I was extremely impressed with everyone I collaborated with at Elemental Energy. I felt they had our best interests in mind; always taking the time to answer questions and deliver quality customer service - from sales all the way through to the installers. I was quite frankly shocked at how simple the process was and quick the turnaround from signing up to install. Quite frankly I thought the process would take a year and it took less than six months from the day we started talking. I know Elemental had a lot to do with that. I appreciate their professionalism, educational approach and quality customer service. read more

The project went well, except for panel placement. We had indicated where we wanted the 19 panels placed to achieve the best solar exposure. However, when the project was completed, the 19th panel was placed near the back of the house, which is shaded by tall fir trees. We could have gotten better results, albeit the difference is not particularly great. If they had installed the panels as we had indicated, I would give them 5 stars. As it is, during the summer months, we are producing enough electricity to send it back into the grid for a small credit on our PGE bill. read more

I installed my solar in 2008. The people who installed it were amazing. Since 2008, every problem I've had with micro inverters, not working, issues with my panels, no output.... Elemental Energy has been outstanding in post customer care. In the eight years since I've had my system, I've only had two issues which were properly taken care of. The project manager in 2008 was absolutely awful. Poor communication and someone quit so my project got pushed to no-man zone- no one was taking care of my project or communicating clearly about what was going on. I didn't write a review in 2008 because I was upset about the process. However, eight years later, the install is absolutely fantastic and the product has held up really well. Plus the person who was so awful is likely gone so thinking you'll have a better experience than I did. I'm getting quotes on battery and they are the first person I called read more

Elemental Energy installed a photocell array on our roof a couple a years back. When we made the decision to install batteries as well, they were our only call. Our house was built in the late 1960's. Which means that the outlet plugs and other components that were installed back then (over 50 years ago) have become brittle. Jostle them a bit and they can fracture. This happened to the circuit for the room on the other side of the Battery install. Apparently they jostled the wires running to one of those outlets and it fractured it, disabling that circuit. It being a guestroom, we didn't notice it right away. When we did, Elemental did not hesitate to step up. I would use Elemental Energy again if I needed any of their services in the future. read more

Elemental Energy is the real deal. Helpful from step one all the way through the final walkthrough. Spencer, the consultant, is very knowledgeable about solar and its installation. He answered all questions patiently and knowledgeably. Robbie, the project manager we worked with, worked quickly to get permitting and scheduling the installation. The installation team was respectful of property and equipment and adept at the installation itself. Thanks, Elemental Energy! read more

This is one of the best companies I have ever worked with. Everyone was sup helpful, friendly and efficient. From initial sales, through multiple document signings and verifications, through installations and inspections this was a very smooth and informative process. And they had the best value of the three companies i got quotes from. The big national companies had hidden baked-in fees for fat cat execs and financing fees. I highly recommend this company. read more

Elemental is stellar. Spenser was awesome. The entire staff took great care of us. We are now one full year into our system and we love it. The estimate that Spenser provided us was very accurate regarding the expected annual kw's we could expect from the position of our home, the surrounding trees, and what Sun is available in Oregon during the year. Infact we actually earned 4 % more than the budget. We are VERY happy. WE recommend this company HIGHLY. And if we were to ever move to another place we would definitely invite these professional back to install another system. Being retired and on SSI our only regret is that we did not purchase the battery back-up system. Hopefully in a couple of years we can fix this situation. Again: E E is awesome. Elemental Energy completed the installation of a 30 PV panel, 8.7 kW system on our roof in November 2019. The company over delivered on their promises, was very professional, and customer-focused throughout the project. I strongly recommend Elemental Energy for home solar PV projects. The design drawings they developed were very detailed. Elemental Energy was very responsive providing quality information to all of my questions about the design. I was especially focused on the products and methods they proposed to use for roof penetrations, which were necessary to structurally attach the array frame to the roof rafters, in order to guard against future water intrusion. I also appreciated the effort to inconspicuously run conduit from the roof down to the PGE meter. Elemental Energy seamlessly managed the county permitting process, the Energy Trust of Oregon financial incentive contribution, and prepared my net metering agreement with PGE ... all I had to do was review and sign electronically. They even provided the IRS tax form for me to use when I prepare my income tax return and claim the federal tax credit. Also, there were no "extras" discovered during the work that increased my cost. The county approved the design and inspected the work upon completion without finding any issues. The installation itself only took two days of field work. Cleanup after the work was very thorough. Communications via email and phone from Elemental Energy throughout the entire process was exceptional; I always knew the status of the project and what would happen next and when. Although this time of year is a low generation period due to the late autumn season, I have been using the webpage Elemental Energy provided that allows me to monitor the PV system's performance in real-time. It has multiple ways of looking at the data and provides various reporting tools. It's all pretty intuitive and very impressive. Finally, they provided a 3-ring binder containing key information about the project and system, including the design drawings, owner's manual with product technical data sheets, contract documents, and warranties. read more

Friendly, professional, detailed explanation, return calls promptly, very good price.

