J&C did a beautiful job reupholstering a pair of antique armchairs in a beautiful sage velvet--they were my husband's grandmother's, but had been absolutely shredded over the years. The team was easy to communicate with, had access to a huge variety of fabrics (with, in our case, about 50% savings compared to retail), checked in with us on details, and cooperated easily with our building's COI and delivery requirements. Most importantly, the finished product is stunning--gorgeously detailed work, maintaining all the beautiful lines while adding comfort. We love our new old chairs, and they've become a favorite spot for everyone in the household. read more

Edwin did a great job on re-upholstering our six dining room chairs. Great service and communication. Finished exactly when they said it would be. We are very happy with the finished product and a very fair price. Wilson did a good job at delivery. I would highly recommend this company and will use them again if need arises. read more

The family who runs this shop are friendly, very good at what they do and offer great prices. They opened the shop early so I could pick up my couch cushions I had re-stuffed and worked with me on price. Communication was so easy since they will text you. HIGHLY recommend! read more

J&C did an *amazing* job on our cat-scratched up chair. In addition to fine workmanship, we really appreciated the ease of obtaining an estimate quote via text (no hassling to schedule an in person appointment), a reasonable quote and flexible payment options, the quick pick-up (as a courtesy) and drop-off (for a very reasonable price), and the ability to follow-up for status updates either via text or email (office team very helpful and responsive over email), and a reasonable turn-around time given how popular/busy they are. Highly recommend and will definitely use again for future upholstery jobs. Thank you J&C for loving our chair back to life! read more

I ruined my white mid-century chair by rubbing it down with a Clorox wipe! (Duh, right?) When I sat on it in my jeans, I left blue dye all over the chair. J & C to the rescue! I bought new vinyl and gave it, and the chair, to J&C. They worked miracles. The mirror vinyl came out great!! Perfectly smooth and shiny! Absolutely gorgeous! The chair looks super boujee!. Thank you J & C! read more

Excellent job done in timely manner, great customer service. Made my counter top chairs look brand new which saved me hundreds on a new purchase. Best price received over all others. Don't be deceived by the look of the upholstery shop...remember it's a working upholstery place. Small selection of fabric (I chose a high grade leather from them as well)....HIGHLY RECOMMENED read more

Overall, excellent!!! Did exactly as discussed and exceeded expectations. My upholstery was for an older Ligne Roset Stricto Sensu sofa, where I just had the seat and back cushions reupholstered (seat cushions were in bad shape), and reusing the existing zippers to zip the seat cushions back into place. They even put the seams where they were with the original leather cushions. It was like getting replacement cushions by Ligne Roset. Now the sofa that I bought used 6 years ago is like new. Very happy with the outcome! Only issue is J&C needs to return the remaining upholstery fabric (Got much more than needed), as well as the original leather back cushions. Still waiting on that. Communication could be better, but they always respond. They are very busy for a reason. read more

I had a mid-century modern chair reupholstered by them and the work itself is top notch. Really done perfectly and at a fair price. They were also very accommodating in sending many swatches as I had a hard time telling online what the fabrics were going to look like. They pick up and deliver too. One thing they could improve on is communication. It also seemed a little strange that when they picked up the chair I didn't get a receipt or formal quote for the work or a clear time estimate, but in the end it worked out as planned. read more

These guys did a great job at a reasonable price... and they picked up and delivered. Repaired a split rail on old oak Morris chair I had and you can't even see the repair, and also installed new springs in it - also did a second old armchair. Good experience, although they could communicate a bit better. read more

Fast easy and efficient! Re-upholstered a nailhead headboard. Wish I contacted them first!

They took very long to provide a response after multiple follow ups. When a quote was finally provided (after the fourth inquiry), they wanted me to provide my own materials on top of the crazy pricing. Not worth considering. read more

J and C did an excellent job refurbishing my sofa and two wing chairs. The only thing I would say is that they could do better job in updating the customer about the status of the job. I had to call to find out. read more

I am a Doctor of Chiropractic. My treatment tables were in desperate need of refurbishing. I discussed my situation with J & C, they gave me a fair quote, had the color that I was looking for, and re-upholstered the tables in a timely manner. The result was beyond my expectations! What a terrific job! The material is top quality, the craftmanship and attention to detail is spot on. I highly recommend these professionals! read more

Edwin Asmal and his team at J&C Upholstery are the greatest! I requested estimates via Yelp from 5 different places to get my 2 beloved barstools re-upholstered. Edwin responded the quickest, with the best price - it included pickup + delivery (he's in Brooklyn/I'm in congested midtown Manhattan). Since I'm in the Garment District, it was easy for me to buy the upholstery fabric at a great price; Edwin advised me how much fabric I needed + answered all of my many questions efficiently. It took less than 2 weeks for J&C Upholstery to deliver rejuvenated, perfectly reupholstered bar stools. I'll hire them again for all of my furniture repair needs. read more

I'd been looking on and off for somebody to reupholster my poor bedraggled sofa. Found all the quotes to be crazy high -- cheaper to buy a new couch or two -- and all the service providers to mostly unavailable (even at the high prices). Last Dec., I lucked out and found these guys. They did a fantastic job within 1 month, picked up and delivered. Couch looks brand-new. Highly recommend!!!! read more

Took in a sofa cushion to have loose buttons sewn back in. It was done while we waited, and the charge was more than reasonable.

