I came here because I was in desperate need of a mani/pedi after this whole quarantine. Three months is was to long. Everyone was super welcoming and very happy to see every customer that came in the door. Joy made sure she acknowledged everyone. I called ahead for an appointment (luckily they had an availability then ). They scan your temperature upon arrival, the pedicure stations have dividers as well as the nail stations. You have to wear your mask during the visit. So happy self care businesses are able to open again and I'm very happy with my mani/pedi (3 days and no chipping on my manicure = success for me)! read more

First time visiting this place, came in as a walk in.. finally after my aunt raved about it for so long (and she's pretty picky). Was quite crowded but I was greeted so well and got seated for my service immediate (pedicure).. everyone was so friendly and the owner Joy was very attentive. I love that they put the plastic inside the pedicure tub as extra cleanliness. The pedicure was amazing start to finish.. I received a warm neck massager and even got a hot stone foot rub for my basic pedicure and I was just amazed.... just an overall great experience. Unfortunately my gel manicure experience was not the same as my gel pedicure experience and I really wish I took a better look at nails before leaving so that I could've spoken up. Jenny did my nails and I'm torn as to whether I'd return and give them a second chance. She seemed rushed to get my nails done and left me with some uneven nails and a messy gel polish application. When I got my pedicure they brought out tools that were sterilized in the sealed bag and she didn't do this. My cuticles look a bit ragged in some spots and she also cut me on one of my fingers when she was cutting my cuticles and did not use a disinfectant on the cut, only alcohol at the end when wiping the gel polish. She never buffed before the gel polish or had me wash my hands of the dust the filing left behind which I thought was odd as I know that is usually standard protocol with a gel manicure in order to have clean nails for the gel application. I tried to let this stuff go but when I really got a good look at my hands when I got to my car I noticed crooked nails and messy polish around my cuticles on both hands. To top it all off one of my thumb nails started chipping the following afternoon. The manicure I do on myself looks better than what she did so that's saying something. I was kind of sad cause after doing my own manicures for the past couple of months (growing out nails from damaging acrylics) I decided to treat myself to the gel manicure ahead of my birthday so that my nails would be professionally done and would look good, or so I thought. I'm not sure I would go back considering this must be their manicure standard but if I do I would definitely have someone else do my manicure. I heard of this nail salon through a few clients as the best place to get your nails done in Montclair. I've been looking for a local place for some time and finally decided to stop in and I'm glad I did! I walked in from the pouring rain and right away the woman who turned out to be the owner rushed right over to help me with my umbrella. I asked if they had time to accommodate a gel pedicure and they sat me right away. Maria did my pedi and I will be back to see her. She was gentle but thorough and meticulous. I also have to say she took her time and did not rush! I actually had to cut the time short because I had to get to work and I was so sad because I had to tell her not to massage my feet and legs at the end, but I could tell as she applied some lotion on me (so I wouldn't leave with dry skin) she would've given me a nice, firm massage. Including removal of my old gel polish, if I had let her do the full massage my pedi would've been almost 90mins long! Definitely worth every single penny! The shape and polish were perfect as well. On a side note, one of their regular clients sat next to me in the pedi chair and I saw her grown out gel manicure that she was about to freshen up. I asked her if she had done her gel manicure here previously and she said yes and that it was 6 weeks old. Well let me tell you, the only way you would know was because of her nail growth otherwise there was no chipping, peeling or breakage on that gel mani! So not only will I be back for my pedi but I will add the gel mani as well because if it looks that good after so long then I'm sold! read more

