My family and I (2 adults and 3 kids) dined in on a Tuesday early evening. We ordered a Square (XL) Meat Lovers pizza. The pizza. The crispy bottom of the pizza is what first stood out to me. I expended a soggier bottom because of the tons of cheese and topping. The crust was not very thick, but not thin, and fluffy. The crust was a little bit greasy, maybe because of the meat juices. The toppings went almost all the way to the bottom edge of crust. The tangy red sauce seemed to take a back seat to the generous cheese and toppings. I think the milky and stringy cheese was just as thick as the crust or more. The toppings were very generous as well. Dining. Nothing fancy about this place. Just some cafeteria tables and chairs. An unexpected fantastic find! I've heard good thing about this place, so I was happy to be able to finally try it. I forget the name of this pizza that I ordered, but my friend and I ate the small size, and it was just right. The pizza was hot, fresh, and had the perfect texture. I was going to give this a one-star review but I just couldn't bring myself to do it. I had a great Philly Cheesesteak with Onions on it but the name of the place is New Wayne PIZZA and the pizza was just horrible. I may have had worse but I can't remember when. They should perhaps just stick to sandwiches. That was the only redeeming thing that prevented the one-star. I ordered what I thought was a large round pepperoni pizza but evidently they only have one size. It had no "crust" edge to speak of (well maybe a little) and just tasted sour. I could barely finish the piece I have. I'm from New York and maybe I'm spoiled but if I hadn't seen them making pizza there I'd have sworn they got it out of a box from the supermarket and thrown it into the oven. I will say it was crisp which is rare but ugh...I still can't get the taste out of my mouth. Sorry but I do not know how this place is getting 5 star reviews. "New" like hell! These folks have been around for over twenty years. Whatever you call them they serve up some tasty food. I'm working just down the street right now so I gave them a try. I try not to review a pizza joint unless I've visited at least twice and that was the case here. They are located just a few feet from the intersection of Lancaster and Wayne Aves. Directly in front of them are a few parking species marked "ten minute pickup parking" with no meters and that's nice. Each time I visited the place was spotless. This is a take-out only family-run place with just a few chairs for sitting while you wait for your order. Day#1 Of course I was going to try the pizza. Its Greek pizza here so all you Italian pizza snobs can stop rolling your eyes and making those funny snorting noises! I ordered two slices with sausage and they made it fresh. They happened to make it from a small pie and when they do that they double your order so I was given four small slices. The crust was cooked perfectly and there was plenty of topping. The cheese was particularly tasty. This is a thin crust pizza joint. My "4" small slices and a 20 oz. soda cost me $8 and change and it was an excellent lunch. Day#2 This time I tried an Italian Grinder. It was fresh and tasty and most importantly hot all the way through. I hate when you order a grinder and they are cold in the middle! The tab was $7.53 and once again an excellent lunch. On each visit I'm betting the Greek lady that cashed me out was the mother of this family. She was excellent and really makes you feel welcome. Whenever I'm back from California I always make it a point to stop in for a pizza steak. My most recent visit came with a couple of surprises- all good- the shop has recently been purchased by new owners, their kids are working alongside long time employees- the Greek family I always used see for decades has moved on. I ordered a slice of pizza from New Wayne this afternoon for lunch. I get back to my work to eat it and low and behold, there is something green on the bottom of my pizza, and it sure ain't the Hulk. I tore that section off, and finished the untainted parts. As a courtesy to them, I gave the store a call and let them know that it appeared there was green, possibly mold, on the bottom of my pizza. "Impossible" says the owner, "our pizza is made fresh. We will give you a free pizza." "Nay," says I, my intentions were to help and inform, not for personal gain. The owner insists on coming to my work to inspect what may or may not be a martian on the bottom of my pizza. The owner arrives ten minutes later, bringing with them a delivery boy, as security in case it got real, I guess, or he was the only one with a car. Little did I know, what the owner was delivering was a whole heaping of attitude. My one inch penicillin sample was passed forth to our purveyor of pizza. The owner inspects the piece and immediately dismisses the green spec as "from the oven." I am then berated for accusing them of having mold on their pizza. "That's a big word to use, MOLD," yells the manager. Three dollars is angrily handed to me, though I never asked for a refund, I appreciate it, but it seems less like a peace offering and more like a way to secretly pass small pox to me. I inspect the bill and decide that the green on the bills is not in fact mold. I can tell the difference. I don't think they can. The main point I am making is that I wasn't upset that there may have been mold on my pizza, I just wanted them to know so they could make sure there wasn't any more. I showed my piece to all my coworkers and they all thought it was mold too but the owner was so dismissive and rude regarding the matter, only looking at it for a second before throwing it in the trash and treating me like I was out of my rights to accuse them of such a thing. Look at my picture I posted and decide for yourself. Price: One slice of pizza (which was actually two small slices) $2.50. It was much smaller than what you imagine when you think of Philly slices and it cost more than some of my favorites in the city. They also charge extra if your order is under $10 and you try to use a card. Quality: Regardless of the green on my pizza, I wasn't impressed, it DID taste like pizza that had been sitting out all day, which is exactly what you get when you order a slice, but the secret the best places in Philly have is that they don't make it taste like that. A colleague recommended this to me. I had tuna salad and onion rings. The tuna salad portion was enough to feed three people. Nice fresh, crisp iceberg lettuce and Ripe, red tomatoes. Then there was the onion rings. So incredibly delicious. Nice amount of breading, super crisp. Only two of the many survived the 3 mile ride home, I ate the rest along the way. Definitely come here. I called an hour and a half in and they told me it was on the way and to call back if we didn't receive in 10min. Waited 30 min to call back since I figured it was a busy Friday night. Called back and they told Me there must have been a mix up. The workers were down right rude, wouldn't let me speak, continued to speak over me each time I would try to explain the situation. Very medium. We vow to try every pizza place in Wayne. I noticed that most of the reviews for pizza places were reviews for salads. What's going on there? I've very confused by this. Our New Wayne Pizza pizza was not something that would stick out in my head. We got a large half cheese, half pepperoni. It was cut funny because the pepperoni half was less than half. I didn't appreciate that. It was cheap, but it was also small. I'm used to 18" pizzas, this was a 14" for a large. New Wayne pizzas are only 60% the size of Conshohocken pizzas. The cheese tasted like not much of anything. There should be more sauce on it. We'll put it back in the rotation at the bottom of the list, but I think we'll find a favorite before we get back to New Wayne Pizza. read more

In the past this place has been great but had a really bad experience recently. They forgot salad dressing, put the wrong meat on my sandwich, which was soggy with wilted lettuce. The meal was not edible and I actually had to throw it away. On top of that the salads have black olives with pits (which messed up my tooth). They also advertise platters to come with salads and then told us we couldn't have the side salad that we ordered with the platter. read more

Deliveries take an hour plus and I live down the street and could walk there in 3-5 minutes and to top it off my order is always wrong. I just started working across the street from this place, I tried it for the first time this past tuesday and got the hummus pita sandwich. The sandwich was very tasty. While I was there, the one guy kept bragging about their greek salad how it is the "Best Greek Salad in the world!" he told me he would buy my lunches for me there for life if I didnt think their greek salad was the best. Well today I went and got the greek salad, which I am eating right now. and not only is it NOT the best, I wouldnt even consider it good. It is sub-par. On a scale of 1-10, I would give it a 4. I have had many other greek salads at many other places that are way better. And there was a small black hair in it.