YAY for solar energy and yay for the efficient and knowledgeable team at Elem Energy. From the first person to the last, everyone was on time, pleasant and knew their stuff. Allie, our initial contact gave us great info and put together a bid. She followed up and answered all our questions and rewrote the bid. Tom, the project manager got the plans, permits and organized the job. Torin installed, all done in one day. Nathan, the electrician and his team did the electrical work and also answered questions. Our panels were put up in January and already are producing watts! FREE electricity from the sun. The computer system, Envoy-S, that allows us to track the juice coming into the house is very cool. I would and will recommend them to anyone. read more

This company is extremely professional and affordable. They were very responsive long-after the panels were installed. They had women and POC on their crew. They worked fast and explained things to us every step of the way. They have their process down! Everyone was kind and smart. We've had our system for years, and everything has run perfectly. We also love that they run a non-profit that helps communities with energy independence. Literally, every single part of the experience with them was stellar. read more

Elemental Energy is professional from the first contact till the final hand over of the project. Kudos to Allie, Tom and the rest of the team for being excellent to deal with. We had a very easy, no pressure experience during the first part of our engagement with them. They designed the system, were very open to our suggestions. The install team were rock solid, very respectful of our property and left things cleaner than they found it. The handover process was smooth, Tom was helpful in answering the City inspectors questions and get our system turned on. We have had this system for over a year and we were so happy with them we got a second one for our another property. If you are thinking of going solar, reach out to this team. read more

Elemental provided a highly professional level of service and knowledge throughout the process of planning and installing our residential system. I was most impressed with their willingness to customize our product according to our current needs and plans for the future. Because of the tax incentives and Elemental's extensive knowledge and experience, we were able to not only install a beautiful solar array, but also include an otherwise costly electrical panel upgrade into the package. This allowed us the freedom to afford a big expense and get a jump start on our ADU project. Thank you Tom, Nathan, John, Laurel, and everyone else involved! read more

It wasn't until I met with Brandon and John from Elemental Energy that I realized that I had found the company I was looking for. First, these guys were the only ones who actually had degrees in Renewable Energy, meaning they knew what they were talking about. Second, they donated their time using their skills installing solar in Africa, using their passion for what they do and to help others in need. And third, in my opinion most importantly, they were local. The same people meeting with you to discuss solar are the same doing the installations, same managing the project, the same communicating with you. I don't want to undervalue their style of locality to Portland, specifically I appreciated their accessibility and flexibility for my needs. The install process happend quickly and these guys are so tough, that it actually started to snow while they were installing the panels on my roof! The electrical work was superb from their journeyman contractor who also took the care to consider our garden. Finally, it was the innumerable little things and intangibles, which made the decision of choosing Elemental the right one. They provided added value so far beyond our expectations. These are the guys which put you at ease while they are in your home or on your roof. I am grateful that we made the right decision going with Elemental! read more

I'm the home owner for the 2014 street of dreams where elemental energy was featured. The system is one of the largest residential solar arrays installed in Oregon. Enough energy for our home and car. We researched a number of vendors before choosing EE and we cannot be happier that we chose them. They have consistently provided exceptional service and have been very accommodating. The system has worked very well since installation. We have referred many people to them since they were one of the best vendors we worked with during our home construction process. Oh and there social missing to help underdeveloped countries is great as well. read more

EE installed a 35-panel array on our home on time and on budget! EE was not the only company I interviewed, but the polish and professionalism of Josh Little, my first contact person w/ EE, impressed me from the get-go! Josh surveyed our house for solar calculations and the next day I had a couple of detailed proposals specifying equipment, output, and bottom-line costs after incentives. This included a chart of projected $$ savings over time, as well as the carbon effect as compared to cars off the road, trees planted, etc. Josh provided multiple hardware options in an easy to understand way, which led me to make my informed decision. He knows the technology. Truly a joy working with all of their folks, from installers, electricians, carpenters, and Tom, the Project Manager. I had some personal issues of which stalled my final decision to proceed. EE showed Job's patience. No pressure. Thank you, EE! read more

