We had some yard work done by New Image. The work started at the beginning of October, 2016 and was done over a period of three weeks. After making the full payment, I contact the owner over the following concerns. 1.  I was charged for 5 redwood planters, only 3 were built.  2.  I was charged for 10 15-gallon plants, only 3 were planted 3. They did not fix two loose blocks The owner showed up in person and, by mid-April 2017, had responsibly taken care all of my concerns: For the two missing redwood planters they built a support for my grape vine. For the missing plants they planted 27 lavender plants They secured the loose blocks The dragged-out timeline for the project is a bit draining for me. However, New Image gets 4 stars from me - because the owner, who built the business from scratch, still keeps an old fashioned sense of honor. When promises regarding date/work were not kept, it genuinely bothers him and he tried his best to respond to concerns in person. This is a quality that should not be taken for granted. read more

We could not be happier! My company has acquired a really big commercial property. The property is surrounded by grass and trees covered hills. Inside the property there are  different  gardens.    We had to let the old company go since they just could not handle our property  and were also way over priced. This place is a joke. They totally wasted my time and I have no doubt they will waste yours too. I contacted them about landscaping my front yard and asked that they send John out. They said they would but John didn't show up. Another guy did who could not give me a quote. I said I wanted a visual depiction of his suggestions. He said he would give me the name of someone who would do a design for me. He never did. So I called again, got the guy's name and for $500 he did the design. 7/20/2016: I called to make an initial appointment for an estimate. I told the woman who answered that I wanted 60 sprinkler bodies replaced, because the sprinkler heads were not popping up high enough and were blocked by the tall grass. She didn't seem to be writing down my information as she asked, "How many sprinklers do you need replaced? 100?" I said, "No, about 60". I got an appointment for 7/27 at 9 AM. (Strike 1) 7/26/2016: They called me back at 3:40 PM (a day before the appointment) and asked me to push back the 9 AM appointment to 10 AM. I said that wouldn't work for me as I had to go to work by then, and we rescheduled for 8/5 at 8 AM. (Strike 2) 8/5/2016: I waited at home at 8 AM sharp for the appointment. An hour went by, no one showed, no one called. At 9:06 AM I called them to ask what happened. The woman apologized and said she'll call her estimator and call me back. 10:05 AM: Still no one showed up, no call with an update. I called them back, same lady answered and apologized again that she hadn't heard back from the estimator. I told her that this was really bad customer service, and cancelled my appointment. She apologized again. (Strike 3, and you're out!) Conclusion: 2+ hours of my time wasted. I read some of the negative Yelp reviews about this place missing appointments and being hours late, and thought maybe they were a fluke. But I had that same problem with this company. Not sure why there are so many 5-star reviews for this place, but I certainly didn't get 5-star service. More like 0-star service. You can apologize as much as you want, but that doesn't count as good customer service. Actions speak louder than words. read more

