I've been coming to Sunshine Nails several times and it's normally my go-to spot. I've always had positive experiences and have left happy with both the service and the results. However, during my most recent visit, I unfortunately walked away feeling disappointed. I had a different technician (an older male tech), and the experience felt rushed from the moment I was choosing my color to when I sat down for the service. It felt very different from the relaxed, attentive atmosphere I've experienced in the past. I didn't say anything at the time because I'm not someone who enjoys confrontation, but I did want to share the feedback in hopes that future visits can reflect the level of service I've consistently received before. I wouldn't return. Every time I come here, the prices are constantly changing and they upcharge for everything! I've been here 3-4 times this past year, I went in November and the nail lady talked me into getting "Gel X" because my nail beds are small and she said it would also help grow my nails. I'm convinced this is just a lazy way of getting out of doing actual acrylic's. I loved my first set of the gel x and came back for a refill in December to get Christmas nails! Not only did I come back, but I also brought a friend bc I loved the way my nails turned out last time, however this time was a horror story! The girl doing my nails who also did them last time, you could tell she was irritated and annoyed that she actually had to do work and do designs and gems on top of the gel x (literally same as I got last time.) she kept making weird ass comments the whole time about my pinky finger (I previously shut it in the car door 2 weeks prior however it didn't affect the nail, but my finger was swollen.) She made a comment saying, I should go to the hospital because it's infected. I then asked her, "well if it's infected I probably shouldn't get the nails then right?" Her response "it's ok." And proceeded to do my nails. As a medical licensed professional my nail was not infected, it was swollen underneath my skin surrounding the nail and entire finger lol. Also if she thought it was infected why proceed to do my nails and say it's ok? She rushed the services, and upcharged me. I literally kept telling her I didn't like my nails, and i kept telling the guy next to me who was doing my friends I didn't like them, they both ignored me! Long story short I went home and 4 of the nails were already falling off. She rushed the services, proceeded to do unsafe protocols by the health department and wouldn't take responsibility for her actions the next day when I went back, to get them REMOVED. Me and my friend went in the following evening with a clear mind to talk to the owner or whoever the man is at the desk, I told him I just wanted them removed and I want my money back or I can just dispute it with my bank. They kept going back and forth, first give me a discount my next service, then give me a partial refund, then once all the reviews about being overcharged and prices constantly changing and my friend actually saying she was going to report them to the health department they actually agreed to cut them off and refund my original payment method. Mind you that was ALL I asked for. I'm not sure who actually runs or own this store, but the employees were arguing with me and my friend literally all of them except for the older gentleman and woman behind the desk. As someone who owns a business myself, I would never allow my employees to do that. The man behind the desk then stated I told her it was ok if she did my nails because of the supposedly "infection" she claimed I had. I told him pull up your cameras, they have audio right? Literal crickets after that. The nail tech lied, I never said this was ok, I asked her if it was ok and she said yes... as a licensed or supposedly licensed nail technician if you even for a second thought someone had an infection, you should have turned the service down IMMEDIATELY. SHE DID NOT. I'm very disappointed with this place, and how the owner lets his workers speak to paying customers, not to mention the girl doing my nails has a terrible attitude and I even told my friend this, if she didn't do such a good job on the design I wouldn't have returned a second time. So after spending 2 hours in a nail shop, then going back the next day to get them removed, I expected a simple yes we'll remove them and refund your original payment. I get my nails done constantly, I know if I go home the same day after getting them done they should not already be lifting and coming off. Argumentative and disrespectful workers. Who obviously don't want to actually do there jobs, or enjoy doing it. She literally rushed me. And when I mentioned the price difference between the first set and this the one lady goes "well that's because those bows are bigger than the first set." SHE NEVER GAVE ME ANOTHER OPTION, those were the ones she brought out and the only ones! I would not return here. I've been scheduling appointments since November to go regularly for acrylic and a pedicure. Each time, I was assigned someone whose service was okay and job was sloppy. This recent time, I was charged $90 for an acrylic fill, one nail repair, gel French, and a polish change on my toes with regular polish, the most I've paid since going especially for a fill. While the lady was nice, I told her that the black polish is staining the base of the French and asked to clean it up before leaving. She cleaned the skin part under my cuticles, I asked again and was more specific and she said it was fine. While the acrylic job was done okay, the polish job make my nails look dirty and is not worth what I paid in addition to a tip. Each time I go, I'm assigned to someone who doesn't do well while there are many quality techs in the salon who take pride in their works. It gives don't want you as a customer which is fine and I'll go somewhere else. 3 chances was enough. I've went in the past and didn't have these issues. read more

