I got the best nails ever done! I came in yesterday with a terrible nail work done last in Albany, NY. I told them all the story about my awful nails, how much they hurt and how ugly they were, the man agreed, looked very concerned about my pain and said he could fix them right away. He did a masterful job! He sand them, cut them, repaired them, took good care of my poor fingers in pain. He is truly a perfectionist. He was incredibly patient and detailed oriented. Cheap and nice employees but did not do a great job on my gel nails and they peeled after 5 days which should not be the case with gel.

The manicurist was in such a hurry and brusk that she nipped my finger and left the edges of my nails sharp and rough. Added to this she said they were dry so I left and every nail got smudged getting into my car. I will not return. read more

I went in for mani pedis with my kid, who loves pampering and loves nails. The pedicure was fine, but the manicure was a really bizarre experience. After shaping my nails and cuticles, the nail tech insisted that I pay for services right then. So, I did. But then, of course, I got my card back while my nails were wet. So, smudge city. I pointed this out to the nail tech, who just added more polish. There was such a thick wet mess of polish that it never really cured. My kid's polish was smudged and flaking immediately because the glitter polish they chose was separating. read more

Rainbow Nails is now my go to salon. They took me in last minute for a manicure pedicure at almost. My nails were a mess destroyed by acrylic overlay. I was lucky enough to get Moon (hope I'm spelling that correctly) for both my manicure and pedicure. Moon is an absolutely amazing and talented nail tech. Not to mention a fantastic masseuse, I would pay just for that. She was patient, gentle and went above and beyond to fix my nails without my even asking for the extra effort. My nails, although short, look great. Aside from that, the rest of the nail techs are smiling and welcoming. The Decor is stunning, modern and clean. Decided to check this place out with a gift certificate I got in 2019 (which they still honored, by the way). They use fresh tools for each pedicure, the massage chairs are large and comfortable, the place is clean, the staff is friendly, and the price is super reasonable $30 for a spa pedicure. Good idea to call ahead for an appointment because there was little to no space for any additional walk-ins. The pedicure itself is 3-4 stars, the spa portion is not much but nice (foot scrub, brief massage, clipping and painting). Mine was perfect but my friend had a decent bit of paint outside of her nails that wasn't cleaned up. Either way there were enough positives for me that I'd definitely go back. If I could give this place a negative star, I would. Terrible. I came in on 9/22 to get a gel set. The lady was rough on my nails but she did them. Within less than a week the gel started to peel off. I came in the following week on the 30th to get them fixed, a man fixed the nails where the gel had either completely fell or was coming off. Came in on 10/5 for my money back and they refused to fix them or give me back my money. I understand gel lasts two weeks, but they didn't last one week or two weeks. You can see from the pictures the first set time I got them done and then when I came to get them fixed and then where the entire gel came off. Terrible. Save yourself $30 and a headache and avoid this money sucking place. read more

Honestly I don't know where to begin but I'll just keep it simple. Any of the girls are great. The gentleman I had during my most recent visit unfortunately did not do a good job. Granted I maybe should have not asked for glitter knowing a man would be doing my nails and that the ladies there are more attentive to detail but hey it's 2018 I didn't want to assume he wasn't capable of his job. I've attached how my nails looked in comparison to how I wanted them to look. I showed the photo several times, even asked him to continue in adding glitter (he did check and would ask if it was good, despite it not looking anything like the picture at all) but each stroke of the brush barely added a speck. I did not ask for an intricate design, simply glitter in certain spots on the nail. I gave up in asking for additional glitter and accepted the hands of despair I was left with. I'm sorry but after going there several times over the years I'm sad to say today was probably my last visit. read more

I highly recommend asking for her :) I know others have had negative experiences, but I have always had pleasant ones. I went here to get a gel manicure. I had been here before and didn't remember why I didn't go back. The older gentleman that did my nails did a terrible job. He didn't file or dehydrate my nails before applying the polish so my manicure started chipping in 3 days. I went back and he fixed the nails that had chipped but the remainder of the nails weren't far behind and I didn't have time to go get the rest fixed Additionally the polish was sloppy to begin with. There were missing spots on the edges of the nail beds and he got polish on my skin. When I asked for him to clean it up he replied "it will wash off" but honestly if I wanted to leave the salon with my nails looking a mess then I would just do them myself. I wouldn't recommend this saloon and I won't be going back. read more

I'm looking for a new nail salon to go to when I visit, since the one near me closed down. Unfortunately this place won't be my next go to. It was not so clean, and the mail tech literally took half my nail off when he was filing it down. I told him not to file too much since my nails are already short, he told me he understood. Meanwhile, the filing hurt so bad I had to tell him to stop, I look down at my big thumb, and half my nail is gone. It's going to be so annoying to grow back. read more

