I wanted to have my hillside landscaped and called about eight different landscapers to provide quotes. All eight promised to provide quotes within 24-48 hours. Of the eight only two actually sent me the quotes as promised. New Image was one of them. I appreciated the fact that leading up to my appointment, they called a couple of times to confirm and sent an email. John also called the day of to say he was on his way. I contacted New Image to come for a bid to plant sod in our back yard on 7/19. They let me know they wouldn't be able to come out for two weeks - so we set an appointment for 8am 8/2. At 35 weeks pregnant, two weeks is a long time to wait when we're trying to get the project done before our baby arrives, but we wanted to make sure we were getting a variety of quotes. Yesterday rolls around, and I receive an automated email confirming my appointment. But, no one ever shows up. My landscape designer and I waited over an hour last our appointment time before giving up. I left multiple phone messages and emailed the company, but never heard back. New Image completely wasted my time, delaying me landscape project when we are so close to the end. I've received no acknowledgement that they missed the appointment. read more

Please consider this before you hire John/New Image. John was referred to us by my brother-in-law. He came over and was very pleasant and assured us he would take care of us like family. He continued to call and pressure for the signature and $, even though I explained that my wife' s mother had just suffered a stroke. (Should have known then). I later approved and paid the first installment and his crew responded and planted trees and shrubs in the front and back yards in 117 degree weather. (Yes, 117 degrees). The NUT he sent (Larry) was not a good ambassador and switched up (by force) on several plants and trees because he said he worked and maintained the Santa Anita Race Track and knew what to pick! The main worker, Victor was terrific and I firmly believe he should go out on his own and run away from New Image. (*He and his workers had no water or food, so we provided drinks, breakfast and lunch each day they were at our home). After dead plants, blown over trees, damaged vehicle, broken fountain, etc., the Job was never completed. We then called the office numerous times to get ZERO action. I called John and he blew me off and referred me to the "contract." Hey John, your contract says a "final walk-thru!" Never saw John but at the first visit to secure the job and $. Called my brother-in-law (the one who referred John) and he was outraged. On a recent three-way call, John promised to send his crew back ASAP to make things right. Following a "No-Show," I was forced to hire another landscaper to fix the job. Sad, but I hope others will read this and understand, family, friends, etc., mean Zero...it's all about the $! By the way, New Image was the most expensive quote being several thousand dollars more, but I listened to my brother-in-law and hired John. Anyone thinking about hiring New Image, you may reach out to me personally for the entire sad story. There are many other options out there to consider and I will be talking to my brother-in-law, who employs New Image at other projects he has. Loss of revenue may get John's attention. It is my fervent hope that John never goes into the business of managing other people's money! read more

