    Steak and Potatoes

We decided to pop in even after reading the reviews since we figured it would be a hit or miss. I would say it was a miss. Reviews were right. First impressions of the atmosphere was quiet and not busy at all and outdated. I ordered an orange juice which was not great and sour. If you know Minute Maid from a fountain machine, it's not great. Menu was enormous in choices so I wanted to select something super simple - I went with a plate of French toast deluxe. We order silver pancakes for our kids and everything seemed like frozen food but reheated. Tasteless and bland. Our order came through and you can see the pictures. Two big slices of tasteless French toast pieces along with a heated up sausage circle, ham, and bacon. Potatoes we're fresh but again bland. It just was so bland. Overall, server was nice. But everything else fell short and met the bare minimum of a restaurant. So if you're contemplating.. choose another location, you'll probably get some more taste and flavor somewhere else. Bathrooms are decent, if you just need a place to really go and watered down soap to clean your hands.

    You're here.

My favorite place for breakfast when I'm at the beach. New York Diner delivers every time, but I do order the same thing when I go there. Take that into consideration. I know they serve lunch also, but I've never eaten lunch there. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. I ordered one egg over easy, corned beef hash and grits. So many people don't like grits but you have to know how to fix them up southern style. Add butter and lots of sugar into the grits and they are delicious. However, don't do this if you have shrimp and grits. My egg was beautiful and I wished I had gotten two. Mike got poached eggs and wished they had been a little runnier. I love their corned beef hash. If you're in the area, stop by. I am definitely coming back.

This place is right on. The diner has ample parking so no trouble finding the place and parking. Also, place is very clean and organized. The owner is always there. Great food and awesome service.

    Soggy Monte Cristo

My hubby and I drive by here many times and decided to give it a try for lunch. We arrived at about 1:15 and the place only had 1 other table. They close at 2:00, so I thought we have plenty if time. We ordered the Monte Cristo and a Philly Panini. They Philly Panini was pita bread that was put briefly on the grill to get the grill marks. If you are going to say you have Panini on the menu, they should be made with a panini maker. Had a little meat and was served with an ice cream scoop of a yellow blob of something. Next, the Monte Cristo. The sandwich was soggy, it was so disgusting. It had 1 piece of ham and cheese. It should be crispy not soggy. This also came with the yellow blob of what was supposed to be potato salad. I have never tasted something like this before and not sure how to describe it besides yellow blob of nasty. Now I know why there was only 1 table there. Also, when I asked the waitress for the check she gave it to me and stood there waiting for me to give her the money. Maybe she was new and didn't realize that it was a rude thing to do. All in all, won't ever be back and DO NOT RECOMMEND!

Hot turkey sandwich with french fries, cranberry sauce and green beans.

The free hush puppies were a nice and delicious surprise…read more I had the prime rib sandwich. It was delicious! The horseradish sauce over the prime rib with crispy onions with a soft roll- so tender. My friend got their hamburger and it looked good too. They offer tater tots for a side! Got a kick out of the restrooms- setters or pointers. Hilarious!! Staff friendly- all that passed our table made sure we were doing good. We sat outside in the covered area and there was a perfect cooling breeze. Couldn't have asked for a more perfect day to enjoy their patio.

If you're heading down to Dead Dog Saloon in Murrels Inlet, don't let the modest exterior fool…read moreyou--what's waiting inside (and outside) is a laid-back coastal experience that's hard to beat. We chose the outdoor seating, and it was absolutely worth it. Overlooking the inlet, we enjoyed a peaceful view of small boats drifting by--one of those simple moments that makes a meal feel like a mini getaway. I went with the crab cake sandwich and fries, while Helen ordered the Cuban with tater tots. As someone from Virginia, I'm usually cautious with crab cakes--too often they're all filler and no flavor--but this one was refreshingly light, packed with crab, and genuinely delicious. One of the best surprises? The hush puppies. We had heard great things but didn't see them on the menu--turns out, they bring them out complimentary when you're seated. And yes, they absolutely live up to the hype. The staff added to the experience with their friendly, welcoming attitude, making us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. There are plenty of places we still want to try in the area, but this one has already earned a return visit.