We have been using these guys for several years and my wife is a stickler and she has always found their workmanship to be exemplary. Add to this fair pricing and a very engaging father and son relationship between Jesus and Edwin...They are a pleasure to do business with!!! Norman R. read more

The sofa I dreamed of! Edwin and his team recovered a 1950's vintage sectional sofa and ottomans that came in multiple sections. Each section was perfectly tailored with seaming that is straight as an arrow, and the cushioning has held up over the past few months. I hunted for a reupholster with a good reputation and many reviews for other businesses said that the worked looked good initially but after a few months didn't hold up. The sofa J&C recovered looks as good if not better than the day it arrived. read more

Excellent job at the best price. I've used other upholsterers and I am very glad I found J&C. Beautiful work, good customer service.

Spectacular job...absolutely on time...Edwin is wonderful. I had been researching affordable re-upholsterers for over a year when I decided to go with J&C. Not only is the workmanship impeccable, my chair would not fit in my tiny elevator, going or coming. Edwin and his associate carried it down, and then up 8 flights...with no delivery charges! They also made arm covers and an antimacassar at no extra charge. The chair was delivered in 7 days as promised. I cannot recommend them highly enough! read more

These guys are amazing! The workmanship is wonderful, seamless pickup and drop off, what more can you ask for. I am very happy with the work since the mid-century butterfly chairs looked quite difficult to me and since the back is upholstered, the work needed to be perfect. It exceeded my expectations! It has been a long saga decorating the apartment..... We are doing period furniture in the formal living and dining rooms. We thought we found some appropriate fabric for a few reupholstery projects (8 Hepplewhite dining chairs, empire sofa and 2 bergers). I called, emailed and texted for quotes earlier this year (May and June). We were mistaken - it was sold out. Back to the drawing board. Well, we finally obtain some appropriate fabric for the dining chairs. I called a few of the upholsterers I had previously obtained quotes from. I needed the chairs for Thanksgiving (I was hosting a large dinner). J&C Custom Upholstery ("J&C") responded nicely. I texted and emailed a few images of the fabric and chairs to check if I had enough fabric. Edwin of J&C was very cooperative. He sent his father to pick up the chairs later that day. His father double checked the fabric and the chairs when he picked up the items. Well, not only did they turn the chairs around in less than the agreed upon 2 weeks (picked up November 1st and delivered on November 14th), they did a great job on the chairs! They were extremely reasonable priced. The chairs look better than I thought and they executed my design as requested. They repaired the straps/bindings too. They did not add extra fees or play games. This is a great family run business. It had been a while since I obtain the quote, they still honored it. They are pretty easy going and casual. I was worried because I had bad experiences with other upholsterers. I would definitely use them for future projects. read more

I do a lot of upholstery work and J&C are superbly qualified to take on any re-up challenge you can find! This is a family-owned and run business and the care they show for their customers reflects that. Let's be frank, upholstery is not brain surgery, so the factors that make one shop better than another come down to value and service. On both counts, J&C comes out ahead. Fair prices, very responsive. read more

This was such a top quality job done at such a better price than anyone else, that I couldn't get over it. I have done a lot of upholstering myself and I can tell you their work is top shelf. Not responsive. I suggest not trusting someone with any valuable furniture if they cannot respond in a timely manner.

Emailed them. He responded about a week later asking for photos. I sent the photos and never heard back.

This is a great family owned business that as a professional, I recommend fully. The father and son along with their team of artisans picked up a leather Restoration Hardware chair that was damaged during shipping. J&C surgically removed the no-longer-available nailheads. They refabricated the leg and matched it perfectly. They returned the leather and nailheads so it was impossible to se the repair. Thank you J&C for saving my sale and restoring the chair. If not for J&C I would have lost the sale! Thank you so much! read more

We had a couch and matching love seat whose springs had given way due to heavy use. The set was bought from a major furniture retailer who we have found was less than agreeable when called for customer service. The choice was to find someone who could fix the furniture at a reasonable cost or buy new to replace the pieces . After several google searches, and phone calls I chose J & C. They came to my home and gave me a general estimate. I agreed to let them take the furniture back to their facility to further study. After agreeing on a final price, the two pieces were brought back several days later, good as new. J& C saved me several hundred dollars by not having to replace the items. I would use them again and recommend them to anyone for reliable upholstery and furniture repair. read more

My favorite Lazyboy recliner was showing its age. It was about 12 years old and where I sit almost every evening. I shopped around for either a new one or to recover my existing chair.
