We had a pleasant light dinner at Nero's, inside the Caesars Windsor complex. The interior is heavy wood with dark furnishings - very typical of a steakhouse. Also very warm and welcoming. We started with the pull apart focaccia which was slightly over-cooked but still soft inside. The olive oil dip they provide with the bread is really good - lots of herbs to add more flavor to the bread. Hubby got the oysters and really enjoyed them. They were very fresh. We both got salads for the main course. Their portions are huge so they are very filling. They lettuce used in both salads was fresh and light and the variety of toppings provided a nice taste (I tried both). The service here is excellent and even though we weren't dressed up, they never took a second look - I appreciated that because it was a last minute decision to eat here. We'll be back! read more

Feeling disappointed this visit. I would not post again but this time really didn't work for us. They changed their ravioli now and just tasted standard and what I could make at home. The Mac and cheese was ok. The beet salad is great, as usual. The worst part was the service. Even when packed they have been attentive. Tonight was not it. We didn't even get acknowledged until about 5 minute sitting down. They took our drink order then someone else brought it. Finally ordered and then our food came all at once. We could not enjoy the bread or the salad first. Then our Mac and cheese side was missing. I was a little bit hesitant to try this restaurant after reading not so flattering reviews but I am glad I gave this establishment a chance. My experience of dining 2 nights in a row was great. My dry aged strip steak and my husband's ribeye steak and filet were perfectly cooked, the quality of meat was impressive. The side vegetables were crunchy and tasty. My miso glazed pacific black cod was unbelievable with its delicate flavor, it was melting in the mouth. Chili shrimps were just enough spicy and crunchy . Ocean scallops were very tender and flavorful. My mango passion mousse was light and absolutely delightful. Our wonderful server Cathy was very professional and friendly and made us feel welcome. Quick trip over to Canada while visiting Detroit turned into an extremely full stomach & being in a food coma. We looked at the menu & since we were all hungry we went for the Carnivore for Four which consisted of 4 lamb chops, prime rib, sirloin, mushrooms , asparagus, whipped potatoes and carrots. It was absolutely DELICIOUS the steak was cooked and seasoned to perfection, you could literally cut it with a butter knife the way it melted in your mouth. The mushrooms & asparagus were very good. Everyone at in my group loved the carrots. I was not a fan. All of us were meh about the potatoes . Jenny our server and was amazing, very thorough and attentive. She was super helpful from beginning to end. The downfall is their desert. The greeting was really nice and warm. He acknowledged my birthday and sat us down at a very nice table by the window. I was actually thinking to myself that this is going to be a nice experience. Ordered a nice bottle of wine and the server was nice at this point. She took our order and explained the steaks were A la cart. I ordered the porterhouse steak and my wife had the blackened chicken. My wife asked the waitress what sides came with the meal. She replied in a very rude tone "like I said the sides are A la cart" this was the start of what I can tell to be the turning point of the service in a very fine dining restaurant. I ordered the porter house steak Med-rare. When I got my steak it was cooked Med-well. I asked the waitress to confirm that I ordered a Med-rare and she confirmed that I did. I explained to her that the steak was cooked Med-well at best and got a response of "the windows have a blue tint and it makes the steak look well done." I had a little chuckle at that response and showed her there was no juice coming from the steak. I took a picture of it and wish I could share with you but there is no place to upload from what I can see. All in all for a high end restaurant I would not recommend this as the Table service was as good as I would expect from a fast food joint. This is a beautiful restaurant with great views of the Detroit skyline across the river. If you are dining before a show, be sure to make reservations well in advance as this is a very popular spot. We ordered the ribeye with Mexican street corn and beet salad and the crispy skin barramundi with a Caesar salad. My husband ordered an Old Fashioned and I ordered a Chardonnay. The steak was ordered medium but came well done, but still delicious. The fish was excellent with a light curry sauce and cubed sweet potatoes. For dessert we had the crème brûlée and coffee. My wife and I dined at Nero's last night and the customer service was top notch. We were greeted soon as we walked in by Nina, she was vibrant and pleasant. We were shown to a very nice table with a view. Our server took forever to greet us and give us menus. My wife had to tell her it was her birthday, no response. She took our drink orders and after I ordered a smoked old fashioned, she said the bartender ran out of smoke chips yesterday, I was incorrect in assuming (yes, I know) they would have gotten more. Regardless, after a very long wait, another person delivered the drinks saying our server was very busy. Not from what I saw, it looked like she only had 2 other tables. It was not a great drink, but