I requested acrylic nails fill in, Quality is so so. The owner Kieth is very rude, He talks to his customers like people owe him. He yells at customers, and he is not that good. But he thinks that he is the best technician in the world. Now, you people decide if you want to go to this salon. read more

I rarely leave reviews, but this experience was disappointing enough that I felt it needed to be shared. I called to schedule an appointment for one of your existing clients. Initially, I was told there was availability. However, after I explained the nature of the appointment, the conversation immediately changed. I was suddenly told they were too busy that day. When I asked about the following day and then any other available day, I was repeatedly told there was no availability, without any attempt to accommodate or even be courteous. What bothered me most wasn't that an appointment wasn't available, it was the way I was treated once I explained the reason for the call. Every customer deserves to be treated with respect, regardless of the type of appointment they're requesting. Unfortunately, this interaction came across as dismissive and unprofessional, especially considering I was calling on behalf of an existing client. I hope the business reflects on how it communicates with customers in the future. read more

Wow! What the hell did I get myself into??? Dude was rude af because I have length. Asking how I Live my life with these long nails, I don't think a person giving me a service to be judging me on something I'm paying him extra to do. He could not shape them at all they are wonky as hell very thick. He had to repaint them three or four times because the light allegedly wasn't working and kind of blamed me for his inferior products not drying on my nails! this is the worst my nails have ever looked in my entire life I will never go back and I cannot wait to get these taken off and put on by a professional who actually knows what they're doing I wish I didn't pay him for these but too late now. I mean I guess people have bad days and whatever but if you can't do something then be upfront about it . Don't just slap some nasty shit on and make it look like shit If you know you can't be shaping long nails then don't be charging people for it because it sucks and it looks like trash I'm so pissed read more

I've been going to New York Nails for ~2 years now. Like most nail salons, there are nail techs that are good and nail techs that are not so good. I typically schedule an appointment with Steve and he does a phenomenal job every time! He's personable, my dip powder lasts all month, and if I ever have any problems he fixes them. I've had acrylics, dip powder, and pedicures from this salon and have never had any issues. I plan to continue to go back! read more

Great local place to get your nails done. Well priced + staff are kind and personable. They update their colors fairly regularly (name brand colors like OPI n'at) and their equipment is new and clean. Really a low key gem. Yeah, it's not a fancy spa but they do a good job and I've been going there for years with little to no issues. read more

I love this place. I've been coming here for about 8 years. They are quick, clean and very reasonable. Where can you get a pedi-mani for about $30? And, while they are quick, they are meticulous. My regular manicures last about a week without a chip and that's pretty good for regular polish. I've not had a pedicure chip ever. Even thru a beach vacation. Their colors move fast, too so the rotation in polish is regular. The selection is ample. Recently have moved to shellac manicures and I love them. Fairly priced at $27 with manicure. $22 without. Place is clean and sanitized. I haven't done waxing there, but that seems to be popular as well. Make an appointment! This place can be very busy so it's tough to get in right away as a walk-in. Be prepared to wait if so...they are busy! read more

I never leave reviews, however I've seen all the bad reviews and wanted to share mine. I've never been to this salon. I was on a time crunch and needed my nails filled and cut down. I saw the reviews, but decided to risk it. I walked in with no appointment and was immediately greeted and given a seat. The place was packed and everyone was happy. I was right by the door and every person was greeted when they entered. Appointments were taken back almost immediately. Steve did my nails and I'll definitely go back. He gave me exactly what I wanted. So don't always believe the negative things you read. Had I done that, I'd still be sitting here with grown out nails an read more

I love that my manicures and pedicures are so well done and it's fast too. Staff is very courteous and helpful. My coveted and relatively old nail polish I had brought was goopy and thick so my tech took it to the back and thinned it out even though I told him he could use one of theirs that was a similar color. The busy atmosphere is nice with a mix of East End residents. I would suggest making an appointment, especially on the weekend. read more

I've only been once but it's been a week and my gel manicure is still in perfect shape so they get 5 stars. Your typical nail salon... it's quite expansive.. a lot larger than any of the ones I have ever been to anyway. It was very busy on a Sunday afternoon. I had an appointment but they were able to accommodate several walk ins that arrived while I was there. The only thing that I hate though, is when you walk in and they try asking you questions from across the room while wearing those face masks and while so much noise is going on haha and you just stand there like a deer in headlights. So after a few "huh's?!" I finally made my way to my seat. They have a lot of shellac gel color options. I believe it was Jennifer that did my shellac manicure. She did a thorough and fantastic job. Only $25 bucks. I will definitely include a pedi next time and see how that goes. read more

This is similar to the majority of other nail salons. It has a good amount of nail polish choices. About 8 pedicure chairs and about 12 places to sit for a manicure with little room between each seat. The staff was quick and efficient. Manicure - $12 (took about 45 minutes) While not "the best" or "absolutely in love" with the place, I liked it and will go back again due to the price and speed of the process. read more