This place is nice! I wouldn't say it's the best nail place I've ever been to but they get the job done. They have a great deal for a mani-pedi ($35 with 10% student discount, which makes it $32.) That's the best price I've seen in Pittsburgh for a mani-pedi so far. Back home, I can usually get one for $25-28. The staff is fairly nice and courteous. The woman who did my friend's nails was very personable but the woman who did mine was very reserved and didn't speak English very well. When she wanted me to move my hand and I wouldn't do it the way she wanted me to she would just kind of make these groans, which confused me. Their equipment needs some cleaning too. For my manicure, I watched them take out bowl from under the sink with beads in it and fill it up and use it for my hands. After using it, they drained the bowl and left the beads in it and just stuck it under the sink again. This kind of disgusted me because they didn't even clean it for future use. I've always been happy when I came here for a full set, fill, or a mani. I've never gotten a pedicure though. It's been reasonably fast during after-work hours every time I've gone in. It's priced the same as other nail salons. I agree with the review that says they need more colors. If you're into pinks, you'll be fine, but I like to do funky stuff with my nails and I'm kind of limited here. (I usually get the base color done here and add designs on my own bc I like my own results better and I don't have to pay extra.) Go here and ask for Tammy! She rocks! P.S. I don't understand why this place has such poor reviews. They were great and Jessa did a fabulous job on my fingers and toes. Rainbow Nails is a clean friendly spot on that busy stretch of Forbes Avenue off of Murray. They are one of the only nail salons open on Sunday and were able to take me right away as a walk-in. Earlier in the day, I went to another spot at the bottom of Murray Ave that was totally sketch - it was so bad, I walked out. Jessa, my nail tech, opened a sterile pouch of nail tools in front of me, asked how I wanted them trimmed and shaped, and she paid extra special attention to applying the color. She was friendly and met my chatty mood throughout the entire procedure. She was the only one to work on my nails and I'm incredibly happy with the results. Give this place a chance. I've been coming here for about three years now. I've gotten my nails done by pretty much all of the nail techs - they are all fantastic - but I routinely make appointments with Malia. Not only does she have a great personality, but she approaches her job like a make up artist or hairstylist. She's not passive, she tells me what it's going to be at times, and every suggestion she's ever given has totally worked. Most recently, I told her I was attending a fashion show, showed her the dress, and she gave me a mani/pedi that absolutely set off my look. The shop is clean, everyone greets you with a smile, and again, they ALL do a great job. Prices are excellent as well. Even though I don't live as close as I used to when I was in Homestead, this is the only nail salon I can frequent in the city. read more

I've been to Rainbow Nails in the past and I've never had an amazing experience but never that bad either. I went on a Friday to get a gel polish removal and a manicure. I chose a dark green polish and as soon as she applied the color (reading the reviews and yup you guessed it I was sitting in seat #3 must be cursed) right away I could tell this was not going to go well. The color was everywhere! in my nail beds everywhere around my fingertips it was a huge mess! Once i saw she thought she was done and was going to leave my nails still messy I asked her to clean up not just my nails but my fingers too! She went back and cleaned them up but it was still messy and I just gave up. The next day the color started to chip! I dubbed them my nightmare nails. Before leaving this review I wanted to try again and see if they would redo the manicure. I called in and they were kind enough to offer to redo them (thus 2 stars and not 1.) I went in a couple days later and was taken within a couple minutes. I chose a less ghastly color and the nail tech started working on my nails (I was again seated at station #3.) My nails were clearly uneven and she barely really bothered to file them evenly (they were badly chipped already since my last visit week) while she didn't NEED to file them evenly I was surprised she didn't . . . Then the color removal. This green - i asked them to just toss the color! When the tech started to take off my nails it made a huge mess on my skin and discolored my skin. The man seated next to her saw that my tech was applying color and it seemed like he prompted her at her to go back to remove the color off my skin. She did but the color still remained. If you have a tech that you are happy with thats great but avoid seat 3 at all costs and if you've never been I wouldn't risk it. Basically i'm not coming back here. One of the worst experience I have ever had with my nails. I walked in for a mani/pedi and they took me in immediately. They were so impatient and wanted me to hurry up picking up the nail paint. The lady attending to me did an OK job on my feet, but she ruined my finger nails. I kept telling her that the tips are rough and not neat at all, but she didn't listen to me nor did she reply back. She just kept uttering something in a language unknown to me. Plus in order to get that right she just kept adding more coats on my finger nails. The nail paint started coming off within an hour. I was so disappointed with the service, I usually go back to the salons if something goes wrong but I knew there was no fun here. read more

She was holding my hand like some sort of dirty object. When I also asked her to shorten my nails, she was not happy again and complained that it took 5 more minutes than she expected. Eventually she charged me $10. Whatever I paid, that is fine. Not a big deal. But these people are in a service business. Be kind to your customers!! I had a great experience here. I walked in (without an appointment) for the first time today, on an early Saturday afternoon, and someone was available for a gel manicure. Was given a bottle of water from fridge in the back when I was thirsty. Han was excellent-- very thorough and detail oriented. I feel I got a very high quality manicure. I really enjoy this salon! Everyone is friendly, it is always clean and they offer ESSIE polishes. The selection is small, but most places don't even have ESSIE. I have found this to be one of the most affordable nail salons in Pittsburgh and I have tried a lot!!
