Just a quick note: I have reached out multiple times about this issue, and they have not responded (as they claim), which is why I chose to write this review. But, I don't want to argue. I've moved on. I just want to warn anyone else who's looking to reupholster anything: Do you want your reupholstered items to break down within 6 months - completely unsalvageable unless you totally reupholster them again? My grandfather's chair is like new and absolutely gorgeous. Expensive but worth it. It's modern and luxurious without losing the sentimental value and old world craftsmanship that makes it a treasure. The ONLY adjustment I would make is that I had to chase down updates about the status of the work. When spending so much on something so special, the company should keep in contact without being asked. But I'm over the moon with the chair. Thank you!! read more

Some months back, I contracted MT Interiors to recover my couch. It had held up beautifully for almost two decades, but the existing fabric on the seat cushions was stretching out and looking wrinkly and old. I've noticed since the newly redone sofa was delivered to my home, the seat cushions wrinkle when sat upon, and don't recover. This is the problem I originally hired MarcTash to solve. I've contacted them via phone and email to no response. I believe more foam in the cushions would solve the problem. Also-the fabric at bottom of the sofa has not had wrinkles pressed out, and continues to look sloppy. I paid a lot of money for this work, and would've liked a timely response to my call/email. I don't think it would take rocket science or any major outlay of money to correct this situation. For these reasons, I'm not happy and can't recommend them as reliable. I had a home visit from MT Interiors. I picked fabric and was ready to get the window treatment project underway. Two days later, I received a call from them that the fabrics I selected were discontinued. I now had to start from 'scratch'. I asked if I could come to the 'factory' they said yes, I went, spent considerable time selecting new fabrics and then a day or so later, got a call from the decorator that these fabrics were discontinued. Now I'm picking very high end fabrics. When I asked Tash why I'm being shown fabrics that are no longer available, they responded by stating that it's hard to keep the fabric books up to date. That is to pull out, or X mark those fabrics no longer available. They also told me that I was picking very traditional fabrics implying that these 'traditional' looks are not so 'in' today. TRADITIONAL, I thought that's like classic, as in always available! So I never picked fabric a third time for my window treatments and to reupholster a wing chair. I went elsewhere and was show fabric that is 100% available without first looking and then keeping my fingers crossed as to whether or not the fabric I select is available or not. read more

Just received my old battered big arm chair back from Marc Tash with brand new fabric. AMAZING!! The old chair lives anew and it looks great. They did the entire reupholstery in 10 days, purchased the fabric I liked for me at a discount and voila, the chair looks great. Very pleased. Great communication and very professional. My employer used Marc tash for upholstering some chairs. I won't give all the details here but suffice it to say, the whole experience was horrible. They simply do not know how to deal with their customers but are very much on top of their game when it comes to collecting payment. Excellent experience from start to finish. Miriam responded to my request for information and arranged an appointment with Judy. Judy called to ask what type of fabric I had in mind for the job, upholstering dining room chairs. She arrived at my apartment exactly on time and because she had really listened to my comments from the phone call, I was able to very quickly whittle down the choices. I was contacted by Marc the next day with confirmation that the fabric was available and pickup was arranged within another day or two. Two weeks later, the cushions were delivered on time (despite a raging snowstorm) and installed in plenty of time for Thanksgiving. I am very happy. read more

My "ancient" winged-back chair and ottoman was in need of help. I contacted Marc via email, asked many questions, which he answered professionally and promptly. I pondered and wrote back asking more questions, which he again answered. I decided to go forward and a member of his staff came to my home, with several books of fabric. He gave me quotes on each and every one of the various choices I was considering. We agreed on a date and time to pick up my furniture and I was told it would be completed in three weeks. I could not say enough good things about Marc Tash Interiors. I needed to recover an Eames chair and ottoman. I had concerns about selecting a leather that was durable, and a color that would fit in with my decor. Marc assigned a sales person to me by the name of Jackie. I cannot even count the times I called and Jackie would get back to me immediately. Jackie took me through a number of swatches, and even found one that met all my requests, yet was still within my budget. I never got to see the final swatch, but took Jackie's word that it would be what I was looking for. When it came to the chair pick-up, the men were here at the precise time they said they would arrive. Within no time, my chair was recovered and delivered. An Eames chair is difficult to reupholster, and a number of businesses refused to take it on. The chair came back perfectly reupholstered, with the piping exactly where it should be; the quality and color was better than what I imagined! The phone staff was pleasant and helpful and right away scheduled a consult. They came down and did an extremely professionally reupholster job. I used Marc Tash Interiors three times for work in the past 20 year. In the past, I always found Marc to be very accomodating and helpful. Marc Tash himself passed away about 3 years ago and the company is now owned by what I would call less than friendly people. I spent thousands of dollars with Tash shortly before he died and recently had a problem with a 800.00 blind. I called the 'new' March Tash several times and no one ever returned my call. Finally, I got spoke with someone who arranged to have a serviceman come and repair my blind. But this guy didn't show until I e mailed and called him several time. When he did show, he did a repair on the blind, which I am totally satisfied with, but charged me $ 175.00 for the 'house call'. Firstly, this item is covered under a manufactuers warranty and secondly, the guy from Tash who set this up for me, I believe he is the new owner, never once said to me there would be a charge. Now, really I did NOT expect this repair to be for free, but even if he were to charge me as he surprisingly did, he should have told me there would be a service fee when he arranged for the repairman to come here and also, 175.00 for 15 minutes work is clearly a rip off. Also, I want to say, that I am a jewish person who is not an orthodox jew or religious jew in any manner. TASH is now owned and operated by orthodox jews and though, once again, I am jewish, I hate to say it but dealing with orthodox jews isn't the easiest thing to do when your not from 'their fold'. Frankly, I find they just don't really care about customers who are not of the level of orthodoxcy that they are. I find this very disappointing. Now that the 'old' Tash is dead, the new people should lighten up and be friendlier to Tash's old customers - who really could help this business, but their attitudes suck and with the economy the way it is, and their prices the way they are, I can't imagine they will be around as long as the old TASH was. I was really turned off by this new Tash and will never order from them again. In fact, when the repairman was at my home, I even discussed with him a new item I wanted made, but afterwards I thought... well $ 175.00 for a 15 minute house call to make a repair, I can only imagine what they will charge for the new item I wanted made. I decided I'd look elsewhere for the new 'stuff'. What I conclude is that the NEW TASH could really care less about the old customers, like me, and this has been confirmed by two friends who also recently called Tash - they used Tash before Tash's death, and they confirmed that they decided not to go ahead with new projects at the new Tash because they were not made to feel comfortable in their first inquiry by telelphone. I got custom window treatments and they didn't consider the height on my desk so the curtains sit on top of my desk, when i called they said "We specialize in windows, not desks" then had the nerve to say my apartment is cluttered!
