Wow I actually really like this nail salon a lot. I found it by accident coming home from a restaurant in Bloomfield. It's small and narrow inside, and the parking lot is just about the same (small, tight... hard to back up!) They have a lot of colors for gel manicures - a lot of OPI colors too, the good ones. This can make it hard to come to a decision, but its nice to have ~options~ The tech who did my nails was ultra detail oriented. While I get basic gel manicures, I was appreciative of the time she took to really get my cuticles cut and nails filed. There were people waiting at the time of my visit, but I never felt like she was rushing to get my manicure done. All in all, if I lived closer to Glen Ridge, I'd probably come here more often! read more

If I could give less than one star I would. Generally, they use Inferior gel products that peel after a day; Poor workmanship; They make insulting, snide remarks to me and give some clients great treatment while myself they don't seem to want to serve. They even assumed I could not afford the style I asked for because it was "very expensive" and cost $3 dollars more- and they told me this to my face. After trying them over and over again and giving them the benefit of the doubt for months, I can no longer make excuses for them treating me differently. This owner and her staff are not interested in providing equal service to persons of color. Beware and forewarned- I will never give another dime to this establishment. Had to have gel removed and the nail tech used an electric drill rather than soaking with acetone. Usually fine with this technique (whatever works) but the tech had no idea how to use the drill and had the setting way too strong and was using the edge of the drill to get off tricky parts. This resulted in my nails being paper thin to the point that they hurt. Additionally, they are completely uneven and have divots in them where the edge of the drill was used. Because my nails were so thin and uneven, the manicure began chipping after 1 day. read more

I travel an hour away to frequent this nail salon and I never go on the weekends but I had my son graduation the next day so I gave it a shot. I have referred many people here and I bring my husband and children often. On 6/11/21 I decided to bring myself and my daughter for gel pedicures, gel mani, sns, and my daughter also got her brows waxed. My daughter has let the owner wax her brows many times before with no issue but on this day someone else did them. (That's never a good idea stick to who and what you know) After spending a good amount of time in the back I knew something was going to go wrong. My daughter comes out and her brows are extremely red but never did I think what would appear the next day would happen to her. Her skin is now completely burnt over her eyes and she doesn't want to leave the house. I'm so unhappy with this experience and because of this I won't be back. I spend good money here often! $200 to be exact for everything. I should never leave a nail salon unhappy spending that kind of money and having this horrible experience. My nails were not up to par like they have been in the past and my daughters feet and brows were horrible. I've been coming here for years but one bad experience has ruined it for me. I'm not sure where all these new workers came from but they need to be trained better. I won't even start will the nail photos because this brow situation says enough. I was told by one of the workers that I could come another day to fix my nails... My daughter also notified me that the wax was applied to the same area twice. This is more than likely how she was burnt. I travel to far and spend too much to have these types of mistakes. read more

Still new in town--went here a couple weeks ago and Alexandra did my nails. She was very sweet, and quick while paying attention to the details. I felt the warm atmosphere was quaint and even though I had walked in and it was not too busy the seats quickly filled up during the time I was getting my nails done. I have yet to get a pedicure here--being new in town I tried a few different nail places and was sadly let down by all I've tried so far except for Glen Ridge Nails. This is the closest to my house, my manicure lasted a week in great condition, and the prices are right. I look forward to going back and having Alexandra make my nails beautiful once again--and everyone getting a pedicure looked like they were in heaven. A regular pedicure includes the hot stone massage so I will be adding that to my to-do list in the very near future! Will update review as I try more services :) Side note - their private lot is small, but there is parking allowed on the side street and on Bloomfield Ave in front of the lot. The other businesses in the strip can make the lot fill up fast--so if its raining, be prepared with an umbrella! read more

