Expensive company. A/C was not cooling. Came out and replaced the capacitor. The same exact part found online cost $15. The charged $99 to diagnose and another $325 to replace it. Took them 45 minutes total to diagnose and repair. Considering they need to make a reasonable margin on the part...let's say $50...(costing $15 retail), they billed me for what equates to some $500 per hour labor. I contacted them about it. Basically sent a very cold basic email and said there was nothing they could do. umm, maybe a partial refund? read more

ALL ON ME-I do not have a 5 Star Testimonial for this Business. There promotion is to get as much money as possible and service later. I didn't do my homework on this job. Yes, they gave me a bid, but it wasn't itemized on the bid. My fault on that. Didn't expect the company I use for pass services and even replaced the home unit to be so false-hearted in there day to day business. This is a warning to other that this company don't have their interest in you but your coinage. The bid for $899.00 for media filter add-on , material less than $95.00, (exceptions of a unit from $275-$400), two men, total 1hour of work, (note, the men were very nice, polite, clean up after themselves and did wear mask) conceivably total job maybe $200.00. 75% is the minimum in markup. So, lesson learn. Do not use this company. read more

Ronnie came out on less than a day's notice to look at a dripping overflow drain. Identified the problem to the internal drain line feeding into a downstairs sink. He could easily have told us that it was now an issue for a plumber to deal with, but to his credit, he didn't. He took apart one the sink drain, cleared the blockage, replaced the clogged tubing, and showed me throughout what he was doing. Really appreciate that he stuck with it (and me) to solve the problem for us. read more

I had an incident and called Dave for service on 9/10/2020, so it is in the middle of a pandemic. To my amazement he had a technician at my home within 2 hours. I already knew they were a good company and that's why I had them replacement my old unit a few years back. I have been absolutely satisfied with their installation and with the unit. I had an incident with the unit that was actually my fault nd it caused some ceiling damage. As you can see they were here very quickly, found the problem, repaired it and all is well. Now, what makes them a great company is there wa no charge. I realize he only had to unstop a line but it was their time and my fault. My company has had a contract with this company for around 7 years now to do our quarterly maintenance on our a/c and heating and they recently called to tell us they were dropping us as a client because they didn't feel like driving out to all of our locations anymore... with no warning! I'm disappointed that a long-term relationship seemed to mean nothing to them and they didn't mind leaving us in a lurch. Now we're scrambling to find a new a/c and heating company, who will have to come out and look at our systems to figure out what we have, since Hi-Tech didn't offer us any recommendations when asked and didn't give us any information on our systems that we could pass on to a new company. I will certainly update this when I get the new company out and they can tell us whether Hi-Tech was even doing the maintenance we were paying for. read more

While driving on 99, I was recklessly cut off by this service truck. They jumped out in front of me in the left lane going 15 mph slower than the traffic around them. Obviously the drivers lack attention and drive dangerously. I laid on the horn, but got no wave or signal from the driver. They will never have my business. read more

I was surprised when the quotes from this company came in at less than half of the cost that two other companies had quoted. The work that was completed was to "fix" the work on my HVAC system that a previous company did about three years ago that failed. I know have the security of knowing that the job was done right. I have used Dave lane for over 8 years now for all my air and heating services and repairs. I have never had any issues with any of the service technicians. they are always on time, give me a heads up call. they do a great work once here. I have also changed two units now with them and I have gotten very competitive quotes and honest advice. they do not perform any hard sales. once they are in your home , they use floor matts to cover your floor and protective shoe socks. everything is always cleaned and left tidy. my favorite technician is Ryan. He knows my house air and heating units so well and is always very courteous and helpful. I do have a service contract with them which is helpful to have so you have your early services booked automatically . read more

