    Beet salad
    Maureen B.

Feeling disappointed this visit. I would not post again but this time really didn't work for us. They changed their ravioli now and just tasted standard and what I could make at home. The Mac and cheese was ok. The beet salad is great, as usual. The worst part was the service. Even when packed they have been attentive. Tonight was not it. We didn't even get acknowledged until about 5 minute sitting down. They took our drink order then someone else brought it. Finally ordered and then our food came all at once. We could not enjoy the bread or the salad first. Then our Mac and cheese side was missing. IDK, feeling like we might not return if other more flavorful ravioli/vegetarian items return and service improves. The overall vibe was just off tonight.

A solid choice, as steakhouses go. A reasonable number of items on the menu. Food was prepared and presented just fine. Perhaps overall, it's not a real adventurous restaurant. Prices are standard to a bit high. Ambiance in the restaurant is fine, somewhat intimate but fairly basic. I will say service was very good, pleasant and attentive.

Food: Delicious dishes, especially the steak and lobster. It was served promptly. Service: We appreciate the attentive service. Ambiance: The restaurant is known for its elegant decor and welcoming atmosphere. Not crowded and loud inside.

I was a little bit hesitant to try this restaurant after reading not so flattering reviews but I am glad I gave this establishment a chance. My experience of dining 2 nights in a row was great. My dry aged strip steak and my husband's ribeye steak and filet were perfectly cooked, the quality of meat was impressive. The side vegetables were crunchy and tasty. My miso glazed pacific black cod was unbelievable with its delicate flavor, it was melting in the mouth. Chili shrimps were just enough spicy and crunchy . Ocean scallops were very tender and flavorful. My mango passion mousse was light and absolutely delightful. Our wonderful server Cathy was very professional and friendly and made us feel welcome. The lovely ambiance and the gorgeous river view contributed to our overall excellent experience! I highly recommend!

Quick trip over to Canada while visiting Detroit turned into an extremely full stomach & being in a food coma. We looked at the menu & since we were all hungry we went for the Carnivore for Four which consisted of 4 lamb chops, prime rib, sirloin, mushrooms , asparagus, whipped potatoes and carrots. It was absolutely DELICIOUS the steak was cooked and seasoned to perfection, you could literally cut it with a butter knife the way it melted in your mouth. The mushrooms & asparagus were very good. Everyone at in my group loved the carrots. I was not a fan. All of us were meh about the potatoes . Jenny our server and was amazing, very thorough and attentive. She was super helpful from beginning to end. The downfall is their desert. They would have gotten 5 stars from me had I not ordered that whipped cardboard disguised as cheesecake & the balled out up paper bag pretending to be carrot cake.

The greeting was really nice and warm. He acknowledged my birthday and sat us down at a very nice table by the window. I was actually thinking to myself that this is going to be a nice experience. Ordered a nice bottle of wine and the server was nice at this point. She took our order and explained the steaks were A la cart. I ordered the porterhouse steak and my wife had the blackened chicken. My wife asked the waitress what sides came with the meal. She replied in a very rude tone "like I said the sides are A la cart" this was the start of what I can tell to be the turning point of the service in a very fine dining restaurant. I ordered the porter house steak Med-rare. When I got my steak it was cooked Med-well. I asked the waitress to confirm that I ordered a Med-rare and she confirmed that I did. I explained to her that the steak was cooked Med-well at best and got a response of "the windows have a blue tint and it makes the steak look well done." I had a little chuckle at that response and showed her there was no juice coming from the steak. I took a picture of it and wish I could share with you but there is no place to upload from what I can see. All in all for a high end restaurant I would not recommend this as the Table service was as good as I would expect from a fast food joint. The chef should also be ashamed for over cooking steak which my wife was explained that "the steak still cooks when it's resting". Another good chuckle. Big thumbs down on this experience.

