None of the snobby attitudes you get at the Walgreens/Duane Reade around the city. Everything is fairly priced, and when I didn't have insurance, the pharmacist had helped me find a GoodRx code to get the lowest price possible. That says a lot about a person, which is truly heartwarming. I also love that their convenience shop area aren't locked up, so I can actually shop without having to flag an employee down. I don't live in South Slope anymore, but this is one of my favorite neighborhoods in NYC. Oak Park has a super convenient location right across from the F train (15th St-Bartel Pritchard Cir), so it makes it very easy to finPlus, there are great places to eat nearby and Prospect Park right there, which makes picking up a prescription part of a nice errand instead of a chore.

I literally went in to pick up my prescription and they provided me no details about the medicine. When I got home, I saw that they filled the a prescription I had filled a week prior, then they didn't provide the full amount of medicine on another prescription. This was a frustrating experience for several reasons however I can't ignore the lack of analyzing the prescriptions that are actively on file for a patient. I've worked at a pharmacy as a tech, and thankfully I read my prescriptions before I take them. Did I forget to mention they also filled two medicines that work in the same exact way, and do the same exact thing as opposed to giving me guidance and double checking with the Doctors office or making a professional opinion on which medicine is best appropriate. Save your energy and go to pharmacy with both capacity and skill so that your health isn't being taken for granted by professionals who are supposed to act in the interest of your health.

They text/call when prescriptions were ready. My first time visiting, I was impressed. This store is small but definitely accommodating and I was in and out quickly. My second visit I went directly to the counter and asked for assistance, no lines like that dreadful spot Downtown Brooklyn. Smaller, local, customer friendly, family owned, in/out quickly, and professional.

In just about every aspect of my life, I try and support local businesses over the ever-increasingly dominant chain corporations that are taking over our lives. For some reason, that didn't extend to prescriptions. Until now. SVRH is better in every single way than the soulless corporate pharmacy we used to go to. (I'm not going to name names, but it rhymes with DVS.) First and most importantly, they actually have the prescription drugs that my children need when they get very ill. In stock. Ready to roll, without a wait. I'm not sure how or why they have a better stock than a major corporation, but they do. Secondly, you get to talk to actual humans. Instead of pressing a bunch of numbers to try and get my problem solved when I call in, until I inevitably scream "REPRESENTATIVE!" at the phone, I called SVRH and an actual human being answered. And she answered my question quickly, without having to consult another human or put me on hold for 20 minutes until she came back with a non-answer. Thirdly, when you go in, you get to see and experience genuine human care. These are nice humans trying to get other humans the medicine they need, quickly and efficiently. I also love to see the Asian dude behind the counter throwing pounds to the black community patronizing this business. Yes, some people waiting were impatient and a little angry, but the staff (and there were plenty of people working) dealt with all of them well, and even with a bit of humor. If I can make it work, SVRH will get all of our prescription business from here on out. Plus, they sell lotto tickets, so they'll win that $1 million when I win the Powerball. Which is good for all of us.
