Unacceptable to have the orders mixed up. Could be bad for people with dietary restrictions or allergies. Ordered the chicken with black bean sauce and got pork instead! Had to give it to someone else in the family. We came here for a quick to go order and ordered from their lunch menu, while it's great they have brown rice for option, that was an unacceptable mixed up for me. I took a bite and had to spit it out. read more

New Jin Lin - Ordered chicken with black beans sauce and got pork instead! - Chinese Near Me - Montclair, New Jersey

Food is consistently yummy and very well priced. Our Chinese go to for sure!!! 10000/10

Haven't ordered from here in a bit. So decided to try it today. I got sweet and sour chicken lunch menu. Really liked the sauce, it was good. Got the boneless spare ribs for my daughter to eat after her class. She found a really long black hair in it. Considering my hair is short and brown and her hair is red and really short, definitely not ours. read more

Ordered via Grubhub as I was in the mood for some cheap Chinese. Four dishes ended costing $45 with tax, delivery and tip. All very efficient and tasted yummy. Good local Chinese spot with decent prices. read more

Great great Chinese food! They never disappoint. The lady at the front is so pleasant and always greets us with a smile. The flavors are on point. A tad bit pricey, no sit down area and parking is tough, but otherwise definitely worth a try. Would share a pic but I've already guided down my yummy shrimp & broccoli with brown rice :) read more

Great takeout and delivery Oriental joint that provides serious Chinese cuisine. Every time I have ordered takeout delivery there. They have been very consistent with the order and how flavorful their ingredients and quality of the food or dish has been. That I had the pleasure in devouring for my consumption. And I must add as well it was very tasty too. Well since I'm the eyes of the beholder and definitely the tasty taster I will admit that I really enjoy their stir fried foods. Well checkout New Jin Lin if you haven't already. I haven't been in their place of business. Just been a take-outer. Coolness. Food Service Ambiance read more

Hair in general tso chicken...buyer beware. Staff were very rude when issue was arisen.

Was craving Chinese and wanted to try something different than my normal new kitchen in Cedar Grove. I was looking through the menu and also wanted something that I normally don't get and this time I ordered kung pao chicken. I definitely was not disappointed the food was ordered and arrived in a perfect time and the food was very delicious perfect flavoring just the right amount of peanuts and the chicken was perfect. I also ordered a small wonton soup and the wontons were divine. Will definitely be ordering from here again read more

I've been coming here since I was a child. They have never disappointed me! Food is always good, service is always fast and friendly!

Until today I was a regular customer. Food is good but inconsistent, SERVICE IS HORRIBLE. Delivery minimum is $10 (stated on their website) and I never had an issue with that until today. I called to place an order for delivery and was told after providing my address that it would be a $20 minimum because of the distance. My address is 10 mins away from the restaurant, which I doubt anyone decided to look up before trying to overcharge me. I then tried to place my order online through their website which I usually do and my order was cancelled 15 mins later because of "distance". I called the restaurant again and asked to speak with a manager several times and was told she "doesn't know when he comes in". Her attitude was very nasty and dismissive, and I'm almost sure she's the one who cancelled my order. So don't waste your time, there's much better Chinese food in the area that's consistently good quality with MUCH better service :) read more

We've been trying to find a new go-to for Chinese take out ever since our favorite place closed a few years ago. Most of the local options (even the ones everyone raves about) are either bland or too expensive or just "eh". We heard about this place and gave it a try. Everything was very good. It's exactly what you're looking for when it comes to Chinese take out. Especial notes - the scallion pancakes were excellent (not everywhere has them, and they're not always great) and the Gen Tso's Chicken was good, with a little crisp in the chicken but not dry like some more $$ places. Steamed dumplings, egg roll, fried rice, lo mein - everything was really good. We will definitely be ordering from here again. read more

Classic east coast Chinese. Top 3 places of Montclair since the other ones don't deliver. This delivers and fast.