This is a beautiful restaurant with great views of the Detroit skyline across the river. If you are dining before a show, be sure to make reservations well in advance as this is a very popular spot. We ordered the ribeye with Mexican street corn and beet salad and the crispy skin barramundi with a Caesar salad. My husband ordered an Old Fashioned and I ordered a Chardonnay. The steak was ordered medium but came well done, but still delicious. The fish was excellent with a light curry sauce and cubed sweet potatoes. For dessert we had the crème brûlée and coffee. Service was a bit slow, but this is the type of dinner meant to be enjoyed at a leisurely pace. Just keep that in mind if you're heading to a show afterward

    Pan seared pacific halibut

The food was inconsistent, some good and some not so much, and the service was subpar. When we walked up to the host stand to check in, we said hello to the guy working. The host continued talking to another worker about his personal life and ignored us for about a minute before he said hello or helped us. The appetizers were good, I liked the char on the octopus, and the tuna was good but also pretty salty. My pan seared halibut was over cooked, a little chewy, and didn't have the crispy skin we were told about. The truffle chips were great, just like anything else that has truffle. I told our server I didn't like the halibut, but she didn't offer anything else or comp the dish, she just removed it from our table, so we ended up paying for food that we didn't like. Easy to say it was a disappointing dinner for a birthday celebration.

Crossed the border into Canada to see the Vegas-based magician Criss Angel at Caesar's Windsor Hotel & Casino and checked in for dinner at Neros before the show. Nero's is conveniently located within the Caesars complex and provides the only white-tablecloth experience on site. Starting with cocktails when they opened at 5:00 pm, we enjoyed a leisurely dinner for the next hour forty-five and got seated in plenty of time for the show. My wife started with a Neros Chopped Salad followed by the 8-oz Filet with a side of golden mashed. I hit the Roasted Atlantic Lobster with Tagliatelle which included bay scallops, shrimp, tender crab and lobster tail on a bed of pasta in a tomato and Pernod cream...super nice combo...These Canadians know how to live! On the "back 40 of the meal" we shared a Nero's Signature Dark Chocolate Mousse w/ a hazelnut nougat crust with a cherry jubilee sauce. No question, this was a little slice of Canadian heaven. A delicious dinner with impeccable service...a really nice 4-Star experience before the illusions of Criss Angel.

There was a 2 top table at the back that we were seated at - we could have sat at the bar also - and it was a great spot. We ordered the tasting menu and WOW, every course was amazing. I'll post pics because the presentation was gorgeous for each item. They have a small cocktail and wine and beer selection, but that was fine. My son got their Shrub Mocktail and I got the Shrub with Sake. Both were delicious and so interesting. I can't pick a favorite item because they were all so good, but the Torched Mackerel and Poached Bosc Pear were tied for #1, followed by the Salmon, Oysters and the crazy good Blood Orange dessert. The shrimp toast was just ok for me, not bad, just not as good as everything else. Additionally the service was outstanding. For a tiny place they did everything right. They explained each course, brought out fresh utensils for every course - YEA! - and made sure we had good pacing. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly and enhanced our meal. I really want to come back and try the oysters and some of the tinned items. I'm so excited I found Mink and will be back for sure.

As others have mentioned, seating is somewhat limited, but that only adds to the excellent service and intimate experience. I wish I remembered the names of our server and the manager because they were incredibly kind, accommodating, and helpful throughout the evening. One example of the thoughtful service: I was torn between two white wines, and since my partner ordered one of them, our server offered to bring a small sample of the other so I could compare and choose what I liked best. We also mentioned that we had never tried caviar before but didn't want to commit to a larger portion. They suggested a "bump" for $5 each, walked us through how to enjoy it properly (on the hand, letting it warm slightly), and made the experience feel fun and approachable. We were seated at the bar, which gave us the opportunity to chat more with the server and manager and watch the team prepare dishes for other tables. It genuinely felt like sitting at the chef's table. We both opted for the tasting menu, which changes from time to time, and we were very happy with the selection. We also added the lobster roll, and our server thoughtfully timed it so we could enjoy it alongside the warmer course. The meal began with two different oysters, one topped with caviar, giving us another chance to enjoy it. Next was the shrimp cocktail, which included wasabi--but not in an overpowering way. The flavor was present yet balanced, allowing everything else to shine. The escargot course was especially creative and delicious, paired with basil oil, pepper jelly, and hints of balsamic. While it might sound unusual, the flavors blended beautifully. I expected the pepper jelly to dominate, but it was surprisingly subtle. Next was the potato pavé served with a scallop. The textures were remarkably similar, and the scallop was cooked perfectly. The lobster roll was very good, though I personally found the bread a bit denser than I prefer--I usually like a more buttery, Texas-toast style--but my partner loved it. The turbot followed, accompanied by a chestnut beurre blanc that was incredibly silky and flavorful. It paired wonderfully with the king trumpet mushrooms, black truffle and the fish. The final tasting course was the petit fours: three small cakes--matcha, red velvet, and ginger molasses. They were slightly dense, but still a nice way to end the meal. We also added the house-made basil ice cream (because the basil oil earlier was so good), and that was an excellent decision. Although my birthday had been a few months earlier, once the staff heard we were using a birthday gift card, they surprised me with vanilla ice cream, sprinkles, and a candle--such a thoughtful and unexpected touch. They also treated us to a small glass of dessert wine. By the end of the night, we knew we had found our new favorite place to celebrate. The overall experience is absolutely worth the price point, and I only wish more places were like Mink. We can't wait to return.