John came to look at my backyard project, measured and gave his opinion of how to landscape yard along with my ideas. I was excited about having the job done and he said I would have estimate in one week. I called after a week and he said he was busy and it would be another week. Another week passed and I again called and he said he was so busy and lied and said he never told me when he would give me estimate I asked if job was too small and he said no, but never sent me or delivered an estimate. It was almost a month and he never called nor did I. I had many other estimates and I never waited over a day or so. John was rude and arrogant and I would never ever refer New Image to anyone. He was the worst person I have ever dealt with. Also the company itself never returned my first phone for over 3 weeks. Don't ever call them. The above review was intended for another man named John from FormLA. I made a drastic mistake thinking it was New Image. John from New Image was great. Another example of how the "yelp filter" might make you miss a great business. My search criteria was simple. Located in or near Pasadena. Able to quote same day. Licensed contractor. And some 5 star reviews.... Well I saw one, then I checked the filter...8 five star reviews chilling in the filter with great person experiences. My wife and I bought a house about 5 months ago. I thought that I would save some money on a "mow and blow" service by buying my own lawn mower, blower, and hedger. I've been almost weekly doing my own service and just like the dog's hair cut ....it looks like it. Anyway, I was fine with having a mediocre yard and spending 1-3 hours per week doing it, UNTIL....the mower broke. 3 weeks later and I still had no time to return to Sears. Having plenty of other to do things on the property, I thought I better call a Landscaper rather than just a gardener or junk removal place. Fortunately, they actually do landscaping, removal, maintenance and sprinklers. I called New Image Landscaping. They were able to get John out to estimate the job same day and I only had about 3 hours before I had to go to work. My appointment was 1:30 and he arrived at 1:25. In less than 10 minutes we did a walk of the property. He know just what to do, he asked questions to the point and agreed to mow the front, back, trim all the ivy, trim all the bushes on the property (there must be 50 that are planted and over grown), trim the front plum tree that was entangled in the wires to the house and growing way too high, clean all the weeds out of the rock wall, make a dead grass area back into dirt, clear fallen yacca plants, clip bamboo and many more things I can't remember. He said he would be back with two guys on Thursday morning (two days later and the day I requested) at 7:30 a.m. and it would be done by the middle of the day. Thursday morning at 7:41 a.m. my wife says to me, I think the gardeners are here as we awoke from our slumber. I walk out the front door to about 8-10 guys, three professional trucks, and John looking sharp and in charge. He smiles at me and says, I had a big job later today so I thought I'd bring more guys, they should be done in about an hour or two. I looked out to what was already a NEW YARD!!! The front looked nothing like it did before even when we first moved in. As I walked around, I was amazed at the skill level of the guys working and their speed. I watched a guy go up to a fancy grass clump that was over grown and in 20-30 secs he had pruned the whole thing and it looked like new. They even took care of two small palms that were not discussed in the bid on my request and it only took them about ten minutes to clean them. Literally by 9:30 a.m. they were done and they hauled the debris away. They even helped me move a heavy table on the property without a hesitation. What I can say about New Image is they are on time, quick, professional, attention to detail, friendly, Pasadena and Altadena local (although I heard they actually service Santa Monica and other areas of the westside too). Clean vehicles, clean staff, and overall clean operation. John returned my email in 20 minutes and his bid was quick and reasonable. I wish that I had experienced the positive outcome that so many others have written about but unfortunately that was not the case. It started out well, when they sent Larry to review my property he pointed out several things that should be corrected and he was extremely knowledgeable about the types of plants I had and how to properly care for them. We went over what was included in the maintenance of the yard as well as cost for weekly maintenance. I felt that I was in good hands. But that's where it ended. Although I had discussed several important items to be addressed with Larry and sent follow up emails to the company to remind them of it, I had to contact the owner when after 2 weeks, they had still not been addressed. During the time that New Image managed my property, the weeds in my yard were not being pulled and overall it was in worse condition than when they started. When I contacted them to cancel the contract, they told me that they would see about getting it cancelled for me as soon as possible. Then the communication stopped. I followed up 3-4 times and stopped trying after that. I have never worked with a more non communicative, unprofessional company before and I hope this saves someone else the headache. read more

After the huge wind storm in Pasadena on Nov. 30th, 2011, four of our trees were severely damaged. I emailed New Image Landscaping for an estimate and they contacted me within 24 hours. I verified their license, bond and worker's compensation coverage at the Cal. State License Board website, so I felt confident using their services. The crew arrived with all the proper equipment and did an admirable job trimming and shaping our avocado and palm tree, then moved on to the heavy work of removing a huge pine and eucalyptus tree that were too damaged to save. They hauled off the tree trunks and chipped the branches, cleaning the yard of all debris before they left. I'm impressed with the professional workmanship of their employees, and plan to hire them back next year to shape our grove of fruit trees. read more

