    New Moon has more than just dim sum. They also have fried rice, chow mein by the pound and fried chicken. I like this restaurant because the food is decent and there isn't a long line like some other over-hyped dim sum restaurant on Stockton St. The Chinese donut, fried chicken and porridge tasted fine. Service was fast. Good job staff at New Moon.

    We did a egg tart tour of Chinatown buying tarts from 6 shops and taste tested them to find our favorite. The egg tarts from New Moon was the 2nd place choice of our 4 taste testers. This one was a bit messy and sort of crumbled apart. The custard was a good flavor. Follow me to find out what tarts were our favorite.

    I was very hungry, so my eyes were bigger than mine stomach. I ordered a bunch of dim sum, it tasted ok to me. I'm not sure if the texture of the food was right or the taste was on point. It felt a bit off to me. However, the lady selling seem nice and friendly, so the 3 stars is for her, not the food.

    Dumplings are on point!!!! So good - we got the beef and chicken foot dishes also to try - pretty good!! But the dumplings are the best - if you want dumplings just order those and don't fill up on other stuff!!! Second time there are very tasty. Only one customer allowed on the store at one time - good covid protocols!!!

    A pretty okay spot in china town, I feel it would be appreciated more if it wasn't surrounded by such quality restaurants. It's your average hole in the wall location. However, it does have its own charm to it. The dim sum is what makes me suggest you come here at least once. Had I just picked up some food and headed out, the dim sum itself would get a higher score. The service was okay, I wouldn't say it was welcoming or even too accommodating. There are a couple tables available but they quickly fill up. Overall, I think you should give it a shot but be aware of the small location. Perhaps order it to go.

    I was in Chinatown planning to get some dim sum for lunch from the Good Mong Kok bakery, but for some reason, there is a long line out in front. That place is always crowded but I'd never seen such a long 20 people strong line before. The stuff there is good with the most variety but seriously nothing is worth that kind of wait. So remembered this place, just a couple of blocks north at corner of Broadway, another similar bakery I'd been to many times before. Here it's busy but no ridiculous lines. Granted the dim sum variety here is a bit less than Mong Kok, but of what they do have the quality and price is perfectly competitive - most items at about $2.20 for three pieces. Anyway they have my favorites, which are the round rice flour chives and shrimp dumplings, the white spongy fermented rice cakes, and the deep fried sesame coated glutinous rice flour balls with bean paste filling. Can't go wrong with this place if you are looking for a quick and cheap lunch with no wait.

    Roast duck, steamed chicken, char siu, tripe stew.... But instead I went for the roasted pork head. Crispy skin, fatty meat, all sorts of tastiness. And you know what, a WHOPPING 75 cents. You can't even buy a Whopper for 75 cents. I'll take the pig head thank you. Oh and learn some Cantonese. Lei Hao leng!

    A friend told me about this deli/restaurant and touted their ox tail stew as a better one. While walking to work after a stop at Walgreen's, I came in and ordered a pound and a half to take home for dinner on a recent Monday (). After a late dinner plan change, I ended up cooking sukiyaki in the Inner Sunset. Remembering my morning purchase, I gnawed on a piece when I got home to "try while fresh". Sadly, the meat clung firmly to the bone. A few days later, this proved me wise as the remaining ox tail, carrots, and sauce simmered in a pot for another hour. My criticisms are the sauce is cloyingly sweet (mixture of sugar and five spice flavors) and the butcher did not use a sharp knife in chopping (numerous bone fragments). Apparently, the price rose recently to $7.50 per lb., on a par with some premium cuts of beef. My favorites for ox tail are still Pacific Court in Chinatown but it's only available Mondays and Fridays. Perhaps their other offerings are better... hopefully.

    I come here to get the duck feet - they are flavorful and soft, perfect for my soup rice noodle with tender greens. Sometimes I would get their other deli items but for whatever reasons, they don't go bad very quickly even if you don't touch it and have it in the fridge. We had lunch here couple weeks ago - as you see from the pics, we had the mixed beef tripe soup fun and stir fried thick rice noodle with shredded duck. The soup fun was good - the mixed tripe was flavorful and delicious. Besides the stomach, tongue and spleen. The stir fried dish wasn't as good - the fat rice noodle is not what we expected and the duck did not taste like duck.

We ordered a bunch of dishes to share, and several really stood out. The spicy tendon was fantastic, shredded paper thin and swimming in a classic spicy sauce. The spicy lamb dumplings were another highlight, with an incredibly thin wrapper and a super flavorful and not gamey at all lamb filling. I also loved the stir fried rice cakes, which were sliced thin enough to avoid that overly chewy texture, and the stir fried noodles Shanghai style were classic and simple in the best way, with big chunks of cabbage and meat and just executed really (the chefs clearly have some serious wok skills!). Not everything we ordered was an absolute knockout as the vegetable dishes could use a bit more flavor and seasoning, but everything overall was good, and the portions across the board were very generous. The desserts were a last-minute decision and I am so glad we went for them. The lava custard buns were fluffy and amazing, with a molten salted egg custard inside, and the sesame balls had a satisfyingly crispy exterior that gave way to a perfectly chewy interior and sweet red bean filling. The value here is also excellent. We left absolutely stuffed and spent around $30 per person, which felt like a great deal for how much food we got and how much we enjoyed it. Highly recommend!

Bao is warm and woody and serene on the inside, a great counterpoint to the bustle of Valencia at every hour. Upon entering there is a large window looking on to the kitchen prep area where culinary experts are often at work constructing the food diners later enjoy on their plates. Tonight a couple of wizards were in the process of making chicken potstickers. Even being vegetarian, just seeing how the dumplings and other items are made is like seeing secrets being shared. I love it and it sets the vibe for the restaurant. My order consisted of the steamed vegetarian buns and sautéed string beans. The buns come out beautifully presented and taste even better: the bun itself is just slightly sweet and that sweetness adds an amazing dimension to the chopped fresh vegetables inside. Can't tell you what any of these veggies are individually and I don't care, they are so good. Next came the sautéed string beans and the sear on the beans themselves was perfect and smoky and delicious. The crispness of the sautee makes the string beans a lovely pairing with the soft yummy of the steamed buns. Last came the sesame balls as a sweet meal ending. I love donuts and fresh-made sesame balls are similar to a donut hole just with a filling that is actually food and so sweetly tasty. The outer fry was crisp and the insides absolutely perfect. Three dishes, all fantastic, and I walk home happy and thankful to Bao for a great simple meal!

But they held up the next day so I was able to stretch 2 meals out of them. I can't comment on service since these bags are only for pick up. But they quickly provide the bags once the window open. And it's a small space, with maybe 2 tables. So this place is probably best for to-go orders. Their 2g2g bags have more variety than their Chinatown location. Not sure how many dim sum options there are in the Mission, but I would go here if I was in the area and craving a shrimp and chive dumpling.
