If you're looking for a completely dry manicure in the middle of Chicago winter, then you may really like this place. My experience, however, was hands down the worst manicure of my life. No pun intended. I came in from the cold, sat down, and the tech immediately started scraping away at my dry, cold cuticles. No soak, no softener -- just cold, hard steel. She proceeded to make several comments about how hard my cuticles are, as if the technology doesn't exist at a nail salon to soften cuticles before treating them. Several fingers started bleeding, which the tech treated as something I did wrong. There were several points in which I almost told her to stop and I'd finish elsewhere, but I ended up surviving until the end. Absolute waste of time and money. Avoid avoid avoid. This is the worst nail studio i have ever been to. I got a full set of gel x nails and after a singular day, nails starting coming off. Two days later, every nail was off except two. I went in and asked to get them re done free of charge and they said they had a 7 day policy so i could. I went in and the lady at the desk told me there was no availability for me the entire day and to come back the next day. I explained how i had just been here and my nails were all off and looked awful at this point with just two on and then they agreed. The lady who ended up doing my nails was mad she had to do that as she was just walking out the door - whole experience was awful. Two days later another nail of my brand new set popped off. I was a walk-in appointment on a Saturday afternoon for gel polish (with design) on natural nails. Even though they were busy, the wait was only a half hour. Sylvia was my technician. She did such an amazing job, really took her time, and had an attention to detail. She also stopped at every step for me to check and make sure I liked it and didn't want anything changed. After looking up places on Yelp to get my nails done on my Friday alone in Chicago, i found this place. I stopped at a few others during my walk but they couldn't take me for various reasons. Finally I made it here and was pleasantly surprised by the beautiful decor and luxurious ambiance. I opted for a no chip mani and a no chip polish change on my toes. The service was relaxing and wonderful and my tech was kind and was efficient with a great attention to detail. This place gave me hands down the best manicure I've ever had and probably the most expensive. But it most certainly worth it. I am suuuuuper particular about who does my nails! My mom has been going to this shop for a few months. She kept telling me to try them out! Well today I did! Betzey does my mom's nails and she also did mine today. They offer you complimentary bottled water here....complimentary wine too so I hear! Which I thought was a cute touch! Betzey was on time for her appointment she went to the back to get me a fresh pack of nail utensils! I noticed they did that with every customer. She took her time and did them right. It took her about a little over and hour and a half. They don't use the standard gel or acrylic. They use a different try of technique. It's called Zen builder gel. Betzey applied builder gel to some tips and like painted the gel on them. It such a neat process that I have never seen before! It's much stronger than regular gel polish base coats, and the formula is a much thicker consistency to a normal base coat. They say my nails can last up to three weeks. I really love the way Betzey did my nails!! I totally recommend her!!!! I can't wait to go back! I paid $80 for my nails they are totally worth it!! Edit: One nail came off two days after my appointment. So my nails have came off! Mind you I got my nails done 6 days ago! My mom never had a problem sooo I don't know what happened. They were kinda of thin. My mom actually has an appointment tomorrow so I will be going in to show her. I keep you guys posted..3/2/2023 Edit: so I spoke to Betzey and I guess the owner and they were cool. She said next time just give a call and let them know right when it happened. I am new to the area and have had trouble finding a salon that does dip. I thought new age would be convenient since it was close and a friend of mine had a good experience here. My experience turned out to be one of the worst manicures I have ever received. Although staff was nice, within a day an entire dip nail chipped off. Fast forward to 5 days after the manicure and I only have 3/10 nails still intact. I have NEVER had a dip manicure chip let alone fall off like this within 2-3 weeks of having my nails done. I cam here last Friday, It took three hours for a dip mani/pedi. After my nails were done, the technician looked at the final product and then asked if I could stay so she could restart, because they were covered in lumps. I said no because it was almost 8 pm at this point. I have had 5 nails chip within 48 hours and now they have began to break off. I've been growing my nails out for months, so this is very sad. I got completely screwed and was fully disrespected by the woman doing my nails as I'm sure she could tell I was worried about how the final product was going to turn out. Went to this place to try out as I am new to the neighborhood and it conveniently located, during my visit I had a gel manicure and pedicure and it was horrendous. The color was uneven and the service I was provided lacked good manicure skills with cuticles and nail shaping. The nail tech Nuri was extremely rude. Went in with an appointment for a dip color change. Nuri told me I needed a manicure and she can't do it without one so I agreed however then continued to tell me I should never do dip and it is terrible for my nails and to switch to gel. She also would not disclose hoe much the price difference was even when I asked multiple times. When she changed to gel she started using acrylic instead which would have been $80 instead of the service I wanted for $42. Lots of leftover cuticle skin on my hands. Honestly could paint my nails better myself, but I come in specifically to get them throughly trimmed. Disappointed and wast of my $58. The front desk was not very welcoming and warm upon entry. They have you fill out a form with your information that they have to manually clear out once you complete it, but if they forget then the next person checking in will see my full name, phone number, and email. Feel like they should handle personal information more professionally. Also my technician wiped her nose, with her mask on, but still you should not be touching your face like that right in front of me. When I asked her to wash her hands she looked really confused, but I think it was a perfectly reasonable request after being forced to wear gloves for my entire pedicure that she wash her hands after touching her face. read more

