After using various AC companies over the past 15 years we have been using New Balance for the past 3 years. They had installed the ACs in the house we moved into so we continued on with them for maintenance. We have had to replace both systems since moving into the house (due to age) and felt that we were given a very fair price. We had some issues with the installation of the second unit last year and even when things were not going to plan New Balance handled the situation with grace. They always do a very thorough job with the annual maintenance and we have never worked with a technician that hasn't been knowledgeable and efficient. read more

This COMPLAINT is not a personal attack on this family; the costs resulting from their faulty system robs me physical and financial comfort are extremely personal. This home is 1100sq ft.. Everything was brand new in '17. All vents on west side of home were shut long ago and now I leave the a/c off in order to financially survive the greed and lack of integrity of others! Don't piss on my leg, Sam Kelly. Ya pulled the permit after installation and only when confronted by inspector. To this day...the ductwork leaks. Ya did wrong here folks. read more

New Balance makes you feel like they're doing the work for a family member! The care and meticulousness that goes into the service they provide is immeasurable - not to mention the safety precautions taken to make us feel comfortable during a pandemic. Jim is actually in my attic as I write this, and has encountered several challenges to which his reply continues to be, "Don't worry, I'll fix it." This level of customer care is unmatched! New Balance is listed as a Diamond Certified Provider for Mitsubishi Electric. On July 7th, I called to inquire about having a mini split installed being referred to New Balance by Mitsubishi. The office manager said he would have someone out on July 8th from 1-3pm to go over the project and provide an estimate. I got a phone call from the same office manager saying they couldn't make the appointment, and the owner, Mr. Sam Kelly, wanted to come out on July 29th to do the estimate. Seriously, don't waste your time with this company especially if you live in Oak Forest. Just because they are in the neighborhood doesn't Make them a great company. Obviously, Sam and Janet Kelly have problems retaining good employees otherwise they would be accepting new business within a day, not a whole month out. If this is what Mitsubishi considers "Diamond Certified", then I'll stick with my regular HVAC guy who I know and trust to get me what I want and install it. read more

We had New Balance come in to inspect our A/C system back in late August 2021. Jim arrived early, got right to work climbing all around the equipment stuffed into a small pitch-roofed attic to check everything. He is very passionate about doing things the right way, meaning he is very motivated to find mistakes that pile up over the years with an A/C system's installation, maintenance, and repairs. He also was great at teaching me about the system, which I definitely appreciated. When Jim identified some black mold (new symptoms were part of the reason we initially called New Balance), he was able to tell me straight up that it was not a system-wide problem affecting ductwork, and just required plenum replacement where the photographed mold had taken root. After checking everything else out outside-in, offering invaluable advice to cut down on clogging that a previous repair from the prior company had started, he scheduled us for the replacement. The crew arrived early in the morning and because of the nonstandard plenum installed by the HVAC outfit (2 companies ago, who apparently had something against glue to secure PVC pipes together at the joints, which causing a leak in early 2020) they had to wait for another worker to arrive with the means to cut/fit the plenum for our HVAC. This skips the time for 4 people (2 in training, if I'm not mistaken) in a hot, cramped, pitched-roof attic with barely a few feet of planking to move around to figure out what the installer had done, and make accurate measurements. At one point I heard dripping on the attic's ladder and wood decking and thought we had a leak, only to realize that it was sweat. Sadine, Matthew, David, and Carlos spent most of the day in that miserable attic and found another PVC joint with no adhesive, saving us from another probable leak. All while answering questions that I had from doubts about the previous HVAC company. Nobody got snippy with each other, no one lost their temper, just really good unit cohesion on that day. My experience was great, and I found their technicians to be professionals from initial inspection, through repair, and ongoing maintenance. My experiences with other HVAC operations tells me this is the one for us going forward, and we have had no issues in the last 4 months, with allergy symptoms alleviated. read more

Called Sam at New Balance in a last resort to get a new HVAC to complete a difficult vent hood install. Two very reputable HVAC companies quoted me costs for a double walled vent, which Sam said was not warranted. His bid was the cheapest and when it came to inspection, we passed with flying colors after getting red tagged the first time. Sam and his team even cleaned up some sloppy work by a previous vendor. Sam Kelly and the New Balance HVAC team is now our preferred HVAC company. They are efficient, competitive on price, on time and honest. read more

When our AC went out suddenly, we called our normal Heating and AC company. They spent 4 hours trying to diagnose the problem, didn't fix the issue as they claimed, then tried to sell us a full new AC system replacement. A good friend referred us to New Balance to help get the issue resolved, and we couldn't be happier. When I called them (on a holiday weekend), the manager (David) willingly juggled around some of their recurring maintenance jobs in order to fit me in that day. When their tech (Jim) arrived just as promised, he had diagnosed the issue within 30 minutes. He located a wire that was probably never reconnected by the first technician (my guess, in order to sell us a full new unit.). So we went from the prospect of spending several thousand dollars on a new AC unit, to paying just a minimal service fee for New Balance to fix the issue and reconnect the wire. In addition, the tech was fantastic, and very educational. This small company deserves your business. Trustworthy and very impressive. Thanks New Balance. You have a customer for life! read more

They're also knowledgeable, prompt, and everyone was extremely easy to work with. They helped us get back into our home after Hurricane Harvey and even followed up with us for maintenance. These folks installed our a/c unit 10 years ago, so I sent them an overnight email when it died. They called first thing this morning and came out a couple of hours later, identified the problem, thoroughly explained it and the recommended solution, and we said ""Go." We had one little mis-communication about a part that doesn't come with the new outside box which would be an additional charge. I called the owner and explained that for our financial planning purposes, this discussion would have been better up front. He agreed and quickly offered a satisfactory resolution. I had taken two other bids, which contradicted each other about what caused the failure, omitted labor costs in the estimates, despite direct questioning about them and having been told the labor was not included and requesting an estimate with at least a ballpark estimate. One of them had offered a different brand than the York we have at almost the same price as New Balance parts + labor estimate. Give me a company like New Balance where the owner listens to your concerns, thanks you for the advice and then also does his best to make you happy! I'd recommend New Balance to anyone. read more

I called to buy an AC unit and the guy who answered was incredibly rude! He asked if I was a telemarketer and when I explained I wanted to purchase an AC unit he kept his rude tone. I asked him if it was a problem then I could call someone else and he said "yeah, you do that." As a business owner myself I would never treat a customer that way. I can just imagine the service, I'm glad I dodged that one. read more