I decided to keep it since it was going to be a long time before she came back. Turns out I still was charged the extra money for the smoke, even though there wasn't any. When she finally came back and took our order, she promised my wife these would be the best lamb chops she ever had. It was not even close, she said they had no taste and were very fatty. The steak I ordered was unevenly seasoned, and I have had much better in other steakhouses. During dinner, she never checked on us, so even if there was a problem, it would not have been resolved quickly. Apparently she was spending a lot of time chatting with the regulars at the bar. We ordered tiramisu for desert - so so. Our server then came back with a birthday desert, a mostly frozen piece of carrot cake. The host continued talking to another worker about his personal life and ignored us for about a minute before he said hello or helped us. The appetizers were good, I liked the char on the octopus, and the tuna was good but also pretty salty. My pan seared halibut was over cooked, a little chewy, and didn't have the crispy skin we were told about. The truffle chips were great, just like anything else that has truffle. I told our server I didn't like the halibut, but she didn't offer anything else or comp the dish, she just removed it from our table, so we ended up paying for food that we didn't like. The host was very nice and helpful and professional and it was just his first day. We had reservations we were early for but we decided to go to the bar. Nikki was wonderful. The other girl apparently was new and she was straight awful and rude. Couldn't tell you her name because she never told us. She was clearly stressed and I don't know how because there were two people taking care of probably 9 folks total at the bar. She made sure everyone knew she was annoyed and flustered and made you feel like a burden. Our food took forever and ever and ever to come and so did the rest of the bar. Everything I asked for I had to ask 2-3 times. At a nice restaurant when you're spending at least $300 on the bill, these are the things that matter. In my opinion I didn't want to give her a tip at all because she was that unwelcoming the whole time but I did not want to make Nikki suffer a loss because of that, so we did tip 20%....if we have a great service we love to go above and beyond for tip. The food was EH. Jumbo shrimp was good enough. Was planning on getting dessert but skipped it because we had already been there over 2 and a half hours and I wanted to enjoy the rest of the evening. Crossed the border into Canada to see the Vegas-based magician Criss Angel at Caesar's Windsor Hotel & Casino and checked in for dinner at Neros before the show. Nero's is conveniently located within the Caesars complex and provides the only white-tablecloth experience on site. Starting with cocktails when they opened at 5:00 pm, we enjoyed a leisurely dinner for the next hour forty-five and got seated in plenty of time for the show. My wife started with a Neros Chopped Salad followed by the 8-oz Filet with a side of golden mashed. I hit the Roasted Atlantic Lobster with Tagliatelle which included bay scallops, shrimp, tender crab and lobster tail on a bed of pasta in a tomato and Pernod cream...super nice combo...These Canadians know how to live! On the "back 40 of the meal" we shared a Nero's Signature Dark Chocolate Mousse w/ a hazelnut nougat crust with a cherry jubilee sauce. No question, this was a little slice of Canadian heaven. Went there for 1 year anniversary, ordered a 10 oz wagyu steak, but the waitress gave me a 16 oz same size as my bf's steak. When the bill came i saw it was a 16oz and ask her i thought it was a 10 oz, she said they don't serve 10, they only have 16. Paid $150 before tax for it! When i was about to leave, i was curious about the steak so i asked the manager, he said they don't serve 16 oz wagyu, so where did the 16oz wagyu come from? We were seated at 7:40 for for a 7:30 reservation, which is expected as we added a 5th to our party. The first interaction was a little off putting as the hostess indicated to us how they have extremely limited seating for parties of 5. Adding a chair should not be an issue considering we mentioned a chair at the end of a booth would be fine. Also, when we were seated, 2+ tables in our area able to accommodate remained vacant during our entire stay. We sat around 7:40, ordered at 7:55, were served main course at 8:40. Appetizers came shortly after 8, it just seemed like a long time considering they were not that busy. We ordered the scallops, Escargot, and beet salad. The portions were extremely disappointing for the price. The scallops came 3 1.5oz to a plate, they were cold, over cooked and under seasoned. The escargot was also cold and flavorless. Beet salad was just OK, was very bitter as the radicchio was excessive. For the mains: Rated from 1-10 (10 being the best) Tomahawk Steak - 8 Prime Rib - 10 AAA Filet - 8 Ribeye - 2 Cremini Mushrooms - 2 Duck Fat Potatoes - 2 (No Flavor) Lobster Mac - 2 (No Flavor) Overall very unimpressed. All the times that we've been to Caesars, yet this was our first visit to Nero's. The décor is a modern twist on traditional steakhouses. The entrance features a huge alabaster pendant light with an even larger mosaic table. Seating options include banquettes and tables. I think that there were curved booths, as well, but not sure about that. The bread basket was a delight of pretzel