Ate here with our family (2 adults, 2 children and an infant) and ordered three meals. We enjoyed the drunken noodles, but weren't impressed with the pad Thai. We were surprised to find a mandatory 20% gratuity added to our bill without any communication. When I inquired about it, the server pointed out the policy that was in small print at the bottom of the menu squished between a bunch of other information. It definitely seemed intentional so you would miss it. When we asked whether we had the option to choose our own tip amount, we were told no. We paid it, but wish the policy had been communicated more clearly upfront. We always tip 20-25%, but it felt wrong to not have a choice since it is service based. This was our first dine in experience here, but we will be checking out other Thai places in the area that are hopefully more transparent. read more

This place has one of the BEST Thai food in DFW, and their Pad Thai is the BEST I've ever had!! So we ordered the Pad Thai, of course, and their sauce is just perfect in flavor and spice. Easy parking, off the highway & near hotels (we are traveling), searching for something fresh & semi-healthy as fast food is not doing it. Walked in around 8pm, available tables in a clean well-lit dining area. Greeted as soon as we walked in, seated & waters brought out immediately. Menu had the usual & some items that I have never tried. Prices were reasonable. I started with Fried Quail (under appetizers) - my daughter raises Quail for eggs. Figured let me see how the bird actually tastes. It comes with a sweet thai sauce which takes it over the top. I found it delicious overall, it is a Quail so not a lot of meat, but what you do pull off the little bones is tasty. Enjoyed it. I also did a bowl of Wonton Soup - By far the best Wonton soup that I ever had. Served very Hot (awesome) , and the consistency & flavor was amazing. Just what I needed after day 5 of our roadtrip. My wife did yellow curry, she loved it, and so did I as I helped her eat it all- We don't normally do dessert, DO NOT LEAVE HERE WITHOUT TRYING THE MANGO STICKY RICE. It came with fresh mango, unbelievably good sticky rice and a scoop of ice-cream separating the two. We did coconut which was an experience by itself with coconut flakes in creamy deliciousness. YUM! So happy to have found my new favorite thai restaurant, my friends and I came in for a delicious meal around 4pm on a sunday, it is a sweet hole in the wall type of vibe. I had the beef pad kee mao and a Thai tea. The entree came with a cup of vegetable soup. Everything was good overall. The vegetable soup was fairly unremarkable but still a nice little bonus appetizer. The pad kee mao was a little too heavy on the sauce but otherwise good. I ordered a 3/5 on the spicy scale but it lacked the spice I was expecting at that level, especially for a traditionally spicy dish like pad kee mao. The Thai tea was likewise good but a little too heavy on the condensed milk. It came in a plastic boba cup. I personally prefer mine in a glass with ice and a spoon. It seems to taste better that way for some reason and the melting ice helps cut some of the sweetness. The inside is casual with tables and booths. They each accommodate 4 people if I remember right, though you can probably combine tables if you have a larger party. Overall, it's not the best Thai I've ever had, but it's above average and I would eat here again. read more

My husband and I have gone several times to the Arlington and to the new Mansfield location since the Mansfield location opened. I am not sure if there has been ownership or if the cooks changed, but I'm so sad to say our favorite place is no longer on the list of options for us to go to since the quality has declined so greatly. We used to order every Friday night and even had Sunny Thai cater my husband's milestone birthday celebration, but every time we go now, we are disappointed by the degradation of quality. The entrees were very full of flavor, and the spice level was exactly how I would expect for what I ordered. I do think the salad rolls were just okay. Holy Tom Yum! I've been frequenting Sunny Thai for a couple of years now. Consistency is the first word that comes to mind if I had to pick a word to describe this place. The curries are excellent, their tom yum is my favorite. The spice level has great range depending on what you're looking for. I choose a 4 and it's the various flavors and spicy spice are SO GOOD. I always get this shrimp or vegetable dumplings (steamed) and the coupled sauces are delicious. My son, who's picky and won't ever try anything new, loves the sticky mango rice. First time at Sunny Thai for me. My friend had eaten here previously and had enjoyed the food. We were greeted with a smile upon entering. It is a small place with booths and tables. I ordered the chicken pad Thai spicy level 2 and my friend ordered papaya salad with beef spicy level 1. It did t take very long for our food to be brought to the table. My pad thai was delicious. Plainly furnished, Sunny Thai offers affordable prices instead and simple service. We went in for lunch on a very hot summer's day and found two large floor fans in use. There was no place to sit, at the time, that was out of the way of getting blown on. I'm not very keen on floor fans while I'm eating and I don't think I'll go back when it's hot. I would enjoy being there any other time, though. We had Tom Kha Gai and Shrimp Salad Rolls. I had the Chicken Larb with additional tomatoes and cucumbers. and my husband had the Orange Chicken.