Ordered food delivery from here. My food came within promised time and the driver called from the cell phone as he was approaching my house which was nice. Food came exactly as I ordered it, packed nicely and was hot. Everything tasted as I expected. I was satisfied and will order from them again. read more

Hopefully, this will act as constructive criticism, as the staff is so nice but their food is so subpar. Shrimp and Lobster sauce was basically shrimp in egg water. Spare ribs were not terrible but we've had much much better. General Tso's shrimp were yellow and needed doctoring for flavor. Moo shu chicken was 99% cabbage. Shrimp toast wasn't bad but quite greasy. The standout however were the shrimp dumplings. they were awesome. If we could combine our 3-4 favorite dishes from 3-4 different places you'd have one heck of a chinese restaurant. read more

This place is awesome. I've ordered their general tso chicken several times on GrubHub and it has not failed me yet. I'm from Brooklyn where some of the best Chinese food can be found so I'm so glad to find a place out here in NJ that can stand up to my standards. read more

The price is amazing an the quality of food is excellent. I live in Verona and there is at least five other restaurants closer to this place and I go here every time I can. The chicken and broccoli is awesome. The sauce is a brownish red color just the way I like it The shrimp friend rice actually has shrimp in it. They make my husbands boneless spare ribs just the way he likes them. Not too much fat and VERY WELL DONE. When I call they already know for my house my hubby likes his ribs well done! Other items I have ordered are the fried shrimp (amazing), shrimp rolls, chicken chow mein, moo goo gai pan, and General Tso's chicken. Everything always comes right on point. Delivery time is reasonable. I always tip! They are coming from Montclair to Verona and tonight got my food here in approx 30 minutes read more

Fresh, hot, delicious, and on time!! A great place with great staff! A real neighborhood 'find'!!

When I first ordered from the restaurant they left half of our order behind and had to go back and get it. I give them one star for that effort. The next night we ordered from them again. An order of chicken egg foo young and house egg foo yong. They both looked like regular egg foo yong. The meat was literally diced into small tiny pieces and you had to "eat it," (as the lady described on the phone when we called to complain.) My experience with egg foo yong, especially house egg foo yong is that as soon as you see it, you can see the shrimp and the pork and the chicken without having to dissect your meal. For the prices they change, I expected more. I will never order from them again. read more

Great Chinese food! I've been ordering from there for over 5 years. Very nice staff and they deliver very quickly.

My order was wrong and when I tried to especially to them they told me they don't care. Bad customer service and food was awful. I don't recommended this place. With that kind of attitude god knows how they cook their food if they don't care. read more

Something happened...used to be my fav. Ordered scllion pancakes, they were saturated in oil! Terrible! Gen tso's chicken, dry as a bone. Threw all away!! New owners? Owners on vacation? Who knows. That was my last order from them. Simply awful!! read more

Had a jones for Chinese last night, so called our always-reliable, long-term Chinese restaurant, Hunan House, in the basement of the A&P on Valley Road in Upper Montclair. Called the usual phone number and a young man answered. I said I's like to place an order for delivery and he asked whether I was calling Hunan House. Duh, yeah. He explained that Hunan House was his uncle's place and is now closed for business. His uncle transferred the phone number to him, but the young man promised expedited service. So I figured, OK, we'll give it a try. How bad could it be? I ordered the usual, including Hot and Sour and Moo Goo Gai Pan. He said they were on Bloomfield Avenue, but I'd have it in 35 minutes. OK, it was closer to 45 min, but Upper Montclair can remain a permanent mystery to downtowners, so we wait. The Hot and Sour soup was quite nice: not too vinegary, and had some carrots which gave it a little surprising edge. Very nice, and lots of fresh mushrooms. But the mushrooms were the problem with the MGGP. It was almost all mushrooms and no bok choi or any other crunchy veg and very slim on the bean pods. Sooo disappointing and not to our standards or taste. With the soup, they delivered bags of those crummy hard noodles, not the freshly-fried mai fun we have become used to. Mysteriously included with the delivery were two cans of Pepsi. Huh? I later learned, from reviewing the menu, that Jin Lin includes two sodas (or egg rolls) with every order of $20 or more. But, since we don't drink anything with high fructose corn syrup, these two cans of Pepsi are now in service as paper weights. It would have been nice to have been told that soda was included and asked what kind I'd like. This was all bad enough, but the experience was completely ruined when I discovered that NO FORTUNE COOKIES were in the delivery bag! This was dark and disturbing and bespeaks a complete lack of interest by Mr. Jin (or is it Mr. Lin?) in helping us to prepare for our futures ("Your chance of winning Powerball are nil. Spend the money instead on cigarettes or rum.") read more