Awesome experience with this team! Brandon was super helpful and put together many options for our home. We just had the panels installed and the process was quick and easy. The installation crew was super nice and professional and worked around our holiday travel schedule. The system itself is super straightforward. We should have done this when we bought the house years ago! But we're glad to have it now. And it was a financial no-brainer. Highly recommended. read more

We interviewed and researched several solar companies before settling on Elemental Energy in the fall of 2016. Because we are on an average per month payment plan it took a full cycle year to see the full results of our investment. Our utilities went from $26 per month to $5. With all the rebates from state and federal the final cost was well worth the investment. We found Elemental Energy very knowledgeable and would recommend them. read more

Elemental Energy just installed a solar array for my home. The experience was smooth and flawless from beginning to end. If you are considering adding solar to your energy source, I cannot recommend this company highly enough. Josh Little came out to Bid the project and do the initial design. I will call them when I need a car charger and a larger array as I convert more fully to electricity. read more

Have been very pleased with Elemental Energy from start to finish. The install was done ahead of schedule and in one day. Just got the switch flipped on my brand spanking new system and the panels are already producing more than our household is using! John and Brandon did great work from start to finish on everything from quoting out specs and helping me understand which incentive programs would be most beneficial, to making sure that the post-build paper work was fully taken care of with the city and PGE. I'm not sure why the lady below found it necessary to give 1 star for a small business to charge a fee on credit payments...I personally took out a very low interest rate loan from my bank that had no problem funding my system. By the time I get the tax credits back at the end of the year I'll be able to fully pay off my loan (problem solved). Thanks again to Elemental for a great install and experience! read more

Our lives crossed the path of John of Elemental Energy when he was a guest speaker at our son's senior-level engineering course at PSU. With our son's recommendation, we contacted Elemental Energy for an assessment for solar panels on our Tigard home. We were pleased to learn of the incentives offered to adding solar to homes in Oregon. John succinctly explained the costs, benefits, and incentives available with adding solar power; all without pressure. He made the whole process simple and straight-forward. Honestly, we cannot find a single reason to not install solar panels with Elemental Energy. We were very pleased with the service and installation of our solar panels. In less than a day, the competent, friendly, and professional team installed the panels just as promised. Now is a great time to take advantage of the incentives available in Oregon. I urge you to contact Elemental Energy .Today! read more

Found these guys online and had Mike come out to do a quote for solar on our house. Very personable guy and good proposals put together explaining costs, energy savings, etc. We also liked their engineering and social justice philosophy. As part of vetting out solar vendors, we of course got several other quotes, all of whom had no problem taking credit cards for payment same-as-cash. After all, these jobs require the homeowner to come up with $10-20K upfront, something that I know very few regular people just have sitting around in their checking account. Additionally, the other businesses all said (as most contractors do) to let them know if the price comes in competitively with others so they can try to meet/beat if possible. So we really liked Elemental, and I emailed to verify that they'd accept credit cards and he said they would charge us 2.75% more (about $400 difference) to cover their processing fee rather than absorb the cost. I let him know that the other vendors weren't charging an additional fee to accept a credit card and that if he was going to do that we weren't going to work with them. He didn't even provide the courtesy of a response, so because of that we're going with someone else and he just lost $14,000. BOO. read more

I had elemental energy install a solar system in December 2015. This is actually a second solar system for me. The first one was installed by solar city 5 years ago. Solar city did do a site visit but would not even give me a proposal for putting on a second system. Elemental energy responded promptly to my inquiry and were easy to work with. I was satisfied with their work and the ability to integrate the second system into my existing system. They also placed the wiring for a back up Tesla battery, so that can be installed when available. I have no reservations in recommending them. read more

Elemental energy did a great job of installing our solar panels. Their sales were professional with good visuals. The installation was quick, and although we had an issue through no fault of theirs, they leapt into action to resolve things, and continued with great follow up. We also discovered that a couple of the panels reflected light back into our eyes when looking at sunset views. They came back and moved them at cost. Highly recommend them. read more

