This visit wasn't quite at that same level, but I still enjoyed the experience overall. This time, I ordered a hot caramel latte and a rosemary brown sugar latte. The presentation was fine, and the café itself is aesthetically pleasing. I especially enjoyed the lower level filled with hanging plants, which creates a relaxing, zen atmosphere that's perfect for studying, reading, or catching up with friends. The cashier was friendly and accommodating, and the café was very clean overall. My only criticism was with the drink preparation. While we were waiting, it seemed like the espresso and milk were ready, but the drinks sat for a few minutes while conversations continued behind the counter before they were finished. As a result, the coffee wasn't as hot as it could have been by the time we received it. I was also a little disappointed with the rosemary brown sugar latte. I was really looking forward to that flavor combination, but I could barely taste either the rosemary or the brown sugar. It felt like there was only a hint of the flavoring, so the drink came across more like a regular latte than the specialty drink I had ordered. Overall, I would definitely come back because I know how great Hydra Coffee can be. My first visit was outstanding, and I know they're capable of making exceptional coffee. The atmosphere is relaxing, the staff is friendly, and I appreciate the unique drink menu. I'm hoping this visit was just an off day because I look forward to giving them another try.

It's a relaxing spot to sit outside, watch the boats pass by, and catch the lift bridge in action. You could easily spend an hour there with a drink and forget about the time. We ordered iced chais, which were excellent, but the real surprise was the food. We weren't quite sure what to expect from a coffee shop serving burritos, but wow, were we wrong. We ordered two Clem Burritos, one vegetarian and one with brisket. They were absolutely packed with ingredients and loaded with flavor. Every bite seemed to have a little bit of everything: beans, rice, pico, pickled cabbage, salsa, crema, and plenty more. The combination of flavors and textures worked incredibly well. The crema and salsa were both fantastic, although we definitely would have appreciated a little more of each. Now for the funniest part of the meal: the side of chips. The menu says the burrito comes with chips, and technically it does. As you can see from my photo, we received exactly three chips. Not a handful. Not a small pile. Three individual chips. The funny thing is, they were really good chips. We wanted more of them! It felt like the kitchen accidentally stopped counting at three and decided that was enough. Hopefully they'll revisit the portion size because it's the only thing that felt out of place in an otherwise excellent meal. That said, we're definitely not holding the Great Three-Chip Incident against them. The patio is wonderful, the drinks are great, and the burritos were far better than we ever expected. We'll absolutely be back.

Tree Town Cafe is one that I wouldn't have found if I didn't see it on a list of Rochester coffee shops. I feel like this cafe is sort of a hidden gem. I've been here twice-- once in the summer for an evening dinner on the patio, and most recently for a cozy study session in the winter. It's open decently late (for a coffee shop in Rochester) on weekdays (7pm), which is perfect for studying. They have plenty of parking in their parking lot. Their outdoor seating is placed directly in front of their building with plenty of shade, or in the grassy area next to the parking lot. It seems to be a kid-friendly cafe as well, since they have play areas. They have a cute indoor shop with food-related gifts like baked goodies, coffee, chocolate bars, and even dog treats. The service was wonderful, and they were very willing to make a call to the baker to check my allergies. There's not a lot of indoor seating, but it was enough to find a spot to study. The space heater in the small room was essential, although it got a little cool next to the glass once it started to get dark. As I mentioned, they do have free WiFi.
