Short Review: in an area that has been taken over, due to gentrification, Apolo's is one of the old places still around. It's Chinese food here, but I don't come here for the food, I don't believe most people do-- it's for the drinks!! They have an extensive menu of drinks that a very strong and you'll surely feel a buzz, but won't cost you an arm or leg. My friend recommended we come here after a "hefty" night of drinking. He said it's good to soak up the liquor. The inside looks like a mix between a typical Chinese restaurant and a Dominican restaurant. It had items you would see in both. He recommended the cracklin chicken and that's what I ordered. The service was the same that you would see at a diner. The guy who took our orders didn't even write it down. The food was just okay. The cracklin chicken was dry, it was fried well, but the meat was dry. That rice tho....was bussin. I had the Dominican rice and it was delicious. Because this place is kinda a late night after drinking spot, expect loud people, and sometimes fights. While me and my buddy were there a couple got into an argument, and the lady poured her drink on the man; as she was leaving he threw his bottle of beer at her and it splashed everywhere. Thank God the bottle didn't break. Maybe at a different time of day it's a different ambiance, but I gave it the rating I did because of that experience, and I didn't think the chicken was that good. What went well was the Malibu Colada, excellent! But the house special fried rice I do not recommend!

Me and my boys came here for my birthday and these guys haven't missed a beat. I had the breaded chicken with the tostones and garlic sauce. It was very good. I also order the pork chops and shrimp fried rice with lettuce and tomatoes. The shrimp fried rice was very tasty and the pork chops were on point! The customer service was amazing too. The waiter took all of our orders without a notepad and didn't mess up any of the orders. He was very knowledgeable with the food as well. Oh and don't forget their famous home made Ice tea! Just your ordinary Chinese/Spanish spot in the neighborhood but it's the go to spot if your craving a buffet friendly meal and a nice drink. Yes the drinks (alcoholic beverages) are the cherry on top for this spot. I ordered the blue Hawaiian and it did not disappoint. I also had the boneless fried crackling chicken and it was fried perfectly and the portions are great so you can share if you want. I would order different things if I'm with a group and just split everything up so you can taste a little bit of everything. Now back to the drinks lol they are strong and worth the price. Ok, You start off with some warm toasted bread with some butter packets. And then we received our drinks. Everything was delicious. The food and service was prompt. Everything came out in a decent time. It's definitely not a date night get dressed up spot but definitely a let's go grab lunch or dinner spot because it's Thursday or something. Hands down the best fast food I've had in New York, nothing like it. The food is an Asian Spanish fusion that makes everything full of flavor and leave you wanting seconds the next day. The Boneless Chicken Cracking / OR (Chicharrones De Pollo Sin Hueso) is literally the food I will ask for on my death bed (ask for extra lemon with that chicken). The Steak sandwich is also a crazy good easy to eat quick takeout item. And the drinks are strong and tasty! They have huge variety and everything is worth a try if it sounds interesting, chances are it'll be good. Only down side is that they're VERY well know for rushing you out the door and quick to hand you your bill and they still expect a tip! Lol but you gotta love em. The service here was terrible. Food was, mediocre. I asked for Boneless chicken chunks with rice, shredded spicy beef with shrimp fried rice with vegetables and General Tso's shrimp. I received battered covered shrimp with sweet and sour sauce poured on top of it. they gave me vegetable fried rice instead of shrimp fried rice with vegetables. Every time I informed the waiter he gave me the wrong dish he waved me off. I asked for refill on my garlic and instead of bringing me a fresh dish with garlic he took the dish I was already using and added more garlic in there. Anytime we call the waiter for something he seemed very annoyed with us. I was really excited to visit a restaurant that I used to frequent when it was on Delancey Street in Manhattan. I was very unsatisfied. it's unfortunate how horrible this restaurant has become. My waiter who was horrible - his gratuity was included in my bill and I was very annoyed by that. Always wanted to try Spanish/Chinese fusion food. Browsing Yelp and found my opportunity. According to previous reviews, the pork fried rice is a must try along with the crackling chicken. I have to say the fried rice is definitely better than most Chinese fast food places I have been to. The dish has good color and juicy roast pork sprinkled along with a scallion and bean sprouts. I received 4 handball sized crackling chicken and it wasn't the juiciest chicken but it was seasoned well and very filling. They are generous with their pours enough that you can split one drink into 2-3 and use another mixer to tone it down a bit (I used soda). For dinner we got: Chicken and broccoli w/ garlic sauce- Chicken well done perfectly and fresh. I was satisfied with the chicken to broccoli ratio. General Tso's chicken (white meat)- So good. Good crisp to the chicken. The sauce was a more reddish color that I haven't seen for this dish before but it was delish. Eggroll - I wanted a shrimp eggroll but they don't offer that so I got a regular one. Smaller than other places egg rolls but was just