The sell team is good in the sense that it was pressure free but that's were the service and caring about you stops. I got my solar installed in June and had to wait for city inspection which happened a few weeks later. Aterwhich everything was approved and system should have been good to go. So I thought system wasn't producing I noticed it and reached out to company and they were like 2 to 3 weeks before someone could come out mind you the system was just installed and there was no follow up from company on how things were. Anyway someone came by look at the system and couldn't find problem and again had to wait a few weeks for someone to come out the whole summer months was lost it wasn't till end of Sept that I was finally resolved and that's even with me reaching out to said owner Jason Cain I believe was his name he was a joke didn't take any of my concerns nor was it the 1st time I've spoken to him. That's another issue my wife and I took on this project a few days before our oldest sons wedding and just after the wedding we talked more about it with our tax accountant and it was suggested we wait till we resolved some issues before doing the solar so we were thinking we resolved that and do solar once resolved nope nationwide contract only gives you 3 days from signing to get out with no penalties. Mind you it was the Monday or Tuesday maybe 5 days out and they were like it will cost you 10% of project already started which nationwide had projected to be if I remember correctly was 6000 to 8000. This company won't care about you once you sign the and they have what they want you are considered trash. Plus they will try and sell you a year later on some tax company that will save you money that's all they want from you. I will continue to spread the word about nationwide and the horrible ways of them but thank you to the sales rep that kept in touch with me and my wife even when all the everyone else lied about things .

Going solar was problematic for me: 1) I live in a townhome and solar companies don't like trying…read moreto deal with the neighbor--which turned out to be a problem 2) I have another house in another city with a tenant and I finally had to put the bill in my name to get the paperwork needed. 3) I decided to go with a Home Equity Line of Credit so I ended up signing and canceling the financing they set up several times. I also had a lot of questions about the equipment they use. They were responsive to all my questions and issues. Once the paperwork was completed the installs were both completed in one day. The inspector, who was the head inspector for my area, said they did a great job. As soon as the power company switches out my meter, I'll be good to go.

Update following the company's response:…read more I want to clarify one point raised in the owner's reply so readers understand the concern accurately. Yes, I mentioned that I would prefer the panels be placed on the rear of the home if possible. That was simply an aesthetic preference and not a design requirement. I relied on the company's expertise to determine whether that placement would still allow the system to reasonably meet the goals discussed during the sales process. I also want to be clear that the system functioning is not the issue. We appear to agree that the equipment is producing energy as designed. The production numbers themselves have never been what I questioned. The concern I raised relates to how the system size and expectations were presented during the sales process. When we explored going solar, the conversations centered around offsetting most or all of our electric bill, which was the primary reason we decided to move forward with a $20,000 installation. If it had been clearly communicated that the system was intended to be a smaller "starter system" that would only offset a portion of our electricity usage, we likely would have approached the decision differently or waited until we had a longer utility history available. Another important point is that no written proposal or modeling documentation outlining the assumed household usage or projected offset was ever provided prior to signing. Because those design assumptions were never shared with us in writing, it has been difficult to understand how the system size was determined relative to our expected energy needs. As a result, we are now paying a monthly solar loan while still carrying a meaningful electric bill, which is not the outcome we understood or expected when making this investment. At this point, I have shared my experience and clarified the concerns raised. I do not intend to continue a public back-and-forth discussion on this review. My purpose in posting this update is simply to provide context so other homeowners researching solar know to request clear written modeling and offset assumptions before making a significant investment.

We ended up speaking with several of the big solar installers and another couple smaller ones. They all wanted us to take huge low interest loans to buy a lower quality system than what we got with Smart Solar Energy. Smart Solar Energy allowed is to choose the equipment we wanted at no extra cost, and the overall cost was less than half what many others were trying to sell us. The install was delayed by a day because of illness then some paperwork wasn't left requiring a few extra days during install, but other than that they were great to work with and I highly recommend Smart Solar Energy.

Elemental Energy has been outstanding in post customer care. In the eight years since I've had my system, I've only had two issues which were properly taken care of. The project manager in 2008 was absolutely awful. Poor communication and someone quit so my project got pushed to no-man zone- no one was taking care of my project or communicating clearly about what was going on. I didn't write a review in 2008 because I was upset about the process. However, eight years later, the install is absolutely fantastic and the product has held up really well. Our house was built in the late 1960's. Which means that the outlet plugs and other components that were installed back then (over 50 years ago) have become brittle. Jostle them a bit and they can fracture. This happened to the circuit for the room on the other side of the Battery install. Apparently they jostled the wires running to one of those outlets and it fractured it, disabling that circuit. It being a guestroom, we didn't notice it right away. When we did, Elemental did not hesitate to step up. I would use Elemental Energy again if I needed any of their services in the future.