Customer Beware! We used this company many times in the past and came to trust them. Then we called them again when the compressor of one of the A/C units would not start. Their repairman came and replaced the starter kit, which took 15 minutes flat. The repair cost was $477. We were surprised by the charge, and so we asked the repairman about the cost of the parts that he replaced. He said $10-$25 each (he replaced the capacitor and starter kit). Sure enough, we researched these two parts on Google, and they were about $15-$20 each. Home Depot had capacitors for just $10. Nevertheless, Dave Lane A/C invoiced us $189 and $199 for the two parts. The repairman apologized, but said that was what the company instructed him to charge. We called the owner of Dave Lane A/C and complained about the excessive charge. We hoped that our prior dealings with the company would be taken into consideration. But the owner would not budge. We asked him why we were not told about the cost before the parts were replaced, and his response was, the repairman should have discussed the cost before replacing the parts. We have used Dave Lane repair service for several years. They are good, BUT....on August 12, in 100+ degree weather, our AC went out. By the time we noted the temp rising in the house, and made our first call for service, it was 5:10pm. We got NO call back. Two more calls, still NO callback. By now the temp in the house was at 86 degrees. My wife then left a message on their Facebook page. Still no reaction. Finally, at 7:30am on the 13th, we were awakened with a call. I was told that they close the office at 5:00pm, which is why we had no response. I then asked, "Don't you have an emergency number?", they replied, "We only have emergencies on the weekend." When the tech came out he informed us that the company could not afford to have anyone on call 24/7. To be fair, several weeks earlier, we had a problem where the AC stopped on a Saturday. Since it was a weekend (when we were allowed to have emergencies) the tech was at the house in about 20 minutes. It's a shame that the same service is unavailable Monday thru' Friday from 5:00pm to 7:30am. We are trying to decide whether we will use them again or look for someone who is on call every day. read more

I had used this company as my a/c "go to" people when it was called "Hi Tech mechanical",prior to their merger with another company,where the name was changed to "David Lanes Hi-tech Mechanical,Inc"..my prior experience was good, with professional service techs especially ronny),courteous and quick appointments,as well as prices which were reasonable..i needed a/c service yesterday,and when I called a very polite lady on the phone scheduled a service tech within a few hours..he initially said another tech would need to come out later in the day to finish up,but then he called to advise me that he would be coming back..i appreciated the calls as a "heads up"!..in any case, I will continue to use this company,even with a new name, as long as they have service techs like ryan g. working for them (and I was told ronny is still there as well),are professional,courteous and reasonably priced..i will also recommend them to anyone asking me for a reference on a/c or heater servicing... read more

Called Dave Lane on Saturday morning at about 8:30 for an AC problem. They said they could come around 11:00. They called back and asked if it was ok to come earlier. He was here before 10:00 and gone before 11:00. The cost was very reasonable and the technician was professional. I highly recommend Dave Lane. The Technician (Chris) showed up a little before 8 am. They removed the old unit, set the new one, and had wired it in by around 10 am. He said it was working. Problem note: however, due to a wiring mistake the unit did not cool. I called for service and a different Tech (Ryan) came out here in about twenty minutes. He said the problem was a loose wire and assured me it was fixed. The unit still didn't bring the temperature down. So, it being after 5 pm and with the Temperature now around 83, I determined to call again tomorrow. The next day I called for service again and a different Tech (Jesse) came out around 8 am. He found that due to crushed wire, a short circuit caused the heat to switch on every time the cooling system switched on. He corrected the problem and it has been working ever since. In conclusion, Dave Lane's installation and service is good. Their Technicians are prompt, if not necessarily through. They make it right, eventually. read more

OMG! They came to our rescue! I woke up to a sweltering 78 degrees when my thermostat stays at 71 during the brutal summer months. I panicked because I have a sickly mother, long-haired dog and husband recuperating from heart surgery so I called a well known company who made every effort to come check out the AC however, after 30 mins. and an estimate that made me sick to my stomach (I would have to sell my soul to afford) and then suffering 86 degrees all night long I opted for a second opinion. I found Dave Lane in a link on a Trane website, made the call first thing the next morning and not only was I greeted with compassion, prompt service but a REASONABLE quote to repair my AC unit. Jesse called, showed up and took care of the problem right away and my family is now cool, comfortable and happy. I can rest now knowing my family is no longer suffering. Hi-Tech Mechanical has been my A/C and Heating service provider for five years. This is the most reputable service company I have used in many, many years as a homeowner. There has never been a time when I have called that a technician did not make it to my house ASAP. I have never waited over 24 hours for a technician. I finally had to replace my furnace (25 years old) which was wreaking havoc on my A/C. Jeremy was excellent in trying to keep A/C going for as long as possible. We discussed the furnace replacement (which I knew had to be done from several bids I had received a few months ago). However, I trust Jeremy, a very knowledgeable person, we discussed replacement, and I received a bid as good or better than I had from other providers. Jeremy set me up for replacing the furnace for the following week; unfortunately, the A/C couldn't hold up until then, but he and Hi-Tech were able to get me on their schedule for the following day. It took only 3 hours to get all the work completed on my 1990 system. Now, it is perfect for the Houston temperatures!
