In all fairness, I did not go with this company, but I wanted to post something in this space to say that it really pays to shop around. Their quote was fully twice what other excellent upholsterers in New York City run! I pointed out the price differential to them and they were very nice, but inflexible, saying they guarantee their work (which they all do). Shop around, folks! More does not mean better. In fact, this sort of thing is like gentrification--driving prices up for everybody unnecessarily. Don't fall for it! read more

Nesco then quickly sent an invoice, answered all my questions and once they got the fabric picked up my chairs. I can't say enough about Nesco! The guys not only did an amazing job making my 20+ year old couch look better than brand new, but they were pleasant to work with the entire way. Rick was incredibly responsive to all my questions and concerns from start to finish and even sent me fabric swatches of the fabrics I was debating on without me having to ask. The pricing was incredibly reasonable compared to other companies, there were no hidden costs (Several other upholsterers stated that they would only give an estimate, but the 'real' cost would be determined AFTER they opened the couch up), and the work was done in the time promised. The guys who came to pick up & drop off the couch were wonderful as well, being very careful of everything. However, the real measure of quality for an upholsterer is obviously, the reupholstery... and it is AMAZING!!! Baruch took my 20 year old, very beat up, oddly shaped sectional and truly made it look better and more luxurious than when I originally purchased it. Rick helped guide me on the fabric choice (which was spot-on to what I had imagined and is an extremely high quality), but never tried to 'upsell' me to the most expensive options. They walked me through all the various options, stripped and repaired everything, and clearly did an excellent job making sure the 'new' couch will last another 20+ years! The fine workmanship transformed our 35-year-old chair into a piece that looks totally new and is perfect in our bedroom. I have used Nesco several times in the past year for both corporate and personal upholstery needs. I have catalogued the work extensively below as a testament to Baruch's consistent performance and care. The first job Nesco completed were for cushions at Bluewolf IBM / Salesforce offices. As a general contractor the work is extremely professional, and on-time. More recently, I had them also re-upholster some chairs for my home and I am highly satisfied with Nesco's performance. Nesco performed outstanding work in reupholstering this collector furniture. We own two Cassina LC3 LeCorbusier collector item chairs, owning them for 40 years. I have kept these chairs throughout my adult life. As the leather withered away, I became attached to them. The chair leather and cushions were well-used and worn. In addition to my collection of furniture is a Cassina Toshiyuki Kita WINK chair. I've had this chair for as long as I've owned the L3 LeCorbusier chairs. This furniture piece is no longer manufactured. It is a collectors item.The chair cleverly unfolds into a chaise lounge. The back & headrest can be mechanically adjusted with side gears, and the single leg unfolds, so as to become a lounge chair. One can imagine the understanding Nesco took to maintain the function and successfully reupholster the piece. The WINK is by far the best chair I have ever owned, and with Nesco's diligent work it remains so on craftsmanship and function. In addition to the L3 chairs, and the WINK lounge, Nesco worked on my fruitwood german Beidermeier arm chair which was well upholstered with padding and fabric. I own a 36' sport fisher that I use during the summer and I plan to have NESCO perform this work as well. read more

This company does beautiful work but I do not like the fabric guy. He made a mistake and had them use the wrong fabric and when I asked him to bring the same sample book for another job he conveniently forgot it. I suggest you ask for a swatch of the fabric to be mailed to you before they start the job. Next time I will supply my own fabric. read more

We had a Pottery Barn couch that we loved but it was not holding up well to time. Nesco gave us a great in-home consultation where we picked new fabric (he brought so many books!) We didn't know really which fabrics would be right but they did. Then the awesome crew came and picked up the couch which wasn't easy since it's too big for the door. They dismantled it with no problems. Baruch and I spoke on the phone about our requirements and then they delivered the most beautiful, comfortable, perfect reupholstered, restuffed, reinforced couch in perfect fabric. My sofa and 2 occasional chairs were just delivered by Baruch and his team, and I am speechless. I have a small antique occasional chair that belonged to my mother. I sent a message through Yelp with a photo and received a call the same day. I scheduled an appointment with Rick to look over the fabric. He asked me the color and style I was interested in. He did a good job of picking out fabric that I might like. I made up my mind by the 3rd fabric. The chair was small enough that it fit in Rick's car, so there was no need for another appointment for pick up. I emailed NESCO in a frenzy! I had what once was a gorgeous wingback chair that had been ripped to shreds by my dogs over the years. I had sent photos and emails to a few other places, all of them saying it was irreparable. NESCO got back to me right away saying they would be able to fix it right up in no time. They came to my house with swatches of fabrics catered to my taste, they were all so beautiful I had a hard time picking just one. A day later they were at my house to pick up the chair and had it fixed up in better than new condition in only 2.5 weeks. I am over the moon with how gorgeous the chair looks now, I could not imagine a better job, they even fixed the legs that had minor scratches on them! Reupholstering anything is a craft, so it's always going to be pricey, but like I said, I shopped around and NESCO was hands down the best price- especially for the amazing quality.