rolls, multigrain buns and other assorted goodies. Note that the items on the Nero's cuts portion of the menu are all served à la carte - not so much as a carrot curl comes on the plate. The steak cut frites ($9) were actually regularly cut, not thick as steak cut ones should be. The Angus ribeye ($51) was a hit, as was the Atlantic lobster tail ($41). The shrimp cocktail ($19) came with four huge prawns, perfectly poached. Of course there is a caesar salad on the menu ($12); it was a lovely accompaniment to the steak. The wine prices were commensurate with the surroundings, if a bit higher than I would have liked. Coffee and tea were refreshed throughout the meal. We had cordial service from Moran, who added to our enjoyment of the evening with his professional demeanour. We are already looking forward to our next visit. read more

Immediately called the waiter he agree that is not what I ordered. With that had to wait for Management to make the call on this........ (seemed like I was a NHL game waiting waiting for someone to review the tapes) after about 10-15 minutes go by she showed up saying sorry and would like the steak reheated? If you know anything about steaks beef in general you don't take a $30 steak and re-heat it, more so after making the customer wait that long to begin with.Then she proceeds to tell me that I would not be charged for the steak, really you expected me to pay for the raw steak..... ok. Now this is to funny waiter says would you like a piece of our cheese cake I said sure why not, didn't have dinner may as well have dessert. Comes back a few minutes later reluctantly saying it was sold out....... WOW the icing on the cake literally. I had a quiet midweek night to enjoy a steak out and I'd say I was generally pleased - Ambiance is hotel fare - inside a casino and though they don't try and hide it they do offer some great value either way The prix fixe menu which offers no substitutions although rigid - was frought with popular pics The Cesar salads are decent and packed with bacon and cheese though I can't say the dressing was anything spectacular Had the striploin steak cooked to a medium rare and it was pleasantly perfect with a juicy bite that I'd expect from a well marbled cut - as I had it paired with a lobster tail I will admit that it was cooked to perfection to a juicy white just past fresh served with drawn butter ... as far as the sides go it was decoration given the entree and notably seasonal - all was paired with an Australian Shiraz and I must say it was quite the enjoyable repast I will say the coffee was pleasant though the dessert menu didn't have anything that had me fishing to try - and they were out of creme brûlée ... This is by far the finest restaurant in Windsor. The atmosphere is very classy and the food is impeccable. Although the menu may appear highly priced to some, the food and wine is definitely worth it. For an appetizer I had the escargot which was absolutely amazing. It was a unique dish because escargot is usually served in mushroom caps but the Chef at Nero's uses shiitake mushrooms instead. For a main course I had the Seafood Linguine which was absolutely incredible. Often I find seafood linguine can be over salty due to the fish but this one was spiced and marinated to perfection. The person I was with ordered the Duck which was amazing as well. It had very little fat and the squash was cooked perfectly. For desert I had the Creme Brûlée which was very delicious as well. I would definitely recommend this dessert. DONT EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE WINE! One of the widest selection of wines I have ever seen and the bottle we chose was delicious. Because my oldest turned 19 we decided to head across the border into Canada to celebrate. Because we aren't 19 we decided to have dinner at a steakhouse. The place is huge. We were sat near a window but I can't say I was overly impressed with the view. The décor was upscale and rich and despite the size, it was intimate, lots of smaller eating areas breaking up the grand space. We sat against the wall where one side was booth and the other side chairs, in a corner. The booth wall was ram rod straight, bordering on uncomfortable. My husband and BIL looked very comfy in the chairs. The waiter was very helpful in helping my son order his first "legal" cocktail and told us how he had made the drink for Kelly Clarkston and she loved it. It was a raspberry Kamikaze that was really tasty. Good wine menu, decent food menu. If I recall it is all ala cart so we order a couple sides for the table - or we shared sides... I did get the wedge salad and it was ok. I feel like maybe the lettuce was a little old and it had way too much dressing. My steak was ridiculous. It was (allegedly) a 6 ounce filet and it looked absolutely ridiculous sitting alone in the middle of this giant plate. My husband got the same thing and his was quite a bit larger than mine. My BIL got whatever the vegan option was and he liked it - nice for a steakhouse to have a vegan option, and I have no idea what my son had but I think we shared the cauliflower au gratin which was nothing special. Just some cauliflower with some cheese on it. I think they could use an update to the sides and add a Brussel Sprout or something green and interesting. The steak was well prepared and tasted great; it did way more for my mouth than my eyes. Overall, it was a little bit of a let down. I wish half stars were a thing because it really deserves 