My first impression: Noisy! Lots of hard surfaces. Difficult to hear the hostess, server and my wife. The tables were appropriately spaced for diners and servers to work with no bump & grind. We started by sharing a dozen oysters and the pear/walnuts salad. The oysters were a bit small-ish; but otherwise, excellent. Server took a drink order from my wife, but skipped me. Eh? I flagged down another server to order a Pino. It took a surprisingly long time to arrive. On the plus side, I was offered a taste to insure it was satisfactory - it was. The pear salad w/walnuts was excellent. The pears were sliced paper-thin. One of the joys of eating a properly ripened pear is the juicy explosion and thinly sliced pears defeat the juicy explosion. If the pears were fully ripe, perhaps cube them? Weirdly; the two sides (mushrooms, potatoes) were served before the entrees. The server noticed, seemed surprised and withdrew the sides, returning with our entrees (lamb shoulder, steak). Then the side returned. Both entrees were warm-ish and the sides were hot. The 14-day, dry-aged steak was ordered medium-rare and was seasoned and prepared as ordered. Again; warm-ish, not hot. I expected better beefy flavor for a dry-aged steak. One end was a bit chewy. Tenderness improved as I got to the other end of the steak. I ordered it with horseradish. I will admit to being a weirdo who loves spicy horseradish (and wasabi) that will clean the sinuses - this was "Ohio-spice'd" horseradish ... not creamy, but less spicy than Arby's Horsey sauce. The mushroom and the potato sides were served hot from the kitchen. Both were excellent, no complaints. The presentation of the steak needs improvement. It was a properly prepared, lonely lump of brown, served on a white plate with cracked ceramic glaze. The lamb shoulder was the better entree. For some reason, my wife was expecting Middle Eastern seasoning. The menu did not mention Middle Eastern seasoning and she did not ask, so that's on her, not the kitchen. I thought it was excellent. Gripe: After the entrees arrived, our server did not return to ask if the entrees were satisfactory. She did return later to ask if we wanted a second round of drinks. We did ... We were offered dessert and ordered, but never asked if we wanted coffee or an after dinner drink. Both desserts were excellent. Will we return? Probably ... not. With tip; dinner for two was $286. At this price point I expect better: Less noise, better beef and flawless service.

First, the restaurant is up two flights of steps and there is no elevator. I injured my knee and walked up the stairs. Second, when I was seated and shown the menu, I was shocked at the very limited options. They only offer white- meat chicken, no rice or plain sides. I was going to try the greens but the server said they put vinegar on them which I don't care for. The Brussels sprouts with corn is a hard pass. I had no other choice but ordered something that I would never put together as a meal: fried catfish, sweet potatoes and Brussels sprouts with corn. The fish was fried hard and needed seasoning and the sprouts were forgettable. They brought out hot sauce on the side assuming all people want hot/ spicy food. I wanted tartar sauce and they didn't have a traditional sauce- they had a " Cajun- style sauce." My friend had a crab cake for $25. When I called about parking, the hostess mentioned the cash lot behind the restaurant and.a parking structure across the street. She didn't mention that it was extremely expensive, I paid $24.49 for 1 hour and 6 minutes in the structure. Oh, I almost forgot that they added a 20% gratuity automatically for a party of 2! So, overall, my catfish dinner, 1 crab cake appetizer, and $2 up charge for the Brussels brought my bill to $74. Plus, the $24.49 for parking was a $100 night with no liquor only to have to leave and go eat elsewhere as what I wasted money on left me hungry and unsatisfied for sure.