I went in yesterday to get French tip on builder gel, the guy told me 70 for almond nails then I get in the store, a male starts working on me and as soon as he starts shaping my nails the owner tells him to charge me an extra $5 for my almond shape. This was annoying because it was not what we agreed on but I proceeded anyway, the male who was shaping my nails has a few crooked shaped when I pointed it out he got all upset and refused to help me. He told me to have a seat at the front for someone else to help me. Although he has a right to refuse my service, it was embarrassing when they start talking about you loudly to their coworkers in their Language and everyone in the store keeps looking at you. I finally got another lady who made my nails even worse. Some of them are slanted and the shape of the French tip does not look professional. Some of them are slanted so bad that it shows the skin underneath. The lady told me the nail is slanted because that's the way my finger grows, I have never heard that my entire life but it is not a way to justify unprofessional work. I think this is horrible service, extremely expensive, and crappy work! Do not go to this place. read more

Sunshine Nails? More Like Thunderstorm Nails. My friend and I booked manicures and pedicures and arrived on time. We were seated immediately, which I appreciated. The color selection was limited to one book on the center table. Basic shades, nothing special, but workable. The experience shifted the moment my feet went into the pedicure tub. The water was cold. Not "slightly cool." Cold enough that I instinctively pulled my feet back. No one checked the temperature before filling it. I politely asked for warmer water. They added maybe 20 seconds of warm water into an already cold basin. It was still cold. I asked again, this time specifically requesting hot water. Again, a brief splash of warm water. Still cold. I eventually removed my feet from the tub entirely because sitting in cold water while paying for a relaxing pedicure feels absurd. Warm water is the bare minimum expectation for that service. My friend's pedicure was finished in about five minutes. It was extremely rushed. Minimal exfoliation, barely any scrub, almost no massage. It felt transactional, not like care. Then came the part that left me genuinely shaken. The technician began insisting that I get gel polish for both my pedicure and manicure. I declined. Calmly. Politely. He asked again. I said no. He suggested it again. I said no. He insisted it would last longer and not chip. I said no. He told me I "needed" gel. I said no. He said he wouldn't do regular. I said no. He asked again if I could just do gel. I said no. In total, it was close to seven separate times that he pushed gel polish after I had clearly declined. Not two. Not three. Close to seven. Each time, my answer was the same: no. At that point it no longer felt like a suggestion. It felt like harassment. For context: I have had skin cancer and surgery on my hand. I intentionally avoid UV exposure from gel curing lights. This is a health decision for me. I should not have to justify or defend that choice repeatedly while sitting in a nail salon chair. As he continued pushing, I felt cornered. Pressured. Small. My chest tightened. My stomach dropped. I started to feel sick and on edge. I am naturally polite and non-confrontational, so having to repeat myself over and over felt draining and humiliating. It was as if my "no" meant nothing. When I finally got him to agree to regular polish, his demeanor shifted. Irritated. Cold. Dismissive. After finishing my manicure, he looked at me and said: "It will chip and get messed up. You can not come back and complain, ok???" I was shocked. Not because regular polish chips. Everyone knows that. But because of the tone and the implication. I had never complained. I had simply declined gel. To be preemptively warned not to "come back and complain" felt accusatory and hostile. I sat at the dryer quietly for the full 20 minutes he instructed. He came over again and told me to be careful and repeated that it takes a "very very long time" to dry, as if I were about to sabotage the service. I wasn't rushing. I wasn't difficult. I was just sitting there. By the time I paid the $125 bill for both of us, I felt uncomfortable, unsettled, and honestly voiceless. I went in expecting a relaxing self-care appointment. I left feeling bullied. On top of that, I have concerns about sanitation. The nail clipper, file, and cuticle tools used on me appeared to be the same ones used on the previous client without being sterilized in an autoclave or visible sanitizing unit. The purple pedicure scrubber was visibly worn down and looked heavily used. For a business that works with skin, cuticles, and potential exposure to bacteria or fungus, proper sterilization is not optional. It is a health standard. Being pressured repeatedly after saying no nearly seven times is not customer service. Being told I cannot "come back and complain" is not professional. And visible concerns about tool hygiene are not minor details. I walked in ready to relax. I walked out feeling uncomfortable, dismissed, and shocked. I've tried a couple different pedicure technicians and find all of them do not do a good job with cuticles and do not polish close to the end of the nail bed. Maybe this is done by design because clients have to come more often. read more

