I moved to Seattle 3 weeks ago. I'm so happy to find the nail salon near by my house in Newcastle but after when I got my Gel-X done I paid $70 and gave nails tech $20 tip. I'm very disappointed in two days after one of my nail just popped off, 5 days after the other popped & today 7 days later 3rd nail popped. I went in to asked the same nails tech to fix she said she had to charge me $5 and told me that I'm picky. I'm also a manicurist I was in the industry for 30 years. I also told them in the beginning before I make appointment. I know very well about Nails in industry work. I don't recommend anyone to this nail salon. Gotten a special pedicure with gel, pedicure wasn't bad but wasn't the best. What I didn't appreciate was when I was checking out that I was pointed out on the receipt where to leave a tip. So, with some recent personal challenges I don't think anyone cares to hear, I decided some self care was in order. It's been months since my last mani pedi.... I've been to this location before but the result of my experience today I will not be returning nor will I recommend this location. I was told only a 30 minute wait. I sat for over an hour an a half. Feet pruning in water that was cold with no engagement communication or updates. After I was almost in tears bc I surely felt this was personal as if maybe I had done something wrong, I got up to leave. Just a sorry. That's it. I said I'm sorry but I was told 30 min wait and I've been here for an hour and a half. And I just got a sorry. Now I get it, things get busy. And no one came to acknowledge how long I had been waiting, let alone try and accomidate their poor attentiveness and time judgement. Sad day for they lost a customer and potentially more. read more

Overall 80% of the pedicures done very well with a great staff. Important: clean tubs with fresh linear. Women use gloves as a barrier, some face masks are needed, unsure if materials are properly sanitized. Hong does a fantastic foot massage. I felt like I got a lot of relaxing time in the chair. I wasn't rushed but I wast offered extra services (this only happens on slow days). They take walk ins and that's great. I keep coming back over and over. I like this place. I'm not crazy picky and it seems to work for everyone. No sports and no tv's! Big big bonus. read more

Went here because it was conveniently located close to my work. Came in to get a mani pedi and picked out a color for my toes and sat down in the chair. The water was cold and I asked for it to be warmer and then she turned it to scolding hot. I then turned on my massage chair. While the lady was doing my manicure, she told me to turn off the massage chair and pressed the off button. I came here to relax, and especially for the chair. Then they did the whole massage with lotion on my legs and arms and wiped away the lotion after with a warm towel. My arms and legs started getting super itchy and I by no means have sensitive skin and I'm not allergic to anything. I'm not sure if the rags were sanitary or not but I'm currently breaking out in hives. Not to mention, my toenail polish looks like a child painted my toes. The ladies that did my mani pedi didn't thank me for my tip or say bye to me either. Never again will I go somewhere just for convenience. read more

Do not let Brianna do your nails. I have hangnails on nearly every finger, it's painful and unsightly. I called the salon a few days later asking if I can get a refund. They don't do refunds, which makes sense in retrospect. Christine, the owner, called me and offered to redo my nails free of charge. I had to get my nails filled asap and they were my last resort. after i got home i realized how horible they did. already lifting, one already chipped, the pink was not removed from the cuticle. I went back to ask for refund. she scoffed at me and refused to give my money back saying 'I don't care what you think, you are moving' and walked away. No one speaks english, they are always talking on the phone, and the floor is always dirty. and they're prices depend on their mood. they will charge extra for services without telling you they are doing the service. I debated whether to give 2 or 3 stars. I'm feeling generous today, so we'll go with 3. aaaaaand, I've changed my mind. Apparently I'm not that generous. There's really nothing that sets apart Newcastle Nails from every other nail salon in the city. I didn't find the staff to be very talkative or friendly, and my pedicure was average. After walking out, I didn't feel my feet were nearly as smooth as they've been when I've received pedicures in the past from other places. And trust me, I don't walk around kicking rocks all day, so it wouldn't have been that difficult. As other reviewers have mentioned, the nail techs only seem concerned with chatting amongst themselves than interacting with the client. I wasn't look for a full on conversation, but perhaps a "How's your day going?" would've been nice. Customer service is lacking. They use plastic liners for the tub where you soak your feet. I've not seen this at other salons and it felt extremely tacky. Additionally, they also only accept cash tips, which seems like an archaic practice. If you need something quick, Newcastle Nails will do. If you prefer a semi-relaxing experience with a top notch pedicure, I'd look elsewhere. read more

