WHAT A GEM! Who knew that there was a delish Halal place right outside campus?! If you didn't, you do now. My recommendation is to get the mixed rice plate with chicken and gyro plus falafel and extra sauces. If you can't handle spicy then just go easy on the red sauce. But it's just pure wonderfulness in a plate I promise its worth that sting. The shwarma wrap with gyro and chicken is also amazing too, if you don't want rice. The wrap itself is sooo soft and fluffy so it feels like you are engulfing naan, and the core is a blend of savory, spicy (or nah), and juicy goodness... And what about the burgers? Nothing but goodness, as well. You really can't go wrong with anything here. Well, maybe if you order chicken nuggets, but I wouldn't know anything about that haha. Me and my boyfriend weren't super hungry but we had a heavy lunch so we wanted a small and relatively healthy bite for dinner. We went inside around 10pm and there was no one inside. We ordered the Garden plate with all three meats on medium spicy. This was perfect for us! We got our vegetables grilled and the meat was perfect for us because we didn't want to kill our stomachs. We normally eat really really spicy foods and am sure we could have handled extra spicy because the medium was alright. It's nice because this place gives you a student discount if you have a UTA ID, which my boyfriend is. The water cups need to be requested at the cashier and it's smaller cups, so if you drink a lot you probably would need to ask a few times. I would definitely recommend this place!! read more

I use to frequent here all the time, but after the rudeness I encountered today, I won't be back. I understand you're not open until noon, but I tried calling a little early bc by the time I drive there, it'll be noon. I called, they picked up. If I couldn't order until noon, then don't pick up the phone until noon. I asked if I could order for pick up, i was told "no, we open at noon." I asked if i could order for pickup right at noon, and was rudely told nope in such a condescending manner. I don't normally get offended easily, but this really annoyed me to no end. Whoever this rude person was would have been much better off just not picking up the phone. The condescending tone was not warranted. You're already there and obviously picking up the phone. You could've nicely said I can take your order but the order won't be ready until noon or a little after. Tucked away off Cooper St is this surprising find in Arlington: New York Eats lives up to its name with authentic New York food-cart Halal greatness. The atmosphere is Street side deli/café close seating with the door standing open on a cool Texas day bringing a cheerful breeze inside. I ordered the Times Square Burger with American and provolone cheese and a "special burger sauce". The burger appeared a little small, but was tasty, dense, and filling. My son enjoyed the Chicken and Gyro Mix, served in a round foil tin with rice on the bottom and a mixture of chicken and Gyro meat on top with white sauce and other vegetables. It had a strikingly robust and delicious flavor. Service was friendly and helpful. The food is counter service, so we didn't interact with the staff much. But we were welcomed as first-timers and our questions were answered competently. Having grown up in New England, and still thinking of NYC as "the city" I found New York Eats to be a refreshing and memorable eating experience. I will definitely be a return customer! read more

Smallish menu but some pretty good flavors overall. I had the Manhattan which included chicken, beef, and the falafel. Service was fast and food came out quickly. I had really high hopes for this place but was slightly disappointed :( The restaurant overall was pretty tight in space and is probably a little small to accommodate lots of groups or families. Overall, the service was pretty good. The employees were friendly. I ordered a spicy gyros sandwich and after spending $6 plus tax, expected to see meat, but only saw VERY finely chopped pieces. The sandwich was tiny and fit in a single hand, mind you my hands definitely aren't the largest...The sandwich was very well flavored but had too much sauce to the point where it was dripping. The shredded lettuce was also a little limp. I would really appreciate if there was more meat, fresher veggies, and lesser sauce and maybe if the price was chopped by a buck. If the price is kept at $6, I think it would be more fitting if it came with a small side or something. Sadly, I ended up meandering around my kitchen later that night for food again. read more

Let's start with this place not being a nostalgic representation of a New York Eatery or food cart. It's definitely a Texas restuarant and the food is definitely simpler and calmer than what you would expect from the ever bustling NY food cart. However, with that aside, we can focus on how this restuarant is as its own business. The food quality here is pretty average, it's nothing to rave about but it's also not unworthy of a mention. The food comes in a portion that will mostly fill you up, but not stuff you. The prices are a bit high for the platters, about $7-8 which is acceptable although I've seen much better options elsewhere in Texas. They have the classic white sauce, a spicy red sauce and then this slightly acidic chilli paste. A good combo when mixed with everything else in the platter. Overall, I would recommend coming here and giving it a try for yourself and making your own decision either way. It's really a personal preference once you've established you enjoy this kind of food. read more

I ordered the combo platter and it was my first time trying falafel and I liked it! Everything was good and the pita bread was soft this time. I recently ordered online and picked it up. I went home to find out they made a mistake in my order. I was super stoked to try something from here based on all the great reviews and all the pictures that were making my mouth water, but today wasn't my day. I ordered the Chicken/Gyro Meat/Rice deal and I didn't want Lamb, but ordered it anyway and I was just going to pick it all out, but that rice was not something that I've ever tasted before, and wouldn't ever want again. When I ordered it, I also put in the request to have the sauce on the side because I wasn't sure if I would care for it or not. I guess ordering online they didn't realized I only wanted the sauce on the side? I had no idea what white sauce was and never heard of it, and it was put on my food, so needless to say I didn't eat much of the food at all, only the Chicken and some pita/fries. My husband got a New York burger and the patty was falling apart and very thin. The curly fries were also soggy. I got a mixed gyro from here. The flavor was great. The chicken was well seasoned and so was the beef. I liked the sauces they put inside; it wasn't dry. The place is pretty cool, and very laid back. I absolutely LOVE it here, we ordered New York Eats on the Fourth of July in Addison for the first time and I fell in love. My boyfriend told me there is a location 15 minutes drive from our apartment and I knew we had to go. I ordered the chicken and falafel plate which was pretty good but not as good as the chicken pita I got the next time. We also ordered cheese fries and downed them in white sauce, so good! The only negative is every time I go here (or any New York Eats) they seem to forget something from my order every single time. I ordered the chicken pita with fries inside and there were no fries. Then I got the chicken and falafel pita but no falafel. Then when I got the plate I got pita on top and no pita (mind you I'm paying for these extras). I am so torn here with the 4 stars. I really want to give it 3.5 simply because it was good, really good, but it was not HOLY CRAP THIS IS MY NEW FAVORITE PLACE good. Ya know? I got the gyro platter on salad with all the veggie toppings available and they add their famous "white sauce". Now in regards to the sauce..... this is where I probably gave it less than 4 stars in my mind. This "white sauce" is worthless to me. It is some kind of ranch based weird concoction of unnecessary nonsense. They had this AWESOME spicy sauce and next time I will make sure I opt for that instead. You ranch people just make no sense to me. Go to your own ranch island and I'll stick with the spicy stuff. I really liked the gyro meat itself, but knowing how much is actually on the platter I would have ordered more. It was a smaller portion of meat than I was expecting for the price I paid. My boyfriend got the Manhattan platter and he enjoyed it as well, but agreed it was a small portion for the price we paid. Extra meat and pita desired for him. He said that he thought the pita tasted store bought as well. Will I go back? Absolutely, but I tend to grave more authentic Mediterranean food.