I'm a big dude with "dad" feet and I got my dogs done at Sunshine in a pedicure and they were awesome! Should've been doing this for a long time, and they did an excellent job! Massage chair, hot water... 45 minutes later I'm walking out with soft feet. My wife gets her nails done here all the time and she's supremely satisfied with the job they do. Their work is beautiful, durable and lasts and you can tell the difference in quality here. Definitely go. Word to the wise: bring cash. read more

I arrived right around my appointment time, and the place was just opening for the day. One of the employees greeted me, and I was quickly paired with a technician. I started with a pedicure - the chairs had several massage features that were really nice and relaxing, adding to the experience. My technician, Tam, was very helpful when it came to color and with suggestions on how to have my nails done. We comfortably talked throughout the appointment, which was nice. When it came to the manicure, Tam suggested getting gel versus regular as I still had a few days before the wedding I was in. I opted for a French gel manicure. Tam gave me options with base colors, trying them on my nails before I committed to one. She did a wonderful job and was very steady and precise. The pricing here is reasonable for the little I know about the industry. I didn't feel I was charged an arm and a leg and the staff was quality all the way around. As mentioned in other reviews, there is a 3% charge for credit cards but it's pretty minute in the grand scheme of things. Bring cash if you want to avoid! read more

That just might have been the best pedicure I've had since moving to Pittsburgh. Today was my first time here but I'll definitely be back! I got the deluxe pedicure for $65. It included aromatherapy, exfoliation, a hot stone massage, paraffin wax (plenty of it & not rushed like most places do), hot towel treatment, and polish. The chair was new and gave a great massage. I didn't feel like I was being rushed through so they could get to the next customer. It was a relaxing experience and a great job. I appreciated getting the menu of options at check-in so I knew exactly what I was getting and what it would cost. Note: they charge 3.5% for paying by credit card. They're very clear and upfront about it, plus they have an ATM in the lobby and will even reimburse you if your bank charges a fee to use it. Tips are asked to be paid in cash, but that's very standard around here. read more

Great nail place. One of the best I found in the North Hills. The first time I went, there was a older women who did my pedicure and nails and she was a bit aggressive and kept upselling me. I went to the salon on June 1, 2024. It was the worst manicure I've ever gotten. I requested builder gel manicure which is on their menu. They acted like it was a big ordeal. I told the technician do not cut my nails just file and shape a little, I wanted to let them grow. He never asked me what shape I wanted. Instead, he filed down my nail to the skin. I woke up today and my nails hurt! The builder gel is so thick. My nails look horrible. I am seriously upset by this. They should not offer something that obviously they have no idea how to do properly. read more