3.5 stars. The potential is right there... great ambiance, talented servers, a well prepared steak but to be 4 or 5 stars it just needs more - some wow factor that just isn't there. Nero's is tucked inside Caesars Palace. Upscale but not stuffy. When we walked in, we asked if we wanted a window seat. . SCORE! Well, not really because the window seat wasn't really anything special.. it was a view of the street, but it's the thought that counts, right? Moving on. Decisions, decisions. Tell me why it is that almost every single time we go to a steakhouse, I don't choose steak. Seriously, you think I would learn my lesson. Bread was brought out right away, so we skipped the apps. Then there was a surprise little salad on a cucumber slice that we were not expecting so that was a plus! For my entree, I chose the roasted atlantic lobster with tagliatelle. The dish came with shrimp, scallops and crab, which is why I chose it over a steak. The lobster was cooked perfectly and the sauce that accompanied the pasta was amazing. Downside - there were two shrimp and one scallop. Seriously? I don't know if that was an oversight or what but that was pretty skimpy. I asked our server if that was the way it was usually served & she wasn't sure but was very apologetic. The duck fat potatoes were good. No complaints. My boyfriend and I stopped in Ceasers Windsor Casino to exchange currency. On a whim, we decided to stay and enjoy dinner at Nero's. It wasn't our first choice as we pondered going back stateside, but we're so glad we did. We were promptly seated with views overlooking the Detroit River. What an amazing view of Detroit. The seating was comfortable, not pretentious. The overall feel of the restaurant is very casual yet elegant. Patrons were dressed in all manner of attire. Our server was delightful and informative. I ordered Grilled Ontario Beef Tenderloin from the "Early Evening Menu" while my boyfriend ordered Slow Roasted AAA Prime Rib from the "Full Menu". We split a Caramelized Bosc Pear and Baby Greens Salad while awaiting our dinner entrees and talked about life and love while gazing out toward the river. We both agreed that salad was probably one of the best salads we've ever ordered. The pears were poached perfectly and the blue cheese had a soft flavor, not over-powering as some blues can be. The dressing was obviously house-made and delicious. Beautiful presentation. It was a large serving. We devoured it. Service throughout our evening was spot-on. Our server was attentive but not intrusive. There is a fine line. She nailed it. Our dinners were perfect. Again, beautifully plated. Both meats were cooked to our exact specifications, fork tender and the sides were very good. I will say, we both ate everything on our plates. It was a very pleasant, relaxed and filling meal. Toward the end of our evening, the Restaurant Manager stopped at our table. I can't remember her name, however, she had only been there about a month. She inquired if we had enjoyed our food and visit to the casino. All in all, she was very engaging, listened intently to our comments and was very kind. We ended our night by sharing a slice of New York Cheesecake which we could BARELY finish. Large slice, great choice. For dining on a whim, Nero's did not disappoint. We made a reservation for 3 at 7pm, thinking that being there 2 hours before the Amy Schumer show would leave us plenty of time to eat. We went to check in a few minutes before our reservation, and noticed lots of people standing around, also with reservations. It took about 5 minutes for us to get sat at our table. We got some water from our server, and she told us the specials. She ran off without taking our drink order. A man brought us a bread basket. Our server eventually did come back and take our orders. We had an appetizer, a soup and two salads, and three entrees. We had been there for almost an hour and all we had received was the appetizer. I flagged down a manager and told them that we were supposed to be going to the comedy show, and that we need our food as soon as possible if they could. Within 5-10 minutes they dropped our salads/soup, and said it'd be another 20 minutes before our meals would be delivered. I've never been to a restaurant that took over an hour and a half to get to the main course. We were now under crunch time, and our server had gone missing again after our food was delivered. My friend flagged down another manager, asking for our bill so we could cash out. Their credit card system is ridiculous here. They have these handheld machines, but apparently not enough of them. My friend ended up going to a seperate waitress station to cash out, and she had to sign her card, etc. on location there. Considering how pricy the food was, and that this was supposed to be the upscale place to eat in the casino, it was an overall dissapointment. The food didn't wow any of us. It was acceptable, but nothing AMAZING. Not every table was full, there wasn't a wait at the door, not sure why this was such a disaster. read more

Fancy restaurant inside the Caesar's Casino..Very well-lit, great music, very nice ambience. Very friendly and helpful staff. It is a steakhouse but they have great seafood selection as well. I love the seafood linguine.. In terms of coffee and dessert, nero indulgence and the B-52 taste sooooo good! All of their coffees contain alcohol.. Dessert: raspberry white chocolate cheesecake. I am soooo indulging! The best restaurant in Windsor. read more