It lasted so long and was much better than my normal place even though it was more expensive. I went back again expecting the same result and the nails literally popped of within 2 days of me arriving on my vacation. I went back a third time looking for the first tech and complaining what my experience was. I was serviced and given 10% off. Again within days the nails all popped off. I do not recommend the SNS, so please do not waste 47 dollars on it. I went into this place kind of by accident, since I normally go to Montclair nails and I couldn't remember the exact address anymore & Nails 2000 is right down the street. Anyways, I really enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere and the spa treatment (scrub massages with peppermint oil for both legs, feet, and hands and two short back massages). However, I was disappointed with the actual manicure. Rosa, who did my nails was very nice, but she had a very strange technique that left my nails bumpy and parts of my skin colored as well as parts of the nail unpolished. Therefore, I feel supremely relaxed, but thinking that I could have done a better job with the polish. Too bad. The ladies at the salon were very nice & they had a great deal (mani & pedi for $30). I genuinely enjoy this salon, I have visited twice already after experiences the most unsanitary salons years past. This salon will give you a great spa experience. I consider myself a new customer and the owner recognized that as well, she is very friendly, welcoming and organized to make sure everyone gets taken care of. I raved so much that on my second visit I brought in my mother and little sister. My second experience though, gave me some mixed emotions about their staff. The majority of the staff and customers that come in are female, there is only one or two male staff members that I have seen to work here. During today's visit at the salon, the only male employee working that day wasn't doing anything besides giving the female customers sitting at their stations getting their hands done shoulder/neck massages. It was my turn after a lovely pedicure that i sit and get my manicure, the same only male employee approached behind me as soon as I sat down to give me the "complimentary" massage (later learning it isnt complimentary, they add it to your bill once you pay.) I respectfully declined and waited to get my nails done. 20 minutes pass and they sit my mother next to me while my sister is still getting her pedi, the male employee approaches my mom from behind as soon as she's seated and grabs her hair to move it aside to start massaging. My mom is too shy to say anything so I asked if she was comfortable with him doing this she said no and respectfully declined. I noticed him consistently just approaching the female customers and start massaging them without asking a simple "may i?" or "would you like a shoulder massage?" instead of completely getting caught off guard and having a random male start rubbing our shoulders. Some female customers are okay with this, to each their own but myself, my mother and other female customers in the store agreed that we would prefer being asked for consent to be massaged especially if we are being charged at the end. As my mother and I are adults and can tell someone "No, Thank you", "Yes, Thank you"... my 10 year old sister does not yet have the social skills to tell random strangers that this does not feel comfortable as she is A CHILD. I was keeping my awareness up watching this male employee only doing one thing and it was just approaching female customers to give massages. I saw him try to give my sister a massage and immediately shut it down! I said "No, no, no absolutely not, she is A CHILD, do not touch her, its f*ck*ng WEIRD!" and the employee threw his hands up in the air and walked away. I understand the ambiance of the nail salon and they want to give their customers a calming spa experience. But you simply can't go up to female clients and start touching them without a heads up or consent, especially on children that come in there with their parents! After ruining my time at this establishment, I spoke with the owner and asked "does he do anything besides massage people without asking and sit in the back on his phone? because thats all he seems to be doing." the owner was trying to descalate the situation and say "oh maybe he didn't know" I then said "really? he doesn't know how to ask people for permission? If he doesn't know then I can go talk to him and teach him a thing or two." The owner apologized on his behalf again. I made it aware to the owner that if that is his ONLY job here then he needs to learn how to ask people kindly for permission instead of making people uncomfortable and to know better than he shouldn't just be approaching a MINOR with their parents and older sibling, who already declined him twice, What makes him think it is okay to do it to our baby girl??? . I already do not like people touching me especially strangers, if anyone enjoys it when they are experiencing this at salons then to each their own. I explained to the owner that i genuinely like coming here, i love their work and sanitary service after working 6 days a week and treating myself, being able to trust that they will always do a good job, but there are situations like this that will throw people off. I want to give this place another chance and be a loyal customer but I am now skeptical. read more

My original review is below, but I initially gave this salon 2 stars. So after I posted my original review I shared with whom I believe is the owner or manager my dissatisfaction with my nails and that I do not intend to come back. She looked at my nails & sat me down with another manicurist - Lisa. The owner told Lisa that my left hand was fine and to only fix my right. Lisa pointed out that the other technician failed to reshape my nails after she did the powder. She took the horrible top coat off and filed/ buffed out the imperfections. I showed her my left hand and she immediately started fixing it. One nail didn't dry fully and got a little messed up while I was getting in my car but at that point I just wanted to get home. I buffed and redid the top coat when I got home. Other than that one nail on my left hand I am very happy with my manicure. Although disappointed that it took over three hours and the original incident, the customer service and effort to remedy the situation is why I added 2 more stars. Original Review: Don't get Dip Powder here. I'm still here & my nails look like globs. I explained that I was unsatisfied & was basically ignored. Janny/Jenny tried to pacify me. She didn't clean my hands so I still have my old dip powder on my hands, my nails are different shapes, length and sizes, I wasn't asked to wash my hands, she didn't even put lotion on. The top coat she used on my right hand is streaking. I was moved before she even finished so they can work on someone else while I dry. Finally for their dip powders, they have a poor color selection as seen in the picture. I came here because my salon had an emergency and closed for the week. I will not be back.