I went for the first time today and enjoyed this nail salon. -- I called when they opened at 9:30 and made an appointment for 10:00. Glad I did, because all chairs were full when I arrived. I would suggest making an appointment although they do take walk-ins. -- I got a gel manicure and a pedicure. My one issue with this place: while I did see technicians do something with their tools after a client or two, it doesn't seem to me that they spend much time sterilizing them. That being said, the salon itself is small and could generally use a bit more cleaning but was not overall dirty in my opinion. Just something to be conscious of. Hmm. -- The gel manicure turned out very nice... Extra coat of color before top coat, no bubbles or smudges. My only issue with the hands is that I wish they spent more time doing regular manicure maintenance for me (cuticles in particular .. I do wish she trimmed mine prior to applying gel, though they aren't noticeably too messy). She did recommend a color for me when I asked for a pinky neutral and it is perfect - OPI Bubble Bath -- The pedicure was good as well. She spent a lot of time cleaning off dead skin and trimming cuticles and shaping nails. I did a neutral on my toes as well and she added an extra coat of polish without me asking so that it was more opaque. The hot stone addition was nice, though the stones themselves were not very hot. The massage left something to desire ... It wasn't much of a leg massage and she barely touched my feet (which is where I really would've loved a bit of massage) Overall I will be returning to this salon and would recommend to other people. My gel manicure and pedicure were worth the $55 together and I think that my few small issues could be resolved if I voice a bit more opinion next time. I did enjoy my time there... Nice place with quick service. There is a tiny parking lot but I was able to get a spot. They use gloves for the pedicure but the woman didn't change her gloves from client to client, so to me if defeats the purpose. Also, no tub liners for the pedicure bowls. PEOPLE OF COLOR BEWARE !!!! As soon as I walked in, no one greeted me. In fact, after waiting for a few minutes a woman walked up to me asking, "What do you want?". I was taken aback and told her I wanted a gel pedicure. She told me to come on and sat me in the chair. Now, I picked this place after reading reviews that the pedicures come with hot stone messages. As i was getting my pedicure done, I saw other people getting their hot stone message as well. As if the dirty looks weren't enough, (obviously they are not used to seeing many people of color in their salon) she completely bypassed much of what I was supposed to receive as part of my pedicure. She rushed through it, got annoyed when I asked for my toes to be square, and acted as if she didn't want to be bother. Now I don't care how snobby they want to act, even though they are considered glen ridge, they are not even a minute away from bloomfield, and the more populated part of bloomfield ave. She barely wanted to put lotion on my legs and wiped them with a hot towel for one minute. What really bothered me was when she saw me looking at the other ladies getting their stone massages, she then preceded to pull my pants legs down, as if telling me that would not be an option. I would like to repeat, i already knew a regular pedicure came with the hot stone massage. I knew they were discriminating against me, but that action solidified everything! My pedicure is less than average, nothing special. When i was getting up to leave, she told me $40. that is steep for a gel pedicure being all the places surrounding them charge $25-35. then once we got to pay another lady interrupted, looked at me and blatantly said "for her is $45". i scoffed and gave her my card and she asked me to sign. once I paid, she barely said thank you, but awkwardly hung around me as if waiting for a tip. Like i would tip after experiencing that level of discrimination. I saw a previous review from another woman of color stating she felt they discriminated against her as well and that is all I need to go to the BBB. Nice quiet place, but prices are mediocre and their attitudes are plain old nasty. read more

I went to glen ridge nails and asked for a gel manicure. I asked for coral nails with a single gold stripe. I was told I couldn't get a gold stripe and that I would have to get a sticker at a store.....okay. Shape and cute was good! Halfway through the woman who was doing my nails called someone else over and I had someone else finish my nails halfway through. They looked good but I was sad about the small detail I had in my mind. Not even a week later I noticed my nails started to get darker and even brown?! I paid $30 for a gel manicure that browned and looked bad in just a week. A bit disappointed and not impressed sadly. read more