Most workers are experienced and nice.. but two times I had people who could barely communicate and did not actually go by my preference. So there I'm sitting, deciding to "treat myself" on a Tuesday afternoon by getting my nails done. Since I am a person who enjoys little movement, decided to go to the salon right next to my house. Walk in, all is well and get sat right away. After multiple people look at my short nails because I'm a nervous person and like to pick at them without knowledge, she tells me long is better. I agree, but say I would like the acrylic short so I can still easily type on my laptop. She begins working on the messy task at hand, starts the job. Well, halfway through she hits at my cuticle. I flinch in pain, she apologizes then says due to my several large visible tattoos on my body, I should be used to it. Okay, what? I came in to get my nails painted, not for my fingers to bleed. Sucking it up, I smile awkwardly and nod mostly because I have a hard time making any kind of conversation. Hit another finger. Then another. Four of my fingers begin to bleed at the base. Her solution? Poor alcohol on it, because that's soothing on a wound and everything. Well, I end up leaving thinking okay she didn't use a matte finish like I asked but that's basically as bad as it can get right? No, notice my finger start to hurt nightly. You know, when you pull a hangnail and it's sensitive. Flash forward to Saturday, and I wake up to my finger hard to the touch. Knuckle can't move and can literally feel my pulse. Soak it on some hot water says google. Does nothing. It just gets worse to the point I am physically getting sick. I phone a friend, send a picture and decide maybe I should get this looked at. Go to the doctors, she immediately decides to grab a thick needle and start to poke at the swollen finger. Get this, she says she can feel my pulse and the swelling is too bad to easily poke but not bad enough to make a surgical incision to drain to fluid in my finger due to the infection. Bring out needle number 2. Shoves it in my arm to reduce the swelling and pain. Sends me off with antibiotics, oxy and a nice 150$ bill. Says come back in three days if it doesn't go down to cut it open but is going to cost around 700$. Since I am in my twenties working in customer service I don't have insurance so it's all out of pocket. So far, this 7/10 manicure has cost me 200$. If you are into having to take time off of work because your fingers look like the ET when he is trying to "phone home" stop on by. Special treatment if you have any body modifications. This includes dirty looks and whispered gossip in a language you don't understand and a nice hefty prescription of pain pills while cashing out on your sick days . read more

I came in for a shellac manicure the day before my vacation (not sure of the girls name but she had only been doing nails for 3 months) first, they didn't have the color I wanted so they used something "close" to it, I thought they looked alright and I had to get to work. The next day I look at my nails and she didn't even bother to paint my whole nail! NONE of the sides of my nails were painted and she didn't even paint up to my cuticle, after two days it looked like I got the manicure 2 weeks ago. I could have done a better job myself and i paid for shellac so it would last longer, which was the last thing I wanted for this horrible job. I went back after my vacation to speak to a manager and everyone looked around confused and asked if I wanted a manicure...long story short I will never be returning and don't suggest anyone else to after the horror stories I heard from my co-workers about this location when telling them about my experience. read more

Was rushed to choose a nail color even though they were not busy (I was the only person in the store). I decided to get a pedicure but then decided to get a manicure as well. I am so sick of this place. I have gone here on and off for mani's and pedi's because its convenient but today was the last straw. I get inconsistent service, half-ass pedi's, and I am generally in there for over an hour even though my service takes less than 30 minutes. Today I had my feet sitting in water for 40+ minutes waiting. After that I watched as 2 other people that came in AFTER me were being helped while I am turing into a prune. I had origionally asked for a mani and pedi but they forgot about the mani and honestly I couldn't stand to spend another minute in there. I paid and left annoyed with my feet itching.... Not only is the service bad, the place has been getting consistently more cluttered and dirty. No, I don't want to see all of your half empty product jugs lining the walls or your weird plastic bags of orange water. What was I thinking letting the touch my feet?