I called New Image initially to trim our trees (beautiful job!!) and to look at a irrigation problem. What we thought was a broken sprinkler head turned out to be a bigger issue: our 100 year old main line was leaking. John recommended a contractor who arrived the next day to do the work (also did an excellent job in an emergency situation!) and we were back with a new main line in 2 days. I hired New Image Landscaping with the expectation of quality service from a bigger, more professional organization, as advertised. This is when compared to the no name guys with a phone number, a truck, and some cheap laborers off the street. I was wrong. Initially I wanted a quote for the front yard. The scope was as follows: Remove ALL existing brick in front yard, install new irrigation system, install 2 planters at house, install new mulch in planters at house, entire yard shall be new sod. I received the estimate and believed it was fair. The work started on a Saturday, which I was surprised about. I should qualify the following statements by saying that this property is an investment property and live 20 miles from it, so the probability of being there at the same time was a 5% chance, especially when I was not notified of an exact day for starting time. So I just happened to be there on the same day the workers started on the yard. It was about half way through the day and they weren't removing the existing brick. I asked them when they were going to remove it and they looked confused. So I spoke to Armen on the phone and he said that it was a mistake in the estimate and they would handle it, however they needed to hit me with an additional $300 for dump fee. I wasn't please but I agreed to it. So by the end of the day the brick was removed. The following week, I returned to the property and noticed that the brick was removed, the planters were installed and the lawn was only 75% complete. Also the mulch was nowhere to be found. So I let it be and figured that they accidentally underestimated the sod; so I didn't press the issue any further. Also I hadn't heard from the company and gave them the benefit of the doubt. 3 days later on Tuesday, I get a call from John asking me "So what do you think about the yard?". Confused I replied "Incomplete". When I explained to him what the current status was, he removed himself from the phone and came back saying "We will get it done". Then what he said next really upset me. He said "So when can we get payment, because I do not want to have to place a "Contractor Lien on the Property". I said that I was not happy with his attempt of threats, but that he would be paid in full when the scope of work was complete. I then went back a few days later on Saturday and noticed that the grass was 100% completed, however the mulch was not installed. So again I emailed John and stated that there was not any mulch installed. I also commented that when the mulch is installed to "email me a picture of the completed scope so that I could send payment." I received an email back saying that they would put in the mulch. I received an email the next day telling me that the scope was completed but it did not have a picture for "proof of completion" as I requested. I replied back "please send a picture as requested" and John replied "call me". Needless to say I was fed up at this point with babysitting the situation. Four separate times I needed to tell the company what they weren't doing. A job that was supposed to take 1.5 day maximum, was stretched out into 4 weeks. I needed to stay on top of this company to make sure that what was agreed to in contract was completed. The customer service was terrible. That being said, I went to the site for one final time this past Saturday and noticed that the scope has been 100% completed. I am pleased with the final product, but am not satisfied with the customer service. Seriously you can't threaten a client with placing a lien on his home for non payment when YOU HAVEN"T COMPLETED YOUR SCOPE. I am sending payment - $100 from an email that offered me $100 off the bill for posting something on yelp. My advise to anyone is if they can not be in attendance 100% of the time when you hire New Image Landscaping, expect numerous mistakes, threats, and terrible customer service, from a company that supposedly prides themselves on adding value to their clients. Just received a note from the owner saying that he has to pick up his daughter from daycare every day at 4:30 and that family comes first and so would I please remove my negative review. The answer is as follows: I raised my two kids from the time they were 3 and not quite 5 yrs. old, alone. One has just graduated from LMU and the other is a jr. at USC. I have always placed them first in my life and will always so continue. That would not be my excuse for treating customers in a sloppy way, I only expected a call back, which I was promised, and that call never came! Further, a suggestion, John with all of your lovely trucks I assume you are doing a good business, but perhaps you should consider having someone help you manage your business so that you can take advantage of potential customers, instead of turning them away. read more

John Lampasona Jr. came out to my home over 2 weeks ago to assess my front and back yard for landscaping. I need new plants, tree trimming, sprinkler updates and more....Initially, I was unimpressed by his design/ plant recommendations but proceeded to show him around in hopes of getting an estimate to compare with other companies. In my back yard I wanted a new area of plant coverage as well as a raised vegetable bed. I also mentioned a fountain. John proceeded to ask me a technical question about types of sprinkler valves I wanted. I said I didn't know anything about that but assumed we would do whatever made the most sense and was most cost effective with existing sprinkler set up (which are brand new). John then told me if I was looking for CHEAP that this wasn't the right company for me. That the minimum cost would be $2500 or more. REALLY!?! That's what you say to a potential customer? FYI... I actually had it in my head that it would be around $5000 for what I wanted. Good job profiling customers! I should have stopped him right there but finished the walk through and was told he would send me and estimate via email. I never received an estimate from him over 2 weeks later. Not that I would have used his 2nd rate company anyway. I guess he assumed I wasn't willing to pay enough to be worth his time. A little less arrogance and a LOT more professionalism would serve NEW IMAGE landscaping well. read more

We have a very old sprinkler system that can be a puzzle to us when things stop working. John the owner came out and gave us a quote and Issah showed up exactly at the time given. I really liked the fact that he parked on the street and not in our driveway. To me that is old school and a sign of respect. Among other things, we were sure we had a broken pipe. Turns out it was a bad leak at the faucet. He did the work in short order and everything was fine until a section stopped working shortly after. When I called John to report this his answer was one of the valves wasn't working properly. He sent Issah out right away and yes indeed one of the valves had gone bad.