I did a lot of research into various companies providing solar installations -- roughly 10 companies, both local and national. Elemental Energy stood far above them all in just about every aspect. Elemental was very quick to respond to my initial consultation request on their website, where some other companies didn't respond for weeks! Elemental was very friendly and amiable where some other companies' representatives were, for lack of a better term, socially awkward. Elemental was prompt and professional where some other companies showed up to a consultation appointment a half hour late with no warning or explanation. Elemental was very easy to communicate with, forthcoming with information when I asked questions, and great at explaining very technical details in an understandable, simple manner. Some other companies made me feel like I was pulling teeth. Elemental was respectful of my privacy and not at all pushy on the sales front where some other companies incessantly emailed and called me on the phone trying to win my business back after I'd already told them 'no'. Ugh. Elemental was incredibly quick to install everything. The panels and electrical wiring were physically in place only 10 days after me signing the contract, and it was completed within the span of a single day. Other companies gave me estimates as high as 6 months before they would be able to begin construction. Elemental's employees have been directly involved with non-profit organizations that work to provide clean water and energy to developing nations around the world. It felt pretty great personally to support a business whose members do such work. And perhaps most objectively, Elemental's quote was less than almost every other quote I received for a comparable system, often significantly so. One company offered a lower bid, but they had .... other problems. (see above) The system's online now, supplementing my power. Everything went so smoothly! I would recommend Elemental Energy to anyone interested in solar power. Call them now, tell them I sent you! :) read more

Elemental installed our solar power system in January 2016. The process was easy and affordable. Its a very transparent process from bid to final walk through. The work was done quickly and professionally. We felt our 1923 bungalow was in good hands with these contractors. Overall, a seamless and easy process and I recommend elemental without hesitation. It would be great to see some women and/or people of color on the job, so I hope elemental will consider hiring from some of the great local resources (Oregon Tradeswomen, NAMCO, etc). Not a problem at all, just a friendly suggestion! read more

I own a duplex with good sun exposure. Elemental Energy was one of my bids. It was not the cheapest overall, but it was the best bid in terms of meeting my expectations. They installed a system that is expected to create 99% of the electricity used by my tenants. I am now charging them more rent to recover my costs. With Energy Trust rebates and tax incentives, I expect my investment to be paid in full in less than 7 years. Elemental Energy kept their appointments, worked quickly and efficiently, left a clean work zone, and walked me through the entire process. They were pleasant to not only me but my tenants and they went the extra mile needed to coordinate with all three parties. Great young professionals. I have no hesitation in recommending them. Mention my name when you sign a contract with them! As a landlord I am confident that this new revenue stream will be profitable. I can't say enough about how great this company has been! read more

Elemental installed a Tesla Powerwall 2 solar storage battery in our home. The crew was phenomenal, cleaning the work site at the end of both days of their installation, working with the city inspector, caring for our carpets and flooring, and keeping the disruption of our daily schedule to a minimum (we both work from home.) The installer walked me through the use of the Tesla app on my mobile phone so that we can monitor the functioning of the system anytime, anywhere. Our indoor cat is usually terrified of contractors, but the finicky feline realized quickly how good-natured and even-tempered the Elemental staff is. We recommend Elemental to anyone who is interested in going solar = they are the best! Jon and Lisa S. read more

The key question is: would I use them again if you had a chance? Without hesitation my answer is no, I would not. Multiple minor issues during the sales process and the products that soured the whole experience. December of last year I contacted four different solar installers through the Oregon Energy Trust website. Elemental Energy was the only one to come out to my property for a rooftop solar evaluation. Another installer wanted $150 just to come out and look at my property. Their estimate was very clear in breaking down the system production, costs, and tax credits. In addition they completed the installation that month so I qualified for the state and federal tax credits that year! There were some issues with new electrical code that had just gone into effect in my municipality along with a overzealous inspector that wanted everything done in a particular way that wasn't spelled out in the code. They patiently worked though the issues with the city to get the job completed. So far the system production has exceeded their estimates by a good margin, and on track to break even in under 3 years. read more

Interviewed 6 solar installers for the new construction. All fairly competent and similar prices. Elemental stood above since the first round. Solid knowledge, wide product selection, no pushy about upgrades and very cost conscious. Came out a tiny bit above lowest bid but amount of detail in planning was above and beyond all. Explained in detail how the whole process will work including permits and rebates etc (and it actually went exactly as planned). Coordinated with the roofer on their own and showed up on time every time. Even sent electrician on the weekend when we needed to reroute the wiring before texture application. Installation was fast and smooth, even painted all exposed conduits etc to make it look better on the roof. Everybody involved from Elemental were professional, courteous, on-time. Cleaned up after even tiny bits of wire insulation. One of the best subcontractors in a fairly involved project. Highly recommended! Ask for John as project coordinator! read more