The worst pedicure I've ever had. Tom scrubbed the side of my foot raw with the scouring pad used to remove a callus from your heal. When I pulled my foot away in pain. I showed him it was bleeding so he thought it was wise to soak a cotton pad in alcohol and put that on the wound. That was really painful He then applied a powder to stop the bleeding. Three employees were aware of what happened and none apologized. read more

I made an appointment for a full set of acrylics and a pedicure. Upon arrival, the nail techs seemed frazzled but I received the pedicure service and all was well. I then waited 30 minutes to be seen by the nail tech and he ensured me he could do the design I wanted. He asked me how much my nails usually cost and was overall rude. He was extremely rushed while doing my nails to accommodate walk-in customers and my nails ended up not looking anything like my reference photo. There are also hairs cured into the gel polish and they did not even have any brown nail polish shades. My friend who I went with also had a rude encounter with an employee and their technician messed up their design as well. I ended up paying $60 for this set and will never return. read more

This used to be the best place to go but it's really gone downhill. My nails are so bumpy and the lady did not even file them at all. BEWARE/ New ownership don't honor appointments. I've been going there for six years and had three different manicurists because of turnover. But former owner Kim started taking me and she was great. She sold it to people who have no sense of customer service. My appointment today was at 5:15- ample time for a mani so I could leave by 6:15. Ok, so obviously a priority when I moved to Pittsburgh was to find a nail salon stat! Immediately I was blown away with the prices of mani/pedis here, typically around $10-$15 more expensive than in Los Angeles. I digress. Anyways, after doing some preliminary YELP research, I discovered NY Nails, and decided to check it out. I went on a Tuesday morning, probably around 10am, and the small salon was PACKED. I could not believe how busy it was on a Tuesday morning...damn Gina. The salon boasts the cheapest prices in the area, $30 for both mani/pedi, and although it wasn't a high-end spa type of environment, and was very busy, it felt sanitary and clean. I always bring my own nail polish, and my experience was pleasant. I also asked a couple of women in the salon if this place was really "the best." The basic consensus is that it is for the price, which is pretty darn cheap. All and all I would rate this place a good value for a clean, nice experience. Don't expect the Ritz, but you get what you pay for. You dig? read more

This salon isn't much to look at, but I didn't go because I wanted to be in a "spa environment." I went because I wanted a cheap pedi! $20 is nothing; the ladies here do great work. They are meticulous and take their time. I was here 45 minutes. I have paid WAY more elsewhere and been less satisfied. They do get busy, and I had to wait a while before someone could see me. Make sure you bring cash for a tip--they take cards, but only for the base price of the service. read more

The best inexpensive nail salon I've found in Pittsburgh. The place has a strong smell of nail polish and remover, so I guess the ventilation system isn't top-notch, but the technicians are skilled, my polish always lasts a respectable time, and I can walk in without an appointment. Plus it's a 1/4 mile from my house, so it's super easy to stop in for a quick pedi anytime the mood strikes. If you're looking for a beautiful nail salon with a spa-like atmosphere, this isn't your place. If you want a quality mani/pedi without forking over an arm and a leg, stop in. read more

3.5 stars. New York Nails is, hands down, the cheapest place in Pittsburgh to get nail services (even with their recent price hike, they are still the cheapest). With the low price tag, you don't get many frills, so don't expect a spa-like atmosphere or any 'extras' (no free coffee, etc.). It is pretty clean for the most part, but sometimes I wonder how thoroughly they sanitize everything given the volume of people coming in and out. Pros: Lots of skilled nail techs (I like Rosy for acrylics and Tee for pedicures). I would be fine going to anyone for a pedicure, spacious and easy to get an appointment, massive color selection, up on the latest nail trends (e.g. chrome powder, dipping powder, etc.). Cons: I often have to wait 15-20 minutes after my scheduled appointment time, salon is not relaxing and can even be stressful if it is crowded, language barrier with some technicians, no private parking lot. You can pay with a credit card, but tips are cash only. The quality coupled with the $10 savings per visit compared to the nail places in my neighborhood keep me driving across town to New York Nails. read more

I enjoy being pampered, but for some reason the idea of a pedicure always creeped me out -- being perched high in a massage chair while someone sits at my feet sawing off the calluses and cleaning out the nail yuckies just seemed wrong. Who am I, the Queen of Sheba? So for years I attempted to service my own feet, and it often resulted in bleeding cuticles, crooked toenails, and polish that looked like it was applied by a six year old. So a few years ago, reluctantly, I decided that I needed to put my weirdness with pedicures aside and start enlisting the help of a nail professional. Enter New York Nails. They were my very first pedicure, and though I've dabbled in other places over the years, I usually end up coming back here. This is not the Taj Mahal of nail salons -- it's small and a bit dated, but appears to be clean. I've never gotten any foot diseases or nail infections after coming here, so that's good enough for me! They are extremely busy...it doesn't matter what day you come or what time you come, it will be busy. They are very popular and seemingly too small for the amount of clientele that they have. That being said, I always do a walk in and not an appointment, and usually my wait is no more than 20-25 mins (sometimes less, but I've never waited more). I don't have a "regular" that I see -- I've gotten my toes done by almost everyone who works there, and they are all decent. Some are a bit better than others, but not to the point where I feel the need to request someone in particular. They all take their time and do a thorough job. And you can't beat the price -- $22 for a regular pedi, $5 extra if you want a French or design. I've never gotten a manicure there, but you can add one to your pedi for only another $10 ($32 total). And yes, like others have mentioned, this place definitely has a pungent chemical smell. It's not as bad in the summer when they can open the doors, but in the winter it's quite strong. I don't really mind because I'm only there for an hour or so, but I feel bad for the employees...I'm no doctor, but surely that can't be good to be breathing in all day?! read more

