vegetable. Finally, their homemade cakes are worth a separate, standalone trip, as I have often done. Strawberry in particular is a home run to me. More specifically, these trends hold up at this particular location, too. They also have fast and friendly service even at the lunch rush. And the restaurant is clean inside and outside. If I had to say anything negative about this location it'd be that occasionally it's hard to find a parking place. But that's all I can come up with. I can't recommend them enough, obviously. I can't imagine you'll be disappointed after giving them a try. read more

O.k. - I am going to play the pessimist for this review. I'm a northerner by birth, (born in Cleveland, OH), and lived in NYC, Chicago and Miami as a youth. Which means I grew up in places with real deli's - whether they were Jewish, Italian and/or polish. With saying all that, Newks is aaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh, it's alright, but it's not four star worthy. The cuts of meat are franchise portion and your paying, a serious price for a lunch. I work to hard for my money to spend it frivolously on ambiance and to me, that's really what you are paying for. If your a world traveler and a true foodie, don't get your hopes up, because - it is what it is. read more

Not often I get a bad serving from Newks, but I did today. Generally their soups are wonderful. And a nice variety. So I come often to get a bowl of soup for lunch. Today I ordered the mushroom soup and I was very disappointed. I am not sure what the problem was, but it did not taste good. Send your cooks back to the kitchen, Newks, and tell them to come up with a better testing bowl of Mushroom Soup. Me and the fam wanted a sandwich shop to grab a quick lunch and I was introduced to Newk's. I love this place! The atmosphere was very calming and relaxing with lots of sun and vibrant colors. It is a cafe: you order your food, received a number and your food is brought out to your table. You get your own drink. Our table had a variety of items for me to taste: a personal pepperoni pizza (okay), a chicken salad sandwich (yum), a grilled chicken sandwich (wonderfully seasoned), and my Italian sub was right on point along with the cup of potato soup that I enjoyed above all other. I was also eye hustlin the food that other patrons ordered and I saw some salads and other sandwiches that I lusted after. I will be back here. Good ole fun food. read more

I had my first bad experience with Newks this evening. I went in with my wife to grab something to eat To Go. We went to the counter and the girl was rude and short while taking our order. We placed our order and after watching several people take their food that had ordered after us I we asked about or order we were told after waiting that they were out of the soup I ordered. Waited a little longer and upon arrival home (4-5 blocks away) my soup and mac'n cheese was cold. Quite disappointed but all the good experiences in the past will have me going back to see a redemption. read more

Newk's is addictive. From the group that brought you McAlister's, this is a nice take on a deli. They have good cakes, fresh salads, and tasty sandwiches. I find that you can spend a little bit too much here, once you factor in a drink, depending on the meal, but that is just vs. other sandwich type places. It is pretty well on par with most other lunches (or dinners for that matter). I like that you are able to load up on pickles, jalapenos, garlic (garlic!!), etc. without the need to order it separately. The drinks come in take home cups and you are able to find Splenda sweetened tea, if you are watching your calories. The salads are huge; some could easily feed two, if you wanted to share. The Newk's Q is a sandwich with a taste I have yet to find elsewhere. Anyway, I am a fan! read more

Don't ever eat here! I ordered 2 salmon Caesar salads from this restaurant right at closing time for take out. When I got home, the order was incorrect. I immediately called them and told them that it was incorrect and the time was slightly after 9 pm. I was told that it was after closing time and there was nothing they could do for me. I called them to provide feedback that the order was wrong and hoped to get perhaps a Newk's gift card since it was closing time. The man I spoke with named Jason told me that it was miscommunication and that they were closed and there was nothing they could do for me. I suggested a gift card but they told me that I would have to bring the wrong salads back in the next day in order to get a refund. He continued to say that it was miscommunication. I told him that I clearly stated that I wanted Caesar salmon salad. I could tell he was not the manager and I asked to speak to the manager due to his rudeness. After being placed on hold for 5 minutes, I was told to that I had to bring the salads back in order to get a salmon Caesar salad. When I got there, you could tell they were upset that I had requested for them to fix me new salads. Keep in mind I was the person who stated what I wanted and they missed the order up. Thinking that I would get an apology for having to drive across town, I got salads that appeared to be slapped together and dressing that had more dressing on the outside Rather than the inside. The manager was there when I got there (tall white man) and I was hoping to get some decent customer service but no just got an attitude. Newk's didn't have the audacity to even put it in a bag. When I got home, all I could do was to imagine what they did to it. I threw it away because I was fearful they did something to the salads. Case in point, treat your customers fairly and they will come back. A simple apology would have gone a long way. Don't eat here as the manager and Jason are rude. read more
