I go to a lot of coffee shops and it is hard to find a barista who knows how to make a proper latte or flat white. But they know how to do it here. My experience at New Wave has been great. Perfectly foamed milk with a nice latte art on top. I also love there turkey sandwiches. The Publican sour dough bread they use really makes the sandwhich. This is quickly becoming my go-to for morning coffee in Logan Square. A nice spot to sit and warm up or hang out with a laptop.

Good old favorite Logan Square coffee shop where the coffee is more like an afterthought. It's big, spacious, and brings in a diverse group. New Wave is a great place for doing work. Always plenty of room and outlets for laptops and devices. The coffee itself is about the least interesting thing about it. A coffee shop is more than about coffee. It's also about the comfort and feel. This is such a place that has these. For sure the coffee isn't the best around but it's not bad. Serious, it can even be pretty good, but it seems people care more about the coffee shop itself than the coffee products. It's about $3.50 a cup. There's oat milk and raw sugar you can pour in yourself. A nice touch. Get however much you want instead of a barista giving a dribble of milk or whatever. Almost no food, but about $1 for apples. There's also a few pastries like donuts and muffins. Chill place to get stuff finished. It has plenty of outlets. The furniture is worn out but comfortable, though I wouldn't sleep on these things.

Came during the farmers market and waited in line for 15 mins to order and another 6 mins to get the drinks. Very busy coffee shop. Service was good. Coffee was ok. The cortado was finished beautifully even though there were so many orders (really appreciated the baristas' attention to detail) and tasted smooth but we didn't like the espresso base that tasted a bit over-extracted. The cold brew was nothing special and on the lighter taste side.

Came here to pick up coffee during the farmers market. Got an iced coffee with almond milk and honestly it was just OK. They make you get the larger size if u want iced coffee and they charge for alternative milk. This was $5.26 which to me wasn't worth it. Overall pretty mid.

A bit disappointed in this one. They need to update all media. The no longer sell sandwiches. They did have donuts and bagels. I ordered a vanilla latte. It was okay, but I couldn't really taste the vanilla. I would stop for a coffee when in the area, but that's about it. Nothing to write home about.

Roasted: highly disappointing. I can get over the decor and the coffee shop not being clean - those things I can forgive but what I can't forgive is bad coffee. The latte I ordered (which they did have sugar free options) was not drinkable. The espresso was horrible - it was extremely tart and sour - my guess is it was wildly under extracted causing it to ruin the latte. I can't remember the last time I was unable to even drink a latte I ordered. The sign by the bar said today's espresso was dollap - which I've had before and enjoyed. Beautiful latte art and for here mugs gives this a 2 Star. Unfortunately this will not be a place I return. Unroasted: this place reminds me of walking in to your friends basement apartment unannounced. It's has cheap linoleum old side of the road furniture. It's dingy grudge and sells coffee. I ordered my usual latte and received it in a mug with fantastic art! The staff was friendly and plenty of seating. Now the bad my coffee was not good at all. Undrinkable! One of the worst I've had. I have no idea how it got so bad but no thanks. I swear I was drinking the bottom of a vanilla mcd milkshake. Sorry new wave no amount of sugar can help me drink this.

The shop is sparsely decorated but seems to be a real staple in the community, which felt special to visit as an outsider. My friend and I both ordered egg and goat cheese bagel sandwiches. I ordered an iced lavender matcha and my friend ordered a cappuccino. The sandwiches were made with boiled eggs, which felt extremely odd. The egg type was not clarified on the menu, but I feel like for a breakfast sandwich to include a boiled egg instead of a traditional fried or scrambled egg, that should be disclosed to customers with some sort of expectations. My friend said the cappuccino was "just like every other cappuccino I've ever had." The lavender matcha really just tasted like a regular matcha. It was good but not much lavender flavor! Our food also took a bit to come out, despite the coffee shop being empty (only one other person already dining when we came in) and what we ordered. It looked like there were only two workers. I personally wouldn't visit Sipping Turtle Cafe again, unfortunately. There are a lot of other great options around that satisfy me more.

Even though we were out of town, we were immediately invited to a small event they were having the next day and asked about our days in a manner that reflected genuine interest. I wish this could be my local coffee shop, you're so lucky if this is! Their unique offering was a wonderful selection of coffee and a delicious array of Colombian pastries. We ordered an empanada, a churro donut, almojabana, and the pan de bono. I'm vegetarian so I was very happy to see such a wide number of options for me! The churro donut was delicious and cinnamony - if you like sweet breakfasts, definitely get this! I really enjoyed the almojabana and the pan de bono. I liked the pan de bono so much, I even took a picture of the crumb to share with my mother, who is Colombian! Truly, I could have eaten 5 of the pan de bono because they tasted just like the homemade one's my abuela would make when she visited.

I haven't tried their breakfast sandwich, because I'm not a big pork sausage person-- would love if they had more variations of a breakfast sandwich! You can also order a toasted english muffin that comes with fresh butter and a homemade jam.. it's so simple but addicting. I have had their Lox English Muffin a couple of times, and if you love Lox, it's GREAT. Really good balance of cream cheese/veggie/lox ratio.. though Lox is always so overpowering so it's most of what you're going to taste. If you are a quiche person, PLEASE try theirs. The creativity in their rotating flavors, and their perfect crust, are a must-try. It's soooo well done. Every pastry I've tried has been spectacular, from their almond blackberry croissant to the pistachio escargot, to their donuts.. I don't think you can go wrong. Their cinnamon roll is next on my list.. but I need to try it when I'm with 2-3 other people because it is GINORMOUS. I don't trust that I wouldn't eat the whole thing by myself. Their coffee is good, but there's nothing special to me about it! I come here for their fresh pastries and eats. They have free wifi and it's fairly quiet, so a good place to knock out some work or have a good conversation with a friend. It's neat, clean, and bright with a good amount of seating. This place is right next to my therapy office, so I frequent it a couple of times a month, and I have always felt welcomed and cared for by their employees. I toasted them and they held up really well after I layered them guacamole, pan-seared German bologna, cheesy-potato omelette, and Sriracha aioli. I am thrilled to try other sandwich variations with these English muffins. Another pro is that they offer Sparrow Coffee. My husband and I are both fans.