I went in to have my gel polish changed because another salon applied it wrong and it was coming off after 2 days! The salon was clean, but I wish they used the sanitizing equipment the correct way. Nothing to be excited about. I was in the area and stopped by to get a color change on my toes. I only get gel on my toes. I called before going and was told for a gel color change and to take off my old color was $23. I got serviced quickly sat in chair 2 min after walking in. When I look at my finished toes my old blue gel can still be seen in the corners of my now peach colored nails. The gel also isn't covered over my whole nail evenly (some spots didn't get nail polish) and on my big toe the color looks like it was running. When checking out the guy told me $30... so not only were my nails not done well but I was being charged a different price than the price I was told on the phone. I won't go back and will explore my options. read more

My first time here and had a good experience! Super cheap for a mani-pedi, only $30. The staff was friendly and spent a good amount of time on me. I saw a lot of women who were regulars and even told me how great they thought the place was. It was super crowded though. I called ahead of time to ask if i could walk-in and the lady over the phone was very nice and said yes. Only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because when I got there, I got a pedi chair right away but it took about 20-30 mins for someone to come help me. Also, as mentioned by another reviewer, the first thing i noticed when i walked in was the smell, definitely needs better ventilation and probably because its such a small place and very crowded. but after about an hour, i guess u get used to the smell.. overall, i would definitely recommend this place. the technicians are very nice, friendly and talkative. and you can't beat the price! read more

I have no idea why this place is so busy. Terrible experience. I was in town and made an appointment for pedicures for my two cousins and myself, asking that we be seated together. After waiting for 30 minutes we were not seated together - not a huge deal as we're not 12. I thought it seemed dirty but I didn't realize how dirty until they left us sitting with our feet in tepid water for 15 more minutes. Terrible pedicure, she tried to use this nasty old cheese grater on my feet and I had to tell her 3 times "Don't use that thing on me " Filthy instruments. If you want tetanus this is the place. read more

I made an appointment for three of us to get a pedi. The place smells like chemicals and it doesnt seem like they have a proper ventilation system. The nail polish selection is outdated and looked old. Finally, during the pedi, the water was cold, the woman's hands were cold and it was the most half ass pedi i have ever received; tho as most reviews indicate, it's hard to find a decent place in pgh that isn't an expensive spa. The woman finished my pedi in 15 minutes and i was left sitting while my friends and other women who were seated will before us were still enjoying some foot tlc. There was no massage, which I am accustomed to and i had to tell the woman 3 times not to cut my cuticles. Im sure it is completely dependent on the person who does the pedi, but i have no desire to come back to this place. read more

Today was my first time here. Before I moved to Pittsburgh my husband bought me a gift certificate to this nail salon to make the transition from New York a little easier. (He's definitely a keeper). I called at about 9:45 to see if they had any availability around 10:45. They did and put me in the book. I showed up on time and picked my colors. Then I was told to go to the 4th pedicure chair at which point I turned on the massage chair. Then my pedicureist set me up with a bowl to soak off my acrylics while he began the pedicure. It was thorough but the massage was week. After that someone else did the rest of my acrylic removal and manicure. It was great! The prices are higher than in New York, but the quality is fantastic. I am very happy and will be returning! read more

While they do an acceptable job at manicures and pedicures, the customer service is not up to par. My experience here is that they are overbooked and understaffed. It would make a big difference if they keep to the time they tell you to be there for an appointment, rather than saying they can take you "now" and then have you wait. That seems like a simple customer service fix. I'll try a few different salons before returning here again. read more

I think their services are great, especially considering the prices. I've been here twice now. The first time was for a pedicure and gel manicure for $47; the second time was for gel removal and regular manicure for $14. I don't know the exact price of the pedicure, but I didn't like how they didn't use a scrub mask/exfoliator on the legs. I really liked my second visit because of the girl I had (which unfortunately, she is leaving at the end of the week). She was very attentive and got every single millimeter of cuticle off. I was being an idiot and messed up my nail when waiting for it to dry, and she didn't give me an attitude at all when I asked her to fix it. I'll probably go again for my hands, but not sure I'm in love enough for regular pedicures here. read more