I am adding this review because 2 days ago a friend and I had a very unsatisfactory and honestly unprofessional experience at this salon. We told them it was our first visit, we gave them pictures of what we wanted, and still were completely insulted with the results of our dip & nail art manicures. And my friends pedicure was more of "blotting on" the color instead of "painting" the nails... it was just ridiculous. I asked for a refund, I sent pictures and requested a "fix" appointment for a time and date to fix the polish before I go out of town this Thursday - and I even left a voicemail - and still no response in over 48 hours since the appointments. My group and I had very mixed reviews of this nail salon. 3 out of 4 of us got the nail services we wanted, the fourth however, the bride, had an awful time and paid $170. It was bad enough her first manicure turned out a warped and horrible French manicure, when she had asked for an ombre French manicure. I will say the manager was very sweet and fast! And managed to redo the manicure, before we needed to leave, in 20 mins, she was great! The pedicure was done by the first person who had done the bad French manicure (because we all started with the pedicures first) and the pictures below are of the bad pedicure. We hadn't noticed until it was too late and we were back in Indiana, how poorly it had turned out. This is not acceptable and she is getting her toes redone here at home. There's nothing worse to a customer then to walk into a place and feel unwelcome. I came here tonight at 6:05PM, knowing they close at 7:00PM. And specifically asked, "Do you have time for a pedicure and a buffer natural manicure?" Yes, was the response and two women who looked like thru were just being served a life prison sentence started to work on my hands and feet. This is not how you treat a customer spending $75 + without even a tip. This place 1) is in the middle of some kind of remodel and looks unkempt 2) was deserted with one other customer. The staff, including the receptionist, who was barely polite enough to greet me let alone anything else was just miserable. -Forlorn, upset to have to be working there and not remotely friendly at all that's how I would describe this staff. I'm shocked! I remember when this place opened after Europa books went away and they were so great. What has happened to this place? The (Senior Nail Artist) woman who did the manicure basically closed me out the minute she finished and insisted I tip her via Venmo immediately. The second woman was upset that I asked for attention be paid to callus removal and I said I would pay extra, to which the look on her face was like I shot her dog. I came here since it was nicer then Center Nails next door as it was clean, really clean not this sawdust looking place that it now resembles. What a shame. You're in the Gold Coast where customer service is demanded but regardless you should treat people better. After this experience, I don't think i would want to come here again and give them my money, clearly they don't care anyway. If the owner reads her Yelp reviews I hope she takes this to heart. Was just bragging about how my manicure has already lasted 2 weeks and I have cooked, washed dishes, cleaned, on the go. Everything about this salon is amazing. I've lived in the area for a while and walk by everyday. I usually go to a shop on Dearborn but New Age has won me over! I made a last minute appointment for 5:30 pm on a Saturday with first available tech which was super easy to book on their website. I had originally booked for extensions with dip powder. They had called around 4:45 saying they were ready for me whenever so I could pop over earlier if I wanted. I live in walking distance and wasn't busy prior so I headed over early and got there around 5. The inside was small but very clean and smelled like a high end spa (only complaint I have was that the lights were very bright fluorescents i'm just weird about that but i'm sure it's not a bother to most.) Annie was super sweet and asked to see a picture of what I was looking for color/design wise so she could help I showed her a photo of a very deep cherry red and she did great picking a color match it's not exact but I think I like this color even more (OPI "I'll Have a Manhattan".) She suggested that I do builder gel instead of the dip due to my nail size. She was very candor that it would be more expensive than dip but I had never tried builder gel and trusted her so I went for it. Spent $55 on a no-chip manicure only to have the polish change shape, come off, and get all over me at dinner just 4 hours later. Went back to get it fixed and it was determined the gel didn't fully dry. Got them re-done, here we are 8 hours later on the same day and the polish is starting to "move" and change shape which is exactly what happened in the first place. The ladies are nice but the polish they use for the no-chip and/or the UV light they use to dry the polish is not good quality. I came in on a Friday because I had an event the next day but by the time I got home all of the shops close to me would be closed. So, I gave this shop a chance and I wish I'd just done my nails myself. I had a young girl who did my nails and she took off the old nails I had on and as she took them off and began to file my real nails, she filed them so much that I began to see cracks in my nails which means they are going to eventually break. She also put on 2 fake nails because I had 2 nails that were super short so she had to give them length and one of the nails is on crooked .. add to it its not even a week later and I've lost 3 nails! they've all broken off! Overall, the nail salon looks cute. I had an issue with a specific nail tech - Silvia. I have had my nails done (extensions & powder) for many years but this is the worst they have looked. Extremely thick and not desired shape. I asked to fix few things during the appointment and she said no, because she didn't have time and just kept on working on my nails. Very rude every time i pointed something out. It has been a little over a week and they look like I've had them for 4 weeks (they look extremely grown out by now). Would not recommend. They are also 20+ more than any other nail place in the area. Not worth it. Will be going back to 312 nails even though it is a 20 more min walk for me. read more

I went to this Nail Salon 3 years ago and felt it was just okay. They were over priced but got the job done quickly. Going back today, they definitely still don't take their time. My manicure cost a hefty price of $20 (they didn't even soak my cuticles before cutting). The place has just been remodeled (10 manicure spots, 10 pedicure spots, AND ONLY TWO DRYERS). After only 5-8 minutes under the dryer, my manicurist told me I needed to be done and made me move from the dryer so someone else could use it.