My husband and I hired New Image Landscaping & Tree Service, Inc. to landscape our backyard. We spent weeks getting estimates and contacting various companies. New Image Landscaping was far more responsive and helpful than any of the other companies we contacted. After initially contacting New Image, a free in person estimate was provided the following day. I was impressed when the owner, John Lampasona Jr., showed up himself to do the estimate and explain the process. My husband and I have a toddler and dogs, so we wanted a backyard that was safe and enjoyable for our family while still being easy to maintain and affordable to landscape. Mr. Lampasona offered solutions to our current landscaping needs. As a young family, we operate on a very tight budget. Some of the landscapers I spoke to were condescending and quoted prices that were completely out of our price range. Fortunately, Mr. Lampasona offered solutions and worked within our budget. His whole team was helpful, skilled, and efficient. They showed up on time (6:30 a.m. daily) and did not leave until they were finished. I was shocked at the progress every time I looked out the window. During our project, New Image encountered several unforeseen challenges. Our yard had two gas leaks and no electricity in the garage. Instead of charging us more or making excuses about when the project would be completed, John fixed both problems and did NOT charge us a penny over what he had originally quoted. John's crew worked diligently for three day straight, creating the most beautiful backyard we could imagine. Instead of having a yard full of weeds, dirt, and thorns...we now have a gorgeous backyard with a perfectly installed irrigation system, fresh grass, side hedges, and most importantly a place that feels like a little sanctuary for our family to enjoy together. First, let's get the small negative out of the way. I setup an appointment with New Image Landscaping to show up and give me a quote on fixing my home's balky sprinkler system. Not only did John (I think this was his name, I lost my notepad where I had written it down) not show up on time (2pm), I received a phone call 30 minutes later for him to get an idea of what kind of work I needed, so that he could provide a rough estimation of the labor costs. I had taken leave to be home when he arrived, so I was a bit irked and wary at this, but he promised that Isaiah would show up later that day at 4pm. I agreed to their labor rates and Isaiah then showed up at 4:15. So, just on timeliness alone, I was tempted to knock off a star, but let's move on to the positives. Isaiah arrived, and I showed him around the installed sprinkler system and told him that there were some issues here and there that I wanted him to check out to make the system run better. He began working on the first issue when he noticed water flowing out of my lawn, which he immediately identified as a broken sprinkler pipe. He walked around the lawn, jumping in a few places, and was able to precisely identify the patch where the broken pipe was buried. He dug it up and repaired the pipe, which wasn't easy since the cheap pipe that the previous owner had laid kept snapping as he cut the section to repair. Following that fix, he went around and repaired a few actuators, patiently explaining the parts and what he was doing as I hovered over him and asked questions. Isaiah's willingness to instruct me in sprinkler repairs was in extreme contrast to the previous sprinkler repairmen that I had hired to do what I hired New Image to do. He was a curmudgeonly guy who blatantly asked me if I was trying to steal his livelihood. I understand his point of view, which is why I appreciate Isaiah's help so much. He showed me how to fix a number of problems that a homeowner would experience with sprinklers. A day or two later, I received an invoice from New Image Landscaping. I felt like it was a very fair price for the parts and labor and I was able to save $30 using a Yelp coupon as well! Minus the minor stumbles at the beginning with scheduling, I was thrilled with the service I received from New Image, and I would fully recommend them to anyone looking for sprinkler assistance! read more

There was one mistake that was made- some expensive birdseed was thrown away. However, when I brought this to his attention, John quickly did what he could to give us a solution that we were happy with. The windstorm of 2011 left our yard, trees, and plants a disaster. John came to the rescue with the best quote and the best quality. Thanks to the vision and help of John at New Image our dream backyard has come true, and they will even maintain it for us because they do weekly gardening! We got a sprinkler system, hedges, a garden, fake grass (that looks like real grass without the maintenance), and many landscaping design touches. The biggest project though, the seemingly insurmountable oak tree is gone. **Edited 8/13/13** I am editing my original review to reflect the fact that the owner has gone out of his way to make sure the job was done to my satisfaction. John, the owner came to my house for the original estimate to fix my sprinkler system/timer which had completely broken down. He quickly figured out the problem and recommended a new Rainbird controller. The work was done efficiently and neatly and the new equipment works great. My original problem was that the instructions were missing, so I couldn't figure out how to use it and it wasn't doing what I wanted it to do. I was also about to leave for a long trip. Because of vacations on both sides, it took a little while to connect with John. But once that happened he was back the next day. He went through the programs and the instructions with me and reprogrammed the timer. He also showed me a simpler program to accomplish what I needed. While he was at it, John discovered a set-up glitch which made programming more complicated than necessary. Within a few hours, a truck pulled up and a technician came and took care of it. Based on the quick response I would use this service again and would recommend it to others. I am giving 5 stars because even though there was a problem, the effort on the part of the owner to resolve it was impressive.