fine as quick bite. Steak on stick - Would not get this again. I was wondering how it could only be 2$ and then we tried it. Cheap cut of steak with bad flavor sauce. Chicken wings- The fry was done perfect. Minimal grease. I ordered this on Uber Eats after moving to Brooklyn two months ago. I have a great Chinese spot in my hometown and wanted to try out multiple Chinese places in order to find one that compares. After checking the yelp reviews and ratings it had on Google, I decided to try this out. When I received the food, I was confused as to the main portions of the combination plate. For context, I ordered the Boneless Spare Ribs and Chicken Wings with plain fried rice. The ribs and the chicken were not like your typical Chinese spots, which I assumed because the menu had all of the typical Chinese dishes. After giving it a chance and not being closed off to new renditions, I found the chicken and ribs to be extremely dry with the rice having little to no flavor. I decided to stop eating it after taking about 10 bites and wanted to throw up. I had the WORST STOMACH CRAMPS not even 5 minutes into eating it. I can't speak on the service or ambiance of the restaurant, but just based off the food....DO NOT EAT HERE. I am currently going through these stomach cramps and hope no one will go through this. So this Brooklyn native visiting from Texas (along with my nephew) walked into this Williamsburg joint that seemed unassuming from the outside. Immediately, I tried to guess what happened to the missing "L" in Apol(l)o. An unfortunate typo or an attempt to avoid some kind of copyright infringement were my first two guesses. Place is small-ish...like a max headcount of 25. Most of the customers kept to themselves, except for a loud and raucous group of 10 or so who forgot their indoor voices at the door. Guys with mouths full of chow mein throwing shade at each other. Girls who would alternate between shreiking laughter and "OH NO U DIDN'T" type callouts. No shock to me because that's typical Brooklyn. For the unsuspecting patron however, it would trigger that fight or flight switch that flips when you sense imminent danger. So don't go looking for ambiance and charm in here. Anyway...we take a seat. A peek at the menu quickly reveals that this a Chinese/Spanish food fusion restaurant. So you could go for either General Tso's chicken or arroz con pollo, depending on what your tastebuds are craving. We decide on the original objective of Chinese cuisine and peruse our options. Some of the item titles were obscure. "Beef Special With Rice" and "Chicken Or Shrimp With Spicy Sauce"...you get the idea. I get the Beef In Garlic Sauce With Fried Rice and my nephew gets Szechuan Chicken with Chow Mein. And three eggrolls. Can't continue without mentioning the drink menu (there's a small bar near the back of the room). Options that included cocktails named after almost every character in the MCU/DC realms (Spider-Man, Batman, X-Men, etc.). And most notably, something called the "Alien Secretion", which I had to sample. Vodka, melon liqueur, coconut rum liqueur and pineapple juice. Sugary and stiff as f$%k, but a perfect way to enhance the crazy vibe of this joint. We could tell that the narrow aisle between the tables and booths was the place where many knock down, dragged out fights took place. Food shows up. What stood out from the top was tthe fried rice. It was a burnt orange color. Thought I got Spanish rice by mistake, but nope, that was the fried rice. And every server, busboy, bartender, etc. in the place was Asian. Yet another add-on to the weirdness of the New Apolo. Our meals tasted better that expected. My only gripe was that my beef dish was almost completely buried in sauce, making it more like a stew. That along with orange fried rice created a conflict between my eyes and my mouth, but I still ate about half of it (the rest being leftovers). This place had a "2-hour customer visit limit" rule and when the rowdy bunch broke out in a "rap-along" of some $h1tty hip hop song, I was hoping that their time had run out. But we were about to pay the check, so we split. Overall, this was a dining experience that featured OK food at a reasonable price and decent service. But it was all overshadowed by a lingering "wtf just happened?" feeling that was hard to shake after we left. So if you do check this place out, be prepared for an odd experience that you won't have at any other Chinese restaurant. Report back if you make it out in one piece. read more

Went here last night and the food and service were great until it came time to pay. The employees were racial profiling and wouldn't let us pay with a credit card. They said it didn't have a name so they couldn't run it even though we showed them the matching debt card with a name that matched. The waiter insisted we show ID (which is illegal) before we pay for a tiny $40 bill. This was clearly a racist act and I will not be supporting this business again. Apolos was always my go to for mixed drinks and I would always order same plate, chicken and broccoli with pork fried rice no vegetables. Tonite I placed a delivery order to be at my house for when I got home from work. Got my food, showered, finally sitting down to eat. So far so good, go for a another bite and I'm chewing on somthin that I thought was plastic, I pull it out and it's a F$&king finger nail, I almost died, I threw up everything I had already got down, MORTIFIED. We asked to send back the egg rolls for a less burnt one and the waiter says they precook all their food and heat it up. What ? Yuk. They refused to replace our all three diners eggrolls only repacked one and brought back an equally burnt one. We decided that will be our last visit for food.