I recently moved into the area, so I am trying out different salons to choose the best one. Positive notes & reason for 1 star: I'm extremely particular about hair and nails, and I received a pretty decent pedicure in the end. Nicely manicured and polished. The other positive, gel manicure is $30 (least expensive I've experienced in the area thus far) However! When I walked into the salon no one greeted me. I had to grab the attention of who I later found out to be the owner/shop manager. Mind you, I called prior to ensure availability... She asked what service I needed while barely making eye contact. I explained that I had called for a gel mani and pedicure. No recognition after having spoken to me just 15 minutes prior. Only after I stood, uncomfortable in the corner, for a few minutes did she offer a seat (which was around the bin from the entrance where I couldn't initially see) Another patron walked in for a pedicure and she was immediately attended to. In fact, I pointed out that I was next for the pedicure and was told "sorry you'll have to wait." Unfortunately, I felt discriminated against. Although I received a decent pedicure, the tech was very busy chatting with the other girls which disrupted my experience. Vanessa, who completed my manicure was personable and nice-- she should invest her time in a better salon Nail200 (not exactly sure if that the entire name) on Bloomfield Ave in Montclair has much better service (Joy, the owner is amazing!) and a MUCH better pedicure (especially if you can get Isabella to do yours)! I've been going to this salon for many many years and obviously it has been a pleasant experience. The staff works quickly and it always professional even in the busy season (hello summer!) I have never been given the bums rush at this salon the way a lot of busy salons do. I've also never had a crappy manicure or pedicure. I've got a special affection for Laura and Jasmine. Thanks girls! I'm still giving this salon five stars even though the owner gets weird if you want to use a debit card for a simple manicure. This place is small so I can see why appointments are a good idea. I was lucky when I got there today I was able to be seen right away. I wanted a regular pedicure and a color gel manicure. The regular pedicure: the lady took her time and did a wonderful job. For $20 you get a good scrub, a good long leg & foot massage then they finish it off with a hot stone rub! Amazing! The gel manicure: $25 the lady really took her time shaping and cleaning up my nail before applying the gel. This also included a nice long hand massage. The prices are pretty cheap considering all that's included with the service. I will definitely make this my go to spot! I've lived here for 3years. Moving out here from Brooklyn and I would always go back into NY just to get great service at a good price until now!! I've finally found a place worth it! read more

I love this place. They always make me feel so comfortable when I walk in. I usually get a gel manicure and it lasts up to 2.5 weeks. My pedicures always come out fantastic and they give a hot stone massage after massaging your legs. Amazing. The only downside I would say is that they don't scrub very well at the bottom of the feet and they don't take credit card tips. Only cash. They also take good care of you if you come back and accidentally chip a nail or mess a nail up. They are very good to their customers read more

Called Glen Ridge Nails around 5pm on a Thursday and the woman who answered was super friendly and knew exactly what I wanted. I really wanted to go get my nails done that night and even though they were busy she fit me on to the schedule. I really appreciated that she fit me in! And I was pleasantly surprised with how my nails turned out. 6 days later and still pretty happy with the job that was done! Maybe a little pricier than other places but not by much and it's worth it for great looking nails plus a quick massage while your nails dry is customary. Got a pedi for the first time today and the work was great, hot stone massage, exfoliating leg rub and lotion is a nice touch also. All the ladies are friendly. Alec is awesome in skill and demeanor. I would give them 10 stars if I could! They always are friendly and do such a great job! I have been on a hunt for a nail salon for so long and I found it! I have been getting gel manicures for almost 7 years and no matter what they would chip- sometimes after a week. Not at glen ridge nails! The last manicure I got lasted almost more than a month! I had knee surgery a month ago and needed a pedicure sooooo bad after about a month and a half. I went in today and asked for my usual gel manicure and just a polish change on my toes if possible because I cannot sit in the pedicure chair or bend my knee yet. The manicurist, Sandra, went above and beyond. She literally got me a step stool for me to place my feet on and sat on the floor, not only did a polish change, cut, filed and put lotion on me. I felt terrible and kept telling her it was okay she didn't need to do it but she did and it was so sweet. I hate my nails being a mess and being immobile right now I am uncomfortable enough and it meant so much for her to do what she could to help me. 10 stars for this salon and Sandra!!