I ordered from New Jin Lin for the first time and the food was ok. I had the Chicken and Broccoli and it was doused in sauce. The delivery on the other hand was AWFUL. The driver called and said he was "outside". I thought it was strange that he didn't come up to the door so I had to put on my shoes and jacket go outside and meet him. As I'm putting on my shoes, he starts to honk frantically in my apartment parking lot, alarming all of my neighbors. When I asked him why he didn't come to the door, I could not understand his response. Needless to say, not the best delivery experience. read more

Serviceable New Jersey take out/delivery Chinese American food on the cheap. Delivery is fast and food is delivered hot! The last delivery on a very cold and rainy day was so appreciated! Nastiest Chinese food I've ever had!!! Food was bland and tasteless. Service even worse. I was rushed while ordering over the phone and before I could pay for my meal she hung up on me. I called back and gave her my card # and she said "ok 30 minutes" and hung up again (not even acknowledging that she hung up on me earlier). Delivery guy arrives and I sign the credit card slip. He glances down at it and shakes his head-I assume he realized I didn't leave a tip. For what?! To top it all off, it wasn't even what I ordered. read more

Family owned business. Delicious authentic Chinese food for many years in Montclair. I'm a regular.

Been a customer at this restaurant for over 20 years usually the food is good services decent sometimes they get my order wrong tho. Call to tell them that my food that was normally spicy was extremely spicy to the point where I couldn't eat it and asked if they could just exchange it and the boss told me that if I bring it back Then I can't order any more food because I've had too many complaints. His attitude was unnecessarily very nasty.. I explained to him I've been coming there for over 20 years and you guys have consistently got my order wrong and I have always been patient waiting for you guys as well. still giving tips etc...After this disrespect. I am done with them and just because He did that I think I will bring back the food and get my money back and not go there again. My friends and family either. too many nice spots in the area to be dealing with that type of poor customer service, after being a good loyal customer for so many years. Very Disappointing!! read more

Pretty decent food, easy to find, difficult to park close. The guy gave me a free can of ice tea because my order was over $12 which was nice of him. I'd go back. read more

Ordered chow fun house special and egg rolls. Egg rolls where ok but the chow fun had only three small shrimp & four small bite size pieces of pork & three pieces of chicken. Mainly the dish is noodles. I basically paid 9.95 for noodles. I would tell you try at your own risk. I will not order again. On an other note I originally called Hunan House but there phone number goes to this place now. I was thinking they must have moved. I would really doubt that this restaurant is run by the same people. It's time for me to find a new Chinese takeout place. read more

So now I tried their dumplings and General Tso Chicken from their lunch special :) liked the dumplings, their dumplings sauce is pretty good too. The General Tso chicken was good but id prefer it a little less sweet. Free egg roll as good as usual. The delivery guy nice and smiling. Prices? Very affordable. Great option if you are at home feeling too lazy to cook read more

I don't know what happened but this restaurant used to be my favorite place to eat. Well not anymore!!!! The rice tasted like play doo. I'm not even lying and the texture was very sticky. The chicken and broccoli was extremely salty and cold. It looked liked it was frozen and they just warmed it up in a microwave. The container itself was hot but what was inside wasn't. The following week I placed an order again and no change. I got the same play doo rice, cold chicken and broccoli. I'm highly disappointed. The delivery guy was really rude and disrespectful. He kept calling my phone when I said I was coming. I was literally coming down the stairs. He yelled and said he waited for twenty minutes then drove off. I don't recommend. read more

Don't order delivery, very poor service/follow up: Things I didn't like: - My order was not what I wanted, explicitly stated being a vegetarian. - Delivery time was over an hour. - Afterwards called back to tell them about the meat, the guy told me straight up that fried rice always has pork. I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

They served my dad plastic rice!!! This is disgusting and unethical. I'm appalled at this establishment. I really am. AND ONCE AGAIN, they got my order wrong!!!! Extremely wrong. I don't know if they're hard of hearing or do this on purpose but they're horrible at listening. I ordered steam pork dumplings and come to find I found that they gave me some cabbage dumplings. Why would I ever want cabbage dumplings??????? I called them back and told them they got my order wrong but the man insisted that I told him steamed cabbage dumplings. And when I order I make sure you repeat the order in many different ways so you won't get it wrong. But they still got it wrong. I won't be coming here again. I'm sick of this place. Literally every time I come and provide them my money, they have NO regard of correctly providing what I ask. Never coming back. read more
